RE: Chapter 790: "Heaven and Earth"
Compare Franky and Law, at least. Good shit for both.
Law wasn't introduced in this arc. Franky's introduction and backstory were all contained in W7, just an arc.
Do you really find Kyros a more interesting original and better developed character than Iceburg? -
RE: Chapter 790: "Heaven and Earth"
Kyros, Cavendish, the Dwarves yes I enjoyed Leo mostly, Bartolomeo, Don Chinjao, Sai, Bellamy, some of the officer like Pink, Lao G, Baby 5 and others were pretty fun to watch(the fatties and Sugar were the lamest ones), I liked King Riku, Dagama and the Elizabelo were fun, Corazon, Sabo and Koala.
Ok, now, compare the development of those characters (except Bartolomeo) with Iceburg or Franky in Water7.

RE: Chapter 790: "Heaven and Earth"
@Doffy.:
This arc easily had the best side / supporting cast i have seen in the entire series .
Who? Rebecca? Violet? King Riku? The dwarves? Diamante? Kanjuro? Countless gladiators that didn't matter?
Easily one of the worst supporting cast in the series. -
RE: Bleach Discussion 0: Hello Darkness my old friend
Suddenly Wahrwelt became Wahrwald in this chapter. Which would translate into true forest. Do they wanna go for a picnic or something?

RE: Bart Simpson Thread XI: The Movie - The Manga Adaption - The Animation
@Purple:
Nnnnot necessarily. Your point was "These characters are indistinguishable based on a random image," not "these characters are the same in design." If you know the series, just like in a real show with distinguishable looks of characters, of course you'll be able to tell Yamcha apart from Gohan, or Coulson from the rest of the SHIELD cast
Kinda yes and kinda no. Dragonball is a special case, cause you see the characters literally everywhere, not just a random image of them, even without watching the show. My point is that being able to tell the characters apart even without watching the show is a good sign of character design variety, that's all. No offence to the great characters that Toriyama has created.
-
RE: Bart Simpson Thread XI: The Movie - The Manga Adaption - The Animation
If you have no familiarity with a cast, even LIVE ACTION people can look indistinguishable.
You are right, but we're talking about comics where there are just many more ways to create diverse looking characters.
-
RE: Bart Simpson Thread XI: The Movie - The Manga Adaption - The Animation
I hadn't watched Dragonball and hadn't known who they are or their personality.
To be honest what i'm saying is that a character may look really similar with another one, if the artist just changes the haircut or puts a minor scar. There are more stuff on someone's head, like, a face you know.
This is now the Dragonball Discussion thread. -
RE: Bart Simpson Thread XI: The Movie - The Manga Adaption - The Animation
1)Toriyama-san is fully capable of distinct looking characters.
He can draw distinct characters but let's not exaggerate here, before i watch DBZ i wasn't be able to tell the difference between Goku, Yamucha and Gohan. Basically same face and different haircut. He's pretty good though at drawing different alien type characters.
Anyways, that has nothing to do that Boruto looks like Naruto with banana peels hair.
-
RE: Bart Simpson Thread XI: The Movie - The Manga Adaption - The Animation
@Cyan:
Kids looking exactly like their parents isn't just a Kishi thing.
See: Goku's family. That's kinda different, cause Toriyama just suffers from the same-face syndrome. Kishimoto on the other hand is able to draw dinstictive characters. Unless they're parents and kids.
-
RE: Bart Simpson Thread XI: The Movie - The Manga Adaption - The Animation
Someone should really tell Kishimoto that kids don't necessarily look like clones of their parents.
-
RE: Chapter 783: Path Blocking
@O:
so any good hypothesis on what the gear 4 is?
It's probably Luffy's 「Stand」
-
RE: Chapter 783: Path Blocking
That's the most disrespecting thing i've ever read for Oda, wow. Are you for real?
-
RE: Chapter 774: Tontatta Warrior Chief, Leo
Did we really need another crying princess Oda?
Underwhelming chapter for an underwhelming subplot. -
RE: Bleach Discussion 0: Hello Darkness my old friend
This is so stupid i can't even. I thought quincies were supposed to be humans. Humans with superpowers. What the hell is Ychwach supposed to be, the floating mustache god?
Seriously, writing can't get any poorer than this. -
RE: Chapter 770: Elbaf's Spear
RIP Machvise. When there's such a big group of antagonists it's given that you can't develop every one of them, but Machvise was exceptionally bland, worse than Hody's fishmen pirates.
I also can't see why people are that much annoyed with Zoro. He's having fun fighting with Pika, and for once, i can't predict how Pika can be beaten. Haki? He's practically immortal.
-
RE: Fairy Tail Discussion III
Someone still needs to kill Zeref now that Mardgeer's out of the picture. And someone needs to take care of the Acnologia guy/dragon.
Other than that yeah, it should be ending. -
RE: Chapter 769: Pirate Bellamy
So what, Trebol's beta is inflammable, Ceasar's gas was inflammable as well. There's no proof though that it damages the Logia body even if it's set on fire and explodes. Hell, that way we don't need Robin, anyone with a lighter would be able to set them on fire and beat them.
Robin is able to stall Trebol but beating him without Haki is just a fantasy. -
RE: Chapter 769: Pirate Bellamy
Robin's not an elite Haki fighter so i highly doubt she can beat Trebol
-
RE: Chapter 769: Pirate Bellamy
You can see the blood and the jagged cut
The jagged cut is just his jacket, he could just have left Dofla cut it if he just shambl'd his arm. The blood isn't really hard to excuse as well. I'm grasping at straws here, i just can't believe that Law would just let his arm be cut like that.
-
RE: Chapter 769: Pirate Bellamy
Maybe Law shambl'd his own hand right before Dofla cut it? That would be a really Law-ish thing to do
-
RE: Bart Simpson Thread XI: The Movie - The Manga Adaption - The Animation
I liked Deidara. His techniques were really creative for Kishimoto's standard, he was a villain with no redeeming value and he hated the Sharingan as much as i did.
-
RE: Bleach Discussion 0: Hello Darkness my old friend
Old baldy was okay but i can't stand Ukitake and Kyoraku acting smug and taking a stroll n chillaxing with all that's happening. That's just so Kubo.
-
RE: One Piece Chapter 766: Smile
Law trying to cast Cure wounds on Rocinante was absolutely cute.
Roci's such a weird and lively guy. I'm gonna miss him :(One is a Swallow the other is a Whale why do you think they look alike? weird.
Because it's an island shaped like an animal?
-
RE: Bart Simpson Thread XI: The Movie - The Manga Adaption - The Animation
So, Naruto ends with a teenage (ninja) movie ending.
Am i the only one that doesn't give a tiny single f about who hooks up with whom? -
RE: 668: "The Final Round Begins — Diamante the Hero Takes the Stage"
Honestly, that was the slowest episode i can remember. Diamante and Burgess were awkward as hell.
-
RE: Chapter 765: Minion, the Island of Fate
So yes, Rocinante should be able to cancel the vibrations that travel through air and water.
I'm not sure if and I don't think light waves share the same properties as those mentioned above.Oh but they do share the same properties, they are waves/vibrations it's the frequency that it's different.
Rocinante ate the Nagi Nagi devil fruit and he's a soundless man as he himself said. That means he can filter out
every frequence/vibration within the human's acoustic spectrum, namely 20Hz to 20Khz.A seismic vibration isn't though something limited to a spectrum as our hearing. You can't just filter out every possible frequency
that the vibration consists of.Long story short, the only thing Rocinante could do to Whitebeard's earthquakes, considering he can do something of a large scale like that, is making them soundless.
-
RE: Chapter 765: Minion, the Island of Fate
In that sense Corazon would be able to cancel someone's vision because light is waves too.
He's just cancelling waves of the sound spectrum. So, no way for him to cancel Whitebeard's earthquakes.
After all they're both dead. -
RE: Bart Simpson Thread XI: The Movie - The Manga Adaption - The Animation
There, that would have fixed the serie.
Welp Rock Lee's awesomeness was an essential part of the first few arcs. I can't remember though the last time he was relevant to the story.
-
RE: Bart Simpson Thread XI: The Movie - The Manga Adaption - The Animation
The only good thing i can think of Kishimoto is that if his manga(s) were about 200 chapter long, he would be a superb mangaka. The initial concept, plot and characters of Naruto were pretty great. He had some great ideas at the beginning, which is obvious in the 1st part. The more he tried to develop and add things to his story and world the more he failed, eventually running out of ideas completely.
Of course there are examples of nice manga running for 700 chapters, but personally i find it just unnecessarily long. -
RE: Bart Simpson Thread XI: The Movie - The Manga Adaption - The Animation
There are so many places with people that adore whatever happens in Naruto and consider it the greatest masterpiece. Just let us make fun of/criticize a bad manga.
-
RE: Chapter 764: "White Monster"
Has it been discussed how Homing, Doflamingo, and Rocinante even could escape the villagers? Don't see the villagers changing their mind after Doflamingo's declaration to kill them all. I would think someone would have had to save them. Vergo perhaps? Or maybe Kaido?
I can't see an 8 years old Vergo saving Doflamingo's family in that situation. Perharps that's when Doflamingo awoken his Conqueror's Haki, kinda like how Ace did.
-
RE: Chapter 763: Human Declaration
Luffy is indeed the main character. And he's pretty important as well, more important than Law. But he's not the most important character in One Piece.
Law appeared in Sabaody arc and along with Kidd were the two most important Supernovas, aside from Luffy. -
RE: Chapter 763: Human Declaration
Of all the things, i never expected someone to say Law is the Sasuke of One Piece. That's just… disgraceful and distasteful. Why do people feel the need to say such things? Who should be a D. then in the present timeline? A mysterious new character with no connections whatsoever? Another Supernova? A marine admiral? We don't even know what the D's are. Plus you have to realise that Law is a pretty important character already. He will not get away whether you like it or not.
Also, i suppose Law's mother was the D, i find it hard to believe that there'd be a D among the creators of the World Government. -
RE: Brook vs. Zeff (this time for real)
Let's send Brook to the quarter-finals guys. He deserves it :)
-
RE: Magi
New chapter's out: http://reader.sensescans.com/reader/read/magi__labyrinth_of_magic/en/15/236/page/1
I really like Ugo. My favorite flashback character actually. -
RE: Naruto and Bleach V - The Not-So-Final Frontier
Naruto's out on Mangapanda http://www.mangapanda.com/naruto/690
Well, what a surprise, another mediocre chapter -
RE: The "Shueisha" Thread
Is anticlimatic because in overall the game was bad so it ends in a low note! At least for me.
It was certainly bad, but i would call it preferably a dull and unimaginative last battle. But that's different than anticlimactic or abrupt if you may say.
-
RE: The "Shueisha" Thread
I was thinking about Eyeshield 21 that went beyond the Christmas Bowl which was the main goal of the series to play some lame All-Star match against the Americans.
IMO it should have ended after they won the Christmas Bowl.. E21 lost it's magic after that, it was like i was reading a different manga :(
-
RE: Law vs. Tom
Hey now that's not cool. Leave Law be. Law is cool.
-
RE: The "Shueisha" Thread
Wait, so Kuroko is the series that's ending? Kind of anticlimactic, for me at least.
But they just defeated the 'main bad' of the series, how is that anticlimactic? Anything more than 2 or 3 chapters after last chapter would be nonsense imo. It's kinda good that some authors have a sense when their series should be over. I'm looking at you Kishimoto.

RE: Naruto and Bleach V - The Not-So-Final Frontier
Didn't Kakashi mention like 100 chapters ago that he was running out of chakra? And now he's able to pull out a fully developed Susanoo, and incorporate the Kamui abilities into it, seemingly without difficulty, even though it has been said that using the sharingan when you're not an Uchiha uses a lot more chakra than normal.
Running out of chakra is an oh so Part-1 Naruto thing. Our Part 2 heroes contain more energy than the Big Bang.

RE: Naruto and Bleach V - The Not-So-Final Frontier
@Aru:
I liked the idea in Bleach, but Kubo made it illogical as shit fucking god damn it.Kubo, you show us Hitsugaya kills Mayuri… and then he somehow comes back in time? WHAT? HOW?! Because if he doesn't come back in time - once he killed Mayuri and it was all in his mind, his mind would come back to the point BEFORE he killed Mayuri and he'd think he fights him again - THIS PART IS OKAY. But he DOESN'T COME BACK THIS WAY! He literally goes back in time, to when he didn't kill Mayuri, kills him again and is stuck in a time loop. HOW DID MAYURI CREATE MEDICINE FOR THE BRAIN THAT MAKES A PERSON STUCK IN A TIME LOOP?! Especially since Kubo's explanation, made by Mayuri, tells us Kubo thinks he created a time loop only in his brain - and in that case Hitsugaya never killed Mayuri, and if it was true, he'd never get stuck in a time loop! Did he get stuck by... thinking about killing him? What?! WTF?!This is LITERALLY as simple as basic logic to understand and fix, but no, he fucked up something that easy and it makes me angry!
As far as i'm concerned, it's not a medicine that creates a time loop, the only one that perceives it like that is the victim.
We also see the events in this chapter from the victim's point of view. In actuallity the only thing that Hitsugaya does right now is having illusions about the future till a certain event (killing Mayuri) and/or fighting handicapped. -
RE: Magi
The only thing i didn't like in this chapter is Ugo not wearing the hipster glasses.
Oh, and an explanation about why Arbgokuen got suddenly so crazy would be nice. -
RE: Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes
@TLC:
I find him more to be a writer with a lot of good ideas but with no self restraint and who gets bored easily so he throws out an idea regardless on whether they have a place in the story and quickly moves onto the next thing.
Are we talking about Kishimoto? lol
You may say that his ideas are relatively out of place and the arcs don't feel that connected, but it doesn't seem to me that he gets bored that easily or at all. For example CA was a pretty consistent arc, 9 years of serialisation (with hiatuses) but he definetely took his time, solving major and minor plot points, he could have for example got bored with the idea and just end the arc 50 chapters sooner. -
RE: Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes
Movie was kinda meh… The villains felt like they belong to another anime. All the On-hatred/Nen-friendship antithesis was really awkward and Netero being fodder... geez.. Leorio did absolutely nothing, as much as Hisoka did. Welp, cool animation i guess.
-
RE: Crocus vs Law vs Zoro vs Don Chinjao
LOL that's the most crazy triple-draw i've ever seen. I couldn't see that coming a couple of hours ago when i voted Law.
Don't betray the Law guys. -
RE: Kid vs. Doflamingo vs. Brook vs. Smoker
Brook and Brook only. Easily one of the best and most hilarious character introductions ever :)
-
RE: Filler Match 2! Most adorable One Piece Kid
I can't vote any of this kids therefore i vote for the Koala
!
