Same here, but I'm more closet than anything for obvious reasons. Only on AP though.
416: ''Rescue Ace! The Next Destination is the Great Prison''

@Thousand:
Meh, people sympathize with Buggy and he's a scallywag.
Eh, Buggy's more along the lines of anti-hero imo [hide]especially after impel Down.[/hide]
You can't really place him in the same group as downright kickheads as Croc, Kuro, etc.
-
I love how they adapted the Warlord colorspred into this episode~
-
Personally, though, I thought the Law and Kid fight was poorly directed. They look to be having nearly as much trouble with their Pacifista than the Straw Hats had with theirs. I did like the ending though. Things looked even more dire for them than it did in the manga.
I realize that, but this is somewhat different. It was a betrayal. Luffy even called Hancock out on this when he went ''She admired and looked up to you, but now you're trying to kill her! What the hell is wrong with you?!'' That was something that was established as long ago as the Kuro arc as lowest of the low acts one could commit. However here, it's all being swept under the table and discarded while we're instantly supposed to consider Hancock a good guy and forgive her of her past transgressions, no different from everyone forgiving her just because she's beautiful.
It's just one of the reasons I really don't like how this arc ended. It was obviously rushed and plot points were hastily swept under the rug so that Luffy could get to Impel Down ASAP.
there is a huge difference from back then to hancock.
In hancocks defense there WAS a rule in place and they broke it. Sure you can throw in morals and all other shit that you want to throw out, but just straight up facts for in the court, they brought a man in. that is against rules and punishable by death. end of facts.
Now i don't want to get into what kuro an dhancock may think of their crews, how they treat them, their morals or whatever. Just saying its different.

Yes, that's true until the three start adopting a blatantly sadistic tone over the proceedings comparable to those old villains that we are supposed to hate. Need I remind you that Sandersonia tried TO kill Marguerite not because she stood up for Luffy, but just to inflict mental anguish on him, and when he said his part about her admiring the sisters, he was brushed off and Sandersonia said that she would be happy to die like that. And if you want to count it, there's the false hope Hancock gave in the anime. I dunno about others, but those actions certainly don't strike me as kosher.
It's the lack of development, re-evaluation, and calling out that bugs me about this whole mess. I just haven't found the three sisters to be very sympathetic characters because of it.

As I said the story has been moving at a fairly break neck pace (manga wise) so that character development would have to come later.
-
Oda forgives all of his characters, almost no matter how evil. The only exception might be the tenryubito. Think of Helmeppo, super idiot and jerk, is now with Coby and getting trained by Garp, Wapol got super rich and married miss world, Hachi became strawhats' friend, etc.
-
Not as subtle as in the manga:
Although you need to pause in order to see it.
-
I like how the Shichibukai pic has Jinbei in chains, pretty much spoiling that he's some type of prisoner for the non manga readers. -_-
I didn't even notice . . . and really, this is anime. If they actually notice that he's in chains, they might just think it's some sort of fashion accessory. Seriously, they look like Moria's cuff things.
I think manga readers assume too much when they see openings and the like "spoiling" anime-only fans. I only started reading the manga a week or two after Share the World first started playing, and none of the images there really spoiled me.
Heck, I was spoiled more by trying to figure out which episode Sanji has the fantasy about Robin being a princess and he a prince. Stupid google. I found out where Zoro ended up (even though I didn't know that Kuma'd separated them) and about what he did in Thriller Bark. :getlost: That's why I caught up on the manga. I was sick of stuff like that happening.

Indeed. I actually think that the only parts of Share The World which could be considered "spoilers" would be the crew fighting PX-1, and the shot of Luffy and Ace standing back to back with Impel Down in the background.
-
I don't think anime only people would notice them a spoilers much. To them, it's a mystery awaiting to unravel. It kinda makes it all the more exiting when it does show up in the episode.
The only thing that irks me is showing content that actually appears in episodes, since I think those kind of "previews" are straight up lazy(Brand New World).
-
AS a mostly-anime-watcher (who's somewhat aware of manga proceedings), I'll tell you that the opening "spoiled" nothing for me. All it shows is a bunch of new characters I don't know who are, and some shots of Luffy beating up people I don't know what signified. Didn't notice Jimbei's chains either. The only thing that could vaguely be considered a spoiler is the scenes from the Kuma battle.

Hello bean Granny.
LOL!
-
woah woah woah. 1 episode per 2 strawhats? O_o Hell yeah! :D
-
Damn, they sure are taking their time here. Amazon Lily is going as slow as it can be and now 5 episodes for the SH… at least it seems they will include the cover stories (I mean, I believe that's the reason why Zoro and Brook will be the last - since Oda still didn't write their cover stories).
EDIT: It was said there is no OP this week in the SJ. If that's so, it will be hard for Zoro and Brook stories because it will take 5 weeks until they are done (assuming OP will not get any color pages). The animation team will running like crazy to have everything properly done in the schedule.
-
I highly doubt that these episodes will be based on the cover stories, but if they are I can safely say that the animation department knew of the cover stories for all the Strawhats far before they were ever shown in the manga,
-
i'm still hoping oda gave the anime team the story on what happens to the strawhats and how they make it back and let them animated since oda probably didn't want to spend many chapters covering that.
-
Are the cover stories included in these episodes ? I am really curious.
-
I highly doubt that these episodes will be based on the cover stories
I'm not sure what else they could be based on.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they animate an episode per week, instead of an entire season, like Western animation. So, while they probably had a heads up as to what they'd be showing, I don't think they knew way before the cover stories hit.
-
This post is deleted!
-
They did this episode at least 4 weeks ago.
Same things usually happens in the last episodes.
I remember reading that in an interview with Toei.Anyways, the fact is that either Oda is planning this with Toei or Toei is just pulling filler out of the ass, which could possibly screw them, just like Kuma pawing Kidd and Law could screw them.
-
Well, now I have an excuse to comment on this episode.
Well, the beginning filler wasn't really very interesting and was drawn out for a bit too long. I like how they had Hancock contradict herself too. That was fun. And wouldn't keeping a dagger there hurt? Like, a lot?
Not too much else to say. I liked how they used some of the music (and there was definitely a new piece in there), and the re-animated Alabasta scene with Ace looked decent enough. I don't remember Ace sounding quite that deep though. It sounded kind of like Furukawa was slipping back into Piccolo.
Oh, and Hancock's a gigantic drama queen.
-
First of all, I'm sorry I bumped, but only saw the episode when Yibis subbed it, I'm afraid.
Three things to answer your comment:
-Its not a new piece, I remember hearing it sometime ago, its definately an addicting piece though.
-That scene with that music was indeed awesome.
-Ace's voice was always like that, since the beginning of the series until now. In case you don't know, the voice actor of Ace is about 50 years old.
Badass voice, though. And he changes it to a more "Anime" voice when he screams attack names -
Yeah, I know his seiyuu is past middle age. Maybe it's because we haven't heard Ace talking in a long while that it feels a bit different to me.
After rewatching that scene again, I wonder how the smoldering Vivre Card hadn't set Luffy's hat on fire.
Oh yeah, Wado Ichimonji got really long all of a sudden. Zoro's going to have a hard time keeping that thing in his mouth.
-
Ok well I am just catching up here and I have to say I found some funny scenes here and there, such as the girls attacking Luffy. All he wanted to do was eat What's with this Island? Its insane LOL. Over all an ok episode, sorry for bumping up the thread but I just saw the episode and wanted to give my view on it. I can't wait to get to the parts where Luffy rescues his brother.
-
Lol anime-only viewers .
-
IMO Anime > Manga. I know you guys don't give a shit about my opinion though.

going to have to agree :P
I enjoy the anime alot more, the only reason I basically read the manga is to just get caught up in the awesome story because it's a year ahead of the animeif the manga and anime coexisted both in the same part of the series, no doubt I would stop reading the manga and go full anime
-
I can't wait to get to the parts where Luffy rescues his brother.
! Poor guy. He doesn't know.
Edit: Done.
