SNES cause i still play it from time to time^^
Best game console of all time?
-
-
That's incorrect as well as having nothing to do with what makes the best console ever.
Having nothing to do with what makes the best console ever, fair enough.
Incorrect? The SNES advanced what the NES set up for the most part. Some great advances but no innovations. -
Tetris Attack. Oh man. Tetris Attack.
Also. To name some lesser big time titles, but which were also good.
Megaman Soccer
Earthworm Jim 1 &2 (I realize it was multiplatform, but still)
Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose
Super Turrican
Uniracers
Breath of Fire 1 and 2
Castlevania 4
Pocky and Rocky
Super Double Dragon
R Type 3 AND Gradius 3
Super Bomberman 2
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
EVO: Search For Eden
Mario Paint (before Photoshop beckoned me… here was Mario Paint.)
Turtles in TimeANd of course all the AAA games Darkstorm listed. SNES was fantastic.
Its time to get an emulator and some rom hacks...
-
Heh, I did list castlevania 4.
Axelay
Super Aleste
Pop n Twinbee
contra 3
super punch out
prince of persia 21 level editionThe list goes on.
Having nothing to do with what makes the best console ever, fair enough.

Saying the nes and the psx are the only houses of major innovation disregards how incredibly important the impact of the N64 was on future game design.

Yes. If Mario 64 had never come out, we might still be getting decent Sonic games.
-
Nah, sega's self destructive tendencies had already began, and sonic xtreme started development before the N64 came out
32x was the beginning of the end.

The days when game commercials from Nintendo weren't trying to force thier control gimmicks and "family fun" propaganda down my throat. The Mario Galaxy 2 commercial I seen was downright embarrassing.

@Superbear:
Right now I think the Wii is probably the best one out;seeing as how Sony and Microsoft seem to be copying them constantly now, seriously man that Eye Toy bull Microsoft is pulling ain't going to sell.
You're about a year late there, my dear Ninty fanboy. There's a difference between being the best one and being the one that appeals to everyone and their grandmothers that it sells like fucking crazy. MS and Sony followed this with the Sony blatantly copying the Wiimote and MS doing something a little more unique.
It won't sell? That's what gamers said about the Wii, and look what happened. A shitload of people pre-ordered it, I'm not one of them, but it WILL sell. Anything casual like that WILL SELL
The only thing I'm not sure of selling are 3DTVs with Sony's games being available in 3D. Wait, no I'm SURE they won't sell.
@JERK:
Anyone who answers 64, Gamecube, Wii, you are not a Nintendo fan.
You don't even know what power is.
A system like the SNES is power. The SNES is everything Nintendo has been trying to regain for over ten years.
I didn't exactly grow up with the SNES, but yes, its games are Nintendo's best. I still love my GC and N64, and If I ain't a Ninty fan for that, fine by me.
-
SNES. Although my first gaming experience was courtesy of Atari, the SNES was the console that truly made me a gaming fan. I remember my mom bringing home the system bundled with "A Link to the Past." It was my first time playing a game with more substance than PacMan or Space Invaders, and the music, graphics, and gameplay just drew me in (coincidentally, a new Zelda fan was also born that day). Mario, Donkey Kong, Pitfall: TMA, Chrono Trigger, Killer Instinct, Zombies Ate My Neighbors…..titles that imbue an instant sense of nostalgia for me and are still fun to play, years later.
N64, GBA, and PS2 would also rank among my list of favorites, of course. But the SNES is like the voice of my childhood, and will always be the closest to my heart because of that.
-
We had a master system, my cousins a snes - no need to say who were the most popular in our family, my cousins of course. I am remembering full nights of street fighter - and Mario, hehehe those were good times.
I still have a deep nostalgic love for sms games like Alex kidd, shinobi and the first sonics.
But snes wins this, no debate possible. -

With all the unprecedented heat Kinect's getting and the rumored price tag as another factor I wonder if it can sell good enough.

Kinect: http://www.lolboom.com/kinect-fantasy-vs-reality
Personally, I am sick of motion control technology dominating development these days. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is one of the most fun games I have played in a long time, because it goes back to the basics of simple, fun and interesting gameplay. Much like in SMB3, SMW or Yoshi's Island, each level is a unique, bite-sized experience with fun ideas. Sure there is motion control, but Nintendo manages to incorporate and use it creatively as a delightful tidbit during certain sections of the game without relying on it as an overblown game-selling gimmick.
-
I can't get into Super Mario World.
And I love all the other 2D Mario games to death (SMB2 included)
I'm starting the second world right now and all it feels like…is disappointment. -
Wow that's just bizarre.
-
Yeah, you should see a doctor about that.
EDIT: http://girlsofwar.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/dr-mario.jpg

Well, all I know is if anyone wants to play Wii 2/Wii HD without any Nintendo developed games, go ahead and buy Move.
Although I think it's smart to make the PS3's exclusive FPS, Killzone, compatible with Move. Never liked the series, though.

Shameful. A real Nintendo fan would still have a working Super Nintendo after all these years.
If you've never touched a Super Nintendo, then you're not a gamer. Straight up. You're not. Don't even try calling yourself one.
Now excuse me, I'm going to go home and play either a working, yet scrapped up Super Metroid or Street Fighter Zero 2.
-
I have a SNES in my basement but I lost the AC adapter for it and can't seem to find another one that works with it  .

I have one of those. I used to love playing it as a Kid.

I used to have mine but lost the cables, controllers, and had no games for it.
I still have my N64 with only Pokemon Stadium 2 & Namco Coliseum for it.
-
I really have fond memories of my N64 and NES. But I think that the NES is one of the best ones. I really love playing Mario Bros and Duck Hunt. I know I ain't the only one who wanted to shoot that fucking dog.
But whoever mentioned Tetris Attack gets awesome points in my book. Bravo. I fuckin' loved playing that game on my Game Boy.
-
What a terrible, bias-reeking thread.
What's this, now? I actually agree with Moria on something?? Never thought I'd see that day.

I concur.

Thanks for coming in and throwing around your vague dissaprovement forums superstar Super Franky.

I don't think there is a BEST game console of all time. There's sure weaker ones and stronger ones but still.
I've enjoyed my SNES a whole bunch. The GBA was pretty awesome too (if you factor in the GB/GBC games too.)
Weakest for me was the X-Box. I didn't have many good games for it and sold it after owning it for 2 years and being on it about 10 times total during. I miss Worms for it tho…
-
Dreamcast :ninja:
-
I spent my childhood with Crash Bandicoot and Spyro. And digimon.
On my Playstation. Nothing can overdo him. Leo was the best console ever and is still. I still have him and over 200 games to play.

Digimon World 1? I used to play that all the time when I was little. XD
I never could get any other Ultimate except for the giant Teddy Bear (Which you found the suit for.)
-
for me it'd have to be the 360 and wii
360 because you get music on it and it has call of duty which is fun to play on xbox live.
wii because its fun to play and it has super smash bros brawl and mariokart.
