Sorry for bumping this thread, but there's still no info for movie 10? Shouldn't we've gotten more info by now?
ONE PIECE: MOVIE 10 ~ Strong World
-
-
Yeah, we should…i mean, they released the teaser NINE months ago, and after that...absolutely nothing.
-
The movie comes out around March 2009, right?
-

It should, but we haven't gotten any new information in a long time now. They should release a full trailer soon.
-
Maybe movie production got canceled or something?
-
@Yusuke:
Maybe movie production got canceled or something?
Of course not, that would have been announced and we would know. Besides, One Piece movies probably make too much money for Toei for that to happen. Just relax people, we should get more information in about 2 weeks at Jump Festa.
-
It seems the LESS we hear about a movie, the better it is. And as Imitorar stated, JUMP Festa is next weekend. I'll eat my underwear if they don't have some information on it.

If no information is given, and you happen to have a camera, record it. Wait, why can't you just eat your cap?

Straight from Greg at Jump Festa:
ONE PIECE MOVIE 10 WILL BE FULLY WRITTEN BY ODA AND WILL BE RELEASED IN JAPAN ON DECEMBER 21, 2009.
Due to Oda writing it, they must really be going overtime on this movie considering it's taking half a year longer. There's more info, including a sketch of Shiki by Greg, but I'll let others post those. Basically, there's a new character called Dr. Indigo, there's an "important" group of animals that Nami might join (this really seems odd to me) and Shiki's base is named "STRONGWORLD".
-
WHAT?????????????
you mean we have to wait to next year for the 10 movie ????
…................
bummer!!!
-
Yep, Greg said it was "Exactly one year from today." So that'd make it December 21, 2009 in Japan and December 20, 2009 in the US. I thought it was the 22nd in Japan, but seeing how it's 3am on the 22nd there now, this was announced on the 21st. edits post

Wow, it's not like you got the manga and the anime to keep you preoccupied. If Oda's writing it, then I'm all for it.
-
So wait…he's writing the entire script? Dialogue and all??
Oh. Damn...
-
Didn't we know Oda was writing it since like…April?
-
Maybe it'll tie into the storyline somehow if Oda is writing it himself?
-
This movie should be good if Oda has a hand in it. I wonder what Nami is planning?
-
Didn't we know Oda was writing it since like…April?
Yes, but we assumed he simply pitched the story and characters and stuff. According to Jump FESTA however, he wrote the entire script/story. So, basically it's the same as an arc in the manga, but he's making it exclusively to an animated movie. Watch mind tricks play, and because Oda wrote it people will see this movie as the best ever, where as if he didn't they wouldn't have thought so greatly of it. XD
Then again, it has 100% potential to be the best movie ever.
-
AWESOME. Looking forward to it even more now.
-
I just hope it's not canon.
-
I just hope it's not canon.
In the words of Cartman
WHY THE FUCK NOT!?
Do u realize how epic that'd be if Oda was able to make a movie fit into the storyline perfectly? And if it is cannon then it'd obviosuly have to take place after this war arc in the manga, which will probably take this entire year by itself, so that'd mean they'red be a SHIT load of stuff we wouldnt understand that we could look forward to seeing explained in the manga. And that'd mean that whatever jap station produces OP would HAVE to broadcast the movie when the show reaches that part and we'd get a 1 long(or 2 hour, idk exatcly how long it is) op presentation! And how many other manga writers could say they pulled off something this epic? None! Not even the great akira.
Now granted this is not gonna be the case, but if it is it'd be awesome.
-
This is probably canon stuff now
maybe not the story but the locations and stuff at least.
-
HOT DAMN!
If they're actually spending a whole extra 9 months that means the Animation quality will hopefully be above and beyond the others. Of course with Oda doing the whole thing, I don't know about canon, but I'm sure it certainly won't have that "Filler" feel of the other movies.
-
Wow, I've never really been that interested in the One Piece movies (tacky add-on movies to cash-in on an anime's popularity are a dime a dozen), but I am stoked about this. Too bad we have to wait a whole year.

Should check out number 6. Just awesome.
As for the comment about the animation being superb due to a 9 month longer wait, I would say it depends more on Oda getting done what he needs to.
While I am excited, I am trying to keep in mind that to my knowledge, this is the first time Oda is doing something like this. We'll find out in a year.
-
Yeah, I think a bit of the time might have to do with Oda. But hopefully Toei is going the extra mile as well. Number 6 is awesome, so in number 4. I want to see those two movies again. I hope FUNi releases them soon.

Very true, but the extra time is certainly not going to hurt. I'm sure Toei are going to want "Oda's Movie" to look as good as it can. At the very least it's not going to looked rushed like Movie 8.
-
Movie 8 in terms of animation and art didn't seem that rushed to me.

The colors were bright and vibrant. At best, I thought, it looked on par with a recent TV episode. Compared to the other movies' production values it really falls short (not to mention the reused music, albeit great music but still reused) And as far as poor animation, two words "Uso-Cho Hammer". Seriously that whole scene looked like it was 5 frames of animation. And just for reference TV Anime is generally around 15 fps, American Animation = 24 fps, Theatrical productions of any origin generally fall between 24 and 30. It would've been okay for a TV Special but I found some parts like the Mr 4/Ms MC fight just shameful looking.
Just my opinion though, I know people are really quick to bash Movie 8 when some people like it. More power to ya!

Erm ^_^; when I said a year from now I didn't mean to the day. Yamaguchi gave that as an estimate. Also, Strong World MAY be Shiki's base. I'm really not sure.

Aww man guys. It's not even april. That was the worst let down EVER.

Yeah, I know. I don't mean to mis-quote you. I just figured this is the info we got, so might as well accept it as fact for now.

So outside of our well-informed community here, does the rest of the English-speaking world still think this film is coming out in the Spring?
-
Well there was a website I came across that thinks they aren't even going to release a movie next year since nothing was announced for Spring but that was back in November.

Awesome. I like it when it pays to be a member of the best-informed and most mature (comparatively) English OP BBS on the web.

here some news on the movie
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-12-31/2009-one-piece-movie-to-mark-anime-10th-anniversary
hope it comes out in march…
-
That news report just said it WASN'T coming out in March. So, is this December 2009 release we got hinted at only cause they don't want to open with the DB LA movie, and not because they are putting more time into it?
If so, then "Damn".
-
Actually they were waiting for the 10th Anniversary…10th Movie on the 10th Anniversary, Makes a lot of sense now. Hopefully they use the extra time to make the movie worth remembering.
I predict the movie will be released on October.

You don't need to delay a movie NINE MONTHS only to avoid competition.
-
This is pretty damn good news. If they're postponing it till next December and if Oda is pretty much writing the entire script, than this movie is gonna be amazing!
-
Hm.. maybe they're trying to wait to integrate whatever going to happen in the manga.. this movie is cannon right? they might be waiting so it can fit in right..

We don't know that it's canon; it was never stated. People just suspect it might be because Oda is writing the story.

And because of Greg's April Fool's joke. Apparently that one still hasn't been purged yet.

The 10th anniversary happened last year for the manga and just happened for the anime. They'd have no reason to delay it even further for that.
@Imitorar:And because of Greg's April Fool's joke. Apparently that one still hasn't been purged yet.
Haha, he could have made it more apparent. It felt more like a "Oh, I lied to you" then a "Haha, fooled you!" moment, even if that happened to not be his intention.
-

Actually, the anime started in 1999. This is its tenth year, but the actual 10th anniversary of the airing of "I'm Luffy! The Man Who Will Become The King of Pirates!" won't be until October 20th, 2009, as you can see.
Haha, he could have made it more apparent. It felt more like a "Oh, I lied to you" then a "Haha, fooled you!" moment, even if that happened to not be his intention.
I think Greg said that he doesn't like it when people go "Haha, I fooled you!" because he finds it jerk-ish, or something like that, so he didn't. He just sort of indicated that he'd been messing with us. It was a bit unclear for a while, but either way, it's done with now, and we'll just have to put up with it for another year or so until people actually see the movie and realize that it won't be canon.
-
Ah, my mistake. I just figured it already happened considering they celebrated it at Jump Festa.
-
Well, Cross Epoch also came out in September 2006 or so, even though the manga's 10th anniversary wasn't until August 2007, about a year later. I guess they take the beginning of the 10th year as a chance to celebrate too. Anything for marketing, I suppose.
-
Kind of neat to be responsible for an anime urban legend. It's the April Fool's that keeps on giving.
Plus everyone who doesn't visit this excellent forum deserves to be duped.

What was the April Fools Joke?
