If they can't do normal things in real life thats there problem. They are not being tortured for rehabilitation purposes. Seeing a crippled man with no family, friends, job, or future because of his actions as a young-middle aged pirate would certainly stop the less willing out to sea. Its called a deterrent.

Because its common fucking sense sitting in a cell hardly compares to those experiences! Whith the exception of the severely claustrophobic, being put in a cell hardly effects people that have been shot at, actually shot, or actually shot people with little issue or been chased down by a big monster or survived through a ridiculous storm while at sea. What you're saying is 100% ridiculous when hardassed real criminals have no issue being sent to prison and even continue operating from within. ID Inmates can be compared to members of cartels, terrorists groups, violent extremist radicals, militants, or just plain psychos doing their thing.
Solitary confinement is only needed if they begin to cause trouble in the prison. And yeah that's perfect. What should the guards do? Nothing? If the prisoners decide to continue practicing piracy after being in jail i doubt that torture might help since they will really clamp themselves to that idea and endure the torture. And since they socialized in the prison twill know they are not alone hey and that might help them to face what you want to do to them.
You live in a fantasy land. If they're allowed to socialize they can simply plan to break out having no fear of serious repercussions or do what real criminals do and make allegiances for when they're back on the outside. You sound like someone who has lived a ridiculously sheltered life or are just plain delusional. Your last sentence certainly makes you seem the latter. Prison isn't an AA meeting and common thugs aren't going to harden themselves for torture. A few bucks and thrills isn't worth being put through hell for.
No torturing people and killing them is synonym to evil.
Nobody arguing these aren't evil acts but commiting evil acts doesn't make you evil. Any soldier ever is evil under you logic and so is luffy indiscriminately hurting innocent marines doing their job.
A prison without meaningless torture and meaningless killing. Did you realised that torture might even toughen up the worst prisoners in the world? If someone really decides to continue killing people after his prison sentence ID is actually like a training camp for him….
Pirates that are sentenced because they killed a lot of people might recive a life sentence. And if they are in jail and aren't supposed to be freed i don't see why they should be tortured or killed.
I don't thnk the argument "sadists need their addiction to be fulfiled and the innocent people who want revenge so much" is enough to justify what you suggest. Let's face it. The bastard has killed a lot of people. A lot of innocent people in the world are sad and wants revenge. Will death sentence or torture satisfy those people? Will it bring back the dead? If they can't deal with their pain then i suggest they should visit psychologists (well if something like that doesn't exists in the OP world then i dunno.) I mean they have to begin to understand that life goes on and that the killer will never be free again (if the guards and the prison fulfil what they are meant for.)
It obviously serves a practical purpose of allowing ID guards to keep thousand of them in line including many many superhuman who could handle any of the top staff 1on1 if they were at full strength.Which they would in your glorified detention facility where everybody is just supposed to sit down and think about what they did.
Obviously for the majority of the prisoners that is not true, especially pretty much everyone on levels 1-3. Level 6 maybe, but they're lifers&DR inmates anyways, 5&4 possibly but seeing level 4 its not the case for most of the inmates.

We saw that jimbei and croc are still able to pwn the ID staff (forget Magellan.) besides being tortured and starving. Mr.3 is still able to fight after enduring starvation. Mr.1 ….
Yes lets use Jinbei&Croc as examples of people unaffected by torture(sarcasm). A guy who was punched through bedrock and launched into the air a few hundred feet. Jinbei has only been in prison a few days and Barogue works agents a few months. Understandable they are just fine when you compare the torture to the ass whoopins that sent them to prison. Lets ignore the thousands of other prisoners who feel like total shit traumatized.
People that receive life sentence aren't meant to be convinced that what they did is false.
So you're advocating everybody in ID should just have a life sentence besides level 6. Fine idea even if its impractical. Would make for a boring arc however.
I don't know i which state/where you live. But you should comprehend that other countries don't have death sentence and torture prisons and they aren't going down because people exploit that and see the prisons as fine enjoying their sentence there only to continue the gangster life after it… And stop argumenting that the money spend on police and prisons is now the reason why you can't give sick guys a therapy…
Other countries are smaller and have the resources available to keep most of their populations happy thus less reasons to become a criminal. In a big country however, resources are spread thin and inevitably some areas suffer from economic&social issues. Bad people are able to take advantage of this fact and gangs start spread. Its worse in the OP world because the ocean is huge and marines cannot be everywhere, thus many more take advantage.
Did you even read what you wrote here? Common sense money no longer being used for one thign can be allocated to another. Money spent on prisons, police, nasa, and the military are bigass reasons schools, medical care, and other science branches don't recieve as much funding as they possible could.
You can't be serious to say that the WG is sending sick people like Sady to ID because of money while knowing that Carlos can spend 500 Mill berry just to buy a mermaid…. And you can't just argue for a government that sends a buster call against archeologists that do researches about the void history. People are happy and live peacefully as long as they are lucky enough not to be terrorized by corrupts marines and do not do researches about the history of the world. And as long as they do not question the authority of the WG everything is good. Reminds me of big brother....
Again nobody is arguing that. She exists, she could have become a pirate or random psycho on the street but she's now in ID keeping prisoners in line. Other points were just pointing out how naive you truly are. Seriously every incident is a isolated incident. They aren't lucky to not be terrorized, most people aren't because most marines aren't bad.

Every time it's shown the WG they've mostly been evil and corrupt.
Thats because we see them through the eyes of pirates who are always geting themselves into dangerous situations. If you open your eyes you'd see most of the time the marines do nothing but try to help people or are minding their own business while the native enforces do their thing.

They openly admit to being pirates once they put up a flag. Trials become nothing more than ritualized condemption when you bother putting one on for a clearly guilty plaintiffs. Though making an assumption these people never got a trial.

Yeah the hiring of a handful out of probably millions of WG/marines officers is done because they are corrupt. Absolutely not because those officials get the jobs, nobody else wants, done.

Even though they don't show ever evil act they do it's not the "evil marine showcase manga" it's about Luffy. And in almost every arc there's an evil WG official doing evil things.

Morgan installed himself as a tyrannical ruler of an entire town, Arlong paid them off and run a brutal slave society over an entire island, Croc sent two huge countries to war with eachother so he could try to take over the world, Wapol- another high end corrupt WG official, they tangle with Lucci who was promoted because of his ruthlessness in killing hundreds of civilians with his bare hands and Spandam another sick bastard who are black ops judge, jury and executioner running around doing whatever they want, genocide at ohara.. Shabondy.. it just keeps building and building. And I'm sure they rest of their dirty laundry is nothing compared to this.
Half these incidents were not done in the name of the government while again isolated incidents in a very big world. You continue to make baseless assumptions. I'd much rather an evil thats a couple of dicks on a boat somewhere then an evil that is in control of the entire planet. They may put up a facade of "fighting pirates" but they're really protecting themselves more than anyone.
