Why do some of you still thinks this is Luffy's "Inconsistancy"….. or whatever it is called!!!
Ok, why don't you put yourself in Luffy's shoe and put your brother/sister/father/mother/or whoever you regard as an important person in your family up for EXECUTION in 3 days (lets not put too long a days).
Now, tell me..... no matter HOW FUCKING STRONG the person is, there is NO WAY you can get out of a MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISON with Admirals that can beat you so easily (in Luffy's point of view).... are you going to say "I can't save him/her/it, because he will get angry with me" "I will break his pride"...blah,blah,blah..........
But Ace is Whitebeard's subordinate. True, but Luffy doesn't really know him or how strong he is.......
So, before that on Thriller Bark, they only know Ace's life is in danger, but to what extend? Luffy assumes Ace is going to weather through it, because Ace is stronger than him. However, you need to remember, Luffy knows how strong the Marines are, especially the Admirals..etc..... When he found out from Nyon that Ace got caught by the World Government, he knows Ace is not only in trouble, he is actually in DEEP SHIT.
So, are you going to EXPECT Luffy to say "Oh, he can break himself out."

My point is this Luffy's words and reasoning as to why he wouldn't go and save Ace where to me too strong for him to go back on them later. His reasoning for going to save Ace seems to me to either completely invalidate his words or use a loophole in them to make sense. I expected Luffy to rush to Ace's aid and him not doing this portrayed him as not being your standard shounen lead and him not filling the criteria for good guy as smoothly as we might like. I liked this about him and now it's invalidated all the assumptions I made about Luffy's character from that are meaningless and Luffy has become more ordinary because of it. I'm looking forward to the epic but Luffy has lost some depth because of his decision.
What you got against The WB Pirates? This whole event alone is enough proof of how awesome they are. A single Pirate crew taking on the might of the WG. The WG Fears WB.
I've got nothing agaionst WB it's the fans I dislike.

But, that line about New World pirates being on the move is just so awesome. It makes it seem like the World Government and the Marines have completely lost any control and influence they had on that side of the grand line. That would be awesome if it were just a massive anti-world government movement happening in the New World.

Pretty obivous that the Maines will missed any Supernovas that end up amongst the 500 captured pirates thanks to WB's actions so Luffy's got SOME help in that form. They'll want to esape just the same. Along with Crocodile and BWs thats a nice set up selection. Oda's put himself in a position where he is spoilt for choice.

I haven't read the translation yet, but I'm wondering why people think that Sanji is on a gay island. I thought it was an island full of ugly, hairy women. Wouldn't Sanji want to be on an island where women would adore him? Wouldn't that be his dream vacation? He just happened to land on the island where the virgins for suicide bombers await…
But now I'll read the translation and see if I'm right.

I still think the setup is far too convenient with everyone being sent to the perfect place for them to get a powerup. If Usopp ends up at Elbaf I'll throw my arms up in resignation. If they must, I'd prefer if they get inspirations and not be actually taught anything.
Jimbei's still looking like the lovechild of Kuma and a whale, and Hancock is a doujin machine. Now that Oda's revealed a bunch of different plot lines, I hope he can handle them all.

What seemed like an elaborately laid trap a few chapters ago, seems to be dissolving into a huge steaming mess. The way Sengoku is running around all frantic indicates poor planning. Pfft.

well it can happen that things don't go as smoothy as planned you know, the Shichibukai are just a bunch of freeloaders actually and indeed the fact they still needed to recruit them after they announced the execution is very strange if they know they might not respond to the call and it seems that Sengoke indeed lost control, I don't understand how he could think he hadcontrol. BTW, the were saying something about the SA tenryubuto and Sengoku said not to bother him but the admirals with that, shouldn't they be on their posts as well in the WB vs WG fight?

So, though it seems this won't be a full-fledged arc or anything, I'm still psyched to see one finally - here's just to hoping a real arc with the whole crew visits one.

I don't think it's that simple. Probably Sengoku knew that the longer they decided to act, the greater was the chance of WB just assaulting Impel Down to rescue Ace. Also, remember that, when Momonga came to get Hancock in Amazon Lily, Momonga said that Hancock had replied the government earlier saying that she would go, yet she was lying and had no interest in keeping her word.
Also, Sengoku had his forces and 5 Shichibukai ready. You can bet that he was not counting on cases like Hancock and Jimbei disobeying orders.

my god the next 10 chapters of one piece are promising to be epic. looking at the translation sengoku makes it sound like jimbei was one of the guys the world government was really depending on. maybe he really is the strongest shichibukai. if whitebeard is the strongest man in the world then jimbei is probably the strongest fishman in the world. if jimbei is heading to impel down then he's probably there to break out a bunch of his fellow fishmen and will relinquish his shichibukai title and go live at fishman island and just wait to see what happens next.
does he think the marines are gonna get destroyed by whitebeard and his crew? he may be thinking that the world government is going to take a big hit and there is no reason to keep cooperating with them since they won't have any real power anymore. btw nyon words make it sound like hancock will have to stay with luffy if she wants to live. looks like she wasn't messing around when she said she was love sick. this impel down trip maybe there to help luffy and boa get closer.

- There might be more of a chance for Hancock (Luffy) to be stationed at Impel Down "just incase" since they will likely be the closest to that location if/when it happens.
- Since the Marines are watching everything, if Whitebeard attacked anywhere else early, which is also a concern of theirs, then they will divert all their attention to that new location. Amidst the panic we might have a window of opportunity for Luffy and Hancock.

Morning sunshine. Did you wake up still unable to believe the madness that happened last night? Also with Jinbei and Ace at Impel Down it could just be packed with security. There's also a chance that WB does attack there and the Marines just go killjoy with anybody they see.

So it looks like Luffy will have 500 semi powerful allies at Impel down…... I'm sure most of the supernovas (excluding Kid and Law) will be there. And the best part is.... they won't be very well guarded, since Sengoku didn't do shit about where to put them.
Not to mention White Beard's crew, and VERY POSSIBLY some other New World pirates.
EDIT: OH I just thought of something..... If Capone (the human Barracks/Fortress) is in Impel Down, and they, meaning the 500 pirates captured from Sabondy, cooperate with Luffy, then I wonder if ALL 500 could fit in his body. Make for a good way to transport 500 people no? I doubt this is going to happen, but it's a thought.

Hell yeah that will be an epic rescue arc. Jimbei and Ace rescued. The one who lost his pride and the other who will be saved by a human epic just epic.
Great idea! Luffy saying Jinbei would be a cool way to redeem humanity for the Fishmen. It would also clear Luffy of any bad mojo for having defeated Arlong, so that the SH can pass safely through Fishman Island. I mean, word has to have travelled to Fishman Island already about Arlong's defeat, right?
The 500 pirates Kizaru captured out of rage… Impel down says they won't be able to do the paperwork for it right now! ... (The marine seems to insinuate that Kizaru, pissed off probably at not being able to apprehend the Strawhats, took his anger out on the pirates at Sabaody)
This is great – huge numbers of pirates milling around Impel Down when all the Marine forces will be preoccupied with Whitebeard. And if Luffy saves them (even if he was indirectly responsible for getting them there in the first place) they'll feel indebted to him. Also, if he commands them and his command is sound, then they'll have an easier time imagning/accepting him as Pirate King. And yes, I agree with ultimateclima that it would be great to see some, but not all Supernovae among them, and to see the complicated loyalties that result from their participation/rescue.
hell i haven't even mentioned dragon. i'm sure he will do something while this is all going on.
He would be very foolish not to use the upcoming pandemonium to his advantage. That's an interesting thought about Alabasta, but I doubt they'd let a rebellion happen there again.

Whoa! Gramps has gone to see Ace. So if he's still there when all Hell breaks loose, it will be interesting to see whose side he takes. He's got good reasons to be both for and against Ace at this time. And what we know of him already seems to indicate that he's equally affectionate and aggressive when to comes to dealing with his grandsons.
So… where do we suppose Kuma sent the other five?

I agree with Magnetic about how Robin needs to learn the history with the SH, not on her own. But maybe landing on an island where old murals exist -- like those Ener found on the moon -- would be a good way to gain more knowledge about the Void, without actually learning any of the exact history? As for Zoro, I'm also putting my money on him somehow being found by or finding (accidentally of course) Smoker and Tashigi. Since Tashigi's his biggest weakness at the moment, it makes sense. And yes, Wano seems like a likely spot for a sword freak to encounter a swordsman ...It would be much more fun if all the SHs are still in the old world meet at ID or wherever and then head to Fishman island. So we the reader will discover as well as the SHs the new world fishman island and all this stuff.
I agree, that the reader should discover these things with the SH, but isn't it possible for us to discover these things with everybody on board except Zoro, and then discover Zoro when the crew discovers him, in the New World?

Even though I am slightly disappointed with the story development and how we are going the route of war with Hancock in love with Luffy and all…...this chapter was so freakin awesome I cannot handle it. SO many highlights this chapter. IMO, of course. This is what I love so much about One Piece. Anyways.....

As someone pointed out in the spoiler thread, he is getting lots of exercise for his legs by running around. His letter to Robin and Nami has to be one of the best parts about the chapter. LOL. Poor, poor Sanji.

I already posted in the Dumb Predictions thread how the whole Hancock situation can be resolved perfectly.
Luffy will die in this arc while the crew is separated. Hancock will take his place as captain once the crew re-unites. I can see Luffy dying and him weakly handing Rayleigh's vivre card to a sobbing Hancock telling her to send a last message to his crew.
