Every time they write a "Finale" they always make it a hollow finale that kindof closes out the series, but doesn't REALLY as a "Just in case" they ever get renewed. Matt Gorening's comments about trying to shop the show around to another network pretty much confirms it'll be the same this time…
If it's going to end, I wish we'd get an actual ENDING... like, if Matt's attempts to shop the show around fail, I wonder if they could get Fox and/or Comedy Central to agree to one more Direct to DVD Film or a special that they can write as a TRUE conclusion. No more "Will they won't they" with Fry and Leela, finally wrap everything up in a nice bow... you know?
Futurama is an episodic television show with no overarching plot with the reset button at the end of every normal episode. What ending could there possibly be? There's no real loose end's in the series, or anything that would really need a wrap up. What kind of climatic ending could there possibly be in a show where nothing of the previous episode is really followed up on in the next? I can see this complaint applied to serious action shows ending like Young Justice, but Futurama…really? What do you want? Fry and Leela being married and having mixed raced one eyed ginger kid's or something?
