Shits awesome.
Yoldela–EXPLOSION
I'd like to make it known that I literally ROFLed at that. Literally.
This show didn't lose a damn thing. In that, I think it may have gotten funnier. Welcome the fuck back, Futurama, you gone done and proved the existence of God.
In the middle of the 2nd episode now. This is freakin' hysterical! Just as funny, if not funnier than I remember!
The Ship being invisible, but not cloaking Leela and Zapp was priceless.
It truly is the dawn of a new era for Futurama… without the Tuba!
Rarely does a show return to TV in a form better than the original. Way to go Futurama
They've got so much brains and funny bones in their staff, that this burst out was only natural after having to hold back for so long!
Some of the audio commentaries from the season DVDs were even funnier than the original episode!
Not to mention that the voice actors are the best in the entire world! Billy West, Frank Welker and Dan Castellaneta are simply unparalleled…
It's great to finally have you back, Futurama!
watched the first two new episodes…
have to say standart at most!
Zap was sure awesome in the second episode but overall the episode wasn`t that good^^
If i recall correctly, the main thing that was missing was catchy classic Futurama bumper music and more Zoidberg.
I liked both the episodes though I only had a few out loud laughs. Only thing that bothered me was the end of the second episode where Fry gets to watch Leela screw Zap right in front of him. She didn't even seem bothered by the idea. Sure it was to save the world but that felt tacked on. Other then that I look forward to more episodes and hope it don't become like Family Guy.

That was bothersome to me too, but there's three things that made it sort of work.
1. It WAS to save the world, after all.
2. Fry was right there. It wasn't cheating on him, and not as bad as it would have been if they'd done it at the end of the second act.
3. Zap did not enjoy it in the least and Leela presumably beat him up some more afterwards.
i heard the first episode istn' as good and sort of a get to know the characters episode.

Glad to have the Futurama we all remember back in action. Wonderful episodes!!!
the first episode was bad, the second episode was pretty okay.
not nearly as good as i hoped or expected, but it could pick up later on.
most of the die-hard futurama fans i talked to seemed to absolutely hate both episodes.
and yeah…it was really weird for fry and leela to be dating, but she's casually cheating on him several times an episode and no one reacts to it.
Both episodes were very funny XD
I loved both episodes.
Maybe is because I were too young when I watched the other seasons, but I thought they put more sex jokes than before. Am I right?….or should I watch the older ones again?

they definitely put more in now, since they're on comedy central and can get away with way more than they could on fox.
They can get away with more, or Comedy Central wanted them to put more in?
Show me DVD commentary where David X Cohen laments how he's unable to pump Fox Futurama with sex jokes and I'll show you fans thinking twice about watching The Second Coming.

these episodes themselves weren't even pumped with sex jokes.
there were like two.
there's a difference between being allowed to do something, and desperately wanting to do something but not being allowed to. the writers are aware that they can go for jokes in ways they couldn't before, as well as, from what i've heard, the futurama dvd-only specials had more sexual humor than the original tv series did, anyway.

Ye gods.
Japan and America have more in common than they'd care to believe. -_-
Episodes were pretty ok; First one had the best story and heart, second one had the better jokes (unsurprizingly being a Brannigan heavy episode). The way the Bender/doomsday device plotline resolved itself felt really dumb though, and Amy proposing an orgy seemed out of character after her reunion with "Kiffy".
Regarding fry and Leela, I'm actually still don't dare assume they're actually dating. In the first episode Fry says he'll "wait for Leela a little longer", and in the second all he gets is a kiss on the cheek and being disregarded in a heartbeat in the "garden of Eden". After 4 seasons and 4 movies, I just don't dare hope yet, especially when both new episodes challenge the relationship.
Also, I know Groenings policy is Comedy>continuity, but the "fugitive" status being completely forgotten and the stem cells really irked me.
Still, great to have it back - Zoidberg, Farnsworth and Zapp alone make it worthwhile.
I hope this season has some episodes like "Jurassic Bark" or "The luck of the fryish".
I love the sad episodes of Futurama
@The:
Amy proposing an orgy seemed out of character after her reunion with "Kiffy".
Amy has always been a slut.
And while Kiff joined that crew rather than stay with Zap at the end of the last movie, they didn't really reconcile either.
Considering some of the upcoming commercials, and the writers at comicon last year have indicated that
! Amy will end up having a fling wih Bender
I think its fair to say she and Kiff aren't totally back to being an item. I mean. She slept with Zap. Could there be a bigger possible betrayal for Kif?
Amy was a slut pre-Kiff.
After their relationship started she become way more lovey-dovey, always sticking up for him to her parents, and going as far as marriying him and coming to terms with being the mother of his children. Unless they forget that as well, the last point in particular seemed to secure her new personality and their bond.
Then movie 2 happened. Sure she slept with Zapp, but she had actually been grieving over Kiffs (legitimate) death for some time compared to Leelas instant turnaround in this episode, where Zapps opportunistic nature was far more obvious. And by the end of the movie Amy is in no way involved with Zapp, has punched him in the gut, and begs forgiveness from Kiff.
At any rate this was all just an excuse to have her be single so they could create a slutty persona for her in the movie 3 alternate dimension.
In movie 4 she does nothing resembling slutty behaviour, and while it doesn't end with them kissing they at least had their arms around one another on the planet express ship, and Kiff was ready to forgive her.
And I have seen the spoiler, and loathe that decision. It's like Ross and Rachel, only far more obnoxious and making less logical sense.

Wasn't her relationship with Fry going on after Amy and Kif had already became an item? She dated another guy at the end of the episode as well so I don't think their relationship has ever been monogamous on her end.
Far as the orgy joke itself went, that was one of the better bits in the episode to me thanks to the reactions of the male characters when they realize the implications of one Amy + numerous guys in an orgy.
Amy and fry hooked up in season 2, and Amy and Kif became a couple in season 3. They met each other in season 1 yes, but Kif was too afraid to call back until the Amazon episode.
From that point on Amy giving Human bender a kiss in an alternate reality was the only flirtatious thing I remember her doing. Whos the other guy you're referring to her dating?
She dated a dude at the time Fry's head was attached to her shoulder and a gas alien in the episode when Leela x Zapp happened.
I think that were all dudes she hooked up with but I'm not sure
@robbybedfart:

what in the name of…
! some might say foreshadowing
but i say thats just a cheap way to get attention or shock value
At this point I really don't care about relationships. I just want episodes that really use science fiction elements. Concept of God as a space entity like in Godfellas, Anthology of Interest episodes, and so on.
So far I'm kinda disappointed.
As I read this thread, I'm starting to think people are forgetting this show is, first and foremost, a comedy. Relationships and other such junk come second to yuk-yuks.
The giggles are most important, and they've been spot-on thus far.
I can't really tell what's a bland episode of Futurama. Most of the time, they are bland are not really deep. What I like about the show is the combination of a quirky cast and their misadventures in an imperfect or vaguely explained futuristic setting.
I aslo like how a guy like Fri fits in so perfectly in a society with supposedly higher intelligence than the past. It sorta symbolizes something that was lost in time… But that's thinking too deep into it.
first one was pretty meh…almost painful
second one was average futurama, not their best but good stuff, i enjoyed it
Liked the first one, for a second there they made me think that true Lela was REALY going to die.
The second one, hated it, I can't stand Branigan in any shape or form, and can't get any humor out of him, even him in pain I just find it anoying and disgusting.
I liked the second episode more, it made me laugh a lot.
Way better than the DTV's so far, but I hope they don't try to go back to Status Quo about Fry and Leela's relationship, that would stink.

Quite possibly the best animated comedy series episode ever.
I also loved The Devil's hands are idle playthings, Luck of the Fryrish and the episode with Nibler's race.
New episodes aren't horrible, but it's the Family Guy effect, unless the writing takes a turn for the worst. They're just stalling to create interest in a series they had to rush and wrap up, due to cancellation.
The only problem I had with these episodes is that they didn't have enough Zoidberg.
Regarding relationships, thats always what raised the show to the level of Old Simpsons, putting it leagues ahead of Family Guy, New Simpsons etc. by actually having heart to go with the laughs. Also, unlike any of the other shows Futurama actually developed a continuity, which character relationships were a big part of.
And it's no secret that Leelas homeworld, Jurassic Bark, The Sting, Devils Hands, Luck of the Fryrish, Godfellas, A cruise to remember, The Why of Fry, Time keeps on slipping and Amazon women in the mood are some of the best episodes the series have to offer…And these all either have emotional payoffs, or revolve around relationships.
The giggles are most important, and they've been spot-on thus far.
I haven't seen the new episodes yet, but Futurama always had a balance between low brow and high brow humour, and from the comments it seems like they're going overboard with the low brow stuff. It's given since the show is on Comedy Central of all places, but it feels like a step down from the awe-inspiring Futurama of yesteryear.
"Hey, lets cherry pick the 9 or 10 very best episodes of the 80 the series has had, that I've seen a couple dozen times in reruns and have a comfortable ten year familiarity with, and keep comparing those to the new ones."
Its a bit unfair keep comparing these new eps to the very best the show has to offer.
The new episodes were good (and I'm apparently the only one that liked the first ep better than the second. The twists and turns with the robots kept me guessing.) and completely on par with the average Futurama episode. They weren't the creme of the crop, (from the lists people keep making, you're identifying like 3 episodes out of any given seasons 20) but they weren't bad or anywhere near their worst episodes by any means.
They simply were, Futurama. As it was most of the time. Decent and entertaining, rarely bad, occassionally fantastic.
no your not. i liked the first episode better too. though, not bad, i wasn't too keen on the whole zack and leela stranded together story. at the end I was like god no.
I enjoyed the first new episode more than the second. I liked all the robot shenanigans. These were a couple of good episodes. Entertaining enough.
I think I liked the first one more as well as the second episode seemed somewhat uneven. It didn't help that the invisible ship, visible people joke was done much more effectively by Invader Zim.
"Well, that's just stupid."

I think you'll find that most people, myself included, thought the episodes were decent; I don't see anyone dismissing this revival because it fell short of say, Luck of The Fryrish.
The list I made was just to show that when Futurama is best it includes drama/relationships, in response to several posters saying that relationships are irrelevant/comedy should be undisputed king.
Whether The two new episodes fulfill these critiria is different topic.
Incidentally, because the first one was a Fry/Leela episode and actually had some touching moments (like many series greats in my list), I'll join the crowd that favors that over the 2nd.
@The:
Luck of The Fryrish
I was curious about people consistently bringing up this episode, so I wiki'd it and read the summary.
T_T
! I'm named after my dead uncle.
Dude…watch the damn show already.
That would make too much sense.
The Brannigan episode had me in stitches.
My favorite episodes are:
Luck of the Fryish
I, Roommate
The Sting
Amazon Women in the Mood
The Problem with Popplers
Jurassic Bark
Brannigan, Begin Again
Time Keeps on Slippin
Where No Fan Has Gone Before
The Farnsworth Paradox
Implying you don't watch Futurama
I do, but Comedy Central rarely if ever fits my schedule. Heck, I'd probably be more active in the South Park topic if it was on Fox instead of CC.
Bumping thread to remind folks the next new episode comes on in about ten minutes.
THURSDAYS!
Happy poopy time people, happy poopy time…
I cringed at the eyePhone installation…
