Although I'm looking forward to the return of Bon Kurei as well, my favorite Baroque Member has always been Daz Bones. Once I see him head will explode.
Easily the next nakama.
Position- Superhero.

Sogeking is a King, and also isn't a full member.
I'm really interested in seeing Jinbei's fighting skills. Seeing as how him and Ace have fought and almost killed each other in the past, he's bound to have a really big can of awesomeness up his sleeve. He's only, what, the most powerful fishman currently alive?
Also, the upcoming meeting between Luffy, his brother, Jinbei and Croc is gonna be awesome. I hope it's not gonna be too rushed, but that they have time to at least have a moment of complete 'surprise, luffy just broke through the entire Impel Down'-induced wtf-ness and a quick chat.
Yeah, it was in an interview.
So far all of the pirate staples have only been used on hardcore people:
Bandanna = Zoro
Dagger in mouth = Zoro
Peg-leg = Zeff
Hook = Croc
Bird on Shoulder = Lucci (I'm hoping for this to be replaced by a badass
with a mini Southbird)Eyepatch = ?????
I forget are pet monkeys common during the pirate age or in pirate fiction? or have I watched the POTC trilogy too many times?
Badass with a Southbird FTMW!
We also just need some strange, creepy, decrepit, semi-pervy, old man with a glass eye, and a midget but again this is probably from too much POTC lol….
Yeah the pet monkey thing was POTC. Monkeys make better characters than parrots.
A glass eye sounds cool and in pirate media there are a lot of midgets. Hmm…
Not till now. The Shabondy Archipelago arc was a lot better. Till now I actually prefer the Kuja isle too. But we're still not even at level 3(they're going there now), so I expect things to heat up from level 4 and later on.
If you are talking about in terms of 1 vs 1s then you have a point, but this arc is pretty fun when it comes down to the situational concept. I never expected ID to be a generic "fight one big boss on each floor to proceed" concept. This concept is alot better since there's tons of variety in enemy types, floor types and whatnot. Even if they are not as strong as Luffy, it does make an entertaining and nearly endless gauntlet of fun. It's nice buildup, that's certianly more creative than SA's buildup(though it was neccessary).
Still holding my gound. Most exiting arc ever. Can't wait to see Bon Clay,Mr.1, and whoever we may have forgotten.
Great chapter, lol @ Luffy with that lion thing playing wack-a-mole…..anywho, can't wait to get to Level 6, then it will be escapee team plus Hancock, Ace, and Junbei vs. Impel Down (I FREAKIN' HOPE), that would be the best!
Now, for level 3, I'm calling for either Mr. 2 or someone most likely from the Jaya arc to join.....Bellamy!

I'm sure we'll get to the 1 on 1s eventually though.

Heck yeah, though I question when and who.
Franky and Mr.2 has the same voiceactor in the anime. Wont it be weird to hear Mr.2 again in the anime later? I will be all like "damn what is franky doing in ID?"
Also, the upcoming meeting between Luffy, his brother, Jinbei, Croc, Hancock and Magellan is gonna be awesome.
fixed for even more awesomeness xD

And I am sure that the final boss will be Ace.
Sometimes people forgets the most little things, you must remember the fight between Ace and Blackbeard and the fact that Teach told Ace that he wanted to kill Luffy. We don´t know the second half of the fight between Teach and Ace and it is possible that in Oda script Teach wasn´t interested in Ace at the beginning but being the little bro in danger the big bro. sacrificed himself
Do you believe that the reaction from Ace when he will know that Luffy is in Impel Down trying to rescue him will be one made of happiness?
I'm sure Ace will be pissed something mighty, 'cause his brother is recklessly endangering himself, and there's also his pride and stuff that Luffy pointed out when saying that he wouldn't help him back in Thriller Bark, and then there's Luffy breaking the promise they made to meet each other as enemy pirates…
Yeah, I'd be very surprised if this arc ends without Ace punching Luffy and yelling at him for doing something so stupid. And I'm sure when the Straw Hats finally reunite some of them will probably have a few words for him too...

About Luffy's crew, you're totally wrong, about Ace, at most he'll scold Luffy a bit.
a great chapter.
The return of Crocodile is epic, still talking big.
I seriously like seeing mr. 3 in action again.

I dunno, I personally wouldn't put it past Zoro to deck him and give another speech on responsibility and duty to both his crew and family, or some such. I mean, there's no way that they're not going to be concerned.

No agreement here. Ace looks pretty despondent right now and the war that is coming up where so many people will die (including quite possibly his captain) is his fault for getting captured. If he can get freed by any means in order to attempt to prevent the war (even if it's due to the help of his younger brother), I'm sure he'll be grateful. This goes double for Jimbei.
There's a time and place for pride and it is not right now. Pride is not more important than saving the lives of your nakama.
@Crossword:

Don't agree with this either. Zoro was also willing to go help Ace when it was proposed post-Thriller Bark. Given the amount of respect Zoro has for Luffy, I'm sure he'll understand why Luffy chose to go after Ace first rather than the crew.
Ace will definitely be the final boss of the arc, there's no question of that. But I think it will be in part to Crocodile's gloating. Out of all the Shichibukai (present and former), Croc seems to be the most persuasive and deceitful. Doflamingo is pompous and rude, Mihawk and Kuma are men of few words, Moria is loud and obnoxious, Hancock (in her outward appearance) is stuck-up and rude, Jimbei is fairly humble, and Teach is… well, Teach.
@Fire Fist:

Do you mean "arc" or the whole story?
Because Ace fighting Luffy in this situation would be nothing but stupid.
the final boss of this arc is probably the poison guy
Even if Asce was pissed at Luffy for breaking him out, Luffy could always surprise him by punching him and saying "If a pirate decides to do something, he does it; why should I stand here and get lectured by you for doing what I want to?"
@Fire Fist:

plus jimbei would be cool with ace being freed as it might stop wb risking his life, and turn his attentions to bb for killing a crew member. either way im sure he wouldn't hold a grudge, he would probably be more pi$$ed off with himself for getting captured in the 1st place, thus putting luffy in the situation, im sure ace would do the same if luffy was in prison
cant wait to see crocodiles face when he see's luffy….........and getting really pissed off when luffy cant even remember his name lol
Could you explain yourself please, because right now you sound retarded.
Now now, let us give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he just means that Ace will have the final fight of the arc. He is probably stronger than Luffy after all.
Could you explain yourself please, because right now you sound retarded.
I love how you talk down to everything you don't comprehend or disagree with, like you think it's so cool. So amusing.
Anyway, the point is, Ace worries about his little brother, knew full well the consequences of losing the duel he fought with Teach. Luffy is endangering his life and dishonoring Ace by rushing headlong into Impel Down to rescue him. Plus, with a little goading from Crocodile, Ace can easily be made to be extremely pissed at Luffy for attempting this. I mean, honestly, if Ace wanted to escape, don't you think he would've asked his grandfather (Garp) for help?

WOW…..................
You actually think Ace would beat the sh*t outta Luffy for saving him???
OR
That Garp would just bust his grandson out of jail like that?????

I guess no one gets what I'm trying to say here. Oh well. And how easily you forget Robin's ENTIRE ARC.
You think Ace is just gonna give Luffy a Hearty Handshake and a "Thanks for rescuing me, let's split!"? That's a pretty naive view on things.
Anyone else see Luffy and his prison group going through an event similar to being captured in Rainbase? That would even be funny if Croc was there next to him to laugh at the irony.

Please tell me which chapter/situation you're referring to. I know there was something said about a "Luffy helping Ace" situation, but I can't remember what or where it was.
"Fire Fist" Ace is talking about the part where Robin refused to be rescued.
But no, I don't think that's gonna happen. At most, Ace will say "wth are you crazy?", to say "Ace will definitely be the final boss of the arc, there's no question of that." is kinda dumb. If you're getting this idea from the Robin arc, remember that Robin never attacked SH pirates. Refusing to be rescued and being the final boss are two very distant things.

[sarcasm] Ohhhh, I got it, I got it, I see where your coming from now…...Ace is gonna be pissed at Luffy for rescuing him and is gonna beat the crap outta him for saving him and then he'll escape with everyone else and leave the impel down guards to take care of the rest......wow, how can I not see that! Shame...Shame on me! [/sarcasm]

Agrees!

Obviously Ace will reveal himself to be the mastermind behind this entire war and the catalyst/initiator of BB's DF and newly acquired shichi status along with the death of Thatch. He's gonna shank Jinbei in the back and burn off his brother's arm in a grueling match on top of sea kings. What manga have YOU been reading?

lol, damn, you should have put that in spoiler tags, time to get banned!
This needs to happen in the manga at some point.
Agreed. Wouldn't be a great manga without it.

Seakings are overrated and so weak for fights stages post ID. EPIC fights to the deaths should only be held on top of Sphinxs. And the consequences of falling off the Sphinx means your now in a life and death game of whack-a-mole.

Not if they're the huge rare ass blood thirsty sea kings from the calm belt and that other one from the Little Garden Arc.
Sphinxes are okay but they wouldn't stand a chance against a magikarp
So it seems like the majority of the commentators in this thread agree that Luffy WILL MEET Ace in this Arc, and the situation will not be that of Ace being taken away without even seeing Luffy. Interesting!
What makes people so sure that Luffy will meet Ace at Impel Down?
@Fire Fist:
Luffy is endangering his life and dishonoring Ace by rushing headlong into Impel Down to rescue him.
Dishonor nothing; if Luffy manages to rescue Ace (and Jimbei), he may very well be able to prevent a lot of peoples' deaths as well as accidentally protecting Fishman Island. Ace is not going to beat his brother to death for saving Ace's nakama and possibly even his captain that he idolizes.
@Fire Fist:
Plus, with a little goading from Crocodile, Ace can easily be made to be extremely pissed at Luffy for attempting this.
I agree with me0me; Ace doesn't seem the type to be so easily and thoroughly manipulated like that.
@Fire Fist:
I mean, honestly, if Ace wanted to escape, don't you think he would've asked his grandfather (Garp) for help?
He did; he asked Garp to kill him.

What makes you so sure he won't?

Thank you all for clearing up FFA's obvious mistake. Though if he truly sees Ace as being the Final Boss as akin to Kuro, Croc or Wapol then he's fucking retarded.
He did; he asked Garp to kill him.
That's not quite the same as asking for help. ^^
But well, if it was ok for him to be killed to prevent the war from happening, why should being rescued be less ok?
PS: that's not a zero in the middle of my nick. just for information :ninja:
That's not quite the same as asking for help. ^^
In his mind it was. If his death would stop the war, he would consider it a huge help as he would gladly give his life in place of Whitebeard.
Also, this arc is not going to be Enies Lobby Redux. Robin refused to be rescued because she thought she was protecting them; Ace refusing to be rescued would be protecting absolutely no one. In fact, it would make things even worse as the execution date drew nearer, the Whitebeard pirates would grow more desperate to get to him and would be likelier to make more mistakes in their need to get to him before he was killed.
Ace needs to be rescued and I sincerely doubt he would refuse to leave Impel Down if given the opportunity.
Thank you all for clearing up FFA's obvious mistake. Though if he truly sees Ace as being the Final Boss as akin to Kuro, Croc or Wapol then he's fucking retarded.
Maybe I worded that wrong.
I'm not saying Ace is the final obstacle to overcome. But it wouldn't surprise me in the least that if, at the end of the arc, Luffy and Ace square off at least briefly.
Ace needs to be rescued and I sincerely doubt he would refuse to leave Impel Down if given the opportunity.
Which leads me to to the conclusion that Ace didn't think Garp would safe him even if he asked.
Question to everyone: Do you think Garp would rescue Ace? Or is being a marine more important to him than his family?
:B
I feel like this level stuff is taking forever. I guess I'm just restless and I want to see all the Strawhats together again. It seems to me that by the time Luffy gets to Ace, some crazy stuff is gonna happen, Whitebeard is gonna arrive, raise some hell, while there's some chaos going down Crocodile tries to get into a duel with Whitebeard, Jimbei helps Ace and Luffy escape…something along those lines. Even so, I want this arc to be over with... ._. I want to see Zoro again.
@Fire Fist:

I think it will be a small quarrel. Ace has shown that he wants to die to end the war (which is retarded),but the same result can be accomplished with his escape. Ace will most likely jump into Luffy's arms after a small bit of macho on Ace's part. The final Boss will most like be the Warden or Crocodile.
As much as I enjoyed manticores shouting 'FUNDOSHI' and a giant Sphinx shouting random crap (and I'm not being sarcastic, I did enjoy it) the highlight for me, had to be Croc revealing that there are a fuckload of dangerous mofos down there that want WB's head on a platter and the prospect of them running free adds a brand new wrinkle to the story I hadn't even imagined. That's gonna be fun.
Question to everyone: Do you think Garp would rescue Ace? Or is being a marine more important to him than his family?
No, right now I don't think that he would. Ace chose his way of life and it seems like Garp is going to keep within upholding his job. However, it now adds a bit more trouble for Luffy because now that we know that Garp isn't talking to Ace anymore, he's most likely going back up to the top meaning that Luffy could run into him before reaching Ace and I doubt that Garp is going to let him pass.
@Mrs.RoronoaZoro:

While I too am excited to see what else will happen, I think that it's going pretty fast. It probably only felt this long because we had double issues for a while. Really, we've been going through one level per chapter so we are quickly getting to the meat of this arc.
@Greg:

I agree.
I think the prospect of Luffy running into Garp is a very interesting one, but remember, the snake princess is heading down to see Ace as well.
