However, what annoys me more about these particular new characters having such stupid character design is the nature of CP9. CP9 is a top secret organization created for espionage and assassination, and Luchie, Kaku, Califa and Blueno all seem to be able to play that part, being able to keep their identities under wrap for five years while they put an elaborate plan into motion. It may not be funny, but it's believeable. However, these new guys? We have a Kabuki Player, a long, silly-haired loudmouth, and a giant egg with a zipper for a mouth. It's no wonder they seem to botch missions regularly, one look at them and you realize something's not right. They are NOT believeable, even in the context of One Piece.
You know, everyone thought Usopp's design was completely un-believeable at first too. Same with Patti, then Hachi, then Chess, then Bon Clay, then…etc. etc. etc. It just takes a while for the shock value to wear off, that's all. XD
-
Jabura does not seem as lame as his two counterparts… yet. Again, I've decided to give the Security Risk Trio a chance here, and he's the one we've seen the least from, so he's the one I'm keeping my eye on the most. He DOES seem like the brains of that trio, though. The Moe to Kabuki's LArry and Zipper's Curly.
-
I really like the Kabuki man… Like I've said, I've waited a while for the inevitable Kabuki style character.
-
…you mean that you were actually expecting a Kabuki style character

there will always be rebels,
even if it was the best damn goverment ever there still would be someone who would want to take the power. -
Well, kabuki styled characters are fairly common in anime/manga.
-
I agree with Kalei, Franky was so weired for me in the beginning but as he procress well in the warehouse and the Sea Train, I actully started to like him
-
id like to point out that enies lobby is a sky penninsula, not an island.
Also, characters who appear ridiculous can often be dangerous (i.e. bon clay, spandam)
Zipper mouth reminds me of humpty-dumpty.
-

Usopp grew on me because he is an excellent character and is a part of the main cast, which means he actually develops (and he happens to develop the best of all of them.) Patti was, well… annoying. He never interested me. Hachi was always funny as hell to me, but then, I think he was just the right personality type for an octopus-man, and being around from the start and interacting with a straw hat, Zoro, long before their fight was just fun. Chess, like Patti, never grew on me. Bon Clay was around long enough and was more than just a simple "enemy for the Straw Hats to beat up" in order for me to like him, much like Hachi. Ballboy and Gensuru from Skypiea, who are sort of in the same set as the ones you mentioned, were like Chess and Patti. Never grew on me. And Franky is like Usopp. (Hey, mirror image along the line there.)
I guess I'll just say I like weird characters when they're actually designed for more of a purpose than for the Straw Hats to kick their ass.
That said, Kabuki may get on my nerves because he IS a generic KAbuki player as seen thus far, overdramatic and a bit eccentric. However, I will give him this: his antics involving seppuku, namely preventing himself FROM doing it through his own powers, was kind of funny. Shows he's an idiot, yes, but still sorta funny.

sorry, i just had to do this:
oh how i would kill to see oda pull something like that.

The Franky-Spandam meeting….damn. Besides what e1n drew, I can imagine them asking what happened to the other's face.

and even if Luchi thinks they are a disgrace to the CP9 and the WG with their carlessness i doubt that he could just get rid of them since they are atleast at the same level as he and his troop is,
maybe stronger since they are a man short.and besides they are kept around for a reason their strengths probably well out weigh their flaws
They still screwed up, though. Lucci went on for about 90 pages bragging about CP9, at one point talking about how they shouldn't exist and all that. I think it'd piss him off just a little, at least.
And y'know, Fukrou's pretty dangerous. He can reveal the secret to Rokushiki or out Lucci. :P

Suave is smooth, "pimp" as some may say.

**Well I see it like this. No matter what Nami said it was clear enough that Usopp understood that Iceburg is alive, what Robin told Franky is what she learned from Usopp. So if what Usopp heard was vague, then what Robin heard was vague too and in the end what Franky heard was the same. But since Robin tells it to Franky as if it is a fact, Usopp must have told it to her the same way which means that he understood it as if Iceburg definitely survived.
The only logic explenation for everything is that Franky might have overheard the part where Nami had the information about Robin's true motives from. But that's just wishful thinking from my side I have to admit.
**__Now I may be taking stephen a little too literally here, but:
**Soge King: And they know all the reasons why you insist that!!
The Ice-man from the shipyard has revealed all.Robin: …he's still alive...?!
...no! I'm still not going back to you...**Usopp doesn't confirm Ice is alive there, she kinda changes the subject. We can assume Usopp only knows that Ice revealed all, as Nami probably told him. Robin, however, was actually present for pretty much the whole mansion incident. All she heard Ice say was how she's a demon. So there was a chance of CP9 stopping their operation in a bomb rigged building and allowing him to explain right then and there, but that's pretty unlikely. So I assume that she deduced that Ice is still alive, not entirely because of what Usopp said._

They still screwed up, though. Lucci went on for about 90 pages bragging about CP9, at one point talking about how they shouldn't exist and all that. I think it'd piss him off just a little, at least.Because Lucci's actions in W7 were perfect? The whole island now knows that the government is responsible of attempting murder of their mayor, killing some of their carpenters, burning down the Dock 1 main building and framing of innocent pirates. :P He completely fucked up : their identity was revealed, the government exposed and they still don't have the plans… While Jyabura, Kumadori and Fukurou did kill all witnesses and hide their identity.
-
Uh, no they don't. Lucci's plans were only messed up because of the Straw Hats, who CP9 was ordered not to kill. In a full-throttle assasination plot, it would have been nothing for them. That's why things are hairy for him now. And besides the FF, Lulu, Tilestone, and Pauly, no one else even knows. Well, there's Kokoro, but she pretty much found out because of those three, I assume.

That zipper guy…what's his name again?
Well,he looks like Peter Griffin. -

i'd say he also looks like this fat guy in eyeshield 21, don't remember his name. i don't think he'll be sarcastic enought to keep the ressemblance with pete griffin
what with an island where the night never falls? what' going on here?
-
They have everlasting sunshine because they drink Sunraysia.
jk
Well,it could have something to do with the sky above it….it's just a hole in the middle of nowhere.with 3 giant balls floating behind it.in the sky.
THEY HAVE COME FOR US! -
Yay, the chapter finally, thankyou for the chapter and the trans.
oh wow…. I love the Robin/Franky scene, and Franky's speech once again make Robin re-thinking her action. I think she need one more person to make her finally come to her sense :D perhaps Luffy, but somehow... I can picture Nami is the person
and... the marines people have good eyes..... the 'that's Nico Robin?? she's beautiful' :D then............ release her handcuff will ya??!! >=( what's the point in handcuffing her anyway? she isn't going to run...... yet :P
oooh...... Franky bites XD XD and his admiration of Enies Lobby... wow he doesn't feel nervous at all.....
the 3 other CP9 are...... euh.... creepy O_o especially the zipper dude. and for god's sake, this zipper dude already has zipper in his mouth, yet he can't keep a secret?? gosh...... O_o maybe Spanda need to add a lock then O_o. btw, I never watch DB, so which one is the one who looks like tao pai pai like been mentioned in the spoiler thread? is it the guy in the middle? somehow the guy in the middle looks like a chinise kungfu master O_o
and.... I can't wait for next chapter!! the Luffy/ Sogeking meet and perhaps the strawhats and co. arival at Einess Lobby
oh, almost forgot, the cover story, the unluckies revealed the secret for food?? XDbtw e1n XD awsome as always..... XD
-
So at last it's out,Thanks guys ;)
and this time it's not similar to the spoiler :P
and e1n,fantastic work again :D -

i think the marines forced them to draw the BW people by starving them. ^^; well, i guess that's better than being dead. i thought sanji killed them.
-
I'm telling you Franky is too powerful to join the Strawhats.
-
What does it matter if he's powerful? Even If he does end up joining, I personally wouldn't consider him in the top two or even three of the Strawhats, in terms of strength.
-
At first, I have to admit. When I saw the spoiler information, I was thinking who are they kidding, Aokiji right now? This spoiler later was proven to be a fake one. But the next one didn't make the situation better either. "More villians (or should I say secret agents since they are on the good side?)"? How far is Mr. Oda going to end this story?
After the pictures were released, the spoiler has proven to be truth now. Then I have to say, this arc seems not going to end until Chapter 400. :D
Although it might be good for making everyone to fight in an 1 on 1 match by introducing more enemies, I just wonder how is Mr. Oda going to divide the villians. The Mighty Four seems always stick together after they released their true identity. Even when they were on-mask, Lulu and Tilestone were both no match in single when fighting with Calipha and Bluno. Even Paulie got beaten hardly by Masked Lucchi and Kaku. I still can't imagine how Nami going to fight in an one on one battle with any of the CP9 members. If she couldn't beat her opponent in the first strkie, her secret weapon probably will be taken away by the opponent, and this time it won't easy to get it back as in Miss Double Finger battle.
Also now I can't think who might be the strongest one in CP9. Although Luffy said he wanted to fight with Lucchi, but what if he finally beated Lucchi down, but became exhausted as he won other tough battles before, then Mr. Oda release that Lucchi isn't the strongest one in CP9. (I prefer the one who looks like Tao Pai Pai) Is the strawhat going to be caught or what? I am thinking the strawhat didn't think that far this time. What if they can't get away? Is that really worth it to rescue Robin right now instead of more training? I don't think this is the right rime to face the government yet. Sorry, I can't figure out how to say right now. Maybe I will change those words later.
-
I think he thought this pretty far out. If he was exhausted after a hard battle with Lucci (which would be at the end anyway), I'd like to think one of his about 60 allies would cover him against further attack.
And I don't think anyone expects Nami to fight one on one. There are like, 12 main people in this alliance and 8 main enemies, someone's going to have to team up.
What if they can't get away?
They're all risking their lives, so it's not like they'd have any regrets.
What if they can't get away? Is that really worth it to rescue Robin right now instead of more training?
Uh…...of course it is.

Now, I can accept freakshow-esque characters in groups like Baroque Works, or working for Eneru. But for the World Government? I don't buy it.
**
I can't agree with you more. When the first time Mr. Oda release that Spandma is the commander of CP9, I was kind of mad about this. How could that lunatic and weak guy be the commander of the cool CP9? In my opinion, Spandma is looker like a guy who think himself brillient, but his is nothing and causing trouble. It just don't fit to me that Spandma is the one who arrange all the plan for taking down Gally-La. Also since he is the boss, I think when he revealed something he shouldn't do, like he attacked the government's ship ten years ago to bleam Tom, that might cause some reaction with the other CP9 members.
-
I really like the new character design. All the very little personality Lucchi, Kaku, Blueno and Kalifa had before the whole CP9 revelation is now long gone. They're pretty much blank - for a reason I admit though - but nevertheless boring. Spandam and the companions beats the crap out of the W7 veterans.
-
Yeah, I have to agree with you there.

**I'm really not sure on how to understand your statement. The way how I see it she tells Franky that Iceburg is alive as it was a given fact. And that given fact she only obtained from Nami (over Usopp).
-
I think she said what she did because she put two and two together for it. Like, for them to say that Ice told about Robin, he'd have to be alive. So to her, they basically did say he was still alive.
-
i like to make predictions using pencil and paper, rather than typing it here.
and then the rocketman crashed into enies lobby!!
by the way, lucchi wears the top hat for a reason. what is it? let's have lulu and paulie reveal it.
-
Ah, so Lucci really isn't all that and a bag of chips! Love that receding hairline.
Awesome stuff, e1n! :D
-
snickerfit Ahhh, but Receding Hairlines ARE cool! My dad has one and he's really cool! Heck, my Grandfather is bald and he's the coolest guy I know!
-
FRANKY FUCKING ROCKS. I had a very sad day today with someone I know being rather down, and Franky said all the stuff I want to tell to that person (though they wouldn't listen, they're even more depressed than robin is) in 5 lines. Truly amazing.

F'ing awesome.

-
I think we'll see it when Luffy knocks his hat off.
Maybe he's BALD under there…. -
Wow those are really good. You have more of those?
