@aegisrawks:
You know what they could do? Put it as a Special Feature AMV that comes in a VERY Filler Filled set. That way theyll convince filler haters to buy them!
As we've discussed earlier, though, Funi doesn't always seem to know what is filler and what isn't filler. It may have just been Apis' actor wishing for a longer assignment (and therefore a steady paycheck) but they did suggest they wished Apis had joined them.
As for Family not being ripped from the DVD, I had no idea Kaizoku went through THAT much trouble to get that ending created, if what EvilGamerX says was true about it not being on the DVD (unless it was on the DVD with credits and they just recreated it using the other DVDs). We'll see what happens when it gets released - I'll be disappointed if it's not but I will still eventually get the set anyways.
As for it being a special feature, the OP sets have been pretty bare bones as far as extras go. We get the 12-14 episodes, textless openings and endings, one commentary, trailers (although I suppose they are a "special feature" they aren't typically why I buy DVDs), so I'd be surprised if it was included a special feature. Textless openings and endings seem pretty standard for anime DVDs these days and commentary is pretty common, too, but not on everything (and other series, like Ouran, may have three or four commentaries per set).
My guess? I think with OP being such a long series Funimation probably needs to sell the sets as cheaply as possible for fans to continue buying them - even if someone really like the show it's a financial strain to keep up with the DVDs, so having a lower MSRP helps on the fans end. Extra features probably mean extra money as well (coding, editing together video, etc), so minimizing special features (one commentary and the textless openings and endings) is probably how they're keeping the cost down.
