I love how so many people took the whole "They all die" response in terms of the Spiders fate when Togashi easily could have been lying about it to throw people off. It's cute.

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
I mean I know you guys get really annoyed with the hiatuses and the like (I love the manga too so I know the feeling) but don't you guys who are threatening to send bombs to his house and hoping he dies taking it a little too far?
The manga is great and whenever it returns it's a nice treat but come on, can't you find other series to enjoy when it's not being published? Death threats really aren't cool. Especially over a comic.

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
Darker than the Ant Arc? No, thanks. We had enough despair in there to fill the rest of the series. Yeah, the whole 10 chapters that are left of the series!
No, really, I think. . .there's no need? I mean, what is all this (obviously editor made) mumbo jumbo about? As far as I know, they are all going on a huge discovery adventure, right? I know we can expect extreme harshness, it's the Dark Continent after all, but, again. . .Endless Despair? Hope being Hunted? Darkness is being Aimed for??
I love Togashi but I agree. I thought this would be a return to the adventurous feel of the early volumes but I guess not. But I have faith in his writing skill so we'll see.
Also the ant arc was only dark in the beginning. The end wasn't that bad in that regard other than the 'I can't tell if anyone's the bad guy' either.
Updated List.
Where's mine ;-; (30 BTW)

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
The tagline for the new arc is "What is being aimed for is darkness. What is being hunted is hope. What blocks the way is endless despair."
I think HxH is about to get a lot darker. Also that line describes Togashi's hiatus' well to be honest.
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
Look at the bright side. The fact that he already has art done, no matter the quality, means there's a high chance he's been working on chapters throughout the entire hiatus. Maybe we will get 30 chapters or more after all.
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
I knew it'd be back when the anime finally caught up!
I'm going to be bold and call 30 chapters for the newest run. I bet Togashi has been working and planning the story since the last break. Oh man I'm excited

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
I haven't read Jojo, so I won't comment on how the characters in that series handle death.
However, I just want to say that I don't necessarily have a problem with characters being indifferent towards death. It all depends on the kind of character that's trying to be portrayed.
Case in point: Just because big beefy muscle men have a stoic temperament about death doesn't necessarily mean it makes sense that a 12-year-old kid would have the same temperament.
But this point has been debated to death, so…
Hey I can see where you're coming from in a way. When I rewatched YYH after seeing Hunter x Hunter I found it so weird how big a deal they made over every human death in the series even though humans died left and right in HxH and people would only mourn who they cared about (well except when Gon would go out of his way to save people).
It doesn't bother me or make me like the characters less I just found it to be interesting that in one franchise that the other is so heavily inspired from one action borrowed from it can cause a lot more ruckus than it ever did there. It was just an observation,

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
@Purple:
You could see it that way, and there are a lot of similarities to stands, but there are some main differences between the two, between a ghost generally manifesting next to you, people can't really modify the stand they're born with (although of course they're mad smart about how they use them). There isn't a limitation they can put on themselves to increase the power but they tend to work with what they've got for some strange strategies.
I don't really see how Togashi got the idea from Gon's temperament in part 3 in this arc, though, but yeah, especially in the togashi manhwa the person brought up the similarities of "ability users" in JoJo and HxH.
Well of course there's going to be differences lol. He has to change things to improve them and make it his own. I just found it interesting.
I was just saying that in Jojo when someone they aren't close to dies (they've even killed several people themselves) they don't spend hours mourning over it and just get over it but when they do it in Hunter x Hunter suddenly the characters are crazy heartless people. I just thought maybe Togashi was inspired for how Gon and his friends treat death from Jojo.
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
Anyone here watch Jojo? I just realized Nen (with the checks and balances for every strengthen and weakness) is a really complex version of how Stands work.
Also its probably where Togashi got the idea for Gon's temperament for the most part. Gon has gone out of his way to save people before but when people they don't know die in Jojo part 3 they show no feeling at all towards it. Even when its right in front of them which happens often.
Just thought it was cool.

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
So one of the animation directors for HxH put on Twitter that the Chimera Ant arc is ending at episode 135.
Guess the anime will be over by September then or even sooner considering the whole "most of the arc is talking" problem of the Chairman election arc
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
I don't know if I asked this before but anyone else notice that something happens to one of Gon's arms every arc? Either they get broken or he loses one until a really special nen ability helps him get it back.
Do you think maybe Togashi does this on purpose?
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
So the new episode mentioned Gyro by name in context of Welfin's back story.
Just wanted the naysayers who thought they wouldn't to know that.
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
Happy Togashi Day! In spirit of the holiday I'm too lazy to change my avatar but let's celebrate by talking about the new episode instead!
So they adapted some of my favorite chapters, the entire conclusion of the Youpi subplot in this episode and it was just as great as it was in the manga. It was a bit more wordy which I didn't like much but the whole theme of Youpi finding himself and growing and gaining respect for strong warriors was kept and the scene where he states this and where he let Knuckle, Morel, and Merrelon live was just as beautiful as it was in the manga. Just 10/10 all the way.
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
@Thousand:
You mean Dragon Quest? lol
Actually Hunter x Hunter was heavily inspired by early Dragon Ball (at least early on) and the later parts still show a lot of inspiration from both Ball and Z so…
So anyone else think the last arc might be rushed a bit? There's little fighting in it and most of the chapters involve a lot of talking with little fighting they might be able to finish the arc in 6 episodes if they do it properly or 10 if they go two chapters per episode (at the expense of awful pacing) I guess we'll have to wait and see though.
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
I reread the Election arc and Leorio's punch move was cool and all but…am I the only one who thinks a healing ability or something like Knuckle's IRS ability would have fit Leorio better?
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
You aren't mistaken, but it still does not explain why he is as motivated as he is about it.
Keep in mind shit like the near suicidal way in which he acted in his fight against Hanzo because he thought failure wasn't an option for him.
Sometimes I get the feeling you guys think way too much into this when Togashi was just trying to write an Adventure type series with a Son Goku like main character but I always saw Gon saying that if he ran from his fight with Hanzo that he'd never find his dad as him saying that he knows a Hunter can't just run when things get too hard so he was refusing to run in that situation as well. I mean it could be something deeper but whatever.
Gon's goals were simple yes "I want to see what's so great about being a Hunter that someone would choose it over there own son!" and "I want to find my father!" but if you'd allow me to overanalyze with you Gon's main goal in his adventures isn't just to find his dad but go on an amazing journey and make new friends and do amazing things. That's what being a Hunter is made of. The more he found out about his dad and the amazing things he's done (saving Kite, redeeming that hunter exam guy with the quality of his work, discovering ruins and using his own money to restore them so they could be seen by future generations) the more it heightened his wishes to meet this man and find out himself why these things could beat out a life with your son.
It may be simple but I've always been a fan of simple premises because you can come out with the most interesting plots with them without having a lot to worry about and it's what Hunter x Hunter strives at, the story lines are simple yet they have a lot of meat to them and are really complex in there own ways and enjoyable.
That's just my two cents on it.

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
Wasn't this whole argument played with in the series before?
Gon and Killua brought up the possibility that one of them could be kidnapped as part of a bargaining piece in from of Knuckle and Shoot and they mentally responded "They've been through things like that to make them think like this!?" Gon still cares about life (you guys all ignored me bringing up when he and Killua changed the plans for the Invasion to stop the selection because they couldn't just sit around while lives were lost) but he just can't sit here getting depressed every time someone dies. Do you guys do that? It'd be very hard to get through life if we got depressed every time we heard about someone dying. It's sad yes but we can't let it affect us too much or stop us from doing what we have to do.

RE: If Mangakas wrote another Mangaka's series
C'mo
Got it! If Rumiko Takahashi wrote One Piece, the Luffy harem would be an actuality. Every island, some girl would fall for Luffy, naturally Nami, Robin, and Hancock would be the front runners. Luffy would be unable to pick (or too dumb to notice)If One Piece was written by her it'll have ended after the same time it originally did (whenever that happens) but the ending wouldn't even be a real one because none of the main plots got any closure and it'd only count as an ending because it's the last chapter. Ala Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2, and Inuyasha's endings.
But it'd be a fun ride even though it'd be unsatisfying.
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
Well, here's how I read Gon now, and you can tell me if you think I'm on the money or not.Aside from having a motivation that I feel is fundamentally flawed (did I ever mention I grew up without ever knowing my father and to this day have never met him? Yeah, me and Gon actually have something in common), Gon scares me. There are times he honestly feels like a serial killer in the making. Sure, he's got some noble traits; his loyalty to his friends, his determination, and the occasional sense of morality. But his apparent apathy towards brutality and violence and the loss of human life. And him apparently having little to no sense of right and wrong as you cited below. He's a character with a great capacity for good, but an even greater capacity for evil. With his open and curious mind, with his father and his friends as his only constant, he's practically a rudderless ship amidst a sea of violent waves, fate perhaps being the only thing that may decide whether he goes down the path of righteousness or destruction. And this, my friends, is our 12-year-old hero.*
Are we talking about the same character that abandoned the original plans for the Invasion on the Chimera Ant Palace to stop the selection because he felt that he couldn't just sit around doing nothing while lives were lost? And then when Killua decided to go instead because he could make more ruckus with less noise Gon still showed his love for life time and time again. When he faced against the Snake Ant his first thought after tying him up was that it could go 10 days without food or water which should be enough time for someone to find it and untie it. And when he faced Bat and Owl he went out of his way to just hurt them and not kill. "I sent you in the direction of NGL with the punch, please stay there!". Sure he killed the Armadillo thing but that was on accident even though he wasn't too beat up about it because it was a him or me situation and when he killed Pitou (which I didn't like to be honest) but he was mad and wanted to avenge Kite. If the manga ever continues he'll probably feel at least a little bad for what he did to Pitou though because Kite is fine.
Are we talking about the same Gon that got mad at the Phantom Troupe because they could feel sad for the lost of their own but not those they make suffer? The same Gon that saved the Foxbear Cub Kite wanted to kill because he could raise it to love humanity? (and he did). We must be reading two different series because I see a lot of examples of Gon caring about others lives. Sure they said he invites anything he finds interesting into his mind but have we seen him stealing or cheating people for fun? Even in Green Island when the others he came with made a plan to steal others cards to win he said he didn't want to because he didn't want to believe Ging would make a game where you have to steal from others to win (which implies he finds stealing to be wrong and in the end he was proven right about the game) and he and Killua left with Biscuit to win the fair way.You can say he has the potential to grow up to be a killer if you want but there's a lot of proof to the contrary you won't get if you just want to be negative and not look at the several redeeming qualities and things he's done that show no implication of him growing up to be a serial killer.
Also you said in another post that he isn't responding like a normal 12 year old would in the situation he's put in. Of course not this isn't Evangelion and trying to be realistic about the situations Gon is in it's just trying to tell good stories and be enjoyable. Sure the way powers work and how plots go are a little more realistic or different than how most Shonen would but it's not going to have Gon cradeled up in a ball thinking about what he's gone through. He gets over it and moves on (which is a lesson for life to be honest) that's how Goku dealt with finding out his whole race was dead and he accidentally killed his grandpa, how Naruto got over how he was treated by the villagers (because realistically he wouldn't have became as buddy with them after all they did if ever), how Alibaba in Magi got over being in a cage a lot of his early life (in the anime he has a bit of angst but it's dropped still), and how most Shonen protagonists respond to this kind of stuff. You may want to see him depressed because of the things he's gone through and yes it's realistic for him to be a little shook up sometimes but he's our hero he goes through some bad stuff and he keeps it moving and we cheer for him for getting past the adversity.
We want to see him triumph and do amazing things not just give up because it's too much. And that goes for every heroic protagonist in fiction as well.

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
I was thinking along the lines of actually choreographing original fight material.Episode 112 looked like the only reference for it was the manga. Which is like saying the only reference is a light novel transcript, because the manga chapter was just words words words. It's not like it's impossible to transform prose-heavy narration into animation (like Katanagatari) but that episode shouldn't have dwelled on it anymore than was necessary to describe the character psychology (like Shoot's).The problem with this logic is it comes across as apologism.Togashi wrote the chapter like that because he was physically unable to draw it properly. If he could have drawn it, he would have, but he couldn't. Thinking he did a good job is fine, but implying it's better than the intended original path is like saying Togashi has no idea what makes his manga entertaining. Hence, I only see it as fan biasing the end result, not unlike people who think Evangelion's 25/26 were works of genius and not a cop-out from budget implosion.
I actually liked EoE and 25 and 26 about the same which is a lot so alright then. The anime hasn't gone exactly in the direction of the manga with a lot of scenes recently making them have a slightly different feel than the manga. With that knowledge why did they fail on making the reasons for Pitou's weird tears obvious? They didn't have to follow the scene exactly and in some ways they didn't but they couldn't figure out a way to pull off the fact that Pitou had never felt tears come out her face before in her life without words either. It just came off as odd looking. There really are things you can't tell just by looking at them and telling them is what that can be used for. But that's just me. @kevo_koma:
I'm sorry but I completely disagree with you.
The way you shut down my opinion I don't really have anything to say to you because I know we won't agree lol…
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
I guess I'm the only one who found the narration to not just be a bunch of text and a poetic way of telling the story of the invasion. Maybe it's also because I've been a lot of older comics which use this same type of narration to let you get into the thoughts of the characters and do a lot of things just seeing them won't (remember how the anime took out the fact that Pitou didn't know why she was crying and that's why she looked so weird while doing it? The scene was beautiful but her crying just came off as weird looking and out of place without the narration of "Pitou had no idea why these wet things were coming out of her face".) I found it to be an excellent way to give off knowledge the characters themselves couldn't give us and just an excellent way to show off the epicness and high stakes of the arc.
I hope the final arc of the series (whenever it continues and that happens) does this as well.

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
Well, I don't know if this helps, but the feeling is, more or less, mutual. It bothers me that I'm bothered by this series, and no one (that I'm aware of) seems to share my concerns or attitude about it. Not that anyone has to, I guess, but it does make me concerned about my personal taste and my ability to judge the quality of a story. It even makes me wonder about my emotions and my morality. Why does this one story invoke so much internal distress in me whereas other stories, that perhaps should invoke more distress, don't? When I see you guys praise it, it kind of reinforces my doubt and makes me wonder why I'm the only one who seems to see it like this (but, to be clear, don't stop praising this series just because of my personal hang up). And this is why I'm very thankful for all the support that's been shown on this thread, assuring me that my arguments are reasonable and understandable.
At any rate, if you thought my posts come off as aggressive or antagonistic, then I'm sorry for that. And I forgive you as well. (Though, I won't lie, sometimes I do feel like letting lose on this thread)
Alright I understand, not everyone is going to like the same things and I understand your story on personal hang ups keeping you from finishing a story even though it's of excellent quality to others. It's all fine.

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
But I liked the discussion with Nobodyman. I think any of us who were involved really do, since we otherwise we wouldn't care and it would just turn into bickering. It's a very informative thing, though, to discuss the opposite opinion when both sides are willing to actually have a discussion. It helps you understand his and, more importantly, your own opinion better. I still love the series and, in fact, engaging in that discussion forced me to understand things about the series or my own interests that I didn't consider before. It's a whole part of learning; thesis->antithesis->synthesis.
Yeah sorry I understand. I was just bothered because the series means a lot to me and seeing him saying some of my most beloved traits of the series were flaws and bad just really pushed my buttons. Sorry for any disruptions I caused.
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
He has strong opinions on the series, so he shares them. Nothing wrong with that. He brings up some valid points worth considering, too.
Nothing wrong with sharing opinions or disliking a series but it went on for pages and pages and all it did was cause another argument in this thread that made what was once an appreciation of a great work with us yes discussing it's downfalls was mostly positive to random attacks on it because it seems fun to kill everyone elses good vibes for them.
Nothing wrong with disliking a series because not everyone is going to like everything or expressing why but there's tact to it and coming in a thread where we were enjoying a good discussion on it and just ruining it by deciding to bring aggression and antagonism in it for no reason is not the way.
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
Did nobodyman really come in here just to make edgy opinions and bring the thread down for everyone else who enjoys the series by saying some of people's favorites characters and stories were bad? Why even join the thread just to bring down everyone's enjoyment? Jeez.
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
They finally got to the scene I'd been really waiting for to be adapted. "Heal Komungi. I'm counting on you." and they pulled it off excellently, it made me tear up as much as it did when I first read it in the manga. Bravo Madhouse.
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
This episode should win an award. If I was Hisoka, I'd be cuming in my pants too.
On that note, I've always wondered why Hisoka didn't go to East Groto as well? The Six Strongest characters (Meruem, Youpi, Pitou, Pouf, Zeno and Netero) in the series are there right now.
From literally the first chapter of the Chairman Arc
Illumi : Haven't you heard Hisoka? The Chairman died dealing with a ant infestation or something. If you weren't spending your time playing around with Chrollo you probably would have been able to fight him.
It's not word for word but basically what he said. He was too busy dealing with getting Chrollo's nen removed to go with them to the East Gorteau.
Edit : DarthAstma posted the page.

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
I just watched the episode. Whoa that was awesome. The way the executed the early part of the Invasion is very different from the manga even though the events go the same way, just the feel of them come off differently
Anyone else was reminded of Evangelion 25 and 26 when they watched this episode? The way the pulled of the action and character introspection, and especially the constant freeze frames to invoke emotional or suspenseful responses reminded me a lot of it. They moved some scenes around from later in the arc so their can be more focus on the action and that parts and I think it's a change for the better.
Bring on next week which the preview implies will feature one of my favorite scenes of the arc! Pitou's tears of joy yes yes.

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
I would say try the game called " The Legend of Dragoon" it's on ps1 but i considered to be on par with One Piece for the title of greatest adventure story ever created . Also try 7 seeds , it's an survival - horror - adventure series and really excellent one at that . And some other excellent adventure series : Jojo , Dorohedoro , Fullmetal Alchemist , Magi and Pandora Hearts .
I've read all of those except for Doroho and I need to rewatch FMA and finish Magi soon. I like Magi but it's not the adventure I was expecting say what you want about HxH "mixing dark and light" or whatever at least it tried with an adventureous feel early on. Magi went straight to slaves and genocide before the first half of the who was even up. Not many fantastic lands or creatures either even though it's a good read.
I'll start FMA brotherhood today though.
Jojo Part 2 IS the most adventurous of them + it does follow a classic shounen fight/adventure route (coupled with Martial Arts Training arc). And it's an awesome read.
You seem to know my tastes because the second Jojo series is my favorite.
Well considering that person read HXH then the gore shouldn't really matter to them.
I don't know if it's obvious by my signature or username but actually I hate violent and gory anime, I got into HxH from the anime which censors the grimier parts and the series is so well written to me and gets you invested in the characters you want to follow them no matter where it leads or where the story goes.
I'll play that PS1 game when I get a chance though if that's any consolation.
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
Speaking of Spoilers, has any found a detailed synopsis of the new movie yet?
I found out the majority of the action takes place in Heaven's Arena and you get to finally see the Upper Floors and the way they get Kurapika involved in the action is clever and works really well. Hope to find more soon.
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
So I got some of the earlier volumes of Hunter x Hunter as some of my Christmas loot and I've said this before but man as much as I love the whole series in general I really miss that Adventerous feel the Hunter Exam arc had to it. The Dragon Ball original type adventure coupled with Togashi's 3 Dimensional and Multi Layered characters made for an amazing read and a feel I've rarely seen replicated anywhere else asides from One Piece.
Does anyone else know any Dragon Ball original inspired manga with the Multi layered Characters Hunter x Hunter has making for a better quality work than DB and an amazing feel? I'd really like to read one.
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
I never looked at it that way. Interesting point
I watched some scenes from Disney's Beauty and the Beast the other night and I wish I hadn't because watching Belle and the Beast's relationship blossom has almost made Komugi and Meryem's relationship seem less unique. Hmmm…..
This thread used to be so much fun…Not every idea has to be completely original to be good. It was well executed and made you feel for both Komungi and the King even though earlier they had played him up to be a Cell expy with no redeeming qualities yet when he meets Komungi he learns what human compassion is and starts to become a better person. Yes we've seen that done millions of times before but Togashi pulled it off so well, coupled with the fact that we rarely see a villain developed like this in a Shonen manga, that it made it an amazing story and just added to the awesomeness the Chimera Ant arc contained. This arc would be nowhere as good without that side plot within it and even though we've seen similar versions of it again and again the way he pulled it off was still very interesting and got you very invested.
Come on guys why does this thread have to have so many random fights nowadays?
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
Stealth bombers would not have gotten past Pitou's heightened senses/ En and I am sure rose bombs are in plentiful supply after they was outlawed.
and what do you mean by finale? If you mean killing the king, then that had nothing to do with Gyro so I don't know why you brought it up after the quote. But I think you are focusing too much on the "killing the king" mission. Granted that seemed like the main point of the arc but a great deal of time was spent on character motivations and development (which you seems to not care about).
Yeah I meant the entire end of the Arc from the start of the Invasion to the King getting poisoned, and him spending his last moments with Komungi. All the fights such as Gon vs Pitou, Welfin vs Ikalgo, Knuckle and Shoot vs Youpi, and the rest included.
I thought it was obvious but whatever, thanks.
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
@RobbyBevard:
The HxH anime has decided to drop a major plot point because its never going to come up in the context of their anime… which is going to end soon. Because togashi hasn't gotten to that plot in 10 years, and it seems unlikely he ever will in any satisfying manner.
But Gyro's existence is very important to the finale of the Chimera Ant arc as he is the motivation for Welfin to become the Shadow King, is the reason Ikalgo gets to live in his battle against Welfin (he gets Welfin to confess that he wants to see Gyro again and it makes his nen move stop working), and the reason he manages to figure out how to get the King's memories back by using that special key word. I don't see how they can just take all of that out.
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
If you look at the people involved in the fight, none of them are doing it for pure, generic "it's the right thing to do" reasons:
! - Gon for Revenge
- Killua to Protect: you could say Killua's desire to protect his friends rivals Illumi's affection towards Killua; It's almost possessive and is extremely violent
- Netero to Test Himself: he's a crazy old man with psychotic tendencies to see how he fares against the Ant King
- Zeno and Silva for Money
- Meleoron for Revenge
- Ikalgo to Test Himself (and die for his friends if need be)
- Morel, Kunckle and Shoot because of their Job (they've also sat back as many people died because saving them would hinder the long term objectives)
It's starting at the beginning of the next episode. This episode ended with them about to enter.
! Zeno and Silva didn't get paid for this. They did it for free because Netero requested a favor from them. Where'd you get that idea from?
! Also isn't Morel, Knuckle, and Shoot doing it because it's their job them doing it because it's the right thing to do .-. I don't understand…Oh man next episode the real fun starts, I'm really excited for the next episode and everything that happens. I really can't wait for the scene when Pitou cries because of the King's belief in her especially. This is gonna be fun.

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
I hope he finally get's fired… seriously, if that was any other mangaka, he would not be able to have a... air quote weekly air quote series. Good series have been thrown out of the jump for less than that.
I hate to say it but the manga means way too much to me for me to want him to get fired and it end prematurely rather than just having to wait another few months or years for the manga to return. I'm a patient guy trust me I just wish we would get more regular new material for the series other than the anime.
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
I know I keep saying this but I really can't be the only one surprised we didn't at least get movie tie in chapters can I? I mean we didn't get any new manga material this year and that's really sad.
Honestly Togashi took his trademark laziness way too far this time and although we get a good manga out of it I'm starting to get irritated Shonen Jump just lets this stuff slide even after trying to work with him in multiple ways so he can get his work done. For example. You know how sometimes a HxH manga chapter will be 14 pages like an older Shonen Manga instead of the now trademark 18? They reduced the pagecount just for him so they could get the manga released on time every week but that obviously still went nowhere.
You know I'm a big Togashi supporter but this is getting really out of hand. I hope he makes it up to us big next year.
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
So close to the Invasion I can taste feel it oh wow. This is going to be exciting.
The next episode seems it's going to cover the last two chapters before Netero's grand entrance. I actually thought that the Invasion started at 261 but upon rereading I just found out I was 2 chapters off. We're still so close though until we get to get to the finale of the arc. I wonder how they will do the Invasion arc btw because a lot of it is one big battle and so much of the pacing for it is weird because it doesn't focus equally on all the battles in it…I just hope they figure it out before the episode comes out.
So excited!
-
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
Aaand its back to Togashi laziness.
So to the guys who were arguing against the Chimera arc being adapted and using the Gungi matches as one of the excuses, how do you think they've fared?
Also wuick question, did Palm really sleep with that guy? If so, why? she could have accomplished the same thing by just knocking him out, she certainly has the capabilities to do so. I don't know, that scene just disturbed me.
I don't see why a woman expressing her right to sleep with who she pleases should disturb you. Ordinary pretty much posted all the problems with just knocking him out and I had no problem with the scene. Also just so when this shows up in the anime and all the new fans are confused Palm was not raped by Bizef, she faked that she was to try and get away from the Chimera Ants.
Because I know some people won't look into that and take the lines at face value…

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
Remember the days where we would just talk about the series in a mostly positive matter with everyone accepting others opinions on it even negative ones without the needs for name calling? Remember when the only insults thrown around were jokes about Togashi's work ethnic despite being an otherwise amazing manga?
I miss those days. I mean why post an opinion if you don't want anyone to reply to it?

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
Do you know why OP arc's flow really well ?! Because of how Oda has structured the series and its internal structure with the way he weavestogether subplots to tie into the main plot, builds up tension, and how everycharacter is connected to each other through a complex network of events . HXH on the other hand doesn't have any of those stuff since there is nothing driving the events in the series . Luffy drives the events in OP with his actions and choices he made along the way . If you take out Luffy's decision to become the pirate king , the series would be completely different from what it is right now . On the other hand , you can take out Gon and all the events that happen in Yorkshin , Greed Island , Chimera Ant , Hunters exam etc…. would still happen which is why this series has nothing that it could tie into . Now if you still consider it to be amazing then i really can't change your mind about it .
Alright see the thing is Gon isn't trying to change the world or be influential. He's just a boy looking for his dad and we see the places that it leads him and the adventures he gets involved in because of that. They could happen without him yes but the point of the story is to see these amazing things through Gon's eyes and how he reacts to them.
Not every story has to be "World at Stake" to be good. I'll take a story that's quaint but epic in it's own ways over watching people face threats that could destroy the entire world all the time any day. This is what HxH usually provides and the one time it does a world at stake arc with the Chimera Ant arc it does it in a refreshing new way that's not only interesting but engrossing because of the rarity of these kinds of plots in the series.
Also random but I liked the King and all Three Royal Guards equally ;-; Yes even Pouf and I wish they could have went down better. The King got a really good one and Pitou at least went down fighting but the other two deserved better.

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
What? I thought it's still about 10 episodes till invasion??
The Invasion starts at Chapter 260
Currently they are on Chapter 257 or 8 and they do 3 chapters per episode.
Yeah it's either this week or next week.

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
This was an amazing episode, just as great as the chapters it was adapted from. The story arc as a whole is really great with a lot of good action and drama but the Komungi plotline was where the Chimera Ant arc started getting really multilayered because it's villain was made so much more complex by it so I'm glad that we're finally here at the real meat of the arc. Especially because the invasion is starting either next week or the one after so the real fun begins there and I'm really hyped for it!
This arc is proof of what makes Hunter x Hunter so different from other Shonen and I'm glad that anime only fans are finally able to appreciate it like I did after I read the manga when I got into the anime. Seriously great stuff.

So I guess we can give up on the idea of getting movie tie in chapters huh?

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
Another really done scene in the previous episode was Leol
s death. I thought in the manga that it lame way for such an interesting villain to die but they ended up not only making it feel epic but even…saddening. Watching the light leave Leol
s eyes as he dies and contemplates the fact that he will doe in this painful and cowardly lame way just really hit me deep and made me feel bad for him just for that moment. -
RE: Hunter x Hunter II
Every week I smile because I finally get to see a scene I wanted to see animated for months now and then I get anxious waiting for the next episode because there are still even more scenes I can't wait to see done with Madhouse's touch.
I'm really excited for every part of the invasion and more importantly every scene they have left with Muruem. One of my favorite's is the scene where on one page the King is finally coming into his existence and realizing who he is as a person and on the opposite page our heroes plot for his destruction. It was just really well done and I hope the anime recognizes such great storytelling technique properly.
This arc is just made of amazing and I can't wait to see the rest of it done justice.

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
So Knov's VA just gave one of the best performances I have heard in the show thus far during his breakdown. Seriously it was amazing. I can't wait to see how other VA's live up to even more emotional scenes later in the series. Just great stuff.

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
This movie looks so intense! Please let it be at least two hours so the story can be properly paced unlike Phantom Rouge.

RE: Hunter x Hunter II
Anyone else notice that Gon gets one of his arms broken every storyarc? Or even when he doesn't he usually begins the arc with one broken and someone threatens to break one at some point?
Its nothing major just something I noticed.

@Fire Fist:
Not how I expected Mereum to be colored at all. I always pictured him being more ant colored (reddish brown and black). With that color scheme he looks like Cyborg Freiza.
…But Mureum has always been colored like this, even in the colored pages of the manga. And he's green to look like Cell. Of which he is a homage too. Not Mecha Frieza.
