@onemoment:
So wait, you're saying that they cannot save Alabasta. That fishmen can never be defeated by inferior humans, that no one can beat a god and that mere pirates can't beat trained agents like the CP9. You're also saying that you're using the same logic as a small-minded by design manga character as a basis of a point. And let me put this all in context.
Horrible examples. None of those things even come close to the scale of what's happening right now. I think Luffy is going to play a major part in this war, one way or another. It's just no going to have to do with strength, because Oda has outlined time and time again that Luffy is pretty much fodder to most of the named characters in this war.
Crocodile says "you can't save Alabasta" to prove that he's A) an asshole and B) an ignorant bastard who tries to crush people's hopes. You're one of the few people I've seen who try to imitate that, and I find it amazing that so many people are as smart as manga characters designed to be ignorant and small minded beyond reality, or that people can't get that these statement are not facts, but rather tools used to suggest that the situation is hopeless before it's eventually solved. It's soul crushing really. Nyon is a general desenter, we've have one in every manga. Plus she's not an expert this, she knows as much as anyone who's heard the rumors, which is actually less then we know!
I'm just being realistic, Luffy is not going to smack down an Admiral. Everyone realizes this, even Luffy himself. The gap between them is just to big right now, even if he suddenly got a grasp of his haki nothing is going to change against people as strong as the Admirals. Is Luffy going to surpass expectations? Of course, there's no question about that. He's just not going to magically go super sayajin and fight an Admiral, Oda is a much better writer than that.
But all this is stalling me main point, this is a sucky ,mantra to repeat (and I say repeat cause you don't understand it) because an ant would not be noticed in this war. Nyon was talking about Luffy getting swept up in the chaos, crushed, and ultimately killed in a hopeless struggle. Yes, Luffy's been beaten to hell, but this mantra falls apart because Luffy has gotten noticed, and to this point is still an active participate in this war.
I never said anything about Luffy being unnoticed and I never said anything about Luffy dying.
Heck, mainly I'm just upset by this choice of words. Ease up "ant in a storm" doesn't fit and you can be more creative then repeating Nyon, who isn't even that much of a character.
Ant in a storm fits perfectly. You're just outright ignoring the manga now. Nyon said it, Iva said it, Kizaru said it and hell even Whitebeard said it. It's time to take the hint, Luffy is NOT going to magically power up and harm an Admiral, it's just not gonna happen. It'd be horrible writing and just be downright stupid. We'll see Luffy smackdown the Admirals eventually, and the en of the Grandline.
And frankly, why are so many people even bringing up Luffy's inferiority, or the admirals superiority in this war (same thing I guess). That's barely even the point of this story! It's obvious where these guys stand in terms of strength, and my comments are just trying to get across that frankly, nothing it fucking impossible here! Why do we even need a section of the forum explaining that Luffy can't beat the admirals? Why are a good of peopel acting like intellectuals to explain the scientific reasons Luffy (or the other members of his team, cause come to think of it…same difference right?) that Luffy can't beat an admiral? Speed? Bullshit! Ao Kiji beats Luffy because he's a better fighter and Luffy won't win until he figures out a better way to fight. That's really the only fact that's important, this other stuff is mucking up a rather simple concept.
**I keep bringing up Luffy's inferiority because some of you are acting as if Luffy is almost as strong as an Admiral. Which he isn't, he's nowhere near them and haki alone is not going to magically close the gap.
You seem to have this habit of reading a post, and then typing 700 words that having nothing to do with said post. Luffy isn't harming an Admiral is this war, that's all there is to it.**
