Okay, so it's not a direct sequel, but rather a "filling in" story talking about the experiences Bambi had with his father right after losing his mother.
So at least it's not a direct sequel but . . . . . arrrrrggghhh . . . . . .
I saw the preview. I dunno, I actually have faith for this one. =) I guess only time will tell.
 
isn't the story of bambi II something like:
"humans killed his parents, now bambi's mad. after 10 years of intensive training with the old kung fu master of the wood, he's gonna take his revenge."

I saw this on my Bambi DVD, and while I'm against the idea of a Bambi 2 generally, I'm not really bothered by the fact that it takes place in between Bambi's mother's death, and the next springtime. I always that the cut in between those two scenes was abrupt and left the story a bit underdeveloped (I know it's a kids movie, but…). The thing is, it would have been better if that "missing story" was put in back in 1942.
I just saw the preview and WTF is that MUSIC? =__= It's even worse than that dorky song from Chicken Little. The other little deer dude is cute though.
I have a small spark of hope for this because of where they chose to set it, but from what that preview shows it looks like they're just copying a bunch of the iconic scenes from the original. And yet none of them have quite the same effect as the original did. (although Thumper's sisters are adorable) The animation looks decent, but again, nowhere near the artistic merit of the original. That and Bambi isn't quite like Bambi, too . . . . "modern kid", which I guess is what they were going for, but that's not Bambi!
And the thing that REALLY pisses me off about this preview? The "available for only 70 days" title at the begining and end. WTF Disney? Bad enough you're making a sequel you have the balls to actually pressure kids into wanting it?
Music could be worse, but I still fondly remember the "spring shower" song.

My thoughts exactly. I didn't care if they made a sequel. Its stupid!!!! But this marketing ploy is despicable. It bad enough, they put movies "in the vault" never to be seen again (until they need to make more money), and their DVDs forces you to sit through their promos without skipping, but now this. Guh!!!
I just kind of saw Bambi yesterday, or was it at thursday… but Bambi II isn't something I would even have great expectations to the begin with.
I was expecting them to pull some crap off like the "Bambi 2002" Saturday Night Live sketch that Taboo sent. But still, when I saw the preview, I thought "You've gotta be kidding me!".
I always said that the end of Disney (or the UTTER destruction of it) would be when they made sequels to Bambi and Snow White.
Well done Disney, you're halfway up the road to the complete detereoration of your self respect.
