The hilt/guard does look like it when he releases to bankai but it's not lol
People just don't know the difference from the Hindu/Buddhist symbol and the Nazi one which was tilted at a 45 degree angle.
Shame really, I doubt Oda adding the four dots would've helped.

I think what he was saying is that the Japanese word for Bankai has the kanji 卍 in it. I heard a story somewhere where a Jewish family ordered some things from China and it contained a stuffed bear with a swastika on it. They sued the company for antisemitism

As for the topic of swastikas/manji:
If you look at any Japanese maps (and Chinese also, I assume), temples are indicated with a manji. Manji is a holy symbol that we've been using for thousands of years in Buddhism (And hindu) influenced areas. Germans are total noobs compared to us, and it's very irritating when Westerners tell us to stop using it.
Our position on the matter is, "we've been using it for thousands of years, why the hell should we stop using it because some douchebags from YOUR culture twisted its meanings?"
Imagine some asian originated extremist terrorist cult group using Christian symbols massacred people in Asia, and asians start telling the westerners "stop using the cross as your holy symbol". That's exactly how we feel about swastika.

It's "kind of" like how here in NYC (and other gang populated cities/states) people have to think twice about wearing Red, Blue, or Black/Gold through certain hoods....cause if your wearing alot of red and some Bloods shout out "What's poppin' Blood?" and you don't know what to say or what salute to give....you gettin' cut.
Why do we have to change our assortment of colors so we can avoid gang violence? These colors have been out for centuries before any of there great great great............grandmothers were born....

Funny how an Indian Religious symbol becomes something considered heinous because of a German Political Party and their usage of it during mass persecution, even though it had been around for over 4000 years. And as a result, its Asian Equivalent (the Manji) gets a bad rap, too.
For the record, Ichigo's Bankai still has the Manji hilt. Bleach has the same target audience as One Piece and no one complains about that.

I seriously doubt it was complatins from Japanese, we use Manji all the time in our everyday life.
It would be impossible to live in Japan without getting offended everyday if that was the case.
You'd be offended everytime you open a map, see a city guide at the station, or walk by a temple.More likely it was a "precaution" move to not offend sensitive foreigners when and if OP gets an audience outside.

That's a good catch and a solid basis for your argument. It's also possible that Oda just didn't think to do it with the first cover story and then started including it after that. Who knows, though, you may be right.
