I think it was talking about Hachi. He was once kind of a villain(Fought Zoro and was part of Arlong's crew) but turned good and could go with the SHs into the New World.

He's probably sticking with Caimie, unless all 3 (Papagg) joined Idk.
-
I don't know why people keep saying Bentham. He's NOT a boss character. It's not like Galdino in little Garden who had his master plan and manipulated events behind the scenes and was the main threat in the arc. Bentham was just another opponent in Arabasta, the boss of that arc was Crocodile.
How was Boa aboss character? She did nothing really… If 2 chapter bosses are as well in this thread than...
What HaxEye said.
-
The other forgotten name would be Bellamy.
I suppose so. I brought up Wapol because he was featured in a cover story, so we can assume that he'll reappear at some point for some purpose.
For the record, I don't think this will happen. I'm just bringing up the possibility. If it's as a crewmember, I still lean towards Jinbei as I always have.
-
Actually, according to Sanji (Oda) himself, characters classify as boss characters just by being non-cannon fodder. When he got rid of the Puffing Tom cart with T-bone and the marines, he stated something like: "50 fodder and one boss less to worry about".
As such, characters such as Mr. 2 or Perona fits into this just as well as the rest of the above.
No he didn't :/
-
I'm laughing now at all the people who said Hancock and Jimbei were impossible. HILARIOUS.
-
He's probably sticking with Caimie, unless all 3 (Papagg) joined Idk.
Well, I figure Camie would go too and they'd stick together through Fishman Island. He'd then leave but still be considered a crewmate/nakama like Vivi is.
-
Bon Kurei and Perona can't really be defined as a "boss" character in any stretch of imagination.
Jinbei, Hancock, Croc, Buggy, Mr 3, etc all could.
lolwat? Explain yourself.
-
@Kaikyou
She was the boss of the Amazon Lily arc and petrified the arc friendlies/allies to Luffy (Margaret, Sweetpea, and Aphelandra) and ordered Luffy's execution. Personally I think it'll be her.Correct. If I might add, until the turning point where Luffy actually protected the Gorgon Sisters' secret everybody expected that Luffy would fight against Hancock next after defeating Mariegold and Sandersonia because of the simple fact that well, she was the boss and main antagonist of the Amazon Lily arc up to that point.
And yeah, it's very likely for her to be the one to team up temporarily as many (not me) predicted for quite a while now.
lolwat? Explain yourself.
Mr. 3 is often considered as a boss character because going by islands alone, he was some sort of main boss character to defeat at Little Garden. At least I've often heard people argument that way so I'm sure that's why Galdino's name was there. Hancock I've just described in my previous paragraph. As for Jinbei, I'm sure that the poster had that oyabun thing in mind when considering him a boss character since he never was any sort of antagonist leave alone a main antagonist. Hope that helps.
-
Gin and Krieg also need to appear again…
-

I love you… I mean I agree. =]
-
lolwat? Explain yourself.
Seriously?
Jinbei was called "Oyabun" (boss) the first time he appeared.
Hancock is the leader of an entire country.
Mr 3 was the main antagonist of the Little Garden arc.
All three characters could easily have the word "boss" attached to them.
-
What if Oda changed his mind? As Greg said it was last year…
-
I think we can say with 100% certainty that it won't be the admirals or sentomaru.
That depends in two factors: Vengapunk's Loyalty (marines, himself, WG) and Sentomaru's Loyalty (marines or Vengapunk)
-
Hmm… I see. We don't share the same opinion of what a boss is. Never mind. Be on your way.
-
lolwat? Explain yourself.
Jinbei is an obvious Luffy ally (although this oyabun=boss stuff is stretching what Oda meant imo) so I think it goes without saying that he's a possibility. Hancock is not only a former arc villain but Luffy hugged her like someone he considered a nakama and has arguably helped him more than anyone else in this whole save Ace saga, plus we've seen very little of her haki abilities (not one definitive named haki attack) and unless she joins I can't see how she'd logically reappear in the NW which is one thing against Jinbei is that he could always join the WB pirates and reappear later on.
Mr. 3 is an ex arc villain counting Little Garden and he helped Luffy as well with the wax champion, although he could also go with Buggy.
-
Hmm… I see. We don't share the same opinion of what a boss is. Never mind. Be on your way.
Seeing how Oda has a habit of using ambiguous statements to get his audience to assume the wrong thing, you shouldn't make any assumptions of what "boss" means. Any definition that works should be considered.
-
It's gonna be Kuma.
-
What if Oda changed his mind? As Greg said it was last year…
Then he'd say so because when Mr. Oda makes declarations, regardless of how much time passes, they come true.
The man probably has the next three to four arcs with the main points in his head and it has to be something drastic that changes his ideas. Even the ending that he came up with ten years ago is still the same.
-
Wait a second, wasn't Cricket also the boss of the Saruyama Alliance? And weren't they looking for a new dream to achieve? Damn, I knew the appearance of Shojo and Masira respectively the lack of Cricket on the calendar my signature is based on was some kind of foreshadowing. Just didn't quite think for this.
-
Mr.3 and hancock can't be considered as bosses…
-

Yeah, it's lot of the minor stuff that can and most probably are changed, edited or come up with in a shorter amount of time but the bigger points pretty much seem to always stand and will make it into the story in one way or the other, sooner or later.
Mr.3 and hancock can't be considered as bosses…
Please explain yourself why not.
-

Just like how we shouldn't assume that this partner will become a crew member, right?
-
Mr.3 and hancock can't be considered as bosses…
Go back to being spongebob, you're completley unreconizable without it.
ANd others have already explained why those two can be considered bosses.
Final opponent of Little Garden and ruler of an island, respectivley. Boa was the boss of Amazon Lilly, Luffy just didn't beat her up with his fists, but with his respect and kindness.
-
Jinbei is an obvious Luffy ally (although this oyabun=boss stuff is stretching what Oda meant imo) so I think it goes without saying that he's a possibility. Do you thought that Croc, Mr1, Mr 3 and Mr 2 would have reappeared in that way once again?
So why should she reappear… just because you like herand want to see her? I want to see plenty of other character as well once again but don't say Oh god they have to join.
And to say she helped much than Jinbei or even Mr. 2 is a bit far stretched.
And she still have offically her status and it was hinted that she will keep it
Hell Vivi is a nakama and she didn't reappear till yet. Just cover-stories.
But enough we have a second next nakama thread and I don't want to read all this crazy theories of fanboys once again. I really want Croc to join because he have to be in the story and I can't see him reappearing in the NW. I will write a theory... like my funny Croc = WB abadoned daughter who was changed into a man.
So please close thrad or merge this one with the other shitty one and we begin to go in circles once again
-
Just like how we shouldn't assume that this partner will become a crew member, right?
Yes, that's also true. It's a possibility but not a certainty.
Hmm, he works too. Good catch.
-
Mr.3 and hancock can't be considered as bosses…
If anything they are some of the more obvious bosses considering they follow the old arc boss definition that many use when talking about Shonen.
-
Mr.3 and hancock can't be considered as bosses…
How can a guy that almost killed multiple crew members and nearly forced Zoro to chop his feet off not be called a boss?
Hancock was a boss too, she very willing to kill Luffy before things played out the way they did.
-
@Thousand:

But he is free to change them whenever he feels it would benefit the story?

Here is my speculation: regarding his problems with guessing how much time it will takes him to finish an arc he might think that the arc he planned to setup a join of Jimbei or Boa might be too long and might drop it :)
No speculations aside i simply can't imagine how he will fill the strength gap to make jimbei join and not unnecessarly stretching the actual arc.
Even the ending that he came up with ten years ago is still the same.
That's the only constant here. No?
Please explain yourself why not.
Well to me a boss is more someone like doflamingo crocodile or capone. Hancock is an empress right? Not exactly what i would call boss.
Correct me if i'm wrong but if Mr.3 is a boss then so is Mr.2 Mr.1 and everyone in the Baroque works that can command some minions? Well better crocodile then… Everything else would be confusing?@robbybevard:

Because I don't think Oda would have a Shichibukai former or current not reappear in the story and plus I think having Luffy hug her and actually comment to himself about how she's useful (Luffy rarely does the inner reflection thing) is a pretty big flag imo, and how many times am I going to have to explain these things to you? And had Hancock not snuck Luffy into ID Jinbei and Mr.2 would be in there same positions before Luffy arrived because they wouldn't have had his help, plus she gave Luffy Ace's freaking key.
Quit acting butt hurt, in all honesty I think only Hancock and Jinbei are likely at all, just Hancock more likely than Jinbei who has multiple ways he can reappear and wouldn't have to be stuck on a isolated island in the first part of the GL like Hancock if he didn't join Luffy.
-
IMO.
Mr 3 has a very good chance of joining. Although I can't seem to find a job for him in the SH pirate crew nor a dream for him to accomplish. Hmm…
-
I wonder, since this event is most propably going to take place it at least two years (considering that Fishman Island most probably will be a large arc again), wouldn't that make Kinjishi also a former boss then? ;)
-
@Thousand:
No he didn't :/
He did in the official Swedish translation. Turns out it was different in the fan-made One Manga translation, though.
Oh well. I still think minor bosses count.
-

You're having fun aren't you?

He can be the gardener that takes care of the trees and bushes and mowes the grass, :D He was the boss of little garden his dream is to grow lots of beautiful plants.
-
He can be the gardener that takes care of the trees and bushes and mowes the grass, :D
Haha, that job reminds me of Inazuma.
-
So partner = nakama?
Elsewhere the possibilities are quite endless, i mean technically croc was luffys partner lately too.
Ahwell, i'll just shoot into the dark; moria (completely with perona n' stuff). -
You're having fun aren't you?
Yes and no. While I truly believe that the boss thing refers to a main arc-antagonist I agree with Urouge that since this is Oda we're talking about we shouldn't ignore the other possible interpretations of who could be considered a former boss character.
By that I was definitely serious about Cricket (though I truly believe that if what I considered to be foreshadowing on that calendar is related to the monkeys alone) fitting the discription. And while I definitely don't believe it could be Shiki (whom I think will hit the manga story at a much later point) I was mainly bringing it up for consideration if he would fit the discription too.
-
rah rah rah crocodile
-
Guys…it's gonna be Gin. :ninja:
! Or Morgan
! -
I really like the thought of morgan rowing the whole way to the nw.
-
I really like the thought of morgan rowing the whole way to the nw.
If Dragonball has tought us something, then that such a feat would bring with it a great power boost. So yeah, he wouldn't be the weakling he once was by then.
The only problem here is that he was using sails. :(
-
But he is free to change them whenever he feels it would benefit the story?
Mr. Oda's not going to change such a huge plot point just because it wouldn't fit into the story. He'd wait, always keeping it in his head, until the time was right for it. That's why Brook came eight years later. It's especially more likely he'll implement this plot point eventually (if he hasn't done so already) now that he's told the fans he's gonna do it and him not doing would be betrayal in his eyes (the dude misses one week because he couldn't meet a deadline and he makes a special announcement which turned out to be an apology the next week).
Here is my speculation: regarding his problems with guessing how much time it will takes him to finish an arc he might think that the arc he planned to setup a join of Jimbei or Boa might be too long and might drop it :)
Oh yeah man, totally makes sense considering he has a time limit on these things…Oh wait, didn't Merry die FOUR years later than expected? No matter how long it takes, Mr. Oda will implement the story points he desires be it this arc, next arc or whenever.
No speculations aside i simply can't imagine how he will fill the strength gap to make jimbei join and not unnecessarly stretching the actual arc.
That's because Mr. Oda is far above you in creativity and story-telling ability.
That's the only constant here. No?
The man with the eye patch.
Also Brook. Also Hancock from the color walk of many years ago. Also Duval. Also Merry dying. The only difference between these and above is the latter have finally come true but after many, many years. No matter how long it takes, if Mr. Oda plans something, he's gonna do it. Everything significant and even some things that aren't that're currently in his head is a constant.
Well to me a boss is more someone like doflamingo crocodile or capone. Hancock is an empress right?
WTF? Do you know ANYTHING about story structure?
Not exactly what i would call boss.
You don't even know what a boss is.
Correct me if i'm wrong but if Mr.3 is a boss then so is Mr.2 Mr.1 and everyone in the Baroque works that can command some minions?
You're wrong.
Well better crocodile then… Everything else would be confusing?
Only to morons who can't follow a story like you.

you so enraged when you reply to me ) I wonder who is butthurt?
I don't mind if he takes 5 years to make jimbei join. If it is consistent then i will accept it. Partner can also mean anything.
Lol at you continuing with that moria argument you created out of nothing :)

I'm sorry, where did you pick up I was enraged? I was more flabbergasted than anything. What exactly do I have to be butt-hurt about?
Also the fact that you not only remembered it but knew who I was talking about is indicator enough that it struck a chord with you.

Oh Heil the great Wapol!

I'm sorry but you try too hard. It's not funny anymore…

How was Boa aboss character? She did nothing really… If 2 chapter bosses are as well in this thread than...
Mr 5 = Main boss of Whiskey Peak
Mr 3 = Little Garden
Sentoumaru or Kizaru = SI
AoKiji = Post DBF
Bellamy = Jayaand some more
she was thought to be ab oss character, and had a longer arc than many of the first people we met. I mean look at alvida, buggy, morgan, krieg, hell all of east blue, little garden. t hose were short arcs. Just cause we are so used ot long arcs now that when duval or hancock have some short 10 chapters we think its nothing
-
I still say if the info with Boss correct tan either Oda give us Jinbei to fools us with this oyabun and yakuza stuff or Croc… Dunno why.
But for now I can't say I see any of them joining.
-
Wow, super NOT cool this was moved as the move indicates it's solely discussing a 'next crew member' when it may not have anything to do with that at all.
Boo.
