Which reminds me, why the HELL is Funi's Mustang going to voice Al now? If anything, he should be taking on the role of Armstrong in a live-action movie. I'm serious, in the video where he announces his role as Zoro, I was mistaken at first to think he was Armstrong because he was large, bald, and beefy. For a full five minutes afterward, I even confused the names Mustang and Armstrong because of it.

Ummm… where to start, lol.

Travis Willingham voices Mustang, as well as Ace. Chris Sabat is the voice for Armstrong/Zoro.

Now that said, funimation as not made a casting choice for the next Al yet. That specific question was asked to Travis at anime con and he responded "We haven't figured out who will play Al; we'll probably hold auditions with kids again. Aaron can't do the voice anymore, we've already decided it won't be him."

The thing about Sabat playing Al was a joke :P

Well the new anime does look prety good, already retroactively introducing things relevant to the later plot, like Xingese alchemy, Kimbley's reasons, the reason on why Al can't transmutate with his hands, the Fhurers' powers, looks promising.

And I didn't like the other anime because the derrailment on the personalities of the homonunculi.

Yeah, he's being voiced by Shinichiro Miki now. So far the only cast members who have reprised their roles are the seiyuu for Ed, Al, Bradley, Hughes, Armstrong, Trisha, and Pinako.

it's funny that the first anime finished not even 5 years ago, and that's all they can get for voice actors, yet DB has been finished for how long, and they got all their voice actors back. :P

If they take out Yorki… I'll be pissed off, come on, he is a gag character right uptill the pride incident, and when they nedded to cross some mines, he is easily reemplazable, but he SHOULDN'T be replaced!!!

It's still the same general premise for all three: An Anime is remade with a slightly tweeked title and more closely fallows the story, including the real ending. (Unless I'm mistaken about Hellsing. I'm not a fan of that.)

DB Kai isn't a remake at all. It's DBZ in HD widescreen, blood edits to shit, and 170 less episodes. Only thing that is actually new is they remade the ending and intros. If it was a remake the whole series would be redrawn to match the intro and endings animation.

Hellsing Ultimate and FMA: Brotherhood are technically reboots not remakes. Since they're going to follow the manga more closely while FMA and the original Hellsing diverged from the manga at one point with original non canon material since the mangas weren't complete at the time.

DBK is a remake in the same sense that polishing and re-painting a car is rebuilding it. (Which is to say it's not, but I use the word anyway.) They're going through the trouble to draw extra background details to fit widescreen and a few minor moments will be animated differently so that they have no excuse for boring padding.

Reboot applies to a series of any kind (Batman, Star Trek, Hulk) while remake applies to single units of media. (Parent Trap, I am Legend, Ladykillers, War of the Worlds) Frankly, I don't care about the difference.

This week's episode was pretty weird. Not bad, but i can't help but feeling the 1st anime handled Lior much better. Rose and the gun didn't bother me, but Cornello Hulk..? Oh well, i guess they need to surprise the old fans. At least Bones is quickly taking out of the way the stuff we've already seen animated.
..and do we really need "Ed is short lol" jokes every minute?

It's not the same thing. DBZ Kai is more like the Special Edition of Star Wars- taking the old footage, shining it up and adding some new crap to make it (hopefully) look better for the current market.

Hellsing Ultimate and this new Hagaren show are more along the lines of the recent King Kong movie, in that it's a complete redo.

DBK has vital differences with Star Wars Special Edition. Star Wars was messing with the source material, while DBK is correcting the addaption so that it will be more accurate to the source material, while hopefully fixing several plot holes.

For the record, War of the Worlds and King Kong were both vastly improved with their remakes, despite Tom Cruise being in one of them. Dekota Fanning compensates for him.

^Does that have anything to do with this rumored omake I've read about involving Rose taking Ed's words to heart and becoming a bandit leader or something? Cause I own all of the volumes released in English so far (up to Vol. 17) and I've seen nothing like that in their omake.

Yeah, my only real complaint thus far is that they need to work out a more acceptable humor/drama ratio. Some of the funny faces were in the manga, most weren't, I think. Well, we're getting into some grim stuff with Nina and Scar soon, so I hope they manage to work something out. I'm glad they kept in the scythe thing though. I don't think it was in the first series.

It hit me while watching this episode that the pastels and coloring of the art is trying to evoke Arakawa's painting illustrations. That's a pretty cool approach, I think.

It's the Hulk!Cornello that was from an omake. Which sort of makes the fact it happened in the anime as srs bsns more head-desk inducing.

I was mostly disappointed at the lack of Godhammer at the end. The absence of the huge Leto statue sticking out of the roof would actually sort of affect a future chapter too, now that I think about it, though I suppose it's a minor thing.

And the pacing of the anime really needs to improve. They squashed in two chapters this episode, which is like having four chapters of One Piece in one episode. :/ As a result, they left out a lot of little things I like, such as Ed's devious grin when he comes across the broadcasting room, and zipped through events without really leaving any time for the viewers to digest what they saw.

Hopefully the next episode is better paced, especially considering what happens.

And of course, waaaah, Yoki. I'm more concerned with how they will introduce Mei if they do forgo the Yuuswell arc entirely.

you know, i was thinking, maybe they're rushing through the first bit, cause we've already seen it, and leaving more room to animate the new stuff they didn't animate before. I know they left some things out, but i thought the episode was handled well. the hulk thing worked for me.

Just watched some eps of the 2nd season. So far I enjoyed the first season's version better. The mom flashback in the 1st version better established how close the kids were with mom while the 2nd season focused more on the science aspects. Also I liked the exam in the first season better with Elric saving the other Alchemist from the falling rocks while Nina and Al watched from outside. For Liore I guess it's unfair to really compare since the 1st season was 2 episodes while the new season version was only 1 episode. So the 1st season had more time to flesh it out.

I guess my real complaint so far is the pacing. Everything is moving too fast. If they're going to be doing 2 chapters a episode since there maybe 51 episodes most likely with 100 chapters of the manga alot of things are going to be cut out. Especially since FMA chapters are like 40 pages. But we'll see.

I found the pacing to be just the best thing about the anime even better than the great animation, Finaly an anime adaption that doesnt leave me snoozing on the couch just to stretch out each half chapter to 30 min.

WOW, that part w/ the hulk/Cornello was awesome, and not to mention funny, like always (afterward I mean). I think the next episode though will be only 1 ch, since it is longer, hopefully.

I think you guys should hold off on the "bad pacing" complaints until they get farther along, seeing as how they're obviously rushing through the material they've already covered.

Well the pacing may stay like this. Once they get to the new manga material they'll still have to rush things. Especially if this is only a 50+ episode run. With 100 chapters that means with the intro and the ending that about a 24 minutes episodes. FMA chapters are like 40 pages a chapter. If they can manage to fit 80-90 pages into a 24 minute episode without causing pacing problems is going to be crazy.

I'm not surprised Aaron isn't gonna be Al anymore, I expected it. But boy… it's gonna be hard to get use to a new voice for Al... I wonder exactly how Aaron sounds now, I know he voiced Kid Zoro in UA which I haven't heard, but I'd imagine his voice has gotten even deeper since. I guess it's gotten pretty damn deep if he can't even mimic the voice anymore. I've also heard that Aaron's lines of Al were one of the first things recorded and that they had him blaze through the recording process of all the episodes just in case his balls were to suddenly drop. I haven't seen the movie, but considering it happened a bit later, was Aaron's voice deeper in it?

I was able to watch the first funi episode online, and i'm in canada. I still think it's really cool though, that it airs in the am my time, and 6-12 hours later i can watch it. :3 com on. that's cool.
