Really early chapter. I realized it was up when I was in the middle of watching Episode 7, and stopped to go read/post. Meh.

It's not like I predicted some amazing plot twist or something, but I still totally called it. The council hates Gerard as much as the fanbase. He trolled them harder than anyone.
- Is this scene intended to mirror Erza's arrest after the Erigor arc? I don't think it's going to have the same conclusion, but it's fairly ironic in its own right.
- Potentially setting up the government as the villains for the next arc? I've wanted this since the military first showed up in Chapter 1.
Aww, Erza is there for Gerard. How sh'weet. I is touched by her love.
- Remember back when Erza was a strict, rough girl who violently enforced the rules, and frightened her friends even more than her enemies? Yeah, I vaguely remember that too.
Was Rahal using Dark Writing? I thought Fried has come out of nowhere and gone traitor for a second there.

This is one of the better chapters we've had in some time. While technically the fact we now know the council has reformed was the highlight of the chapter… I can't get past the fact we learned Richard/Hoteye is actually Wally's older brother! XD I'm curious to see how the next chapter or two play out.

Awesome the chapter is out so early. It was a very transition like chapter wrapping up the oracion seis arc and starting a new one. Hot eye finding out his brother was free was a nice scence, if you think about it he probably still thought he was in slave labour.. and poor happy is just not getting any love.
Now as for next arc, saving gerard? Hopefully the arc can reveal the mysteries behind him because there is quite a bit i want to know

While I'm surprised that Wally is Hoteye's brother(should have seen that a mile away), the emtoional impact did not hit me as hard as the giants in Enies Lobby.

Atleast Hiro is trying for foreshadow old characters somehow….

The orphans kind of sucked. I remember Wally for shooting Natsu in the mouth, but that didn't really accomplish anything. Simon was a pretty cool dude, and he didn't lose his mind. Shame he's one of the few actual confirmed deaths in Fairy Tail. The other orphan was the annoying, whining youngest child who just wanted Mommy Erza and Daddy Gerard to get back together again. I can't even remember the other orphan, because Trinity Raven was just a whole lot cooler.

The orphans were lame, outside of Simon, who jobbed early. I was never more relieved than to find out they wouldn't be joining Fairy Tail.

I love Fairy Tail, it is definitly not a rip off. The story for Fairy Tail is so epic i wont be suprised if in the future these two butt heads as the best manga ever, each are unique in thier own way they just have the same art style ><

Umm, no. IMO Rave (Mashima's previous shounen) is definitely better than FT.

We're still in the resolution portion of the previous arc leading into the next arc. If Gerard leaves the story, then comes back in, (unexpectedly… ha) it counts.

We're still in the ending/intermission phase, its not onto the next arc quite yet. But I'll add it to the list.

The interesting part is, I tried doing a list like this for Naruto. Which, despite all its predictibility once an arc gets going, DOES in fact vary things up enough (or stpidly enough) thats its hard to tell where exactly its going.

It's obvious that rave was a growing experiment started off crappy but ended up being awesome.

At least the major villians in rave were introduced at the begining of the arc they took in and most of them actually had personality.

Zero would have personality if brain would say something following to what zero said a split personality disorder. Since that's what the character had, if mashima wrote it into the manga it could of been used as good story and gag dialouge but instead brain was pushed to the side and zero came out with his "destroy this and that" mentality. I have no problem with fuck nut crazy villians but I just wish he had a little more to offer than: BLOW TEH PLACE WIT MAH LAZA!!!.

The best villian from RAVE IMO was hardner.

Episode 8: by far this was the best episode simple because they actually showed natsu hitting someone and not having it be: final fantasy quick action scene followed by: far off explotion.

Just saw episode 8. It's good to know my favorite arc was handled with the same terrible care that we've seen up until now. Hopefully the next episode will provide some entertainment, while it's not rushing through the manga.

Do we have an episode count yet? If it's only set for 13 episodes, they're either going to finish on Galuna island, or make up their own final arc.

On the subject of Gerald there's only one thing I really don't like about him, and that's the way Erza acts around him. He turns my favorite character in the series into lovely dovey mush. Instead of the awesome badass she is.

As for episode 8 of the anime. Natsu not having that same recycled scene to finish off enemies was promising at first. I was like yay! finally not repeat scenes, but then lullaby awoke and they starting spaming the seals and recycle animation and I quickly got disapointed again.

I really really doubt that we're only going to get this in 13 episodes. It just won't add up.

And episode 8 was good. I actually like the fact that the animation staff extended the fight against the lullaby whereas in the manga, he was there to gloat for a couple of pages and is then offed just like that. In addition, the music used for the whole scene was awesome!

Next week looks like filler. However, it is not original filler. It will cover the Happy's Little Job segments.

That's a typical Shonen thing. Sanji becomes a sap in Nami/Robin's presence, as does Hancock in Luffy's; Rukia becomes useless in her brother's presence, and Hinata becomes butter soup in Naruto's presence. It's not limited to just Fairy Tail.

You do know that there is a difference between the lovey-dovey/mushy-gushy stuff being apart of the characters antics and personality that they tend to have and those same things that a character isn't expected to do making them out of character to an extent. It's not that shonen, in fact Shoujo series do that too. And some Josei. And some Seinen.

Mashima got to organize this story and execute emotions at the right time, the story comes off corny right now. it will not have a bright future if continues like this. gerard just makes me tired. good bad good bad again good again.

Jeral is now public enemy #1. But, if Erza and the other Fairy Tail guild members start to show sympathy to Jeral to the point of busting him free, they not only risk becoming criminals too, but losing their legal status as a guild as well. If anything, it could lead to the government shutting down the Fairy Tail guild or demote it to a dark guild status. Food for thought. :blink:

^Or Mashima will make it so that the whole guild goes to his trial and is all "Let him go! He is Nakamaz!!!!1!111!!!" in unison or something like that. Sounds like something that Mashima would pull off.

Or maybe Erza might do what Natsu did when she was called to trial. Except she'll say something so outrageous, that one of the people in the council will go "Will you take responsibility and the consequences for whatever this man has done and will do?" with Erza going yeah and then they let go of

That's been my dream scenario for Fairy Tail ever since Phantom Lord. I don't think its quite at that point though. I can't imagine the entire guild taking the fall for the sake of Gerard right now.

Honestly, I'm enjoying the series so far(and could really care less about the fate of Gerard) but I really want to see some of these lingering plot threads addressed. I don't want to see another dragon slayer to show up and just say "oh the dragon who taught me is missing as well".

I agree with Eternal Flame on this one; Erza's normally a strong independent character and one of the few female badasses who remains so throughout the series. To see her change that much whenever Gerard or any lookalike is around is slightly jarring, as it seems to go against what she's been established as up until this point.

Agree with this. It irk me everytime people use "It's typical Shonen", "because it's Shonen", "It's Shonen rules" to back up their argument. Seriously, every demographic shares and use the same typical traits, it's not just Shonen. I know I could find a lot of typical stuff when I read Seinen or other demographic.

The only thing the mangaka could do to avoid being labeled generic and cliche' is by making the typical thing looks fresh and interesting. Toriyama, Araki, Togashi, and even Oda manage to do this brilliantly. Mashima, obviously aren't that good on that area because he prefers to do it ~~gerrad~~generic/cliche' way in Fairy Tail.
