A little something Abiru added in.
Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes

Awesome ending, I knew the opening was missing for a reason. Having Departure for 148 was totally worth it!
Did anyone find it amusing that 147's ending was basically an official Gon Killua AMV?

HxH anime has to be the best anime in the last 15 years. A true masterpiece.
Heard rumors the Manga is coming back in 2 weeks, the same source that predicted the manga coming back on June…
-
Ehhh I wouldn't go that far necessarily, but on the other hand I haven't kept up to date on most anime in the past fifteen years, sooo.
But off the top of my head I do remember FMA Brotherhood being really really good, too, but on the other hand, this adaption of HxH was really really good, too
As for the rumor, Idk, I feel like we'd hear about it a bit earlier than just two weeks beforehand if togashi was coming back, but we'll find out in the next few days if that's the case

Honestly, current hiatus is clearly different than past ones in that they actually gave a reason for it (back problems). This to me suggests that the previous ones were not health issues (why only disclose now?), and as such it was easier to give tons of advance notice in those cases because Togashi could start whenever he wanted. In this case, I imagine Togashi will go back to work as soon as he's allowed to, which would mean the time between the notice and the manga coming back would probably be shorter
-
Regardless, I feel like if that were the case, given the amount of time it takes to draw and submit chapters and then to the actual publication, there's a good amount of time for PR and editors to figure that out,and that would be why they were able to tell people well in advance that Hunter x Hunter's coming back before.
But if not, then that's great.
-
Given print schedule and shipping, chapters are done 3 weeks in advance of an issue actually hitting stores.
They'll be able to announce his return with plenty of advance warning, assuming his back problems don't stop him for too long. (But he does seem to have assistants now, so one would really hope that would help.)
-
Downloading the last episode now, can't wait to see it…
So no updates on Togashi's health yet? Did he went through surgery?
-
I don't believe it was ever said to be surgery specifically, but that he was getting treatment.
-

I thought I read something about surgery. :wassat:
So he is no as bad as I thought, I suppose.

I'm really surprised there was nothing about Beyond Netero in the finale. Not even a silhouette or a cameo or anything.
-
Just finished watching, that was a really nice ending to it. Hope they'll continue though.
-

I mean it kinda makes sense. They wanted to end it without really hinting about a sequel series, in part because, well, I think the way they set it up really brought actual closure to the anime (even with the east/west books, but there's kinda not much relevance to putting out, hey there's another Netero around!), and that, well, nobody really knows when or who would make the anime in the future for the Dark Continent arc.
-
Yay for the possibility of having more episodes in the future.
This was the perfect adaptation. I'll miss this anime.
-
I'm going to miss you sonovabitch Madhouse. Take a bow, for you've made a legendary anime adaptation.
-
Well HxH and JJBA3 were the only anime I'm currently following, so I've ran out. Or until the new F/SN comes out anyways.
and it's probably better to end it on an well executed good note that gives closure, rather than the Beyond thing that could only be called a sequel hook.
the word "perfect" gets thrown around a lot, but I think Madhouse deserves to get it. No filler, adapting the entirety of the series without changing any themes and tones, very good choice of music and voice actors. Only thing that was messy was moving Kite's introduction.
I'll buy this if there's ever a good distribution model that I can find.
-
I kind of was hoping to see Beyond's crew in color, but they picked the best stoping point.
-
I don't think that Jump giving an health reason for the current hiatus while they didn't in the past should be taken as an evidence that the other hiatus were not health related at all.
It just seem to me that Jump recently became more open to communicate about the health absences (ex : Ashihara and Oda recent health issues) than in the past when unless the author explained it himself/herself we never knew the reason or only had a very vague one.
-
So does the anime give enough closure to make it worth the watch? I've refrained from reading the manga because it's always on hiatus (and some of that art…), but I'm rewatching YYH with a friend (he's watching it for the first time) and we thought about jumping into Togashi's other series next. But my friend really hates shows without endings, or ones where the ending is still years down the line (OP is the only exception for him).

would it hurt you to read the previous posts?
at least 5 or so people (including me) have mentioned a strong and near-perfect ending, within the last 20 posts.
Yes, yes, yes and yes. It ends on a good note, with one of the major goals of the series achieved. This is also amongst some of the most faith adaptations of any works you will find.
-
I think it has a nice open ending where you know the adventures of those guys will continue, but it doesn't destroy the series even if it would never be continued.

Jump's been open about health absences from before hiatuses that weren't explained
-
Now that the anime has ended I think I'm going to make my new roommate rewatch it all with me lol. It'll be nice to see how it all looks in large chunks.

The current director/team has stated they want to be a part of any future adaption of the series. I'd imagine there'd be enough content from the manga over the course of the year that'd allow them to make an OVA next year. They could release 3~4 OVAs each year (one every three months) for the forseeable future.
-
Still no bluray/dvd release of hxh. How is that possible? I'm sure by now it gained some popularity.
-
How is that possible?
Literally impossible.
-
Welp, looks like it's finally time for me to check out this series.
I've been told by a LOT of people that it's good, but the hiatus situation scared me off from checking it out. I basically didn't want to really get into a series and love it, only then to hit the hiatus point and get sad. Even worse if the situation Togashi is going through that's causing the hiatus ever gets worse, there is a possibility he may quit entirely.
Knowing the new anime ended and has a satisfactory conclusion in its own right, I now feel comfortable checking it out in that form. That way, I don't have to get mid-way through a story arc and be left hanging for any period of time.

Hey dont know if you guys know about the colored one piece manga thread: http://www.arlongpark.net/showthread.php?t=39624&page=65
but I wanted to try to start the same thing with HxH. booklive.jp has the first 31 volumes available in full color digitally. I bought the first volume and use the extractor from the one piece thread to download it all.here's the link:
https://mega.co.nz/#!n4FH1CiS!gYQArIj6F1ti0LkSY6EnScotTzdjOLYVCMD6O6TDDHcIt's in a raw format, so I was hoping some people enthusiastic about HxH could help translate volumes like has been happening in the one piece thread. I would've made a new thread but can't because I'm a pretty new user, so I thought this would be the best place to post

If the author kept any sort of consistent pace or ran shorter arcs, and had any real ammount of backlog built up maybe.
Otherwise you run into the Greed Island problem the first anime had.
But if his "back problems" persist in a way that's consistent with his previous outputs, rather than just a short term problem, it will likely be a long time before we see another anime outside of standalone movie-style stories. For instance, if they had anticipated doing a 5 episode OVA based on the first 10 chapters of his return, the anime studio would now have a problem based on the fact he only got to 9 chapters before the schedule hiccup.

"You should enjoy the little detours. To the Fullest. Because that's where you'll find the things more important than what you want"
-Ging FreecsWell said. Hope the manga can continue, and the anime can eventually return.
-
I'M NOT CRYING, YOU BASTARDS! I'LL KILL YOU, SO DON'T TELL ANYONE!
Madhouse, kudos to you and to the magnificent team that was able to turn this adaptation into a reality, now it's one of those times when I feel like I'll never watch anything as good again, I can call it my favourite anime without hesitation.
Cheers!

Well duh. Of course it's out in japan, what I meant was on bluray/dvd in us or europe.^^
-

Well I mean that's pretty obvious too. There's no physical distributor or publisher for blu rays in those regions. I'm surprised enough that the first 100 eps are on Netflix, but other than that, it's a bit of a stretch to expect physical copies right now
-
I'm really surprised there was nothing about Beyond Netero in the finale. Not even a silhouette or a cameo or anything.
That's such a big can of worms with zero forshadowing. Might as well save it until you can do something proper with it.
-
He got a brief mention in 146 though. But yeah I'm glad they aren't giving out more false hope for a new season anytime soon. It was hard enough seeing Gon and Killua part ways. I just want them back together!
-
You all are making me want to watch the anime.
-
You all are making me want to watch the anime.
What are you? Old Geezer Dexter? Any man worth his beard would be watching Hunter x Hunter!
-
I don't have a beard.
-
2 years of my life have been spent watching Hunter x Hunter 2011. Now it is over. Dayum.
-
Last time I was so excited watching such a quality adaptation week by week was the glorious time while Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood was running.^^
-
There goes another quality anime. What am I to do with life? ):
-
Every time I think about HxH 148, i start to tear up. Help!! D;
-
The ending seems to have impressed you all so much more than me. I'd have been happier without all of the flashbacks.
As for the manga, it's just bullshit. Togashi taking things at his own pace is fine, but dude can't even string ten chapters together.
- mega tantrum

I'm afraid it's got not cure. Rewatching the series may aggravate it :cwy:
-
The addition of flashback in this episode make me feel that there isn't going to be any more anime adaptation for HxH.
I guess is fine since this episode provide closure for those that don't read the manga. -
Its better to play it safe, than left hanging.

I don't have it on me but on Reddit they posted an interview from the end of YYH era Togashi and it stated that he told Shonen Jump he'd only write another manga if he got to do it on his own terms and schedule and without any interference with content.
So you know he has no obligation to write if he doesn't have to right? He does this because he wants to not because he has to. And when he's at his best we get Chimera Ant arcs and York New's so I say let him take his time because it'll be worth it.
-
Four episodes left of the anime to watch for me.
The manga though seems to be on an extended hiatus again. Admittedly, this time it was announced beforehand and that's a commendable move from good ol' Togashi, but shouldn't the readers be getting some kind of update if the hiatus is to be even further extended? How long has it been already? A good month? Six weeks? You tell me. It's long enough either way given that not even ten chapters were published since his return.
That reminds me; the little bet we had is still going? Or did everyone chicken out? -
something unexpected happened (announced a reason: illness) and it was kind of implied it would come back as soon as he recovered so lets just say the bet is on hiatus for now
don't think anyone ever considered that as a possibility, just goes to show how little trust he has given his track record. Though whether "on hiatus until author recovers" means from illness or some extra break afterwards is anyone's guess.:ninja:and a certain someone would cheat out of the bet anyways
-
Yo man, what part of the "joking about the hiatus when they've given a pretty clear health concern will get the thread closed" didn't you read?
