I wonder how Zoro would make it!
After his original head/armband gets destroyed, he'll trim that coat down and it'll be his new head/armband.

And the one who beats Zoro and becomes the best swordfighter after him has to buy himself a new coat.

All this talk about Moria's appearance 20 years ago got me thinking as if there's not more behind then we might think at first. Plenty of people already said that the scar he didn't have back then and his body might be a result of his fight with Kaidoh, in sort of developing a lazy ass "you do it" attitude to let others do his work and getting fat that way. However there might be another reason for this entire development.
I think it is possible that Moria didn't just grow fat because he simply lost his will to fight himself but rather him having no other choice. To be more precise, it could be that Kaidoh has an ability to deform a persons body and that Moria as he is now is a direct result of it. Such an ability would actually come in very handy in a fight. Of course Kaidoh would need to have a punchline in the sort of "you're already
deaddisabled" then.^^===
Another thing I'd just like to point out is Arlongs wherabaouts. I mean we've witnessed Jinbei calling a school of whalesharks a couple of months ago. Couldn't Arlong do something similar in order to have some sea creatures attack the marine ship he was imprisoned on? It doesn't have to be whalesharks but with all that fishmen aboard they should have been able to call something to help them. No?

All of the strong pirates have specially designed outfit with patterns that noone else has, the only 2 that share the same pattern are mihawk and rayleigh.

Well he had that sea creature under his command but would someone like Arlong have the same kind of bond that Jimbei has with them. They were Jimbei's friends not subordinates.
Besides Hattchi said they were all still prisoners of the marines. -

I don't think so as this is a trait that's more akin to merfolk than it is to fishmen. Fishmen, in general, don't get along with normal sea creatures but rather wish to dominate them, unlike mermen that attempt to live in harmony. Crocodile illustrated this point here by telling Jinbei that it was very strange to see a fishman who got along so well with sea creatures, and that he was definitely an exception in that regard.
This idea was first illustrated in an SBS segment.
@Stephen's:D: In the Cover Page Stories, there are "Camie the Mermaid" and "Octopako the Fishwoman". How are the races of mermaids and fish(wo)men
related?
O: As you can see here, the ones with the bottom half of a fish are "mermaids". The ones with fish-like upper halves are "fishmen". To
illustrate the difference with an octopus, look to the right. (Octopus Fishman, Octopus Merman)
The difference in their natures is that mermaids try to be friends with other fish, while the fishmen try to rule the fish.
That's about right. Of course, their habitats are different too. Well, you'll be able to see if they ever appear in the story
again. (chapter 208) -

Take note that when Jinbei called forth the whale sharks, he surprised Crocodile, with Crocodile noting that Jinbei isn't a typical fishman.

Maybe that's another thing that Luffy will help resolve, the relationship between the fishmen and merfolk. Kind of like how did so with the Skypieans and Shandians by ringing the bell and defeating Enel.

Also when he resolve the conflict between Alabasta's royal guards and the rebels by defeating Crocodile.

Kizaru is a robot
he was not promoted as a admiral
he was never mentioned as a marine in the past
he was not seen with the marines 20 years ago
where the hell did he come from? and how the hell did he get to be a admiral?
answer: Vegapunk's lab -
wahhhhhhhhhhhh i missed that

Buggy vs. Mihawk II will be brutal if it happens. Mainly because none of Mihawk's attacks will work on Buggy, eventually he'll be pulling this face off when he realizes the truth.

It seems that merfolk can summon fish/whales, but ordinary fishman cannot.
I'd like to know what is the connection between Jinbei and Arlong for Jinbei to know what happened between the two and why he feels guilty for Arlong's actions.
I'd also like to know where Arlong is imprisoned as Luffy didn't come across him in Impel Down, kind of thinking that between that and the whole Jinbei thing Arlong may appear again.Take note that when Jinbei called forth the whale sharks, he surprised Crocodile, with Crocodile noting that Jinbei isn't a typical fishman.
Maybe he's half merman?

@Stephen's:
Luffy: Wow, that's crazy!! And there are seven of those guys?!
The Seven Armed Seas are amazing!!Yosaku: The problem is one of those Seven Armed Seas.
The leader of the Fishman Pirates, "Jinbeh"!!(Note: In Japanese, mermaid (or merman) is spelled ningyo (man fish). However, these characters in One Piece are called gyojin (fish man).)
Luffy: Fishmen? Haven't met any of those yet!
Sanji: Fishmen, eh? Fishman Island is supposed to be a famous spot on the Grand Line.
And I hear the legends of beautiful mermaids all the time.Yosaku: In exchange for Jinbeh's participation in the Seven Armed Seas, he has set someone terrible loose in East Blue.
Maybe Jinbei was disappointed with Arlong action causing chaos at East Blue and enslaving the human race when he along with Whitebeard was trying to make peace between human race and mermen/fishmen race?
-
Ah, I see. Sorry but since I've watched One Piece on-and-off over the course of several months I have a hard time remembering details like those.
I'm thinking that Arlong probably went crazy-prejudiced against humans after having to deal with discrimination against fishmen. -
Yeah, after the revelation of the significance meaning behind the tattoo at Chapter 521, it's pretty clear what motivates Arlong to attack Nami's village. Especially since he always degrades human race calling them "puny humans" and claimed Fishmen race are superior than human race.

I'm kind of wondering if Arlong will appear again, or if he's doomed to be a symbol/metaphor for human-fishmen prejudice.

I hope he does, and has gotten strong enough so that he can be a good 1v1 match with Nami, I'm sure she would enjoy hitting him with a thunder lance tempo
-
arlong himself i doubt..
but jinbei already showed that we will hear more about him
-
I don't think Arlong will make another physical appearance in the manga again, only in flashbacks. He is most likely going to spend the rest of his life in prison.

It is interesting to note how that would play out, especially since characters that reappear aren't quite the same as their first appearance. I can't see Arlong reforming, but he definitely wouldn't feel as threatening as before.

Yeah, I also think the only reappearance Arlong will makes is during flashback. Most likely during Jinbei flashback before he disbanded his crew to join the Shichibukai.
Unlike Buggy and Crocodile, Arlong doesn't seems to have any more potential to be develop into the main storyline. He is evil character and he hates human, let's just let him stay that way. After all, he killed Nami's foster mother. I don't want him to makes a reappearance, turned good and helped Luffy/SH. Having him fights Nami/SH for the second time is also not a good idea. It will makes OP world looks small with repetitive characters and repetitive idea.
-
The Arlong arc and Arlong himself are some of my favorite stuff in OP, but I think it wouldn't do good to have him come back. He's going to spend the rest of the series in prison.

You bring up some good points. It probably would be best if he only re-appeared in flashback, especially after we already went and revisited Hachi so intimately. In my mind seeing Nami strike him with a thunder-lance still seems refreshing though, lol. However while we're on the subject of old east blue character, I most certainly hope, and can't wait until, Gin makes a reappearance. He's too bad ass to have died from that poison!
-
It depends how Oda puts it, I suppose. He does love to bring old topics back - although I suppose Hachi already filled that niche with Arlong park. I think he'll be doomed to be a metaphor for the strained human-fishmen relations like I mentioned before..
-
Here are two genious theories I came up with.
1-Crocodile and Doflamingo are gay.Proof-Doflamingo said he's jealous that Crocodile traded him for Whitebeard:wub:. OR Croc and Dofla never got to beat each other,so trading one of them for Whitebeard of off rules of fair play.Coz Shirohige is unbeatable. You'll lose but it's kinda ok-that Newgate after all.And Dofla thinks that's a cheap run from the real duel.2-Franky's father is in Whitebeard's crew. You can see it in the spread
http://mangastream.com/read/one_piecel/566-5/11 center of the bottom wide panel. -
I figured it was Frankys brother only cause that guy looks almost as young as Franky in that picture.
-
I made sure to scan the pages here when it was revealed, but if someone already thought of it, my apologies.
So, Ivankov has stated that Crocodile has a third weakness besides Seastone and Water. Later on, Jozu attacks him, but assuming that he was in his Logia form, it still hurt him. I don't know if it's said that Jozu has Haki, but could the third weakness be Diamonds? Yeah, I know it doesn't make much sense, but as a former Ruler, Ivankov might have a couple on his/her person, and after all, Diamonds are a girl's best friend, and he has become one in the past.
Well, it does sound stupid, but hey, why not?
-
I don't think Ivankov meant a literal weakness that'd affect Crocodile in a fight.
It came off more like a personal secret used as blackmail that would keep him in line and prevent any form of betrayal during the escape from Impel Down.
-
When you put it that way, it does make more sense then. Well, nevermind on this one.
-
I find it hard to believe crocodile getting beaten by a blackmail
that implies that crocodile has sensitive side…...... -
This is my first thread and I'm kind of new so i'm not sure if this should go in the Shichibukai thread.
So, for some reason, I think Crocodile might be Whitebeard's actual son. I don't have anything to back this up, but I just get the feeling that's the case. The only thing I could really think of is the two's similar facial expressions at times and the fact that there was an opening for 2nd division captain when the Shichibukai were first formed, so maybe Croc left Whitebeard then for some reason.
Kind of dumb I guess, but w/e. I guess other Croc and Shirohige stuff could go here too
-
put this in the Theories that don't deserve their own thread (Spoilers HOOOO!) thread ^^

It has been done… XD

I really want to believe that Thatch and Blackbeard faked Thatch's death. They found someone who looked like him changed him a bit and killed him. Maybe Thatch got crazy when WB decided to make Ace the king and he decided to join the dark side. He is currently hiding under Stronger right now and he will be the one who will give WB the last shot….and then WB will say sth like "I am glad you are alive son !" . And I hope he is a Double Diamble Jmble fighter.

While I agree that this is definitely what I take the secret to be I wonder why Crocodile doesn't use the chance to chop Ivankov's head off when the latter isn't paying attention. Wouldn't that be the perfect way to keep the secret a secret? Or does he think such an attempt would be futile?

It is heavily implied Croc and Ikanov have a past and i believe that they were friendly enough at least at one point. Ivankov is kinda, it's hard to put into words, he's not concerned for Croc but he's interested in what he is doing, I beleive that if Croc was in trouble Ivankov would save him and vice versa although Croc would'nt admit to it.On the ship Croc was quick to slag off Ivankov. Maybe i'm just overthinking about it though and it's just mutual respect for each other.
What i'm trying to say is that i don't think it's fear from Croc's point of view but some kind of past relationship wheter it was good or bad.

I've been thinking Thatch could be alive as well(even if you're not serious). Simply because his name is Thatch, another supposed last name for Blackbeard. His beard just happens to be black too. Its also odd he could kill Thatch and get away clean before anybody in the crew noticed. Staged death makes his escape make more sense.
-

I am totally serious.

I agree, I think that could be a pretty interesting element to throw in later in the story, Franky having some sort of family issue or revelation could give his character some focus when many of the other SH's are accomplishing their dreams, instead of Franky just twiddling his thumbs being like "well I'm still sailin around on my dream ship, living the dream." Not that it would be bad that way, I just think it could be interesting.
-
Lola's mother is beautiful… woot woot (> '3')>
-
That would be pretty funny, actually.
-
I am totally serious.
His desing looks really less generic in the most recent flashback, so I'm just starting to consider this too, the guy actually fits in BB crew, being name after a real pirate just like the others (Even if it's the same as the Shichibukai) and having the strength of a commander, it would be a real blow to both, WB and Ace at the end of this War if happen.
-
So I'm not really sold on this theory but I've considered it for a few weeks now and I think it's plausible so I'm going to post it.
I think there's a decent chance that Luffy can hit a logia user with gear 3. Why? Logia users tend to "scatter" when they get hit and wind up not taking damage. If one were to be hit by something larger than themselves, however, "scattering" wont really do much. Even in elemental form, their entire body will be pushed (violently) just the same as a normal person. That type of shock might cause damage all the same. There's no real good basis for the theory, except that we've never seen a logia user avoid an attack with a very large area.
The best example so far has been Joz's attack on Crocodile. On one hand it could be hakition. On the other hand, though, it may just be that the attack was too large to avoid by phasing.
Just thought I'd throw that out there.
-
Might be possible.
On the other hand it is more probable that the "scatter" is more nullifying to the attack than that. Imagine punching through fire, it would only "cloak" itself around your fist.
The exception to this behaviour might be Aokiji, as he is more solid than the others, but still. -

I thought the whole point to logia's was that you hit the element not the person and that is why it does'nt do damage. For example when Luffy punches Smoker, the white smoke does'nt scatter what simply happens is that Luffy punches white smoke and it seems to scatter as smoke is not solid, you cannot touch it. As was mentioned in the above post luffy can hit aokiji. This is because you can hit ice but you can't for example hit fire.
To answer your question i don't think it matters how large an object hits fire for example, the fire it'self is'nt going to be touched.
That's my 2 cents. -
Well, the idea being, like with fire, that cutting a flame wont change it at all. However taking taking an object that extends around the entire flame will actually move it. Such a thing could be considered causing an impact to the flame depending on how you want to view it. I'm only saying that it's possible until we see otherwise.
