Chapter 571 "The Execution Stand" Discussion
-
-
I'm betting Sengoku's fruit is a Gold element Logia. I really hope that is what it is.
-
Garp: WTF ???
At least he made it in a funny way, head buried in earth :-) Just not to show his emotions. So Garp is out of the fight now, not because he can't fight but because he doesn't want to. He made his choice. He will probably retire and exile now.And so, as Ace is free, just when WB and everyone will get some hope, BB has to appear.
-
Ace is free. \o/
Next chapter. Sengoku rages. Can't wait to see how they will escape. Marco and Jozu need to somehow be saved as well.

Ace will melt the ice to free Jozu and Mr 3 will to an other key for Marco and than super fire phoenix combo xD

I'm betting Sengoku's fruit is a Gold element Logia. I really hope that is what it is.
Gold has no specific property that would give it an advantage in fight compared to - say - iron (Mr 1) or diamond (Jozu). And it can't explain his size.
-
I listed those Buddha powers in page 11 first. I think…
-
I just freakin' love Oda. He never lets any of his characters get wasted, not even Mr 3. I love the fact that he turned out to bey the key of Ace's freedom, both literally and figuratively.
looks like all members of Baroque Works has officially been cursed to support Luffy at the end, lol. Now it's time for Crocodile and Mr 1 to make some significant contributions like Mr 3 & 2 did.
-

A gold logia could even be a disadvantage. Gold is one of the softer metals and melts relatively easy. Not something you'd generally want in a fight.
-
Yaah this sure is difficult but I was thinking further in the story. It would have been more predictable if Ace was dead.. but now can't really imagine what the relation between Ace and Luffy iwill be and if they are to become like final enemies later on.. would be kinda wieird oÔ
It actually would have made no sense if Ace were to die. That would have made Impel Down arc a waste and the War arc anti-climactic. Ace was destined to survive this War.
But I still think atleast one big name is going to die. Whitebeard. Maybe Garp too.
This War is supposed to have massive implications. It already has in a way, that Whitebeard acknowledges that it is the dawn of a new era. It's the Generation Y era, if you will. The future for which Shanks sacrificed his arm is upon us. It's going to be the era of Ace, Luffy and the soon, the Supernovas. It makes sense for Whitebeard to die, and pass the torch to the younger generation - especially to Ace and Luffy. His current condition is near-death as well, and it looks like he will either die during the War, or die somethime soon afterwards.
Now, what happens to Garp is to be seen. He is revered and respected as a hero of the marines, but I doubt that Sengoku and/or the Admirals will not see through the deception of Garp's "loss" to Luffy. One way or other, Garp will probably have to face the consequenses. The severity of the punishment is something we have to wait and see. I don't think Garp will be executed by the marines. He will probably be locked up, or he will sacrifice himself to pave an escape route for Ace, Luffy and others.
-
If he's liquid metal he could make himself any size.
@Ashura - Crocodile already did his part by saving Ace from the first executioners.
-
Ace will melt the ice to free Jozu and Mr 3 will to an other key for Marco and than super fire phoenix combo xD
If it works out that way, Mr. 3 would be a Whitebeard crew hero, if he isn't already. =]
-
Dear Lord!!
Could Mr 3 end up being the 3rd commander of the whit bear pirates? Or the missing number? lol
-

Garp didn't officially "betray" the marines, he was just unable to hit Luffy. Up until the execution/rescue he was strictly non-interventional. I figure that the worst that'll happen is that he will be reprimanded or demoted.
But who knows, I could be wrong. The marines have been shown to be pretty big dicks in the story so far.
-
okey, so everybody is on the stage. now we're just wainting for one more person - where is BB?! come on, crush them!
-
@Ashura - Crocodile already did his part by saving Ace from the first executioners.
Well, I kinda expect more from Croc :ninja:
btw, so it was mr 3
You can see a piece of hair coming out of his hat, must be the '3' hair cut… -

BB… dunno if he will come... if yes than just to kill WB but the rest will escape. Or maybe some flashback about how the fight ended Ace vs BB after the last attack.
-
Does the world know that Garp is Luffy's gramp and Dragon's father ? A few marines learned about it at Water 7, and Sengoku knows, but the rest ?
Also, when and how did Mr 3 get there ?
And who opened that damned gate ???
-
the gate was opened by… Sanji xD
No dunno maybe Wb and co did it
-
HOLY FUCK WHAT A CHAPTER!
isaidgoddamn!
-
So ace would've been allready free if luffy wouldn't have ruined mister 3s plan uh? :p
Great chapter, really liked it. And garp most likely let himself hit by luffy, why else would the fist of love (or hate now?) miss its target?
Edit: As for the gates, i still think someone related to bb opened them and we will get to know who it was when he will make his entrance.
-

I don't think so. Sengoku and maybe some other high end marines know, but aside from that I believe everyone's in the dark
Also, when and how did Mr 3 get there ?
Hasn't been shown yet. I figure he snuck up during the heat of the battle.
And who opened that damned gate ???
Also still a mystery. Maybe one of the Strawhats, working behind the scenes?
-
It's funny, all those big names with their super-powers and there's only Mr. 3 who made his way safe to the scaffold by using his brain.
This chap shows us that sheer power is sometimes nothing against cleverness.
The biggest disappointment in Sengokus ability is that he doesn't involve his pwngoat in his fighting style. -

I wonder what would have happened had Iva not given Luffy the 2nd vigor hormone shot. Mr. 3 might have been forced to slice to other executioner.
-
The tides have turned!
was badass to see luffy stand up against sengokus fist :D -

But shit yeah, allthough we don't have seen much of the mutant afro, what's up with pwngoat? -
I like how Sengoku just knows Garp let Luffy hit him instead of the others who might think he was fairly slammed in the face.
So I guess Sengoku won't be taken down in this war afterall since Oda bothered to shadow his Buddha form. Still lame he didn't just toss Luffy off the scaffold. That would have made more sense instead of loosing his cool and just going for Ace.
-
Yes, I hope for more from him as well. Yes, it's Mr. 3.
What chapter/page is that? Tinypic won't show up for me. It figures though that Oda would lay down some sort of clue in previous chapters. It's that attention to detail that just amazes me every time.

I am not sorry at all to dissapoint you guys.
But Sengoku told that to the world on a live broadcast.
At least, he gave everything for such a logical deduction. What chapter/page is that? Tinypic won't show up for me. It figures though that Oda would lay down some sort of clue in previous chapters. It's that attention to detail that just amazes me every time.
Chapter 569, last double spread.

@Ryuksgelus
nah, it's also Kizarus fault, I bet he aimed for Luffy's head (like he said "shoot them in the head these days") but only hit the keys with his shot. And now, after 130 chaps (rather exactly) when Ace was down and locked up it's his turn again.
Do something, boy! -
I am not sorry at all to dissapoint you guys.
But Sengoku told that to the world on a live broadcast.Hold your horses. He announced that Luffy was Dragon's son. He never mentioned that Garp in turn was Dragon's father and therefore Luffy's grandfather. There's no indication, that other people know that Garp is a relative of Luffy.
Edit: Thanks for the link to the page Silverblade.

Mr. 3 face planted in the bottom panel. xD
-
No. Kizaru was accurate. He probably just left Luffy and Ace to Sengoku, thinking he'd take care of things. Remember this all happened within a few seconds. Kizaru didn't need to do more.

Yeah, he told them that Luffy is Dragons son, but who knows (except Sengoku, Akainu, Aokiji, Coby and Helmeppo) that Luffy is Garps grandchild?
That was not broadcasted.@mr.french
sure he aimed 4 the key. that was just kidding sarcasm of mine. -
Dang I don't know how, but I just got this chapter in b4 school. I have to reread it. Just too awesome!

On the other side everyone who knows Garps and Luffys full name could connect these two at least as relatives, since both are called "Monkey D."
In Dragons case, nothing about his person was known not even his full name until Garp was yellin it out. -
Hope we get a cool splash page of Sengoku in top form next chapter.
-
Two questions:
Is that Sengoku saying "Oh no" just before the explosion?
Did Ace create a fire wall around Luffy, Mr. 3 and himself (the flame tunnel) to shield themselves from the explosion?
-
Hmm now really wonder in which direction Oda is taking the story to, now that Ace isn't dead..
Are you one of those foolish people that honestly thought Ace was going to die?
-

That was not broadcasted.Yup, I for some reson thought that Sengoku said "son of Monkey D. Dragon", giving everything for a logical deduction. My bad.
Well, even without this, the world knows that Garp and Luffy share a surname, that Dragon is the father of Luffy, and that D are rare like some legendary pokemon. Woldn't that be enough for an assumption? -
Are you one of those foolish people that honestly thought Ace was going to die?
Yeah, Ace really had the potential to do many more things in the story. It's not too surprising he survives this. Whitebeard however, I really can't see what purpose he could serve if he lived. I don't think he'd retire from being a pirate like Silvers, but who knows.

Woldn't that be enough for an assumption?Hmm… who knows. Matter of guessing on our part. It all depends on how common the name "Monkey" is. I'm sure the WG could spin it to the public/lower rank marines that it's just a coincidence if they wanted to, but who knows. It could go either way.

i doubt that garps full name is a hidden fact. only we the readers were shielded from this info. anyway i fully expect sengoku to take the fall from this whole disastrous event. the world government left it all in his hands and it looks like he is going to fail. sure whitebeard might die but sengoku failed to execute the son of the pirate king. they may of taken whitebeard down but his children will live on and continue. the whole world will end up looking down on the world government after this incident. i'm guessing luffy will become public enemy number 1 after this is all done. this is why i think either jimbei or hancock might join the crew. after this the world government will no doubt unleash a ton of very powerful guys to go after luffy. luffy is going to need somebody very powerful like that initially to withstand the onslaught that is about to come. then again the remains of the whitebeard pirates and their allies might end up shielding luffy from that onslaught that will be coming his way. maybe this is the start of luffy building a huge coalition of allies that will back him up as he goes further into the new world.

Moment of the DAY!!
The key getting its ass blasted!!
Priceless.
-
4 words:
epic chapter is epic
-
Ace is alive & ready to kick ass. Oh yes. Turning point for WB's alliance.
-
you know if whitebeard dies then i wonder if ace and the whitebeard pirates will end up staying at fishman island for a while. assuming whitebeard dies they will need to regroup and decide what they will do and if they are going to stay together. the whitebeard allies might also come along as well since they would want to know what they will do. the supernovas will also be at fishman island as well so i wonder if there will be any alliances made with some of them. blackbeard is no doubt going to travel to the new world as well so i wonder if he will go the fishman island route or will he go through mariejoa. if he goes to fishman island with a bunch of prisoners then fishman island is going to be nuts. add luffy and the strawhats and fishman island might be the best arc ever. although oda adding that comment that the new movie was luffy's last adventure as a 17 year old might mean that luffy will be out of commission for a while and he might end up missing the after math and only wake up to the chaos that will no doubt follow.
