Chapter 590: Little Bro
-
-
i feel like moria's death was partially done so there are no epic zombies
Moria is alive fool. Just like MJ is still too.
-
i feel like moria's death was partially done so there are no epic zombies
Moria's death?! Huh?! He's not dead.
-
Maybe AL arc was feared before but we don't know the exact circumstances…
The only thing we know is that Nyon said loud and clearly... Boa's status is the only thing which prevents the marines to attack them.
Why should Boa say this if Boa could simply go with Luffy and AL would be still save.
If he plays out the AL attack arc now than yeah she will join. But I hope not. Not because of Boa but because I want to move the story forward to other locations and we already had a war.
If she just joins Luffy and let the island to an unkown fate cuz of her actions... Than she isn't a worthy nakama in my eyes
But Oda will clear it up the next chapter(s)
-
Wasn't Ussop the FIRST to manage to inflict damage to the Pacifistas through his skill BY SHOTING IT IN THE MOUTH? He can already bypass his armor, he just have to wait for it to attack.
Exactly. I didn't say that each of them will use pure strength, but I think that each of them will be able to beat one kumabot, using their respective, powered-up, skills.
-
-
My guess: Luffy trains with Jimbei and Rayleigh on Saobody, while he's waiting for his crew.
-
So you're saying Usopp should have a cool, suave voice?
That doesn't fit his character at all. A high-pitch, cowardly voice fits his character.I'm just saying his voice anoys me . Even if it fits , it anoys me .
-
@AdmiralYonkouMt.Bandit:
When did she eat her DF? and when did all of AL become feared?
She ate her DF as a child slave. Amazon Lily was feared for it's Haki-using Amazon army, most likely. However, Hancock made it even more fearsome. Although some credit should be given to it's location in the Calm Belt.
-
That chapter was so sad and touching. I love it.
16 characters of BAWW
-
great chapter, epic speech by shanks and jinbei, the page with the crew made cry,i tried to fight them back but i just couldn't
and i thought luffy will stay there longer and train haki since he finally realized thats he is weak but i guess that wont happen
-
I wouldn't be surprised if he came along for the ride until they finally reach fishman island. After that, who knows…
Although given the animes treatment of the crews adventures, I wouldn't be too surprised if we got a little training montage at the hands of our friendly neighbourhood shichibukais.
hachan already said that he would be leading them
-
I really liked this chapter, probably because of Dadan. It's good to see what happened to her, and also good to see she really cares about Ace.
My guess: Luffy trains with Jimbei and Rayleigh on Saobody, while he's waiting for his crew.
I think he will end up learning it himself like he did with Gear 2nd and 3rd.

Well, there's also the case of Boa's love sickness that'll probably kill her unless it's dealt with now, or if she goes with Luffy. If she's not cured of it by the time that Luffy leaves, I can see Nyon and her sisters forcing her to go.

I don't think the "Love Sickness" should be taken literally. I think it's just Love, something that an island full of woman only would not really understand or know how to deal with.
The previous Princess probably "died" because of the crazy things love makes you do instead of being physically sick and dying from a "love" disease…

Same here…sort of.
I think someone is going to have to explain what it is to him. Luffy has used it multiple times, but has never recognized that he did anything. All Luffy needs is for someone to tell him the power he has inside, what it is and what it does, and he can figure the rest out for himself.
-
All of the Arlong tension between Luffy and Jimbei will be resolved once they meet Hachan, there's no way for them not to talk about Arlong at meeting.

My guess/prediction is that Boa will learn something of true leadership from Luffy (and by this I mean learn to think about her subjects and her kingdon's needs more than her own) and will decide in the end that while she loves Luffy, she has an obligation to stay and be the leader in AL. She herself will be the one who makes that choice, and the key will be that the decision will in some odd way derive from her love of Luffy, thus saving her from death by broken heart. I will now tread where angels fear to step foot, and say otherwise I cannot see her joining the crew. She just hasn't shown the qualities of a SH–among them being real loyalty to someone/thing, and a true sense of honor in how she deals with others, as well as no emotional ties to anyplace in particular that would be deep enough to prevent leaving, and no dream mentioned that going with Luffy would help her fulfill.

I just realized there was no sign of Little Oars Jr at the funeral. I wonder if he was a casualty? I would think someone with a unique size and design such as him would be used later on. But at the same time what ever Oda wanted out of a guy like that probably completely served its purpose back in thriller bark.
-
Or at least would get a humongous grave .
-
Even though I've been missing the new cover story, these current covers are freakin hilarious! Jinbei and Mihawk eating takoyaki ftw!
-
Straaaaawhaaaaaaats!
Reunion is in the horizon!
-

This isn't bleach or Naruto. We don't have huge time skips or training arcs. Luffy will get stronger and learn haki and stuff on his own. Jimbei and Rayleigh aren't gonna teach him fk all.

Little Oars Jr is dead. He used whatever remainin strength he had left to get the Moby Dick paddleship over the seige wall…..he is dead.
-
He's deader than Moria, who himself is deader than a dog in Japan.
If you're insinuating dog eating culture, you got the wrong country.
That's the next door down. -
Laos ?! :O .

Korea you fools.

And China .

Yeah, this isn't a manga where the older generation make it easy for you.
-
Yeah, Luffy have good eyes and observation. Just how he copied Soru in just 1 confrontation? But I don't get why he's still look clueless about his haki. He triggered it about 3 times already? Oh well maybe sooner since he seeks more power right now.
-
Damn Oda's really working us up some hype to the reunion.
Also a brilliant chapter, and damn it I'm turning into a Jimbei fanboy now he was so awesome in this chapter.And also because I'm a man from Yorkshire this needs to be hidden, that last page;
[hide]I found it very emotional [/hide]

Probably because it was him doing it but was triggered by his emotion rather than seeing someone else do it, he will figure it out, its just about timing and he will probably have it figured out mid fight rather than training

This sums up pretty much what I think about Boa leaving with Luffy, or rather, her inclination to stay at AL. I hope we see her in an epilogue though.
-
This was a great chapter! I liked the scene with Dadan and Garp. Also, liked how Jinbei helped Luffy with making him realize his crew is still there. Anyways, I think next chapter Luffy be heading out of Amazon Lily, and I think we see where some of the Strawhats are.
-
Nah, I think it'll still be a few chapters before Luffy gets underway. We still have to deal with the following people:
Law - Does he ship out immediately upon seeing that Luffy's well enough to be on his own now, or do circumstances conspire to keep him around for a little longer?
Marguerite - How's she going to take the news that her friend is back and in such poor shape compared to when they spoke last? Will Luffy's frilly vest make a comeback?
Hancock - How's she going to deal with the fact that Luffy wants to leave ASAP? She's kinda the elephant in the living room. She requires resolution for the story to move on.
Jimbei - See Law, is he going to head out on his own, or continue to stick with Luffy for the near future? There's a lot of stuff to do first.
-

Still we now know that kid Luffy actually used to train with Ace and Sabo so yeah if the crew isnt there i see him training if it will be alone or with help i dont know it might even just be a little narrator quote saying Luffy is training while the crew doesnt come back or something like this.
-

To me that's no different than Oda showing Zoro training on the ship by lifting huge weights just saying hey they do their own training. Same for Luffy when he basically says he decided to develop a new technique i.e. gears.

Ah, ok. That's true. Good points you provided there. Have not thought of those. Would be funny if we see Luffy's frilly vest again. Also, I hope next chapter we see how some of the other Strawhats are doing.

The wolves in ID
At the war with ace.
am I missing one??

I'm still going with Luffy training before he leaves the island. And I don't think Hancock will be onboard for him leaving just yet.
-
With the way things are going and how we know luffy gets his "powerup's" He will go get his crew back together. Along the way, somehow thinking up a new skill or doing the Zoro thing.
But I also agree with the stuff that what's his face said about Law and Jimbei and all the crap left at Amazon Lilly.
That shit needs to be put to bed before the main story continues. -
Would be funny if we see Luffy's frilly vest again.
I had forgotten about that XD I literally had one of those spewing-your-coffee-everywhere moments (but i don't drink coffee, so it was milk tea this time) just from you reminding me~
Anyway, more relevantly, as for the training, Luffy's in a state of severe injury right now, right? And he just had an epic battle? I think he's just going to be stronger when he recovers, like Goku, but without the "it's because Saiya-jins bodies automatically do that" explanation, and also not to the same scale, because strength in One Piece is not hyper-exponential like that (for example, we have SEEN Zoro getting progressively closer to Mihawk over time, without super-enormous jumps in ability). I mean, I'm pretty sure Luffy's just gotten a little stronger after each individual battle, in a similar way, ya know? He might have haki explained to him in a few sentences pretty soon, and then will adjust to using it over time in the middle of battles (think Gatling Gun: first time he used it, not so clean… or was that only in the anime? Please forgive me and ignore this particular example if it was only in the anime. I've read every chapter of the manga several times, but details like this can remain fuzzy, even if you only see them animated once). But there will never be a need for Oda to show him training.
-
It would be cool if one of the Shichibukai joined Luffy's crew.

to my mind Jimbei will stick to luffy till they go to archipelago and then to fishman island..there he ll stay to protect his island now that WB,the one who was protecting it,is dead..
Law will head str8 to the New world (maybe he has even left by now,he is a pirate and he was far too sweet and generous to luffy till now)
Hancock will have to endure luffy's departure :P
but she cant leave her islandmargarette..will see..i hope she doesnt join..but i really hope 10th member being a hot female xD

I think that's about right. In typical Oda fashion, the instances were very subtle at first, getting gradually stronger each time.
Here's my newish theory on Luffy's attitude/seemingly cluelessness about his own Haki ability. Comments and corrections are welcomed (snark not so much, lol)
It seems to me that Luffy, no matter what else you say about him, (and there's plenty to say I know), is usually very focused–you could even say obsessively focused---once he sets his mind on something. His crew has said it repeatedly--once he decides to do something he gonna go all out. Even outside of a battle/fight (like in ID when he ran into BB--he was momentarily, and understandably IMHO, distracted from his mission to save Ace--but let it be noted that not only was he quickly brought back to the task at hand, but he was distracted by something very much related to the task at hand, as well) I think he hyper focuses (we call it perseverating in Spec Ed circles, lol) on what he needs to do in order to accomplish what's in front of him (win this battle, usually) but it means stuff that seems unimportant may be ignored and even forgotten later on if it's not something he has to deal with directly in order to accomplish his goal. As was shown, in each instance of using Hakibition, he was very concerned/upset by something--the something lead to a huge burst of emotion, which lead to the Haki burst. Once the immediate danger is passed (the wolves passed out, the Gorgon sisters put Margaret down, the soldiers stopped the execution) he went on with the next phase (with, of course, the exception of the time with the wolves) still completely focused on the next task necessary to accomplish his ultimate goal. The more danger involved, the more focused he is, and the less likely he is to notice peripheral stuff, like passed out people who were fodder anyway. In other words--he simply doesn't notice the affects of his hakibition burst because it's, at that moment, relatively unimportant to him.
So–whaddaya think? Make sense? Have I missed anything or made illogical leaps here?

This chapter gives us yet ANOTHER reason to love this series and laugh at the….'competition'.
I mean come on folks.
Would you rather have, a massive, "I'b god by frends!"

Yup still Ace and Sabo were more experienced and told him some things about fightning for sure, i can see Jimbei/Rayleigh giving him some advices also, even in the Haki department i see people giving him advices but he will master it alone ofc.
