Does anyone know where to get the Japanese releases of the DVDs online? I think the searches I keep ending up with are the HK bootlegs and I'm much more interested in a Japanese release.
Japanese DVDs

eBay, where else? XD
Tho I'm sure theres another site.
-
yesasia has some Japanese ones, but they're quite expensive. Try out the Taiwan ones just for $12.99 for 98 mins there. The dialogue is in Japanese with Chinese subtitles. Try getting those instead of those that are over $40 for four eps.
-
CDJapan has them too.
-
I found a site called thisisanime.com that seems to have boxed sets from Japan. I think I might try that site, but I'll be looking at the other sites you guys gave me as well. Thanks a bunch!
-
If they have subs, they're probably bootleg. The Japanese DVDs don't have any subs.
-
Here's another site where you can get them really cheap.
http://www.meganimedvd.com/itemdetail.php?Id=274
They will also ship it to your house very fast!
-
90%+ of stuff from ebay is bootleg…
anything that has chinese subtitles is bootleg
any anime that is "all region" is bootleg
get it from amazon.co.jpooshi78

Not true. Lots of legal Chinese companies make DVDs with Chinese/Japanese audio and Chinese subs.

and even more companies rip those companies off and bootleg them. on top of that dixxy is looking for the japanese release. japanese releases don't have chinese on them unless it was originally chinese.

I was basically just looking for any legal release that had some kind of subtitle I could understand. I'm almost willing to add Spanish to the list (even though my Spanish is fairly sucktastic right now I could probably figure out the basic gist of what's going on), and if my Italian wasn't piss poor I would try that as well because I've gotten the impression that the Italian version was good, too.
The $45 dollar price tag on the Japanese DVDs scare me.

japanese releases don't have english, spanish, chinese, swahili, french, etc…

Well, if you are actually willing to try the Italian ones in Italy we have some OP uncut DVDs. Until now they have released the first five ones (eps 1- 30), audio Japanese and Italian, Italian subs. Area 2.
The video quality could be better but I found the DVDs enough good, though in my opinion they could cost less. Here's the publisher's link
http://www.shinvision.com/1st/index.cfmtheir OP page
http://www.shinvision.com/catalog/vox_serie.cfm?EditionNO=17Click "Club" for emailing them. I don't know if they export the DVDs abroad, but you can try to ask them.
Ah, pay attention: they also release the cut tv version, only Italian audio, at a lower price. The uncut OP DVDs keep the original title "One Piece" and cost 25 Euros each .

This might be a good enough reason for me to try Italian again! I'm guessing 25 euros is cheaper that 4500 yen (no idea what the USD to Euro conversion is or Euro to Yen).
-
I ran the price through a conversion thing and it said about $34.
-
Get ready for really inaccurate English subtitles.
-
The Japanese ones. Not the 4kids ones. My dvd player can play any region so Id like to buy the official released ones from japan. But i cant find them on ebay. I saw them on amazon.jp but i cant order from there. So anyone know where to get them cheapest.
-
I check Yesasia and Play-Asia and the japanese DVDs are around $40
-
You can get the Taiwan ones that are only $12 with about four episodes. I think they're found at Yesasia, though. Find the ones that are about $12 and you should see what I mean. The thing is that the Taiwan DVDs are in Japanese with Chinese subtitles, if you don't mind the frustration of not understanding what the characters are saying.
-
Those are bootlegs. Not the actual DVDs.
-
CDJapan is a good ally indeed.
-
Hello, I am wondering where I would be able to buy Japanese OP DVDs with English subs, and also who to buy from. I have heard that some versions with English subs are either really badly done or at least rather badly translated. Could some body please help me out?
-
The only ones that have english subs are bootleg like from other countries.
-
I'm pretty sure none of the DVDs have English subtitles, so your kind of screwed unless your willing to learn Japanese…
-
Just the HK bootleg subs which support the mafia. They are awful so don't even try it.
Just download K-F and burn your own DVDs, your only option.
-
I found some good subtitled versions of movie 6,7 and 3 of the tv specials.
-
Do they really support the mafia? if so thats so COOOOOOL!
-
Yes, they do. And it is not cool…
Think, money you put into buying anime can go towards the paycheck for some guy who has to whack a guy.
-
man this is really cool thx for link im odering water 7 arc once out
-
They don't really support the Triads but some of those HK bootlegs are supported by Triads
But that's not the reason why people shouldn't buy them the reason is because the subtitles normally have things that are totally weird (although some are reall funny)
If I'm not wrong there's no Japanese Original Dvd's of One Piece with English subtitles and probably won't ever be
So either you get Fan-subs and burned them yourself or you are stick it HK bootlegs
-
I was under the impression that the Japanese DVD's came with English subtitles…. True?
-
i ordered the first. ill confirm the subs once i get it.
-
If they aren't bootleg….. no subs.
-
The bootlegs are worse than the dub. Kill it! Kill it with fire!
-
I was under the impression that the Japanese DVD's came with English subtitles…. True?
Nope, sorry.
