My reaction to this chapter was "meh." Like so many, really.
Naruto Discussion V [Re-Re-Redux]

-
Good chapter again, I liked. Flashbacks in story are always great.
-
If this was kishimoto years back this flashback would of had heart in it but now….ah I dunno.
Speaking of gintama...I need to start reading that series again.
-
I have not watched Naruto for a LONG time (Last episode I saw was 13) and I wanted to start it up again. Thing is I just realized that Dattebayo has stopped subbing Naruto =(
-
Asking that on a One Piece board? Jeez, what are ya? You're probably better off asking in some Naruto-loving community.
-
Hate team, go! Tear him apart!
-
Chapter was below par even for Naruto, if you don't agree go back and read the series from the start (Where it was once good).
-
My, don't generic and pointless flashback sequences suck.
-
the fuck just happened?
-
Wahooo! Even the Boa Hancock flashback owned Nagato's! And it went just for three panels!
Seriously, I feel sorry for the dog though.

Yeah Boa did have it pretty tough.
-
@The:
Yeah Boa did have it pretty tough.
I know! And I thought I was the only one who thought she's a bitch for most of the chapters! ;)
But the flashback explains it all, doesn't it?
Now we'll just have to see if she just barks or if she can bite, aswell!About the chapter:
What the hell are those black rods that were shot into Nagato just after he summoned that…thing? Where in the hell did that come from?
I'm confused now...since 30 chapters ago. -
…where the frak did that giant monster come from? Was that Rinegan power or... a random tailed beast or...? (And could that guy look any more like Sasuke/Itachi? The hair, the colar, the crossed out headband...) And is that really the extent of Pain's "pain"? others have had it WAY worse in this series... let alone in the real world. certainley nothing that justifies randomly nuking an entire village Hiroshima style.
And Naruto's answer? Might as well have said "42" for all that ammounted to after 2 months of buildup.
WEAK, confusing, anti-climactic chapter in every way.
sigh can we just get to the secret end-boss monster in the moon already and be done with this series? I'm really starting to think our joke really would have been better.
They'll be back. Konan will show up as a medic ninja and Nagato will come back walking. They'll try to get revenge against Madara but then a oragami PWNSLUG will appear out of nowhere and tell them to wait for Sasuke. He's currently about to fight Madara. You'll only get in his way. Then Sasuke will unleash his just revealed 8 tailed form, (him getting it is an off camera secret surprise) and everyone will panic. But then he'll turn back to normal after Itachi appears in his mind and continue fighting. Sasuke will then defeat Madara will his Chidori. As he dies Madara will have a redeeming final speech and reveal he was holding back all along, because there was actually a greater threat … IN THE MOON!
Flashback time: Rikodou created the moon using the power of the Rinnegan. Inside it he sealed the legendary 10 tail beast. The Mewten. The original hokage, the first Uchiha, and Choji's grandfather were also in on this conspiracy.
Now knowing the truly true truth about the past, Sasuke vows to destroy Konohoa even more, still unaware that its a massive crater in the ground. The fact that Konan is standing there hearing all of this is completley forgotten a panel later when it starts raining.
Its a month and a half and 6 chapters later, and I still like our terrible bad version better. Sad.

Unfortunately I think Shueisha is probably forcing Kishi to pull a Toriyama, stretch everything out as long as possible so Naruto can get "close to an ending but not end". (yeah I know, Toriyama was forced to make up more content but I guess for once they realize that Kishi has a master plan so stretching is their only other option) The only bit of good news: once Nagato finally leaves/dies/gains enlightenment/returns to homeworld and die along the way, that's one step closer to the end of the series.
-
I love it when Robby posts, it's like Christmas.

This week on "Ninja Book Club"…er, Naruto
! Not much to say: Naruto and Nagato talk about Jiraiya and his book and such. The chapter ends with Nagato making hand seals saying "I've wanted to believe in you".
! Ending can be taken either way: either Nagato doesn't get it and still wants to fight…or Naruto's won him over and is giving him something...more likely the latter knowing this series. -

Can't we all just get alo-
Fuck it.
GET TO FIGHTING ALREADY.
-
MEH!!!!!! Just too meh!
-
This manga is terrible.
-
Meh sounds like another chapter of our lives wasted. They might as well make this mess into a Uwe Boll film.

I wonder, doesn't he usually go for video game adaptations? So we'd probably end up with a terrible director making a terrible movie based off a shit-storm of terrible games based off a terrible manga written by a terrible mangaka. With that much terrible going for it, it could only be great.

How to define Naruto in three word:
(sings horribly) FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINGS!!! WOAHOWAOWA FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINGS!!!
Now excuse me while I anticipate real ninja action in Gintama.
-
Whatever happened to this manga actually being one of the high's of my fridays?
Now it deals with feelings. Its like 4kids came and slightly influenced Kishimoto into stopping with the BAM IN YOU FACE action that Naruto once held.
I swear, If we get another one of these "BAWWWW" Chapters next week Im going to quit this shit.

Yes, Naruto's downfall is incorporating emotion, rather then hilariously pathetic melodrama with flails at addressing world peace.
Emotion is gayyyyy!!!
What are you 12?
-
was part 1 not filled with emotion?
What about every rookie's freaking sob story? :O
The only difference is Naruto's solution in part 1 is: I don't care about that! blah, blah! Fight!
which isn't in anyway better than this.
-
Feelings are nice and all, but Naruto overdid it.
I don't wanna remember the emotional rollercoaster that crashed into the wall with fullspeed…
aka. the "Sasuke vs. Itachi" fight aftermath. If it were for great emotional moments I'd be happy!
The One piece flashbacks are what I love about the series cause they make my eyes teary...
But this Nagato Flashback, the whole whining about "Pain" (fuck this stupid pun) and the conclusion Naruto found?
Just no.I will wait for the whole chapter though...
maybe Kishimoto can save this with a nice presentation (as he did with Hinata's sacrifice last time). -

So then all is lost….

maybe this time he'll actually kill hinata

SASUKE JUST KILLED HIS FUCKING BROTHER!!! Are you serious? Why is it that most manga/anime fans are so cold hearted? I bet you wouldn't be smiling all the damn time if you just killed your brother/mom/dad or someone you held dearly, yet when a cartoon character does, it's emo, and they need to get over themselves.
It's the "Luffy wants to save Ace" bullshit all over again. "Luffy should be going after his crew instead..." wtf?
Now the rage over Nagato I can understand. As he's just some psycho path who nuked a village after already getting his revenge on those who made his life miserable.
Sasuke has had no retribution for all the bloodshed, everyone he's ever cared about is dead, and to make matters worse, Konoha went and lied to the whole world about what had happened. So forgive Sasuke for crying just a bit. :getlost:
-
Question.
Has Naruto actually ever intentionally killed anyone?
I'm just wondering if the, "My character is pure n' junk.", carries over into this series as well.

Well, he technically killed Kakuzu. Kakashi was the actual person that finished him off, but Naruto fucked his life up.
And I guess if you count Kimimaro…
-
Kimmaro died because of his own disease while fighting Gaara.

it's his own fault for being a fucking retard bent on REVEGNE and not listening to kakashi
-
Kimmaro died because of his own disease while fighting Gaara.
Yeah, I know, that's why I say "if you count that." It was a combination of Naruto, Lee, and Gaara pushing him while he was sick that caused him to crap out.

Yeah I agree that Itachi's death itself was emotional, in a way that I do no criticize.
What I do criticize is the godawful aftermath and the gigantic amount of plottwists concerning their whole relationship.Luffy and Ace is simple and clean:
He's my brother, I care for him, I gotta save his ass no matter what.Sasuke and Itachi on the other Hand:
He's my brother, who's been my rolemodel, but now is my enemy who I want to kill after he killed my whole family
because he just felt like it, but actually he just did it so I would hate him, so I can get funny magical eyes,
so he can get one funny magical eye from me, but actually he REALLY did it cause everyone is a traitor
and HE is in fact the good guy who had to kill my whole family and told me to live and hate
so I can get the funny magical eyes to protect myself,
so ultimately he saved my ass and now I have to destroy the whole freaking village because of it.OVERLOAD…

Well not a person but a thought and that's the thought that creates "good" writing.

I didn't see emotion at all in that fight. The whole Sasuke/Itachi fight was just overstretched, overdone and overblown. I see there are concepts that really could have been done better or weren't that bad, but other than that, it was either my 'anti-Uchiha' feelings or just how Kishi blew it before, during and after what was the most hyped fight in the series…but I just didn't get what was intended.
-
I got a wee bit emotional during Itachi's death (his death, not the fight) but yeah, the entire thing as a whole was a complete let-down after all that freaking build up.
Luffy and Ace put Sasuke and Itachi to shame.
-
Itachi's fight was among the absolute WORST shit that Kishimoto's ever done. I was seriously disgusted at how terrible it was, especially considering that it was the one fight that had been hyped since like chapter two of the series.
Itachi's sendoff, on the other hand, was pretty damned sad. And despite how convoluted everything was, his actions actually kind of made sense.
…of course, then Sasuke had to go and piss all over his brother's sacrifice and everything he believed in... fucking retard.
-
Itachi vs. Sasuke was the worst case of "cowboys and indians" I've seen besides Bleach.
-
It was needlessly dragged out with all of those fakeouts. Not to mention how Itachi kept pulling out these ridiculous, goldy techniques with no chakra. Sasuke must've taken after his brother in that regard. The only part I really enjoyed was how contrived Zetsu's commentator role came off as.
''First, I'm going to tell you how I'm going to remove your eyes. Then, I'm going to make you feel what it's like to lose your eyes. And then maybe I'll, y'know, actually take your eyes.''
-
Zetsu alone makes that worth re-reading. Good ol' zetsu and during that fight I thought kishimoto would go back and fourth between sasuke vs. itachi to Suigetsu vs. Kisame while yugo and karin watch now that would of been alot better.
-
Gah, I had a crazy (re: crazy) thought. What if Itachi and Sasuke learned they had a even younger brother, one that Itachi managed to save and send away to safety. Eventually, learning this–somehow (re: somehow)--sets Sasuke back onto a right mindframe. Sasuke asks a Hokage Naruto to be this third Uchiha's 'big brother' and sensei until he can call himself a Leaf Shinobi again.
Crazy, crazy thought.
-
^ Sounds like something some crazy American comic book writer would do.
-
Well, I had a thought sorta like that, but more of a story plot. It was of a girl who thought she had the sharingan who was found by naruto's team (pre or timeskip) which makes them start to think she's nuts. She's not an uchiha so she's not supposed to have it. But her mindset makes her believe she has the magic eyes. In some battle, she does somehow activate the eyes and that makes some people start to think that the magic eyes everyone has aren't there because of bloodlines, but because they truly believe they have them. So the idea I have is basically just about destroying the idea everyone had of bloodline techniques and creating a new form of mindset in the story or fighting techniques or something like that.
