Sanji joined the crew because of All Blue and Nami, but when the Pacifistas were destroying everyone, he was there, he tried his best ..he grabbed the pacifista's leg, that was an awesome scene, and this was his character development. Sanji also saved the Straw Hats several times, he saved Luffy in Arlong Park, he saved everyone in Arabasta, he saved Nami in Skypeia, he saved Ussop in Enies Lobby, he opened the gates of justice etc. So the truth is that Franky cant be compared to Sanji…Sanji is just great. Franky is funny but not enough to beat Sanji.
Thats all I have to say, Sanji is at least 10 times better...
I just thought it should be mentioned that as far as coolness goes…

Hmm, i disagree…Sanji is the only Strawhat and one of the very very few strong characters in OP who fights with his pure strenght, no weapons or devil fruit. That alone makes him pretty unique.

I totally agree with this. Sanji is a very smart strategist. He give Kuro a run for his money. I'd say he's the smartest male on the Straw Hat crew. (Maybe even the smartest out of the whole crew, but I don't know how he compares to Robin in intelligence.)

First of all, I think Sanji's a more solid character as a storytelling device. He can play both the straight man (at least before Kamabakka OHHHHHHHHH) or the goofball (with Zoro) fairly adeptly, and he works well in both serious and gag scenes without coming off as too hammy. He lends an important element of balance to the goofball-heavy Straw Hat ensemble. This is not to say that the goofiness of the other Straw Hats is unwelcome (or else I've been reading the wrong comic for a very long time!), but Sanji often provides a nice moderating influence. Other characters (Zoro, Robin, Nami) could fill that role, of course, but Sanji tends to get more consistent page time than Nami and Robin, and Zoro is usually up to his eyeballs in yet another sword fight with a similarly stony adversary.
Franky is big on gag factor, but kinda light on substance (and pants, obviously). He got his standard-issue One Piece "everyone I ever knew or loved is DEEEEEAD [except for Zeff, who just ate his leg]" pathos, and now he seems to be the point man for building-things-entirely-too-fast gags and public indecency. Unless Oda has something slick up his sleeve, I don't expect too much more from Franky. He still gets a chuckle out of me from time to time, though, and I gotta respect the Popeye arms.
As for the achievement flexing…well, Sanji has the natural advantage because he's been in the book longer. Highlights include:

- Prodigious culinary-themed trash talk ("There will be no need for dessert.")
- Setting his leg on fire and somehow not burning off his pants (that's Franky's turf). Apparently he buys from the same tailor as Fei Long.

- Phone-pranking Crocodile inside a house made of wax
- The aforementioned Bananawani beatdown
- Made Duval more hilarious, if not all that handsome, with his foot-assisted extreme makeover
- Looks at least as good as Franky in a Hawaiian shirt (see: anime version of Skypeia)
- Looks surprisingly good in a dress. There, I said it. I fully respect Sanji's alternate lifestyle.
- Tirelessly protects the entire crew from the number one threat on the Grand Line: scurvy.

I think someone said this before, but I wanted to mention it again. When the strawhats fought Baroque Works, Sanji was the only Strawhat to show his opponent the gesture of friendship. And good thing he did too because Bon-chan is a very powerful ally to the Strawhats.
Well, I'm not totally satisfied with this AMV. I really needed another day to make it perfect. It's still pretty cool though, IMO. Hopefully you guys like it.
