The guy was kinda balding and wore glasses if I remember correctly. Also, I didn't ask him personally, he announced to the whole panel when he brought up the release date of the next boxset. Everyone in the room heard it, unfortunatly I didn't have a camera to record so this is mostly by memory but I did write down "WILL be back" in my little notebook during the panel to remind myself. Like I said before though, this was just something the guy mentioned along with the boxset but he definatly said the One Piece videos will be back eventually, hopefully sooner rather than later but there is NO guarentee it will be soon.

If they are waiting until minutes before it streams to upload, then it should not matter too much if it gets hacked. Of course they would prefer to keep their files safe, but the main issue was the leak before airing in Japan.

We have already done what we could: Buy dvd sets. To tell you the truth i just bought one piece 4th voyage today and i already helped the franchise buy just doing that.

I have a friend who works at Funi who has had to put in some serious overtime since this happened. There has been no significant news since it happened really, except they're trying to fix the hacking problem and convince the companies to let them stream their titles. None of it sounds hard but it has to be way more complicated then it seems.
I don't know if contacting Toei would be the best thing, or if it would work. They were willing to put their programs up for stream but they don't want it being jacked. I don't think the problem is fixed, or its just a matter of them making sure it can't be hacked like that again. Like I said above it's got to be something more complicated then that.
This has no effect on the dubbing of the show and their releases of DVDs, this is only affecting web streaming.
They (being Funi) are seriously pissed off at fansubbers. Probably supporting them by buying the dvds is the least we could do right now. The guy I know practically seethes when someone starts talking about downloading/streaming anime from unofficial sources, the industry is really hurting right now with the economy and all being in the pits.

Interesting, but I kind of gathered Funi wasn't going after One Piece fansubs from the fact that they never once said anything to any One Piece fansub group yet were handing out C&D letters like madmen to other series' fansubbing groups (I recall D. Gray-Man and Katekyo Hitman Reborn groups specifically had C&D letters sent to them by Funi while Funi was working on getting rights to those series (the C&D letters basically threatened on the basis of the original companies rights at the time rather than Funi's)).
Arguably they could have been trying to get rid of fansubs via the simulcast, but that wouldn't have fully worked and I'm sure they realize this.
Edit - Good to see that they are searching out and getting rid of anything involved with the "hacking" incident. Good confirmation that they're leaving One Piece fansubs alone too (confirmation > a guess/assumption).

As a fansubber, I won't say much about them being pissed at fansubbers. I can understand how they feel, but as a fan of many of the series they release, I toss out my fansubs and buy the official DVDs, so in my mind I have little to no concious about it. Because I fully support Funi and what they do. But of course, others would argue otherwise, so I won't go into it.
Judging by the fact that the DVD release is speeding up, rather than slowing down, it's pretty much proven, if it already wasn't, that the DVDs are unaffected by all of this. So I'm happy about that much at least.

She probably didn't lie, but probably misheard when they said the Video Portal was coming back, that it was the simulcast too.
Getting One Piece back won't be Easy, they have to convince Toei, and we've already talked about how they can be.

Because we want the game? I think most people have given up on it coming to North America, but I still might send a "disappointed customer" letter to Namco Bandai for their customer service these past several months.

Funimation has no authority when it comes to the games anyway. Complaining, questioning, or requests to them won't do jack squat neither will it get you anywhere with Namco Bandai.
Indeed Funi is only responsible for the voice-work. They have no say in whether a game gets released or not and unfortunately One Piece simply isn't popular enough to make a profit on games*. On-topic it's just the same old waiting game we've been in since the leak. I wouldn't worry about it too much they'll iron it out soon enough and the fansubs aren't going anywhere.
*is delighted to finally get something in Europa which must be the first time since the ps1. (Yeah I know I had to rub it in, didn't I).
I still hold hope for older games to be released. I really want a Grand Adventure with the stuff that was cut out from Rush with FUNimation's cast. It's possible, I mean, they released DBZ: Ultimate Battle 22 like 7 years after it came out in Japan in 2003, after the Playstation had already halted production pretty much. Then again, DBZ was a phenomenon, but UB22 sucked balls.
Still, I want it. I also hope they eventually release Dragon Dream remade for the DS or something.

As I recal, I don't think they have ever really marketed the OP games really well. They just seem to appear. I heard of Adventure before it came stateside but I never really saw any advertisement (I'm sure they're in the game magazines I don't read anymore >_>) until I saw a copy at Game Stop. If they whored them out a bit more they would probably get more attention.
It doesn't help that it's not on TV right now either. It would be nice if they could get the unrated version on AS but there is probably 0 chance of that.
Yeah though Funimation DUBBED the game, they're not the ones who are bringing the game over.
Who knows what is going to happen, I think with the release of the DVDs the fandom might make a comeback in the US, especially if could land on TV again (AND NOT START AT THE BEGINNING >_> but thats wishful thinking), enough to get interest in the games, though just throwing the games out there when the series really hasn't been that readibly avalible then yeah, it's not going to do that good.
It also doesn't help that Adventure was really more a game for the real fans, if I did not love OP there is no way I would be playing this game (I finally got it not too long ago, not really far though XP). Also if I just followed the US releases of manga and anime, then I would not know wtf was going on and not really enjoy it either. That is probably what is hurting it the most is that it's way ahead of the American audiences…
