Anyone else thinks it's set up so that way Seventh Voyage won't be entirely filler? My guess:
5V- 104-116
6V- 117-129
7V- 130-143

I am actually hoping that it will be entirely filler, so that I can just act like it was never released lol

I think that's what we're all hoping, lol
-
Would it be that bad to do with a little filler? It's not like this is Naruto level filler here. Heck, FUNimation should throw a canon episode on there to make sure people buy it.
-
I think that is what they know we are hoping.
-
HA, Good Job FUNimation. Stick Robin's Joining ep on the DVD with the Filler, to force the Whiners to buy it XD

Eh, I was planning on buying it anyways. Still, two sets with 12 episodes this season? Meh, but it won't stop me from buying them.
-
12 episodes really isn't a big difference. The episodes are all still in the can, they'll be released, you just won't get every last crumb in the first three minutes of the hot dog eating contest.
…y'know what I mean...

Oh I agree, I just prefer the 13 episode sets (or 14).
Actually, one thing I would really like to see is extras. At this point we probably won't get them (unless Funi goes back and does another release with say more episodes per set or something), and I think one of the big goals with this release was getting everything to the fans quickly.
I remember at AB that Funimation put a rush out on a lot of their Geneon aquisitions because the fans had been waiting a VERY long time for some of those releases. So Funimation is kind of aware of fans being impatient over things and wants to get stuff out quickly. We had some very small gaps until S2V4 was delayed but it seems like it might be the episode change that's going to do it (if the Robin's joining episode on the filler set theory is right, that would be a smart, last minute marketing decision on Funi's part). So they're trying to get the series out quickly - it's a big series with a LOT of episodes and fans who have wanted uncut DVDs for what, five, six years? Longer for those who were around before the 4Kids acquisition? They were a little slow to start but since season one, third voyage we've had some pretty speedy releases. We'll be in Arabasta by December (barring another delay) and we'll probably know when the next Arabasta set is out by November (if you figure we're getting a January/February release).
Also, am I the only one hoping for Mr. Prince to be on the cover of S2V5?

I would not mind him on the cover for sure.
-
Yeah, plus what you said was absolutely 100% True!
I just checked and my Status is now "Reserved for your Order", meaning it will probably Ship tomorrow or the next day!!Same here. My Naruto DVD stayed with that status for like… 1.5 days so I expect the same treatment on our OP DVDs. Maybe they will ship out tomorrow night or early Thursday morning if we are lucky, in which case we should get them probably Monday, assuming you guys chose 2 day shipping as well.

@Dixxy:

Not at all!!
-
The Mr. Prince stunt is one of my favorite things in the ENTIRE SERIES. I'm so looking forward to owning that episode sometime early next year!!!
-
I can see S2V5 being Crocodile and Luffy, a la manga volume covers 21 and 22.
-
I didn't get an email confirmation about it yet, but on my orders list it says:
"Status:
Shipped complete"Yay! I should be getting it tomorrow!
-
Holy shiz, mine says that too! Wow, I didnt' expect it to be that fast!! Dude, I am soo excited to see Chopper, but I'm forcing myself not to watch the ones I have in Japanese so it can be fresh and exciting to me (even though I've watched Drum arc at least 4 times..)
-
I haven't yet bought any of the DVDs (besides movie 8) and now that I'm getting a PS3, I don't think I should. Why? Cause of Blu-ray. How likely do you guys think it will be for FUNi to re-release the series on to Blu-ray? They'll probably combine each voyage into one due to the kinda space Blu-ray discs have.
Just the matter of if they'll just make it into Blu-ray or if they're gonna do the whole thing they do to DBZ by remastering it. If so, I don't see them doing that, cause that's DBZ.
Either way, I've decided I wont be getting the releases. Don't flame me for not supporting. If FUNi makes it pretty clear there will be no episodic releases on Blu-ray, fine. I'll get the DVDs, otherwise I'm waiting. And even tho I have movie 8 on DVD, I'm buying the Blu-ray release.
-
I just got my email confirmation now, along with my tracking number. It says…
Scheduled Delivery Date:
09/16/2009Yay!
-
Mines still say "Reserved For Your Order" :(
Hopefully tomorrow then. Have fun the people who's getting theirs soon. I really wanted to see Chopper this week too.

Pff!
Have fun waiting for THAT to happen (which may never happen to begin with).
-
I don't see how you figure. Go over to Amazon and look at all the anime series from FUNimation released/getting released on Blu-ray. They're not all that "new" either. However, with episode 1-205 of OP being fullscreen, I'm not sure how they'd do it.

I think it's pretty unlikely that the earlier episodes will be released on blu-ray. Until episode 207, OP was only produced in SD, so you wouldn't get any benefit out of blu-ray anyway (other than better subtitle quality).
If we're extremely lucky, Toei will let Funi release eps 207 onwards on blu-ray, but given they haven't been released on blu-ray in Japan that may not happen.
-
Toei are moving to release the movies in blueray, so it may yet happen.
-
One Piece TV wont ever be released on Blu-ray in the US, that is just a pipe-dream. The Bluray market is tiny compared to DVD and anime is already a niche market. Short 13 episode TV series and movies have a chance for Blu-ray releases because it is much less of a risk, but no 100+ episode TV show will ever be released on Bluray in the US outside of DBZ (unless the company really wants to go bankrupt). Even then, I doubt the original DBZ TV will be released on Bluray, likely just the remastered/recut Kai version. One Piece unfortunately just doesn't have the mass appeal like DBZ.

Got my confirmation! It'll be arriving on Thursday, the day I thought it would actually ship! Rightstuff never seizes to amaze me. Although it'd be easier if my packages weren't all coming on different days this week, but it can't be helped I guess.
-
Got mine as well. Can't wait till Thursday.
-
Mine has shipped as well, but I gotta wait til Monday. Damn, damn, damn.
-
Yep, mine arrives tomorrow, which is perfect because I go home friday so it'll be waiting for me :)
-
Ugh, mine hasn't shipped yet :(
-
I don't know if this has been mentioned but S2V3 episode titles are up.
-

All of them seem pretty new to me, excluding DBZ.
Just buy the DVDs, they're as good as we're gonna get. Funimation has even put out the DBZ series on Blu Ray, and there's really no point to now.
-
and it's shipping
I guess I should order Fourth Voyage about nows, but I don't remember if I already did or not
-
ORIGINAL:Buuhan
However, with episode 1-205 of OP being fullscreen, I'm not sure how they'd do it.It being full screen has absolutely no effect on whether or not it can be HD. The reason I wouldn't expect them to put it out on Blu-Ray is simply because they weren't aired/or released in Japan on Blu-Ray to begin with. Now the later episodes being in HD on Blu-Ray would make enough sense. But putting out the first 200 episodes on Blu-Ray just doesn't make sense

Here's Before Dawn's lyrics:
My life has been too still, my heart is unfullfilled
But you could be the one to set me freeSomething has to change
My world can be arranged
I'll do anything as long as you are with meI work stronger having you by my side
It started on an everlasting rideI'm invincible when your love is near
When I'm with you, I have no more fearLet's see how far we can make this go
The world is ours, future's bright I knowI see it shine in the distance,
Glistening like water when the sun rises in the dawn -
Mikey…did you get...Third Voyage in?
-
Finally! This is my favorite ending. Could you upload it please, Mikey? And also maybe the S2V4 ad.
-
@Yuugi's:
Mikey…did you get...Third Voyage in?
What do you think? Yes, I did.
-
Welp, maybe a 'O.o' would have been proper to end my post.
-
Do you know who sings ending 5?
-
Nope, I can't tell. But I'm currently ripping clips.
-
Awesome, thank you so much!
-
I request the ending (Probably a given) and the scene where Luffy and Sanji argue about Choppers "Beam".
-
First clip is up:
-
Hiriluk's voice is pretty good. Who's his voice actor?
-
Chopper's actor got better thats for sure! Thanks Mikey!
-
@Mikey:
First clip is up:
Thanks! Good clip!
-
Wow, I asked to be in tears and boy did I get it. Bravo!!
Hiruluk sure did sound like he was in great pain, though.
-
Great clip Mikey.
Chopper's actor has greatly improved, he doesn't sound as screechy anymore.
If only I had the money to get all the DVDs I'm missing. Can't wait to see more, hopefully Hiriluk's speech.
-
Oh my gaw…. Drum island hasn't made me cry since the second time I watched it, but that made me teary..!! I recognized the VA for Hiluluk (I thought they might use him, I think they used him in UA too).. but I can't think of his name right now. He does a lot of old man/older guy voices. He plays the lunchshop owner in the first episode of FMA and the cheif of police in Case Closed...
EDIT: Aha, got it (looked up my case closed dvd) I think it's Mark Stoddard (if Meguire is his CC name, I think so)
-
Yeah, it's the same guy that played him in Unlimited Adventure.
I really really want to see ending 5, and the scene where Kureha finds out that Chopper gave Hiriluk the mushroom.
