I'll admit, the current sitation DOES lend itself to my first theory on how the fights would go. WIth all the Jyabura-soge-sanji arguing I forgot, but my FIRST thought was that Usopp would take on Lucci WITH luffy.
Chapter 412 "The Chance Has Ended" Discussion

-
I personally just like the idea of the weakest Straw Hat (Usopp) fighting the strongest CP9 (Lucci). More than likely, it won't happen. I wouldn't expect it to. I just hope that this arc has a cool resolution!
-
Well, this arc has brought out an Usopp vs. Sanji argument. It seems that some people think that Jaybura should fight Sanji because Sanji needs a second chance. Others think that Usopp needs to prove to himself that he can fight against a strong opponent. But I think we need to stop saying things like, "It has to be this way, otherwise it will be lame."
Now someone has said in a previous post that Nami could pick their pockets and take their keys for someone else to bring to Robin. I personally like this thought. If she gave them to Sanji, it would be a task for everybody. Franky helps Chopper, Sanji saves Robin and Usopp proves to himself that he is Strawhat worthy.
-
How about:
Sanji fights Jyabura
Sogeking leads an army of 8000 marines and defeats the Buster Call
Just an idea.
-
Whoever brings the keys, I guess we can all agree that it won´t be Zoro. That guy would probably get even lost in a one way tunnel and poor Robin would never get rid of her handcuffs.
-
Yeah! you are totally right! he would get lost and probably arrive where the franky family is  ! that part of him remind me of ryoga hibiki from ranma1/2.

I would like to see Sanji fight Jyabura but Sogeking leading marines and actually defeating the Buster Call… I can never see that happening.
-
The marines all left anyway.
Alright, not a must just an educated speculation here: If given the choice, whom do you think Sanji would save? Robin or Usopp?
-
Alright, not a must just an educated speculation here: If given the choice, whom do you think Sanji would save? Robin or Usopp?
Robin…she is the lady, she has to be save and I'm sure, that Sanji believes that Usopp, a soon to be brave warrior of the sea, can take care of himself. Sanji has already shown, that he respects and understands Usopp.
-
Alright, not a must just an educated speculation here: If given the choice, whom do you think Sanji would save? Robin or Usopp?
Robin of course, unless saving Usopp means saving Robin. It's the same with Usopp. But that doesn't mean Usopp would run off to save Robin, while Zoro and Sanji are in deep peril. But that's all just hypothetical bull. Oda would never give Sanji that choice. Why don't you explain your theory instead.
-
YOW everybody
I want to give my 2 cent on this Ussop-Sanji matterIm aware that some people inhere wants Ussop to become one of the main fighters of the Mugiwara group, just like Yassop certainly is in his crew,
like Auge must be in Blackbeards crew,…
I want that too infact even if I don t really like Ussop but he s the sniper and I like snipers, but the real question is will this be true if he beats Jyabura, in my opinion no one other than CP9 knows the douriki of their members so why would Ussop believe that Jyabura is stronger then Kumadori, and if he beats Jyabura why would he believe that he s back in bussines and that he s worthy of being a Mugiwara????
I think that all what happened in W7 can t be solved by a little fight that will be just too shallow in my opinion.
So if Sanji takes his fight it won t be a dissapointment cause Ussop will have other things to do ,more important things
and if he fights and wins against Jyab that ll be great too cause Im sure we ll see great scene s
so Im finished I hope I didnt start a discussion that was closed haha

How do Usopp fans feel about the fact Oda feels he clearly needs help in order to defeat his enemies? especially in the light of Chopper progressing to one-on-one's? A battle ragged Nami having to do the majority of the work really is a spit in the face of his character development.
I'm hoping that this is gonna be one of those things where only USOPP can beat Jabs, i.e. Sogeking can't, but Usopp can after Nami and Sogeking get taken out.
-
Man, the last page was BADASS, but Califa-chan got KOed in a sexy way, I'm surprised Franky had enough energy to deal with Choppzilla? Anyway I hope Choppzilla's rampage doesn't end, or at least…..we get to see him do more shit in the future >)

Yes and judging by his expression and words at the end of the chapter he won't have the time to save people as he's got some giraffe ass to beat.

I doubt Oda will involve Nami in a second fight so I can see 1 of the following scenarios playing out.
1. Nami leaves with all the keys in hand to deliver them to Robin. Only one problem with this… would Nami willingly abandon Usopp letting him fight Jyabura alone? I could see her doing this with maybe Sanji or Zoro, but not Usopp. Because let's face it. Up to this point he's been regarded as one of the weaker members of the SH crew. Usopp himself even regards himself that way. It would be kind of cold-hearted of her to abandon him in the middle of a fight. It could happen though, if Usopp, in a fit of heroic courage, asks Nami to leave the fight to him (somewhat plausible).
2. Nami gets knocked out, perhaps thrown out of the tower into the sea. Usopp goes into heroic mode.
3. Nami and Usopp both get beat around. Sanji comes in. Sees that Nami is in bad shape. Goes into chivalry mode x 3. Nami and Usopp leave to deliver the keys to Robin.
Can't think of any other scenarios apart from these three.
-
IMO Soge will fight this one mano o mano, but for some reason I think he'll switch with Zoro, ya know 'payback' and all, but still I really like to see Jabura fight first, so I can know what his special moves are.

Whatever the scenario is, I doubt that Nami will fight again, right after her fight with Calipha.
Also, on the Ussop vs. Sanji thing, I am I the only one who thinks that if Ussop beats Jyabura that it won't make him stronger then Sanji? I mean, at best he'll just be in range to compete, Sanji will still have a speed and power edge.
I mean, the great thing about One Piece leaves enough room for speculation as for who's the strongest SH.
-
Also, on the Ussop vs. Sanji think, I am I the only one who thinks that if Ussop beats Jyabura that it won't make him stronger then Sanji?
Oh God, it's already started.
Now all we need is for someone to start an Usopp vs. Zoro argument for good measure.
-

Well…I thought it already did. A few people earlier were suggesting that if Sanji gets beat by Calipha (which shouldn't count!) and Ussop beats Jyabura, then Ussop will be stronger then Sanji. Which I don't think will necessariy be true, some people are losing faith in the cook to quickly.
...or, it's Oda's plan to weaken Sanji since the Alrong arc. I mean, cooks aren't supposed to be stronger then swordsman or sniper, but maybe tie doctors, carpenters, but....stronger then navigators? Wait...that doesn't make sense.
-
Trust in Oda, younglings.

Why is everyone falling apart over who will be stronger etc. etc.?
As if Usopp ever REALLY could be more physically powerful than Sanji. Seriously, can anybody even attempt to say that with a straight face? If that tragedy occurred, not only would Usopp's entire persona change, but so would everyone else's. Oda is always up to surprise and change things around for us, but he's not willing to turn the story he's worked so long on, onto its head.
Sanji will do something amazing and awe-inspiring. That's why he's been kept out this long, building up for that moment of pure Sanji-goodness. Who can say if it will be a fight or not, but it will certainly go to prove that the crew could not survive without him.
Besides….whoever said he would have to fight a member of CP9? There are plenty of others that could be converging on this island at this very moment.
-
Ugh, when will this Usopp v. Sanji/who should fight Jyabura stuff end? (especially with you dudes all with the same IP?) Whatever happens, happens. It's not going to degrade either of the characters, oh ye of little faith in Oda.
-

Until Sanji or Usopp fight Jyabura this stuff will not end. But with God's aka Oda's help, that end will come in two to maximum three weeks and if it is still not clear at that point who fight's who, I will go on a rampage and cause untold suffering and mayhem!
-
Heck, I never thought Nami would take on Eneru. Did you see that one coming? Believe in the wisdom of Oda, dammit!
-
I can't wait for Jyaburas fight to end, on that note. Whether it's Zoro or Ussop or Sanji or Pandaman who beats him, that fights gonna have an awesone finale.
-
…..i wish pandaman would join the crew........
ANYWAY. zoro will own. usopp is not stronger than sanji, i can't believe you can even type that without laughing yer asses off. -_-;
usopp is definetly stronger than i thought, and underestimated, but not stronger than sanji.
i dunno if sanji will have another fight. he DID have the massive pwncakes on the train, but who knows. we'll just have to wait fer 413 to see, and if not then, then 414.

It's very possible Usopp becomes a fighter on par with Sanji while remaining physically weaker. Which actually would be logical given their respective role in the crew and the dangers the Strawhats are about to face after the W7 arc.
Again though, who gives a shit? Seriously, I know manga fans aren't supposed to be the most mature crowd, but this whole "x is stronger than y" reeks of "mine's bigger!" 6th grade-like debates.
-
@MoonDoggie:
As for whether Usopp can take Zoro. It's the old gun vs. swords debate. Near the end when Usopp invents a powerful weapon and improves his sniping, I think he'll be able to take out Zoro no problem. Can't fight what you can see after all.
This debate of guns and swords was settled in a "Hey! Spring of Trivia" episode.

hey guyz i just had a idea who woud win in a fight pirates or ninjas lololol
-
lol if its usssop in teh crew they lose becuz he weak, he cant fight. he just shot eggs at ppl
Seriously, this debate is getting real old. Though I prefer it to "Lucci vs Crocodile (or any other logia)" Just like Greg said, whenever Sanji disappears it always means a cool moment. I've yet to be disappointed. I admit that I don't want to see Jabura beaten with stupid tricks, but with something awesome like when Ussop threw the rum bottle to Chuu and ignited it. I totally can see Ussop winning despite the strength advantage. Which he's never had in any of his serious fights btw. Unless Miss. MerryChristmas was weaker than him.
-
@MoonDoggie:
Sanji may be stronger than Usopp now, but by the end of the series Usopp will be stronger. Sanji started out strong but has been going downhill ever since he was first introduced while Usopp has been going up. Plus their dreams are different. Sanji wants to find all blue while Usopp wants to be a warrior of the sea. Guy who wants to be a strong warrior vs. guy who dreams of fishes all day. No contest. Usopp wins. As for whether Usopp can take Zoro. It's the old gun vs. swords debate. Near the end when Usopp invents a powerful weapon and improves his sniping, I think he'll be able to take out Zoro no problem. Can't fight what you can see after all.
every time posts like this are typed out, starving beaver babies preparing for the finale of the Narnia trilogy die and homeless kids cry :o\
-
To point out who's stronger than who isn't necessary.. coz they all have advantages in their own way.. and they are stronger than in each other in many different ways… so if Ussop defeats Jyabura.. it doesn't mean that ussop>sanji..
-
OMG usoppsan owns everybody sanji is stoopid LOLOLOLOLOL
Seriously, who cares? We should be thinking about what Spandam will do.
-
I don't care who's stronger either. I just want both characters to shine.
Whatever Oda comes up is fine to me.One more day before some info (spoiler) from next chapter comes out. I can't wait!
-
It's very possible Usopp becomes a fighter on par with Sanji while remaining physically weaker.
I know English isn't your first language so I won't make a big deal of it, but fighting on par with someone as a result of their intelligence isn't that same as being physically "stronger" than them.
Could Usopp become a more dangerous enemy than some of the crew? Heeeeeeeeell yeah! I mean with a little more preparation he might have seriously given Luffy a run for his money at W7. But as far as Usopp being able to, I dunno, kick a giant alligator into the air?
I think not.
-
I don't care who fights who or who is stronger or whatever.
Zoro, Sanji and Usopp all go about things in different manners so there's no real reason for one to be stronger than the others.
Zoro usaully searchs out a bigger opponant, takes care of them (with mass bloodloss) then makes sure no one went and got themselves killed.
Sanji, on the other hand, tends to have more than one task in mind. Save Nami/Robin, take out flying ship, Kick that guy's ass etc. He accomplishes lots of smaller goals that are usaully important to to the final goal and then stays by those who need protecting.
Usopp plays the tactics by thinking about what's to come. He can name every scarry thing that might happen and makes sure he has something to counter it/get away from it. He uses this to help others and assit those who need help. Usopp also shows to have more endurance than the others when it come to taking heavier hits and comes up with the winning statergy in the process.
Together they get the job done cause pirate crews do things as a team. They need each other for support and aid.

My favorite prediction idea for Spandam will be cackling to himself about how he'll escape then turns around to see Funkfreid lying against the wall with a single shoeprint dented in his skull, Nami unlocking Robin and one pissed off cook raising his leg. He freaks out, stumbles backwards, and hits some hot coffee. Then Sanji gives the old "How dare you shitty bastard hit a lady who means so much to us." Robin blooms up the flower headlock and Sanji kicks him to sky followed by the most pleasing Clutch ever to be done.--
Just my spin on things, Ignore or whatever, I've had a long day, Go Nami and praise be to God Oda. Thank You. -

I thought by "stronger" we were talking about the ability one has to defeat powerful enemies, not just physical power. For instance in these fan made rankings I've read here Robin was always ranked higher than Usopp despite being physically weaker. No need to nitpick anyway.

Nobody expects Usopp to be "strong" as in having the same power as Sanji, Luffy and Zoro. He is a Sniper, he isn't even supposed to be (and I doubt that his father is physically on par with Shanks, Ben or Lou). What I think Usopp fans want (or at least what I as an Usopp fan want) is that Usopp at some point just manages to be as much a threat to the enemy as someone like Sanji. (Or in some situations even more so…depending on the target and of course the distance). It's like, yeah, strengthwise Luffy is Superman, Zoro is Hulk and Sanji is the Juggernaut (bitch), and everyone would be happy, if Oda just let Usopp be Batman!
-

Shame their arn't more ship battles in One Piece. Because in those circumstances Ussop suddenly becomes one of the very best Strawhats to have fight.
-
I'm thinking there WILL be more ship battles in the future. It would be great if Franky builds a ship with a cool control panel with lots of cannons. >D
-
is that Usopp at some point just manages to be as much a threat to the enemy as someone like Sanji.
Well, he already is. I mean yeah he has his own special way about it but considering the villains he's taken down plus having the balls to fight his own Captain after seeing what he was capable of, that shows just as much conviction as any member of the crew.
-

I loved how Usopp blew up two Marine ships…
USOPP: Holy god. I mean, yeah! I meant to do that.
I hope he gets to blast pursuing BC ships. That would be even cooler than fighting Jabura. -

Franky+ship with lots of cannons+Usopp=total destruction
I really hope we will see that. -
YES. an awesome cannon-loaded ship, but with the going merry front piece on it, so luffy can keep his seat. franky and sanji'll swim down and grab it from the dpths of the ocean…..
-
Alright, in the midst of all this "Who Is stronger…(well, alright CRAP, is what it is) let me put foreward a theory for you:
In any given fight, any character could, if absolutely necessary, rise to the occasion and win. This is Oda's universe. Each one has different strengths. I hold that, within the SH's, NOBODY is stronger than ANYBODY. They will have, and win or lose, the fights Oda hands out. No individual battle has ANY BEARING on who's tougher than whom.
Just a thought.
