Here's an idea. How about this:
1st (1-13) Season 1
2nd (14-26) S1
3rd (27-39) S1
4th (40-53) S1
5th (54-67) Season 2
6th (68-79) S2
7th (80-92) S2
8th (93-104) S2
9th (105-117) Season 3
10th (118-130) S3
11th (131-143) S3
12th (144-156) Season 4
13th (157-169) S4
14th (170-193) S4
15th (194-206) S4
With this season two would be normal length and season three just a little short. And skypiea/G8 could be season four. Sure it doesn't follow YBM's arc division, but season one didn't so it doesn't matter. All the sets would range from 12 to 14 eps, making everyone happy. I know the this doesn't match the TV seasons but you have to remember that funimation was trying to continue 4kids' seasons and due to all of there cutting and merging, 4kids ending up cutting out 39 eps, a little short of a traditional season of 50 or 52. So funi doesn't have to follow the TV season. This would also follow odex's releases somewhat. But i guess it really doesn't matter as long as we get our eps.

I still say Second Voyage getting 10 episodes should either get a price cut or additional extras. To me, THAT would make up for the lack of episodes.
-
Sometimes in life that sort of thing doesn't happen. Besides, most people get the set for a figure in the thirties so it'd not THAT expensive.
-
@Yuugi's:

Oh yeah, the most I've paid for one of the sets out of pocket was the most recent one at 37.49 (technically the amount paid for set #2 was more but out of pocket it was the cheapest by far) so I know I probably won't be paying that much for it.
And I would rather see more episodes per set than less anyways. I know I'm not alone in this opinion. The sets ending on good points is nice but it's not that big a deal to me. Set 4 ended on a GREAT point, but if it had ended an episode earlier it wouldn't have made me upset or not buy the set.
-
uhh, its times like these i hate being 13 and legally cant get a job yet. I ordered season 1 part 3 yesterday, that was made from all change i found in school and on streets for the past 6 months, and i cant get part 4, or s2 part 1 yet, GRR, i hate being behind!
-
Hmm…..
Season Two First Voyage- Eps 54-66
Season Two Second Voyage- Eps 67-79
Season Two Third Voyage- Eps 80-92
Season Two Fourth Voyage- Eps 93-105
Season Two Fifth Voyage- Eps 106-118
Season Two Sixth Voyage- Eps 119-130That's how I see it.
-
Why does everyone Give Season 2 6-8 Voyages?!
-
'Cause most see Season 2 as the Baroque Works saga, which is long as hell.
-

Well, it was pretty much a given they'd want Season One to end on 53, and if we take 144-195 as being Season Three (which in all likeliness, is what it will be) it leaves about seven sets of material to throw around. Any way we scratch it we either get [sets of 14-14-14-14-14-14-7] or seven sets…of 13.
Well, now that we all know I can't count, I suppose it doesn't matter which one FUNi goes with. I'll keep emotionally detatched so as not to be dissapointed with whatever choice is chosen.
-
I am still saying 206 will be the end of season 3. Especially when they kept on tossing 205 as the end of season 3 originally (which makes no sense due to it is one ep before the last). The format is the simple answer. With FUNi pushing Blu as they have… I don't doubt it being an option later on for season 4. They already showed that they have interest of OP on Blu with movie 8.
-
I'm gonna say this once more.
6-8 Voyages for Season 2 is REALLY long, and I dont think it's gonna happen.
It's probably gonna be 3 voyages for Season 2 and 4 for Season 3 (which will be Arabasta) and then Season 4 will start with Jaya -
Except that FUNimation already said they're counting Jaya/Skypiea as season 3.
-

For the TV broadcast, yes.
Because of 4kids chopping the hell out of it.
Who is to say they wont restructure it now that the Episode count has been restored? -
Though Its not like its out of the ordinary for some seasons to have more episodes than others.
Personally, I like the idea of each season being centered around the arcs, it makes the seasons feel "complete".
-
My suggestion:
SEASON TWO
First Voyage- 54-67 (Ends nicely, IMO)
Second Voyage- 68-81 (Ends at the middle of the mountain climb
Third Voyage- 82-95 (Ends when Ace "joins" the crew)
Fourth Voyage- 96-109 (Ends at Rainbase)SEASON THREE:
First Voyage- 110-122 (Begins with Luffy vs Crocodile, Round 1, ends with Round 2)
Second Voyage- 123-135 (Splits up the filler nicely)
Third Voyage- 136-147 (Ends with Blackbeard's intro)
Fourth Voyage- 148-159 (Ends right before Satori fight)SEASON FOUR:
First Voyage- 160-171 (Ends with Eneru's arrival on the ship)
Second Voyage- 172-183 (Ends at Maxim's rise)
Third Voyage- 184-195 (Finishing up Skypiea)
Fourth Voyage- 196-206 (G-8)I dunno so much about Three and Four, but I could see Season Two possibly playing out like that.

Hey, the local Best Buy has Fourth Voyage available in the store. (But not Third Voyage.) Its one of the stores that didn't clear out their anime section.
So does this mean that the stores that have higher anime sales are stocking the series again?
EDIT: And its cheaper too, $35.99 .

Nami drinking to the point of insanity and passing out,

Ooo, that's exciting! But I'll still probably do a lot of my anime buying through RightStuf.
-
My Best Buy has it too from tracking avaiablity. Hopefully the Third voyage/anime restructure incidnet was a one off event.

Well, the economy isn't exactly doing so hot right now, so I'm guessing buying anime DVDs is a little low on people's priority list.
EDIT: Then again that would apply to a LOT of what Best Buy sells, but Best Buy also does major appliances. I wonder if that's why Best Buy survived and Circuit City didn't?

Same. I have long since been in love with RightStuf, anyway. I'm still bewhildered at getting a series box set for $30…

Technically, according to the japanese season, the whole Chopper arc is season three which is actually 13-14 episodes.
-
Ugh, wish I had the money to buy these dvd's, if people would repay my damn money…....
-
Sorry, I haven't been on here in a while, so I don't know if this has been posted.
http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827/catalogmgr/XZZz84VN5Megr0CQcX/browse/item/83239/4/784/204It is rightstuff's listing for season 2 first voyage. It comes out June 30th. It is a 3 month wait. If you read closely you can see a major typo. Monkey B. Luffy. Damn that sucks. That is as bad as the Landing Monkey and Zoro line from the Fourth Voyage box.
-
That cover is still one of my favs.
-
I went ahead and pre-ordered Season 2 First Voyage from RightStuf.

I do believe Japan is confused as to what "seasons" actually mean and are confusing the term with "arcs" or "sagas." Mainly because seasons don't exactly exist for anime airing in Japan.
-
Don't they have like "Sets" instead?
-
Well, if you haven't gotten the first four sets RightStuf is doing 10% off all in-stock items (I don't think S2FV counts), although they have Third Voyage listed at MSRP.
-
Got my copy of Fourth Voyage today at Best Buy. Quite surprising since they didn't have Third Voyage after it came out, but I'm not complaining.
Funny story, the cashier asked me if One Piece was any good, and I replied "It's VERY good. Better than Naruto". He said he does watch Naruto and was interested in seeing One Piece. Maybe my comment has spurred his interest even futher to watch/read it. One can hope.

Gundam 00 & Code Geass had seasons. :ninja:

But Isn't that What FUNi already does with DBZ?
Season 1 - Saiyan, Season 2 - Namek, Season 3 - Freeza, Season 4 - Artificial Humans, Season 5 - Cell, Season 6 - Cell Games, Season 7 - Babidi, Season 8 - Majin Boo, Season 9 - Super & Small Boo Part 2 [End].Adding that ONE Episode to the last Voyage implies to me they're following a similar path with One Piece, since it made the Season end PERFECTLY at the end of the East Blue Saga (if you don't Count Apis, since it's filler)
I see it going like this:
Season 1 - East Blue
Season 2 - First Voyage 54-66 (or 67 if they listen to YBM)
Second Voyage 67 - 78 (Ends on the VERY first Ep of Drum, good teaser for next volume)
Third Voyage 79 - 91 (All of Drum)
Season 3 - Arabasta, it lines up perfectly and you only have to lose one Episode from second Voyage (if they make First Voyage end at 67, you could take One Episode each from the other two voyages and it balances out perfectly. If you include the Post Arabasta Filler and the Rainbow mist with season 3, then Season 3 will be exactly 4 voyages and will line up with…
Season 4 - Skypiea. This season will start EXACTLY on 144 if they follow this plan, and will last for EXACTLY Four Voyages, it's perfect, Every season almost will be able to be 4 voyages, will Match up with the Major Story arcs and everything! And you only have to have One season be 3 voyagesHell, I wish I knew how to get in touch with a FUNi rep, I'd formalize this and send it to them.
-
Toon Zone has a thread in which two FUNi reps check: http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=123385
-
Hmm. The thread YBM sent us two says that Season Two Third Voyage is going to be December/January.
So . . . September-ish for Season Two Second Voyage?
-
ok, Posted at Toon Zone.
This was my post:@Me:
why is Season 2 this UNGODLY long?!
I know that's how the seasons were originally broken down for the Broadcast, but the 4kids Broadcast cut 39 episodes worth of material. doesn't that warrant a re-definition of the seasons?
Why not make Season 2 3 Voyages long, then it will cover everything in the Grand line up until they arrive at Arabasta, then EVERY season thereafter would work out PERFECTLY, they'll be able to all be only 3 or 4 Voyages long, and they'll fit the Major Story Arcs Perfectly. Like this:Season 2 1st Voyage: Apis,Laboon,Whiskey Peak (Episodes 54-67)
Season 2 2nd Voyage: Little Garden (Episodes 68-77)
Season 2 3rd Voyage: Drum Island (Episodes 78-91)
Season 3 1st Voyage: Arabasta part 1 (Episodes 92-104)
Season 3 2nd Voyage: Arabasta part 2 (Episodes 105-117)
Season 3 3rd Voyage: Arabasta part 3 (Episodes 118-130)
Season 3 4th Voyage: Post Arabasta filler (Episodes 131-143)
Season 4 1st Voyage: Skypiea part 1 (Episodes 144-156)
Season 4 2nd Voyage: Skypiea part 2 (Episodes 157-169)
Season 4 3rd Voyage: Skypiea part 3 (Episodes 170-182)
Season 4 4th Voyage: Skypiea Part 4 (Episodes 183-195)
Season 5 1st Voyage: G8 - Steel Fortress (Episodes 196-206)
Season 5 2nd Voyage: The Davy Back Fight (Episodes 207-218) [Series Becomes Widescreen)
Season 5 3rd Voyage:Ocean's Dream and Aokiji (Episodes 219-228) [Another 10-Episode box, but it makes things line up perfectly]
Season 6 1st Voyage: Water Seven Part 1 (Episodes 229-241)
Season 6 2nd Voyage: Water Seven Part 2 (Episodes 242-254)
Season 6 3rd Voyage: Water Seven Part 3 (Episodes 229-266)
Season 7 - Enies Lobby. How You Handle This Season depends entirely on how the Strawhat Flashback Episodes are handled. But doing it in a fashion similar to this would make sure EVERY season is either Three or Four Voyages, so you get consistancy, wheras otherwise you'd have Season Two which would be INCREDIBLY LONG in comparison to the rest of them, and with some SLIGHT Tweaking here and there, they line up perfectly to the Major Story arcs, which is how the DBZ DVDs did it.
And anytime you have to do a 10-Episode Set, just add a neat extra to the Disc and decrease the price slightly.
Like, I'm sure nobody would object to a Straw-Hat Pirates Flag coming with the DVD. -
Why do you call it Skypiea filler and not Skypiea part 4?
-
Why do you call it Skypiea filler and not Skypiea part 4?
I copied and pasted the Arabasta stuff, which said "Post Arabasta Filler" to make that season, and forgot to change "Filler" to "Part 4" XD
-
Hahaha…okay. I know that there are a lot of people who dislike Skypiea, but part 4 makes that arc for me, so I'm a little defensive.
-
@The:
Gundam 00 & Code Geass had seasons. :ninja:
While 00's sequel is listed as "Second Season", Code Geass has nothing suggesting its sequel as a "season" but merely as a continuing series.
It's basically among the lines of the transition from Dragon Ball to Dragon Ball Z, since both Code Geass series' have two different subtitles after the main title.
-
Personally, I'd rather keep the Baroque stuff in Season Two rather than redefining the seasons at this point, because it'll probably only wind up causing trouble down the line.
I also don't foresee sets ever being reduced in price.
-

New sets? No, probably not. But I can reasonably see the sets being re-issued later on (i.e. a few years from now) with a lower price. But this wouldn't be for a while if it were to happen.

Yeah, like what Viz is doing to Naruto boxsets.
-
Yeah, it'll be a while before FUNimation's One Piece sets hit their Viridian line. Probably even longer until we get complete season sets ala YYH.
-

What trouble could it possibly cause?
and I just meant dropping the price slightly if the episode count was dropped.
Like, only 10 Episodes, charge 45 MSRP instead of 50 (so it would inevitably be lower online) -
I don't even think we should speculate anything after Arabasta, because well, things change….
Season 2 First Voyage- 54-66 (Apis, Laboon, Whiskey Peak)
Season 2 Second Voyage- 67-79 (Mainly Little Garden)
Season 2 Third Voyage- 80-92 (Mainly Drum Island)
Season 2 Fourth Voyage- 93-105 (Arabasta Desert Journey)
Season 2 Fifth Voyage- 106-118 (Arabasta War Part 1)
Season 2 Sixth Voyage- 119-131 (Arabasta War Part 2)And thus begins Season 3. As for ep 131 being part of the "Post-Arabasta" arc, I actually think it works better in Season 2 because this is a great ep because it digs into Nico Robin and Chopper, the new crew members from Season 2.
But, if they HAD to make it perfectly, they could just have Sixth Voyage as 12 eps, I'm sure no one would complain (better than 10 episodes anyways).
-
People people, to end this discussion, why is so many people concerned with dividing the DVDs by storyline? It's a lot less trouble if we have normal Seasons of 4 voyages with 13 episodes each and sometimes 14 in special ocassions.
What we should be worried is about the Enies Lobby mid-filler/characters backstories and the 4 specials that suddenly Toei decided to number with the serie instead of nameing them appart like the first 4 specials and how Funi is going to handle that.
-
Pre-ordered ST1stV from Best Buy. I'm gonna go through hell waiting. But I got rid of my reward zone coupons. (Good thing, otherwise I was gonna use them on Lucky Star.)
Got SO4thV this past April Fools so yeah, when they mean uncut they mean uncut. Either I didn't notice on the other sets or they have really been upping the language here.

Lol, sorry, but you missed a massive discussion on how "uncut" (or is it?) 4th voyage is.
On a different note, I'm hoping we can get Season 2: 3rd voyage out by December. Especially with how OP-deprived Viz and Namco Bandai are making us here. At least we have our subs…
-
Apparently you guys did. Shame, oh well. I got it, I watched it, and I enjoyed it. That's all there is to it.

Also: I got the One Piece shirts at Hot Topic for less than $5 today - apparently they are on super clearance now.
EDT: I made a mistake. Whoops. Sorry guys! I thought a Funi Rep said something when it was really a fan prediction, but the fan prediction (Season Two Third Voyage December/January) is a practical estimate, I'd say.
