There's a seedless kind of grape that you can even eat the skin [most Japanese grapes are eaten peeled]. There is nothing as euphoric as that. Love it. Seedless watermelons and seedless persimones(sp) are just as good. In the same vein if they made shelless crabs and shelless shrimp you could just devour the whole thing. Boneless fish would be great too. Cause sometimes they pierce the inside of your mouth. Boneless eel would make me happy too. But there's just one thing I'd hate.

Chopper's saying his usual "Doctor!! Oh, that's me." but with a feminine speaking style.
Robin's saying her "What a cruel thing to do" line in a masculine speaking style.

Nami is swedish?
I would have placed money on her being inspired by Ireland, since she's pretty much the One Piece equivalent of a binge drinking, hot-tempered Leprechaun on high heels, who's always looking for the gold.

But the stereotypes about swedes could fit afterall: they are said to be very selfconfident, good looking and pretty promiscuous..maybe those are the stereotypes Oda had in mind! ;)
Luffy, the brazilian jungle monkey, fits great!
And Usopp is confirmed to be from Africa.
Expected him to stem either from Latin America or North Africa. It's the cute curly hair! ^^ (Now if Oda would just confirm him to be from Tunisia… )
Robin had more of those Greek vibes for me: The almost classical greek nose, the stoic personality, the love for ancient ruins…But Russia is a nice choice too.

My editors change from time to time but the very first thing I say to them never changes, "Don't even try to give me any ideas." If it goes well, it's because of your effort, if you fail, it's your own fault. That's what I like. So long as it isn't related to the main story I'm always looking for ideas. Like the Crew Member with animals covers [between mini-arcs]. I'm looking for gags for that. If you were to write me something like, "Please draw this character doing such andsuch with this animal.", I'd love to draw it.

That's a typical Oda, he really has this great attitude toward his work, deserves my respect! But awesome invitation for the Fans to reach in their ideas there!

I love the girl Usopp…but the others...

Luffy looks exactly like Nami, Nami has Luffy's face, Chopper doesn't look like a girl, Robin looks like Zoro, and Sanji and Franky barely look different.

I'm amused that Luffy's Brazilian, I think it fits well. Honestly, when I first started reading, I always thought of Luffy as latino, and huh, there you go. Now I just wonder what Roger and Ace would be…

By the way, even though the layout is questionable, and I liked the cover to begin with, it looks REALLY good. The scans don't give the color justice. The spine however is up there with 38 in nightmare fuel.

Nobody at Ibiza or Mallorca is shy no matter where they come from. And basing your understanding on a certain culture on experiences made at Ibiza or Mallorca is a really bad idea. Or are you telling me that you believe that the German culture is well represented by the Mallorca tourists?

It was never Oda's intention to change the symbol with the manji sign.

About Nami: According to early SBS, Oda is actually a fan of Sweden with our vikings and music, so I think he knows what he's talking about at some, undistinguished level. I don't think he's been going over-stereotypical, because personalities vary in all countries. :)

Stupid Nazis. Turning the Buddhist symbol of enlightenment into their war flag, by flipping it upside down. Same thing for the upside down pentagram. The right side up version is supposed to represent harmony and perfection.
