Everyone talks about his long arms so i guess this could be his Thomas Hearns type of fight. Or some variation of that, since he just used that set up for another fight. Reach, power and switch hitting are confirmed, and since he is known to have luck it doesn't feel like he'll be someone who is too good defensively. And his long arms means he shouldn't be too good at fighting in the pocket. Maybe a high volume swarmer if he isn't a long range boxer puncher who keeps his distance and snipes at you. But i'm leaning toward my first guess
Hajime no Ippo

You gotta feel sorry for the refs in any of Takamura's fights:
https://mangasee123.com/read-online/Hajime-No-Ippo-chapter-1335.htmlWhile the chapter shows us that Dragon is no pushover, the fact that he keeps referring to Lady Luck makes me wonder if this over-dependence will be his downfall.
And kudos to Morikawa for the shoutout to Marvin Hagler (RIP).
-
For real, reffing a fight like this means constantly throwing yourself between two starving tigers charging for a carcass.
-
More shoutouts to Marvin Hagler!

An entire chapter just spent teasing "something's wrong!"
https://mangasee123.com/read-online/Hajime-No-Ippo-chapter-1337.htmlSeriously, Morikawa, you didn't need to use a whole chapter for that.
-
And here I thought the "something wrong" was going to be his eye again:
https://mangasee123.com/read-online/Hajime-No-Ippo-chapter-1338.html -
Way to treat something as surprise reveal that was clear since the Hawk match
-
So this is basically Takamura's peak condition at the moment… neat!
I'm assuming that he'll make use of this extra energy by saving the very last of it for a victory-earning burst at the very end of the match,
after being given one hell of a runaround by the lucky one. -
I always thought he was supposed to be a natural heavy weight (wasn't he always going for 6 weight classes from day 1?). So for this to be his "peak" makes me wonder if he's going to get slow going even higher.
-

That's how I remember it too. Like when he's in his natural heavyweight class he can even take down a bear bare handed. Seriously don't get the surprise reveal. Perhaps the aithor thinks that no longtime fans remain and thus is catering to the new readers with this.
-
I don't really get why they got a bad feeling from Tak being in too good shape. Are they worried that he'll overextert himself or leave himself open or something?
-
I think it may just be the concept of something feeling "off" compared to the norm.
It's been so long since Takamura wasn't going through hell with his weight, so they became out of touch with how it feels to watch him perform at 100%. -
Still, as a reader I feel a bit cheated that all this teasing only came down to "he is too strong", especially after the pressure and hype we had from Mr Lucky. What then ? Does Tak punch the guy into oblivion same as he did in his previous match and it was all for nothing ?
-

I mean its just 1-2 chapters to tell us he is at peak condition or near. I wouldnt call it excessive teasing. Now that we know is probably when the match get good.

I rather think that it's only going to be thanks to the luck factor that this will be an even fight. Kinda like a "any other fighter would have lost already" scenario. Still doesn't mean that it's a lame reveal. You don't always need cliffhangers if there's nothing worthy of such a treatment.
-

It is, but combined with the shenanigans about opponent's luck and the car accident I feel like I've been mislead a while. Nonetheless for a result that could have been attained with a single panel of someone remarking Takamura is in top shape. It's unnecessary drama, I can't say I like it ; as Ivotas put it, 2 chapters and a cliffhanger just for this is too much for my taste.
(although, the "luck makes the fight even" angle could be interesting and in retrospect justify all the luck stuff. So, not a lost cause)
-
That's probably it. The luck factor.
They feel like something's wrong because Takamura should have cleaned this guy's clock already XDSo the bad feeling is simply because the match is still going!
-
Milking Takamura being at his peak for 2 chapters instead of 1 is fine I think. There's always a feeling out each other portion to establish the dynamic the match is gonna be and while it could have been done in one chapter instead of 2 it isnt egrigeous I think.
The eye thing that never came back. Now that was unnecesary drama.
-
Morikawa does an actually pretty good anatomy drawing:
https://mangasee123.com/read-online/Hajime-No-Ippo-chapter-1339.htmlAnd dammit Miyata does everything have to just be "research" to you?
-
New chapter:
https://hni-scantrad.com/lel/read/hajime-no-ippo/en-us/132/1340/page/1! And again they have to go on about how Takamura has been set free of the shackles that bound him down. The only way how I see this all working out in the end is that at some point Takamura will be starting to mess up here and there a little because he so far isn't used to use his overflowing power in a real match. That might also somehow play into the luck factor.
-
Could be a set up for a counter situation where he eats a full power rebound. His extra strength coming back to bite him y'know
-
That's the only thing I can think might happen. Or hell, you could say that Dragon's luck payed off for him here by saving him from getting slugged. Either way, this whole "Takamura is invincible!" thing is getting too strung out.
-
Agreed, it's being laid out too heavily and his repeated grin seems like someone who may eventually lose their cool. In fact I thought the counter was coming in those final pages, but we got the gong instead.
-
LMAO wow
I forgot about the luck factor at first,
but then came that perfect timing for the bell. -
Takamura being Takamura:

LMFAO
With an ILLUSTRATION too! -
Jesus Christ just get on with it. This has to be the worst arc in the manga so far. The build up with Ippos Shenanigans was the least fun this series has ever been (and it DOES have some good humor actually) and this fight while starring good is just dragging things on. I really wish we'd be still stuck with the Sendo vs Alf fight. That shit was legit and only was over too quickly.
Seriously, it's really about time to bring Ippo back as a boxer. At least his inbring struggles were always interesting. Enough of the current nonesense already! -

Laughs in Gedo & Woli.
-
Laughs in Gedo & Woli.
Low points in Ippo fights and still more interesting than this crap I think. It literally is not moving forward. Seriously, if Takamura us using his chest as drums one more time I'll be calling him Gorimura from there an (which now that I tgink about it should be his name from the get go)
-
Pray for the life of that ref after the match:
https://mangasee123.com/read-online/Hajime-No-Ippo-chapter-1342.html -
RIP ref. Your boldness will be remembered.
-
I feel threatening a referee is a bad idea.
Also Takamura is really dominating that match
-
He didn't lift a fist against the ref so for now I'm going to assume he's fine.
And while he's dominating the match, I'm waiting for it to bite him in the ass, since they wouldn't hype up Dragon this much for the match to be so boring.
-
I would actually consider the referee thinking this was countworthy part of Dragon's luck.
-
I thought Takamura gonna have trouble standing up because of his ankle injury. That's one little pesky detail from before that keeps diverting my expectations.
-
Honestly, the whole chapter feels like an unnecessary fuss. If really the blow only grazed Takamura, all he had to do was stand up the moment the referee started counting. That's all on him for staying down too long past the initial surprise. And if it did inflict damage, it would have been nice to, like, tell the reader ?
I enjoyed the previous Takamura fight, but this one's really not memorable so far, be it all the shenanigans beforehand or the actual match. None of it is too bad in itself, but it's like Morikawa is being super heavy-handed and repeats any tiny detail 2 or 3 times. The good/bad luck, what's wrong with Takamura, Takamura's strength overload…Meh. -
Okay, NOW Dragon's luck is making it's appearance:
[https://mangasee123.com/read-online/Hajime-No-Ippo-chapter-1343.htmlW](https://mangasee123.com/read-online/Hajime-No-Ippo-chapter-1343.html)ell, both his luck and his skill.
-
This is definitely the reason to keep the fight “interesting” with how dominant Takimura is. No chance he loses here, and I’m not really a fan of how the author makes a crazy excuse to make each title match interesting.
-
I finally finished the sendo vs Gonzales fight. I feel that fight was pretty bs on the Sendo side of things. He just sort of win on being super strong. Gonzales pretty screw him on every category and dished a decent amount of hits and counter but somehow he won anyway. Reminds me when Itagaki wins because he's super fast and doesnt have to learn lessions or really adapt.
-
At the end of the day, Takamura is still a dumbass.
https://mangasee123.com/read-online/Hajime-No-Ippo-chapter-1344.html -
Didn't the last chapter end with the same words? Just show that trump card already.
Also if Takamura doesn't learn to protect his blind spot from now on then it'll only get tougher in the future where the heigher weight classes have the real heavy hitters. Heck, at this rate he might end up getting punch drunk and not Ippo.
-
Takamura's only had a few fights were he got really walloped. All of Ippo's fights had him get beat up.
-
That's what would make it ironic. Also does one only get punch drunk after taking punches on a regular basis over a long time or can a few heavy hits do the same? Because if the latter is possible then this could happen with Takamura on the higher weight classes. Though I doubt that thats where Morikawa wants to take the character.

I suppose it depends on where the hits land. And way back Morikawa teased us with an implication that something was wrong with Takamura's eye (a result of being hit), so although it hasn't come up since then, there's always a possibility that it will later.
-
Takamura's only had a few fights were he got really walloped. All of Ippo's fights had him get beat up.
Except the one where he debuted the Dempsey Roll.
-
Wasn't there also a match where Ippo got an almost perfect first round KO,
which was meant to be a "holy shit, look at how much I improved during that recent training arc" kind of moment? It wasn't the Dempsey Roll match, since that one went into the second round.
-

There's a guy he destroyed in 32 seconds when Takamura was gonna fight Hawks.
Other match Ippo also dominated Karasawa. The guy Itagaki fought later. And was like a pretty clean fight for him and some time of come back I think. But that went to the second round.
-
Don't forget the OPKO fight against the guy that thought it was a good strategy to insult the coach.
-

That's probably the one.

That's probably the one.
Takamura was stressing a bit about Hawks and who would win. And to boost him Ippo proposed a deal. He wins in one round and he becomes world champion.
