@Zik:
I grow tired of these moments, they're rather corny imo or at best cliche'.
I'm tired of the fandom making the SHs out to be some new age Roger or WB pirate crew. In the end they'll be better than both and as far as things go those type of comparisons usually start and end with Luffy.
The whole "I'm going to be Pirate King!" was understandable earlier in the manga but I'd prefer Luffy to tell WB either during the war or after when things die down "I'm gonna send your ass flying!" like he basically said to Ace back in Alabasta. Announcing the statement of attaining the title of PK shouldn't even be the main focus. It should be I'm gonna whoop ya ass and prove it lol. Even if he doesn't win or doesn't actually get to fight him.
Oh and if he does have to say that line it shouldn't be in his usual stupid, happy, thoughtless manner. He should have a dead serious look on his face and save the exclamation mark. Make the mood something similar to what happened in Mocktown when he said he was goin to the sky, it might even add some badassness to Luffy's character.
Again, I don't care in what way or matter he says it. Just as long as he says it somehow. It's not quite dead yet, and Pirate King is still his life's goal. I also recall Luffy saying "I'm going to find One Piece!" in chapter 505, which is basically the same thing. Either is good, since I'm mostly just looking forward to the reaction of WB.
On that note, why would Luffy say to WB "I'm gonna send your ass flying?" Being Ace's captain, I'd think Luffy'd have no reason to be his enemy, at the moment, at least until he gets his crew back. It seems highly inappropriate to beat up the man whom your returning the kidnapped pirate to (barring that whole "Ace for nakama" theory). Plus, beating Whitebeard doesn't make you pirate king. So, basically in this last paragraph I am confused.
