      So the Troupe decided to become the worst villain's the world has ever known in order to protect Meteor City. This actually aligns with that event mentioned in York New in which members of Meteor City bombed a bunch of places in revenge for the unfair death of one of their own.

      They want to be so scary that no one ever dare think of incurring their wrath, lest they face pure desruction.

      This has been a brilliant run of chapters so far but I should never expect less from Togashi.

    • RE: Why was W7/TB decently paced despite also being about one chapter an episode?

      @parappa:

      There where a couple of episodes that used a chapter and a half, and even some that used 2. These days they NEVER go over 1 chapter. Also like people said above, all the filler of the opening, recap and ending make the actual content better paced. I wish they would bring all that stuff back. Why wouldnt you want that back? you can just skip that shit

      That makes sense. Also I agree with your second half that if they brought it back it would be better because it's skippable. Especially because Oda puts enough in per chapter that a 14/15 minute episode would be well paced. I don't know how long a current OP episode is but DBS episodes were about 17 and a half minutes by the ToP if you included the recap, the opening, and the ending.

      Hopefully OP can cut down a little too.

      @Captain:

      I think I may know why. Early Water 7 had a good buffer between it and the manga still. But almost every single Enies Lobby episode consist of HALF a recap and then ten to five minutes of decently paced stuff. That's why it feels like its more bearable.

      That makes a lot of sense. They had an opening, an ending, and a 3 minute recap. Helped the actual adaption stuff be better paced.

      Many on here would ague those twp arcs in particular were poorly paced

      Where? The train sequence from Water 7 in particular was pretty great to me. The pacing wasn't amazing but every sequence got all the attention it deserved. Zoro and Luffy breaking a hole through the water was way more epic in the anime because of that verses the manga.

    • Why was W7/TB decently paced despite also being about one chapter an episode?

      Maybe it's just me but I watched those arcs in anime form finally earlier this year and neither felt poorly paced despite not adapting more than one chapter an episode most of the time. This is compared to now where the episodes drag like crazy and this is BEFORE Oda started packing every chapter with enough material for two chapters.

      What happened?

      He was fated to meet Gon in the future,he didn't stayed with the other ants and his human name is Jail, which goes quite close to Gyro in pronunciation.

      This theory doesn't work considering Welfrin knew Gyro back when he was a kid and confirmed his backstory because he said the two of them would drink themselves silly while trying to see who had the worst luck in terms of childhood.

      Agreed man. I wish there was at least 1v1 mode. No chance though - I think we're in the super majority for preferring that. When I was younger, I loved team stuff, but now it just feels too hectic to me.

      It's not too bad considering everyone only gets one health bar and it doesn't have multiple layers. I'd love for a 1v1 mode too but something tells me when the game comes out we'll find out how imbalanced it truly is and why we don't have one. They already said a lot of characters are better as support I mean.

      This arc picked up a lot when the tournament started and it was nice to see those characters who haven't done anything since early Z get some wins. Really have enjoyed what we got despite some glaring flaws and I'm really excited for the finale.

      Do you think he came up with the succession war plot during the hiatus before the DC arc started or was this something he had planned for a while?

      I can tell he started writing the CA arc when he really got into Parasyte because it follows a lot of the same thematic elements, I wonder what was the hiatus inspiration for this arc.

      I honestly don't think Hunter x Hunter would be half as good as it is without all the hiatuses. No other SJ writer in the history of the magazine has had this much time to fully think out their ideas to the level he has.

      He doesn't need as many as he takes I don't think but I'll always consider them more of a blessing than anything when we get York New's, Chimera Ant arcs, and now the dark continent.

      I can see Togashi still keeping all these qualities on Meruem without the Invincible Bad Guy archetype. Usually when you utilize this type of character you get something like Madara, Bach or Raoh.

      The arc wouldn't have been as impactful if the heroes had any way of beating the king or the royal guard to be honest. The amount of effort they had to give to even come close was so interesting to watch.

      The king completely outclassed Netero regardless of strategy…Even Netero's strongest technique had no effect on him. I don't think this was a detail they were going for. Man, the KA arc is so much better in the manga than in the 2011 anime version! Everything is perfect. The pacing doesn't affect the intensity, as it was the case in the anime (this being said, it is really hard to adapt the narrator's speech from manga(literature) to anime). I believe this arc in particular shows off Togashi's brilliant narrative skills and style. The best part of it is when the protagonists attack the castle through Nov's portals. There, every single characters' thoughts are described - they're exposed to us readers. The char. development was great, too. Komugi is the true hero of the KA arc, the key to everything. I find it cool that a fragile, blind, vulnerable girl was the only one able to defeat the all-mighty King, Meruem.

      I thought 2011 was a perfect adaptation but man the manga is so well paced that I finished all the way to the Chimera Ant arc in 2 days. I'm taking a break until tomorrow but it goes at a lightning pace even the boring parts like Greed Island.The most exciting part of the CA arc is that by the end I didn't know if I wanted to root for the heroes or for the ants because they both had justifiable reasons for their actions and I wanted to see both of them fulfill their goals. I know in the end it had to be the humans that live but everytime I see how much Meruem loved Komungi, how much Pitou had grown and learned to feel, and how much Youpi learned to respect other warriors I wish they could have lived and become forces for good. I even liked Pufu because of his dedication to the king even though he was creepy.That truly was one of the greatest shonen arcs ever written.

      that's not the point, i don't care wither he draws it or not. he said he has back pains that make him barely able to walk, but now he can he suddenly participate in race running?

      I think with all the surgery he has been getting it has made things easier for him and he decided to accomplish something he always wanted to, run a race, as a 50 year old man.

      To be fair the back problems thing isn't even new. He would talk about having back problems back when Yu Yu Hakusho was running and it would cause him to regularly take breaks there too to the point where he just couldn't take it or the weekly release format anymore and the final volume doesn't actually show the final battle and has a bunch of random last chapters for the epilogue that the anime summarizes, fixes, and glosses over.

      I think one of the agreements he made to make HxH for Shonen Jump as per another YYH era interview is to be able to write it on it's own terms and take as many breaks as he wants. They agreed because of the sales. It doesn't make it okay but they're equally to blame for him not having to do more when he's better.

      He had assistants doing the majority of the work for the last 20 chapters. Backgrounds, background characters, and probably a chunk of the inking even on the main characters. The first four pages of the last chapter were entirely assistant work, for instance.

      2 years ago editors hinted at "shocking moment" incomming - possibly meaning that Hisoka vs Chr fight. So I guess he had bunch of arena chapters almost ready 2 years ago. So he polished them and drawn few more. Newest chapters are probably less detailed because those were recently drawn and Togashi didnt put "second effort" into them, thats my guess.

      All in all bunch of chapters we got was pretty good and we should not waste our energy on complaining, it changes nothing really so why to bother. We should be thankful for anything we get on HxH even as rare as we get anything.

      I can't believe any of you really thought Hisoka was going to actually die.

      Be glad he wasn't brought back by something like Alluka being forced to by Illumi or some other reason that screamed bullcrap. He was brought back in a way that was true to his powers and capabilities seen before and it made sense. It's not like Togashi won't show consequences for the way he chose to revive himself down the line. Just wait and see it'll make much more sense in the grand scheme of the story.

      And yes I know the feeling. I still feel the Rose Bomb felt like a cop out because Togashi had made characters way too strong to ever be beaten by the rules of the series. But it worked and it was fine and didn't ruin the series for me.

      This fight when on longer than I expected but that was an exciting finale. It's proof Hisoka is still insanely powerful despite how his match with Chrollo ended.

      Kind of mad they killed off Shalnark when he was one of the best members of the group but it was bound to happen eventually. Man I can't wait to see the revenge plan Chrollo has in store for Hisoka when he finds out about this.

      I hope the remaining members of the troupe go to the DC though. It'll be fun to see them there and if they cross paths with Kurapika even better. Very great chapter.

      It's entirely possible Togashi intended Hisoka to die here and then the character said otherwise.

      That happens in writing, sometimes.

      Doesn't feel like that at all though. I didn't expect either to die yet as Gon hasn't rematched Hisoka yet and Chrollo and Kurapika need another confrontation as well. I think he planned it out like this from the beginning.

      It was really cool seeing Chrollo again and also finding out he was one of the floor leaders in Heaven's Arena. I doubt either he or Hisoka will actually die during this fight to the death as they have other story related fights we're waiting on and things to do that requires them to both survive but I think it's still going to be intense. We've never had a fight between two opponents so evenly matched before I don't think or at least with this level of power so this is really exciting.

      I was excited for the new material but most of it has been a disappointment so far even though some of the ideas they try like how most of the opponent's goku and vegeta face now can't be beaten just by their olympus level strength and require them thinking to achieve victory is nice the other plot problems still make it nearly unwatchable (I know he still technically won but man I wanted to see Picollo kick butt). It would be like not watching the English dub of the red jacket series.

      But the manga dub was more accurate and remembered the importance of silence and atmosphere that Miyazaki had in the original.

      Also the streamline dub ruined the magic of the scene when Lupin snuck into Clarrises tower and gave her the hope she needed right when she needed it by making Lupin's dialogue less majestic and too blunt. Plus there was too much added talking in general. That was my favorite scene in the entire movie and messing that up automatically made me prefer Manga.

I get upset as much as you guys do and the 2 year break was awfully annoying and I know you guys are still bitter about it but when we get a legit reason why he's on break you shouldn't get as angry about it.

      Is it really hard to find something else to take up your time during the wait? I've been rereading the original Dragon Ball Series, Nisekoi, and watching The Simpsons Marathon (Like 3 episodes a day though) to pass the time. Can't you guys find another thing to get into while you wait? Its an amazing series but not the only one that's good that exists.

      @RevolverOcelot:

      Not necessarily bad but certainly not great at least in my opinion .

      I want to see you write two best selling manga with two beloved anime adaptations before even hitting 50 to be honest and still have time to get married and have kids.

      I genuinely want to see you do better if he's such a bad writer and make a better shonen series. Can you?

      I know this is your opinion and all but something about that sentence just made me laugh so hard ….......... Hmmmm wonder why that is .............

      @Black:

      Baiting out an argument is a pretty shitty thing to do.

      Thank you Black Leg

      @goty:

      What is it, again?

      ! King Enma was responsible for the events of essentially the entire series and the demons weren't evil and mostly prayed childish pranks on humans until he brain washed them into killing humans which Koenma gets him arrested for in the last chapters.

      @Nidhoeggr:

      Add Gundam Build Fighters to the mix if you like mecha. Or Start nanatsu no Taizai. it's not as good as HxH and has A-1 animating it but it's pretty good for an action/adventure Shounen.

      Will do. Thanks.

      @melody:

      i never watched YYH.. what's wrong with the ending..?

      The anime fixes it by going through the whole thing but the manga ends the final climatic battle in the middle of the first punch and time skips to later where Yusuke just tells everyone what happened. The anime shows you the fight and you see what the aftermath of the battle was live instead of it just being told.

      Also a character that dies of old age stays alive in the anime. And the anime wraps up everything in 1 episode instead of 5 side story chapters.

      Also there's a twist that changes the context of ALL of Yusuke's adventures and you'll either love it or hate it and the anime just decided to do without it and probably for the better.

      Its sad to see it go but it was a good run and it got a lot of new people into the series including myself. Togashi is really amazing at this point because not only is he a great writer his works gave way to two of the greatest anime adaptations ever. YYH and HxH 2011.

      I guess I'll just have to find another weekly anime series to fill the void though. At least parasyte (the series taking its timeslot) looks good though.

      That was an interesting…and in some ways disturbing chapter. I have a feeling that Nen beast will be censored in US Shonen Jump lol.

      Also I think this arc will be as long as the CA arc and be split into acts like it was (Gon Kite and Killua first contact with them and Pitou, The training chapters were they faced Knuckle and Shoot, the ten days before the invasion where the they faced the ants made allies and the king slowly developed into a better person and the invasion where everything came together for an epic finale) and end up just as great as it was. I'm really excited.

      @DarthAsthma:

      Why I bring this up? Because you're so damn defensive every time someone has anything bad to say about this series no matter the merit of any statements.

      I said the movie wasn't the greatest of all time I just thought it worked well for what it was. I said I don't see how anyone could dislike it not as "everyone should love it" but as if when you see it you can see they tried did their best and go "Meh at least they tried" and not completely hate the film.

      I know the series has flaws and I haven't been afraid to bring them up before. I've only ever really spoken up about any complaint is when people call the characters sociopaths which is something I admittedly will never undestand and will always disagree with.

      The second response to you saying "Two posters get mad over any complaint over HxH" which if its what I say comes off as I apologize for seeming like I don't believe any complaints about the series are valid. I just usually see past the flaws because as its best its excellent.

      But I can understand why people have them.
