I hope very much that if or when Luffy uses Haki that it doesn't create an aura or something like that around him. Maybe that Smoker looks into his eyes and they're like Shanks' in the first chapter. Just no aura. Please.
Chapter 555 "Oars and kasa" Discussion

@Fiasco.:
Can't wait for when Luffy shows up and thinks that Moria brought Odz with him from thriller bark. I'm sticking with my theory that Luffy will slingshot into the foundation of the stand Ace is on and Smoker will notice and pursue him, and they will engage each other behind the stand in the MHQ city where Smoker will reveal that even with Luffy's speed + power boost if he can't hit him it's useless, then Iva's speed starts to wear off and Luffy starts to fade, and then has an Ace flashback and wakes up with a burst of (forgive me) Haki and smacks Smoker around with said Haki then slingshots over to Ace aiming a Giant Jet haki pistol at Sengoku but Garp will come out of nowhere and deflect it but not before the likes of everyone including WB recognize the powerful haki then Garp pushes Luffy who is already out of energy and tired to the side, and engages WB for the best battle the manga has ever seen.
riiiiiiight. Well now that the spoiler is out on Oda's plans, I think he might change them :/

What about a heatwave effect? You know similar to how reiatsu in bleach is depicted?
-
Like the air around him being distorted like on a hot day? I think that'd be better but I'd prefer nothing.
-

Don't they already do that for him for Gear 2 a bit?
I'd be happy with focus on his eyes and a bunch of straight lines showing the intensity

That's more like steam, I'm talking about the way they illustrate reiatsu in the bleach anime, like that heavy atmosphere type stuff it's more subtle than DB fire aura. I'd be cool with the eyes, but the problem is that if they just do the eye thing then it'd be hard to tell that he's in full use of haki unless they repeatedly used panels to focus on his eyes. Lol maybe his body will release that Xavier wave effect intermittently without him even thinking about it? Hell if we keep watching Hancock she may supply an answer.

Actually you're right it is different. I was just thinking about the wrong scenes since I haven't watched the anime in years lol.
When Luffy releases his haki it should be just like when Zaraki Kenpachi found Ichigo in SS lol. That all consuming, barely can stand up, hard to breath type of pressure.

Yup that's how I imagine it, the eyes thing is just the beginning/trigger like Luffy pumping his calf for Gear 2nd. So he'd have the eye intensity thing for the 1st panel then the heavy pressure as the change that can be seen in panels of his body, without zooming in on just his eyes.
-
Blah, Sengoku is calm because he is confident in the Shichibukais' abilities unlike certain individuals who underestimate them. :getlost:
-
Is no one upset that the Spade Pirates Gattling-gun arm guy was apparently taken out by Hancock?
-
naniiiii!? where O.o
-
Why should we. He didn't even have a name.
-
Ah yes, the final battle of the arc will be Luffy vs. Sengoku. Then the goat will play the same role Kuma did in Thriller Bark.
the goat is pulton that "ate" the goat fruit. you heard it here first.

You know as much as I love this war and stuff, I have been rewatching and rereading the anime and manga of One Piece, and I realized I miss the crew a lot. Especially Zoro, Robin, and Nami. Bleh. At least this war will be good.
-
after this war they will reunite, be happy and see the good side ;)

Nah don't miss them at all.
I'm good for another 6 months w/o them as long as we don't get anything as uncomfortable as the AL part again.
Only thing this war is missing is one or two skull jokes.
-
hmmm, I don't know, I seriously think Luffy might need a doctor after this too, so Brooke fot the skulljokes and Chopper and a cook too seeing he heals more from eating then from whatever it is that Chopper does so sanji aswell
-

I doubt a doctor can heal the Majority of damage caused. As said the injuries/treatment sustained would take years off his life, most of other contributions are fatigue from fighting which can be remedied will food and rest.
I wonder if Kumas fatigue expulsion will play its part…....Again.
-
yeah, perhaps, but for things like stabs and cutting wounds and stuff a doctor might come in handy though, I'm not saying he can make someone good as new like a senzu bean but it can definately speed up the healing process when being treated corectly which I suppose chopper does…

as we all know, bandages fix everything.
-
what does kasa means
-
-
Kasa is the name of the type of hat that Oars Jr. had.
Oars and the hat, is basically the title - and if you take just the flashbacks, you have a children's book. Big friendly giant gets a hat, and can now happily sit in the rain and the snow. The end. This has to be atleast a bit intentional.

And this is exactly why haki discussion is dumb.
Fans try to lower one Peace down to Bleach and Naruto's level.

Kuma shoots the farigue out of Luffy and into Whitebeard, thus killing the old man.
Surprise twist, LUFFY kills Whitebeard!!!
…
Or not.

I hate it when people say this. Honestly there's nothing wrong with the visual effects of reiatsu in Bleach or even chakra and ki in Naruto and DB. No the only problem is that those series got ridiculous in there uses of these energies and would have a lot of stupid moments in which a character is out of energy and suddenly gets enough to pull off a big attack out of nowhere. So if OP has haki with similar effects (probably won't but effects are needed to indicate haki usage) it won't mean OP is turning into these series, as far as we know Oda may have got ideas from DB and that made him decide to use the spirit energy stuff but as long as he puts his own spin on it then that's fine imo. Hell he's already done this with Gear 2nd which is essentially OP's kaioken, but it's more interesting because it's mechanics actually have an explanation.
-
can't wait for next chapter wonder what's gonna happen hopefully it has more doflamingo
-
Yah I agree with HaxeyeMiHawk.
Having those reitsu, ki, chakra, psy, spirit energy or anything else is fine as long as the author makes it original and doesn't rely on them as the sole concept of fighting. I hate when a character is like omg I am out of Reitsu… gets healed then come back or some other things.
I mean as far as see, Haki is ambition or a willpower to do something. Its like when you focus your mind into hurting an inaminate object, it will hurt them. From my perspective, Haki is more related to that of the Force in Star Wars. Of course, no fancy attacks or anything but it crosses the borders of existentialism in the sense of the attack.

What are you talking about?
-
I think he's talking about how Haki can get imbued in an object (like arrows) to increase the destructiveness of said object.
-
You can't hurt an object.
-
-
You can do anything if you put your mind to it.
No you can't. As proof, you obviously put your mind towards making a clever comment. You failed.

I may be late to the party here so don't yell at me… but when did the manga change ace's tattoo from the original design to those bones?
-
The design was first changed during Shanks's meeting with Whitebeard.
-
Can Kuma transfer his own fatigue to someone else ?
Does using Ursus Shock cause him fatigue, does it use lot of his energy (like Franky with Coup de Vent, …) ? Hopefully he can't just blow Ursus Schocks everywhere, anytime, he must need some time, focus, ... ? -

Well the whole aryan nation nazi swastika tatoo thing was nice but I belive his editor asked him to change it because the world outside of japan wouldn't appreciate it so much :P

its not aryan nation symbol from the start so not like whitebeard is a nazi

ever since the second time we saw Whitebeard's symbol.
…the nazi-faggot symbol (no offense towards gay ppl intended, btw) is much too popular in history classes for people to even realize that this is based on something entirely different, so this might have been the right choice (if Oda even had one). can't say that the change bothers me. -
Now that someone bought it up, Kuma could use Oars' pain to take out a commander trying to protect WB.

Well I'm european, and from a neighbouring country of germany, and even though I personally couldn't care less, some people are still very uptight about this stuff. If I went around and painted a swastika in public, I'd get arrested, not to mention make it to the six a'clock news. Yeah it's crazy because a swastika was originally some kind of peace symbol to begin with, but that's how it is now..

but it's not the swastika it's a Buddhist symbol if i'm correct it's the backwards version of a swastika so it's a completely different thing

No, the swastika's tilted 45degrees to make it change from a symbol of life to a symbol of evil.

From wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika

And a Hindu symbol(first a Hindu symbol seen in the Indus valley time period then migrated to Buddhism when it branched off). Pretty much seen throughout India and parts of southeast Asia.

Still no spoilers Damn it !
