Hey, guys! Remember these?
This is one of those other songs 4Kids created for One Piece, "You Can't Turn the Tide". I'm not sure why the maker of this AMV decided to use Zatch Bell… But that's not the point.
And here's the other one, "Be a Pirate". The creator for this one used "We Are" footage it seems.
Still… I wonder why 4Kids even made these. I mean... They got full versions, but they were only used for quick commertials on 4Kidstv...
Lol! That "Be a Pirate" song sounds like the type of song they'd make fun of on South Park. That reminds me that some people mentioned the cooking song in Sanji's montage in his Lougetown episode was like the "You need a montage!!" thing in Team America, and a South Park episode.
A bit OT, but happy birthday Rappin' Chopper! I'll never forget how much coffee I drank that day which lead to me writing that.
Perhaps one of those will replace the One Piece rap when they move past Alabasta.
I mean adding the "Chopper's docterin' " line managed to fit, but once Robin is in the crew I can't think of too many ways they can stretch that rap out much more. Its already been screwed around with so much, they just need to let it die and move on to their next crappy theme song.
Pokemon got a new theme song for each season, and since One Piece is the only series 4kids has that doesn't have a definate ending, I could see them changing the theme song eventually.
One Piece belongs on Toonami, it may have some pretty mature parts but overall its still something for kids-teens and that's the Toonami audience.
Naruto has proven that they can get away with quite a bit on Toonami. And Naruto has had VERY FEW cuts and edits so far. Not to mention Justice League Unlimited has goteen away with TONS, and before IGPX left the lineup it did quite a bit with the mature content, hell even Bobobo manages to get in the mature stuff every now and again.
This is whY I'm hoping soooooooo much that 4kids will see what they can get away with on Toonami and will stop editing One Piece so damn much when they dub their 3rd season.
Not only that, BUT it doesn't fit in with the rest of the Adult Swim lineup. Nor does it appeal to the Adult Swim audience. Case Closed got put on Adult Swim and failed miserably. Hopefully Crayon Shinchan's potty humor will be enough for it to find its place there.
how long was Case Closed even on Adult Swim? I remember one of my buddies talking aboot the series, he was trying to get me to download it for him, and I told him to just purchase the dvd's from bestbuy and etc.
Sorry went off topic, those two themes were ok I guess. Neither theme really just sounded right for one piece though.
The One Piece rap may be horrible, but it captures the viewer's attention that's for sure.
The Be A Pirate song seemed really slow, it wouldn't get my attention at all. And it doesn't capture the spirit and energy of One Piece at all. Even the One Piece rap manages to do that.
Case Closed lasted 50 episodes before Adult Swim said they wanted no more due to really bad ratings. Sucks too because the series is so big in Japan and has been around so long. Just another case of a series' potential in America being lost due to bad marketing.
Luckily for everyone its still getting released on DVDs as well as in manga form.
Definitely captured my attention. So horrible, that when I first watched One Piece, I turned off the TV and almost barfed. I even wondered if One Piece was even the great show that people had told me about.
lol today my friend (who is a dubbie) asked me if I watched One-piece. I replied "Hell yeah!" and so he asked what happened last episode (to test me) and I said "Luffy owns Blueno with Gear 2" and he was like "what?"
Yeah, I think possibly the same thing might have happened to One Piece on Adult Swim as Detective Conan…But I'm not sure. I definately think One Piece is a more exciting and entertaining show. I liked watching Case Closed, but I got tired of it eventually, it started seeming repetitious. After a while I didn't want to try to figure out the mystery anymore.
Also, interestingly enough, no kids I have ever talked to even seem to know One Piece, but I mention it around adults and older teens, co-workers and stuff, and they all know it and watch it on Toonami o_O;
I just talked to a girl of about 20 that I hadn't seen for a long time that I had given a bunch of episodes up through Arlong Park. She liked the dub, so I gave her fansubs. For the longest time, she lagged on watching the episodes, she thought the story was moving really slow. But I just saw her tonight and she actually got through most of them and was really starting to like it once it got past those older episodes that some people seem to have trouble with.
You're on to something, guys. I think I see the reason why 4Kids replaced the English "We Are!" with the "Gott'a Go" rap song. It was to catch the person's attention who's been skimming through the channels to see what's on.
It's actually not "Gotta Go" but "Yah Yo".
I always thought it was more "gai-yoh" sounding.
its just a marketing strategy that 4kids will use. Since they used a cut version for TV, the UNCUT version that they are gonna sell in DVD (maybe) may skyrocket their sales. A EVIL PLAN! ITS A CONSPIRACY I SAY! A CONSPIRACY!
Meh, the rap's sopposed to be replacating pirate chants or somethin'.
EDIT: Lol. If only that was true, Dazze.
I could've sworn it was "Gotta Go". Ah well…
And, just to state where I stand, I rather love the rap. (yes, love) It's quite catchy, if you ask me.
Do you mean the "Gotta go, uh-oh" part? That must be what you were talking about!
Btw, wow, thanks Roman :p
the UNCUT One piece dvd commercial will be like this:
ON SALE IN WINTER! ONE PIECE UNCUT! Includes NEVER BEFORE SEEN EPISODES! VOICE ACTORS AT THEIR BEST! And Original English translated Opening songs and ending songs! Sanji's lillipop you ask? NO NO! Super squirters? NO NO! Poisonous suction cups?! HELL NO! Buy now! ONE PIECE UNCUT! Only $25+tax! Buy ONE PIECE UNCUT! can be located at your local video store. rated T. ONE PIECE UNCUT! (annoying commercial voice that keeps saying ONE PIECE UNCUT!) hahahhaha! too much time to waste….
Yeah, no problem.
It's funny though… There was a earlier version of the dub rap that had slightly diffrent lyrics. Actually, it's the one used for "Grand Battle".
Like:
Instead of saying "I'll be King of the Pirates, I'm gonna be king!" it says "I'll be king! I'll -- I'll be Pirate King!"
And some other lines...
Instead of saying "His name's Zolo, he's just like a samurai" it says "His name's Zolo, he's a samurai".
And, instead of saying "And the L-A-D-Y, Nami's not shy!" it says "And the L-A-D-Y, Nami the sly!"
Yeah, it's a good thing they changed the line about Zoro, because he truly is NOT A SAMURAI. XD Nor is he really "just like" one either. Stupid 4kids. "He has swords…he's honorable...that means he's a samurai, right? Cuz he's not a ninja, cuz he's not wearing black." :getlost:
That rap has been changed lyrically soo many times, let's just move onto a new song.If I hear "Chopper's docterin' and Robin's archaeology-in….....yah yo! yah yooo" I'll just die.
This is late, but hah, wow, the voices and acting in that Signapore dub make it really hard to believe it’s a real dub! I didn’t know Signapore dubs are in English…?
The rap is really stale now, shows how much effort they put into OP compared to things like Pokemon…
Raise your hand if you think they'll either change the rap, or do a different theme song for Grand Adventure.
Raises Hand

You mean the ones pre-Baratie/Arlong? Yeah, honestly I think those episodes do kinda drag on, It was the Baraite arc that sealed the deal for me.
It's kinda funny though, I think 4kids was doing [somewhat] OK with the dub before they got to Arlong. They f'ed up the story at the point where it gets really good.
Good news. I've learned to accept Zolo.
Trace, Chaser, and Nebra on the other hand I don't accept and never will accept as "real names"
I won't accept Zoro's dub name if it was something like "Zoto" or "Zomo." You get me?
Nah, It'd be Toonami through and through. just with a few minor edits.
As for Smoker's line….I could think of a few...
"Tell 'em to eat crap!"
"Tell 'em to eat dirt!"
"Tell 'em to shove it!"
"Tell 'em to cram it!"
"Tell 'em to shut up!"
"Tell 'em to kiss my butt!"
"Tell 'em to blow it out their butts!"
"Tell 'em to....to...PUT A DICK IN IT!" shot
You have a point. I'd say toonami as well.
Man, those other theme songs that 4Kids made suck. I actually think I like the rap better than those songs. I don't get why they have to make sucky One Piece theme songs when thay have a perfectley good English We Are!. It's probably because they know that people actually like the English We Are!.

lol i know what u mean…30 eps of cases that got nothing to do with the story then 1 ep of case involving kaitou kid or black organization :D
u should dl it from kaizoufansub, they only sub the exciting eps that is part of the story with black organization or kaitou kid
lol i cant wait to see of what bellamy will become XD
ill cry/laugh if they give usopp's va for him XD
…wow. In GB USA I beat the Dave...er I mean Usopp Pirates mini games and got Sanji as the announcer.
I guess this is a feature I will never use. Id rather hear Sean Schemmmle in his Goku voice then Moo.
Bellamy will probably sound like that Purple annoying imp from the first Digimon series. They kinda have the same laugh
lol i cant wait to see of what bellamy will become XD
ill cry/laugh if they give usopp's va for him XD
I think they'll likely give him the voice of Weevil from YGO.
Bellamy: Suddenly he knows Luffy's name Yo Luffy, you can't be a dreamer! WA HA HA HA!!!
Luffy: O RLY? Gum … Gum ... oh yeah. I can't hurt anyone.
How 4Kids will handle Luffy smashing into the wood floor:
Bellamy: Hey kid, howl do you do? Shakes hands with Luffy
Luffy: Hi. You seem like a nice guy. HO HO HO HOOOOI!!! Whoa … whoa ... * Falls and crashes into the wood flooring*
Stupid reruns….
not like I watched it anyway...but still.
Cool #6 (is that right?) av/sig, CW.
Anyways, not watching the dub makes me feel better than watching it. Because …
1. I look stupid watching it, even for comparison.
2. The dub voices get stuck in my head while reading the manga.
3. Keeping up with the dub eps is torture.

I agree. I always feel really wrong watching the dub, like I'm watching something I shouldn't be caught watching. And I hate it when I start getting the dub voices in my head. It's been so long since I've seen it now, it almost feels like the dub was some kind of bad dream. Like the dream I had about the Transformers movie being really wierd and cheesy. Of course, it still could be…but not this bad. XD I had a lot of dreams like that about the Lord of the Rings movies.

I absolutely hate #2. I've rarely heard Sanji's sub voice, so when I read the manga…pop there it is...and it's so horrible you can't forget it.
And my set is #66, Barry the Chopper.

Doubt that, same crap voices, and besides, on the Shaman King and Yu-Gi-Oh DVD's they all sound tired.
But the Shaman King and Yu-Gi-Oh DVDs weren't honest attempts. If anything, they were likely just tools of 4Kids to prove that uncuts didn't do well. In spite of sales (which were pretty good, even with a lack of advertisement, effort, and proper subtitles), they probably just pulled them to say "SEE! LOOK! UNCUTS DON'T SELL WELL, WE HAD TO PULL THEM".
The fact that they're willing to take their efforts to such extents for their edited DVDs (before edited Yu-Gi-Oh! was canceled on DVD, they had 8 episode DVDs for 10 dollars, and now Sonic X is being released in 13 episode season sets for 15 dollars - even One Piece, which used to be only 3 episodes to a DVD, is getting its episode count jacked up to 5) only seems to prove this. It's almost as if they want to prove that they're right, and when they find out otherwise, they ruin it for everyone. I don't think any company would really do things out of spite, but in 4Kids' case, I wonder…
Damn, I was going to buy the uncut Yu-Gi-Oh too.
I hate when I'm reading the manga and I'm hearing the dub voices in my head. It gets really anoying.
The only dub voices I hear while reading the manga are Luffy and Sanji's, because they're so…dominant.
Other than those, I hear an English version of the Japanese voice.

#2 is probably one of the big reasons why I don't watch the dub, or turn the sound off when I'm watching. I got a good voice cast in mind whenever I read, don't need it spoiled…
Yeah the only time is when i have the dub voices in my head is when I am thinking of the dub or after watching it and trying to read one piece

> Yeah, I always turn off the voluma or change the channel when the rap is on, because my parents or sister might hear. >> <_< And cringe when I hear Sanji or Usopp… Or a bad pun/joke.
Bellamy will probably sound like that Purple annoying imp from the first Digimon series. They kinda have the same laugh
Impmon? XD I think that's too young. Hopefully more like Beelzebumon…

Mr. Bushido? >_>
Mr. Bushido? >_>
Mr. Bushido was a mocking term coined in by Vivi back when she was Ms. Wednesday. The name stuck. That is all.
For some reason, I see them giving Bellamy, Jonouchi's (Joey) English voice. I dunno, it just sounds like something that they would do.
at the rate 4crapkids is dubbing One Piece….....it's quickly catching up with the Japanese version.........all they need to do is cut another 30 episodes or 40 episodes.....skip G8, cut Skypiea to a bare minimum and you get a shorten Davy Back Fight.........
@yokaiforte:

4kids probably got "samurai" from that, though…
My 4kids signature finally validated.
It only took about three weeks.
4kids probably got "samurai" from that, though…
Actually, I think it's more than likely that they got it from stereotyping. "Japanese swords? Honor code? He's gotta be like a samurai." The nickname may have been part of that, but I think it's more stereotyping.
Wow, that's a lot of stereotyping… Even I can't see...
Well, yeah. But it only takes a little for 4Kids to stereotype. Look at Usopp for example.
"Guy who runs away from battles? Ridiculous long nose? He's gotta be some scaredy cat comic relief"
Or Nami's Valley Girl style of voice acting at the beginning.
Or Robin's hat portraying her as a texan.
Or Wapol being Russian
The slightest thing that makes a character look a certain way is when 4Kids makes a stereotype. And there's others too naturally.
