Okay thanks. Found out.
-
Hi guys im just wondering if there are any fillers in the davy back fight arc and should i skip them.
Thanks -
There are some filler in the anime version of the arc, yes, but it is still worth a watch. It is quite a fun arc, and important things to the plot happens at the end of it.
-
I believe there are. The fillers are when Chopper gets taken away for a second time and they decide to keep playing. Luffy wins all of Foxy's crew but he gives them up later. I didn't even know it was filler until I read about it. There's really no need to skip it.
-
There are fillers between the 6th and the 2nd match.
-
just watch them all, they are fun and enjoyable
only one thing to watch out for, which isn't really a big deal unless your relaly picky about watching and that is somethin gabout chopper
! he eats too many rumble balls, which is a plot hole you find out later
-
There are fillers and if you don't like them, skip them. You can always come back later once you finished the series and you look for more One Piece.
If the series couldn't keep you interested to the end and you stopped watching it half way through, these fillers wouldn't have made a difference either. -
I really hope this is in the Season 3 voyage as we were discussing in the funimation dvd pt.II thread but yes they are fillers it comes right before the Big Water 7/Enies Lobby Arc
-
Hello! I'm new here but I've been watching One Piece a long time. I recently wanted to start watching One Piece again, since I haven't seen new episodes since Thriller Bark ended, but I kind of have a weird experience with my experience with OP and wanted to know where I should start.
I originally started at the beginning of the anime, and watched all the way up to the end of the Skypiea arc. But then I skipped a lot and went straight to Enies Lobbies up to the Thriller Bark Saga.
I was wondering what episodes or sagas I should catch up with that take place between Thriller Bark and the recent series in the anime. Also, what points between Skypiea and Enies Lobbies were Filler and was there anything I missed?
-
First of all, welcome!
After Skypiea there was a short filler arc called G8, and then it went to the Davy Backfight arc, which was canon…
I haven't been watching the anime recently, so I'm not caught up with the episodes, sorry. :(
I do recommend, however, reading the manga from Thriller Bark onwards, if getting caught up on the series is all you're concerned about. It's somewhat faster and there's no fillers to worry about. -

I would read the manga, but i'm used to the anime since I've only read a little bit of the manga. Is the Davy Backfight arc important to the plot? From what I've seen it looks like they just play minigames.. -
Thanks!

From what I've seen it looks like they just play minigames..Well if you're not going to read past where the anime currently is, I'd stay far away from this forum or other OP sites for several months. There are several extremely revealing spoilers that can be summed up in a few words that you might come across here.

I'll try not to read into many spoilers, is the manga that ahead of the anime?
-
The manga is always ahead of the anime.
-
Thanks!

From what I've seen it looks like they just play minigames..I enjoy the anime too, but I have a hard time finding older episodes with decent subtitles and my computer acts like a rabid spider monkey every time I try to download something. The manga is always available online, though, and it's usually free.
Is it important to the plot…I didn't think so, but it was a fun arc with tons of action (I watched this one instead of reading it, and I enjoyed it; there's plenty of humor supplied before hitting the bleaker Enies Lobby arc). -

Well it's not that it's that ahead, just that several extremely important things have happened that the anime hasnt caught up to yet. I recommend only staying in the Anime subforum, because people discuss spoilers all the time here.

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely watch it then, One Piece humor is usually very awesome.
-
The only real important bit of the DBF is meeting Aokiji for the first time.
Although with things like Afro Luffy its always worth watching anyways. Both the canon and filler one.
Not to mention Foxy and Porshe appear in the filler after Thriller Bark

Hey all! New here to the forums, really have a burning question too.
I've finally got into One Piece and man.. I LOVE it. However I cannot stand the Skypiea Arc… and it is really, really long. I watched the first 160 episodes (sans filler) in maybe two and a half weeks and have really just hit a flat stalemate when it comes to this Skypiea Arc. By skipping it and going right to the Davey Black Arc.. will I be missing too much other than maybe a couple cool fights?

Believe it or not, Skypie will become one of the most important arcs later on. There are many smalls details hidden on each episodes. It kinda begins real slow, but it will progress very fast. Don't skip it

Ugh, that's upsetting. I'm currently at
! where enel has just reveled himself and the 3 priests have been given free reign. The episode right after Going Merry is mysteriously fixed
Aka 30 more episodes in this arc.
Oh well I'll slowly trudge through it.

You're barely at the part where the arc really kicks it into high gear! Don't go giving up on the Skypiea arc yet, it truly is an excellent arc with more than a fair share of cool fights…it's got a lot of cool fights, a touching backstory, and helps develop the characters (their moves and resolves).

am I the only person who is dissatisfied with Crocodile's voice actor?

Which one? The English or the Japanese?

Well I finally got through the Skypeia Arc and I can successfully say… I hated it. Back on to good Cannon!

Meh, to each their own. "Hating" the arc is a bit harsh though, and secondly, Skypiea will always remain cannon no matter what.
-
I've never understood the Skypeia hate. Also, if he just finished Skypeia, he isn't going back into canon. Pretty good filler to be sure, but not canon.

I didn't say it wasn't cannon, I said back on to 'good' cannon.
It was just a boring sub par arc compared to any before it.I've never understood the Skypeia hate. Also, if he just finished Skypeia, he isn't going back into canon. Pretty good filler to be sure, but not canon.
I don't watch filler.

Davy Back Fight will be an interesting experience for you then.
-

I don't mind the actor, but I dislike the acting. Dub Crocodile sounds more like a brutish thug than criminal mastermind.
-

Why do you assume that at all?
-
Because it has a lot of filler in it that skipping will render the whole thing slightly confusing?
-
Agreed on the Skypeia Arc- it was a pretty subpar run. From what I can tell, the main reasons that they went up there were to tie in Merry as a major character and to provide the Straw Hats with the Skypeian dials. Everything else felt quite a bit like filler, especially since it comes almost immediately after the Arabasta Arc.
Also, could someone point me in the direction of this scene?

I'm looking for the eyes in particular. I can't find them and it's driving me nuts.EDIT: @Crossword: Seriously? I know I've seen most of them in scenes. Zoro crying while swearing to never lose again. Chopper bawling his eyes out when leaving Drum. And so on. So Luffy's the only one that doesn't have a legitimate corresponding manga/anime scene?
-
That's fan art .

Oh nvm, you meant the pictures in that link if it was in the anime, luffy's does seem familiar, i just think you arent up to it just yet, it might have been deeper into the anime. Seems to me that is was actually in the recent arc.
-
-
Yes, you probably are Miad.
-
I guess that people are so used to picturing Crocodile, or rather his seiyuu Ryuuzaburo Otomo, sounding like this diabolical mastermind that when he talks normally it catches them off guard. I've noticed that it's those scenes where he's simply talking and not acting menacing lately are the ones people seem to have issues with.
-

It has 3 episodes of filler? That's not a lot lmao.
-
It has filler interspersed with canon, and then there's a filler arc after that concludes with canon as well.

Precisely. Plus the filler actually changes the way the arc ends slightly not that its much of an issue.
-
how is Toei making the separation serial?
-
So far it's been two sets of four episodes, two Straw Hats per episode.
-
-
Maybe someone here can help me find this!
This weekend in Japan they aired an episode of a show called 'Real Scope' that showed how the OP anime is made, with the story boarding, animation and voice acting. It looks like it had some fun stuff, like how Buggy's voice actor likes to adlib lines.
This is the official site for the show: http://www.fujitv.co.jp/b_hp/realscope/index.html
And here's a blog entry with screenshots and info: http://zeark969.blog38.fc2.com/blog-entry-1492.html
But I haven't been able to find any videos uploaded online yet. :\ I'll keep searching since I love stuff like this.
One of the highlights is this picture one of the animators drew of a Luffy/Crocodile fusion. I think it's pretty hilarious/disturbing.
-
Hey Cool! Thanks for the info!
-
The show was very interesting and I enjoyed a lot. But I was watching this by using KeyHoleTV. Sorry.
-
Someone on KF's forum posted Megaupload links to their recording of it, though they mention the audio of the recording is kinda bad. That thread is here: http://www.kaizoku-fansubs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=11594

I knew from the moment I saw this image, I knew I had to do something with it. It was just to good an image. The finished product is in the spoiler tag. Just wish I knew who drew it so I could credit them too.
!
I'll post the line-art if anyone wants it.
-
That is pretty cool. Thanks for the word on the special. I'll definitely have to check it out when I get home from work!
