if that was the case, I wonder why Luffy asked Usopp to get on the Going Merry WAY BACK at Usopp's home island…........
Simply because they were friends.

Usopp also took out Django. I think that fight would have gone the same way if it was one on one, personally.
Usopp is a hat now? The type that Luffy wears? And he will be forever? We can't change Usopp back to his human form? Or at least back to Sogeking?! zomg i r teh cunfuzed @ titul of dis topic.
Lol @ topic creator, no1 stole your thing about Oda drawing himself into a corner, it's been brought up countless times, most people just don't remember it. Oda probably knows what'll happen for the next 3 volumes already (at least).
And about the whole Usopp discussion… yeah, he is like, infinitely braver than he was before (bravery points Luffy=100000, Zoro/Sanji=99999, Franky=80000, Nami=60000, Robin=45000, Usopp current=30000, Chopper=25000, Usopp intro-char=0. [like, he went up maybe 3 points during his intro storyline, but his intro-intro was even more cowardly that Chopper's.] Remember, psychotic losers who like going on about blah blah etc zomg u r teh biasedzz, this is IMO only. Anyway, ratio of 30000 to 0 is infinity, so that's how much braver Usopp is!), and he has done some useful things, sooo….
Yeah, Usopp surpassed Chopper in awesome in my personal inner book of teh ublarness after he became Sogeking, and he'll probably stay there. I'll wait for Chopper to manage a way to control his mind in monster form. Usopp will stay ahead even after that, though. Catching up to Sanji in my book, though. I know most others will kill me for that. Current positions in my book are:
Robin>>Luffy>Zoro=Nami>Franky>>Sanji>=Usopp>Chopper
/end_rant/
This has been said some other time before but I'll repeat it:
If Luffy was reading this and saw people like Akatsuki then he woul be kicking our asses.
He would also kick others that wants Usopp to not rejoin the Mugiwaras…..
Like I said before.... It doesn't matter what we think..... Luffy accepts Usopp as who he is.......
Simply because they were friends.
naw, I don't think it's "that" simple. sure they were friends, but if I was going to go somewhere dangerous I would not invite my friends, unless I knew they could handle themselves. Luffy invited Usopp because he knew Usopp could hold his own.
Of coarse, Usopp did not hold his own in W7, because he was letting his emotions get the better of him, and was being senceless. Which of coarse was probably part of the reason Luffy was so mad at him, becasue Usopp was not using his potential, like he should. ("um usopp, you know your not physicaly strong enough to beat up the FF. why did you not be smart or tricky, instead, like your so good at")
I don't know what Oda has in store, but Usopp is a part of the team, a main charicter in the story. I can't see him just trashing Usopp. Especially after creating Sogeking. That would be a waste. Usopp doesn't have to do anything special, just as long as he gets back to his sences, and faces forward, I will be happy.
I would also agree with Simply, they are friends.
It's simple as that….
but lots of people likes to see some major stuff to be done by Usopp..... it doesn't matter if Usopp does something huge..like destroy a BC ship, or does nothing at all like getting beaten to a pulp...... at the end of the day, Luffy will yell " USOPP, YOU ARE MY NAKAMA". Simple as THAT.

I never said Usopp wasn't a straw hat. I said that the constant downgrading of his abilites and worth is incredibly depressing.
I never said Usopp wasn't a straw hat. I said that the constant downgrading of his abilites and worth is incredibly depressing.
I understand the feeling….... but let's see how this arc turned out first..... there might be still a silver lining.......
Will the Strawhats have a faceless number or will they remain a group of elite? If they achieve One Piece as a group then Usopp might get overshadowed. If they get a faceless mass however, then Usopp gets cooler. I doubt that they will get a faceless number though, maybe a bunch of people who admire them or friends. They already got heaps, like Montblanc and all that.
Usopp has only been getting the sticky end of the stick for a short while, really. Usopp will be fine no later than the Van auger battle.
he pulled it off!…. Usopp will be back as a mugiwara....... it's just a matter of time.....
In chapter 427:
! Usopp tells Luffy not to mistake him, he's olny around to help save Robin. He still shows bitterness and called Luffy an freak. He respected the captain but Oda had pulled a Robin on Usopp, making him not the part of the crew.
The hell…Well let's see what happens

Yeah, that bugged me too. The previous chapter left me thinking that Usopp had come around and forgave Luffy. That hasn't happened yet. Let's not forget that Usopp still appears in the Color Spreads with the rest of the Straw Hats though! That's a good sign, right? That and he's the 6th most popular character in Japan.
Hopefully they will make up soon so we can have our Luffy/Usopp/Chopper joking trio back! I miss those days…
just wait till the next chapter for this one…I highly doubt Usopp is still angry at Luffy........ at all..... probably he does that to make Luffy stand up and finish off...you know who....
You know, after thinking about it why do some people trivialize Ussop's act in "A Legendary Hero"? It wasn't defeating incredible opponents, but Ussop did show that he had an incredible talent that none of the others SHs have. He was the only one who could hit those marines from the bridge, and shooting Spandam's face twice in a row proves that it was his aim that did it (lightning never strikes twice). It's a good development in Ussop's skill.
Really, that act might be enough for now. Without Ussop's efforts and the rest of the crew's efforts the whole crew would have failed, isn't that one of the themes of this series? Working as a team?
croc said many people can not come to grip the grand lines power and loose it that what i think ussop been going through this arc

He's been suffering from poor self image ever since Davey Back Fight for some reason. It's been affecting his game. It might be the overwhelming terror of the grand line, but he's taken fish people, mole women, and a whole LOT of craziness in stride (well he yelled a lot, but it didn't break him.) Heck, he even handled a thunder god pretty well (in actually outsmarting said thunder god.) I think it may just be the last vestiges of his play-pirate self naggling at him.
someone should send oda a message, postcard or whateva and ask what's up with usopp.

Eh, I'm sure he's going somewhere.
Eh, I'm sure he's going somewhere.
of course.
would be interesting nonetheless.
I think he'd quite like it,…talking a little bit about the psyche of his characters.
i think oda's view on most of the matters we discuss is different from ours.I'd say he's weighting the symbolisms more (naturally he has a better understanding of his own ideas^^)
For example, how many would have guessed he would let lucci be superiour over enel (that sbs answer was no fake, was it?) ?
We would have said lucci ain't a rubberman so he's screwed but oda doesn't seem to have such a 'technical' view.
blablabla^^

Which SBS was that? I don't remember it but it sounds very interesting. Not volume 43 was it?

it's in the latest update of enels wiki entry:
In a recent SBS, Oda confirmed that if Lucci and Eneru were to fight, Lucci would narrowly manage to win.
In a recent SBS, Oda confirmed that if Eneru were actually a wanted pirate, he would have a bounty of no less than 500,000,000 berries.
should be in the latest sbs just like that bounty, but i haven't read a full translation of that sbs myself so i don't know if it's valid.
In a nutshell:
Usopp is better than a normal human.

greg posted kind of an overview in the vol.43 disussion but he mentioned only enels bounty, nothing about enel vs. lucci.
anyway, greg should know if it's in there.I'll PM him about that right now.
edit:wow, in the pm, i cut half a sentence by mistake. He should understand the intended meaning anyway^^
I can see Lucci beating Enel. It's Six King Gun that does it; it's like a constant, no-dounside reject dial. I bet enel can only restart his own heart so many times.
Rob can't CONNECT…...you have to hit something for it to hurt him, Wiper only did it because he had a chunk of Seastone

I would not put it past Lucci to have some seastone. And what Waipa did was release seastone dust into the air, weakening enel's powers.

don't you think that we would know by now if lucci would use seastone in battle?

It's been longer than that~ Usopp has been struggling with himself ever since his first fight with Chu. There's been little hints in every arc pretty much.
don't you think that we would know by now if lucci would use seastone in battle?
He probably didn't think he'd need it. Against a logia he'd be a little better prepared.

If that oda statement (narrowly manage to win) is true i'd say lucci isn't using seastone cause he would chop up enel in seconds if he had any.
…but of course it's true that he could if he wanted. The marine was even using nets made of seastone to capture the pirates at loguetown^^

Well, if the SBS said it, then it must be true. Maybe Lucci's sixkinggun can get past logia defense? After all, Lucci barely touches his opponent with this move, and it apparently does internal damage.
Uhh… Lucci is a DF user.. whether he's in Leopard form or not, if he used Kairoseki, he too would become weak and pathetic...
In terms of HOW he would defeat him.. I would assume he would do it using Rankyaku + Soru Shigans in the split second Enel got hit by the Rankyaku where his concentration is lost and he can't turn into lightning.
He's also a Geppou + Soru master, so I believe with that he could likely dodge Lightning long enough to deal damage to Enel/fly. I mean one of Enel's huge advantages was that Luffy couldn't reach him in the sky.. so.. meh

Of course he can't touch the seastone itself but that doesn't prevent him from using it.
Remember smokers weapon? It's seastone-tipped.
I am more toward's Refii's theory…... I think Lucchi would be fast enough to hit Eneru.........using soru....... and his leopard form looks very fast....even for Eneru to use mantra.......

You have valid points there. Unfortunately, in this forum at least, the worth of a main character in a shounen manga is not determined by how much the character contributes to a mission, but rather by how worthy his/her opponent is, how the battle is drawn out and other battle related criteria. This is what I learn after spending a few months in this forum.
I can give you an example using another character, namely Nami.
How many people remember that she fought successfully for the key that freed Zoro and Usopp from the no. 2 handcuff? Without that key, Usopp won't even have the chance to snipe Spandam from the top of the justice tower, thus saving Robin. Zoro might or might not win Kaku (The one holding the correct key) lugging Usopp around.
How many people remember other small things she had done, like using her navigational skills to reach EL after Rocketman was pushed out of the track?
The people here only criticize how little input she had in the battle (As if Clima tact had a will of its own), among other things. Some even went further to call her a useless baggage lugged around by the crew, simply because she's a weak fighter. They continue to call her helpless, etc.
Hence I am not surprised seeing people trivalising Usopp's act in "A Legendary Hero". I am also not surprised that he had it worse than Nami, because he didn't even get a worthy opponent, not yet.

Very nice post, , very valid points as well. I'm glad there are people out there willing to support the characters despite all the hate going around.

I doubt the Six-Bullet King is as powerful as a Reject, but it's certainly stronger than Impact. However, Wiper was only able to hurt Ener because of the Seastone, so it's unlikely that Lucci could ever hope to win.
Even if a Zoan is the strongest DF in physical combat, Logias are still superior to all other fruits.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Usopp shoots something. Something gets shot. Something also happens.
Keep on topic, guys.
Question: Do you think the flour star Usopp used will come back in a significant way?

…..Oda reportedly SAID lucci would win, that's why I thought about it at all.
Is that official, or is it some typical Wikipedia made up crap? I don't remember Greg mentioning anything about Lucci vs Enel in his translation of the SBS.
In terms of HOW he would defeat him.. I would assume he would do it using Rankyaku + Soru Shigans in the split second Enel got hit by the Rankyaku where his concentration is lost and he can't turn into lightning.
Lightning travels in air at a speed of 150,000 km/s. That's virtual teleportation. Lucci could never in a hundred thousand years be that fast, unless of course he was in a manga called Dragonball Z.
He's also a Geppou + Soru master, so I believe with that he could likely dodge Lightning long enough to deal damage to Enel/fly. I mean one of Enel's huge advantages was that Luffy couldn't reach him in the sky.. so.. meh
Ener has an unlimited supply of electricity, and even with a capped voltage and a static amphere rating, he can still flood areas with massive amounts of lightning. Additionally, because of how fast the lightning travels, it's ridiculous to believe that anyone could really survive for very long against him.
Well, if we can find someone with the direct SBS quote, we can settle all this. After all, it is Oda's story so if he says so then it must be true. I'll still go with my "Rokuougan can break the logia barrier" theory, if this SBS quote exists.
.., it's ridiculous to believe that anyone could really survive for very long against him.
hmmm, did anyone die actually^^?
Uh yeah, he blew up that one island, remember?
Granted, most of the people were on ships, but there were probably still some on the island.

**Lucchi _may_not be that fast, but I'm pretty sure someone in OP is. Seeing as how Lucchi seems to be mid-tier in the OPworld.
Not like it really matters. If they were to ever fight, Lucchi's fighting speed is faaaar above Enel's. Enel doesn't have much fighting speed.**
