Ghosts of Tsushima & Dragon's Crown if it looks like I'm multitasking (poorly) that's because I'am.

I play Hearthstone and World of Warcraft, and I look forward to the Shadowlands release. I have been playing WoW since 2011. In addition, he played The Witcher, Assassin's Creed, Need for Speed (almost all parts). Now there is little time for games. I try not to follow the news, so as not to be upset that there is no time to complete.
-
Been playing Yooka-Laylee: The Impossible Lair.
So basically this is just them doing a Donkey Kong Country style platformer (as opposed to the Banjo-Kazooie style 3D platformer of the first game), which is all well and good, but…man this platforming is just not fun. I actually like the overworld puzzle-solving stuff better. I don't know if that says more about me or the game, but every time I get to a new platforming level I'm like "Ugh, this shit again."
I can't even really put my finger on why the platforming stages are such a chore. I guess because they're not particularly fun or inspired and the controls are really stiff and constricting.
-
Started Darkest Dungeon.
Oh boy, this aims to be one for the "favourite" shelf. The design is very appealing to me as well as the humour. But damn, sometimes the game is harsh. I'm playing on the easiest difficulty (as per the game's advice), and on one mission, my Vestal suffered two heart attacks in succession and died. On an apprentice level mission.
My favourite class so far is the Leper. The design is pretty cool, and I can't get enough of his "come at me" stance whenever he's attacked. Especially with area attacks when the whole group is hit, everyone else is cowering or blocking, and he's just standing there, arms to each side.

Finally got to playing Crash 4: It’s About Time. Generally a really good game that maintains a lot of the charm of the originals. Good lord does it get hard if you try to go about unlocking stuff, or god forbid 100%-ing it though. They really took the challenge of the originals to the next level with this one, with some questionable results that can make the game more rage-inducing than fun and challenging imo.
-
Playing Kingdom Hearts.
How did this game launch a franchise?
-
I think playing Doom 3 is starting to make me go mad and not in the insane in the membrane kinda mad.

Pretty much what happened to me is that I slowly began justifying to myself that I don't need to do 100%, particularly when they start doing stuff like hiding boxes super high above other boxes in a way that you're screwed if you accidentally break a box below. And then you have that thing where some of the Tawna/Dingodile/Cortex stages last like 5 minutes before tossing you back into the same level you just did, but with more boxes lol
It makes it rewarding to get all things for a level, but they really did go a bit far with the rude boxes. I'm probably going to settle with getting all costumes and doing some of the relics up until it stops being fun.

I’m convinced the game devs were being somewhat sadistic with this one. It would potentially take me hours to find some of these boxes with how ridiculously well they were hidden without looking up a guide.
Having half the Dingodile/Tawna/Cortex stages be slightly remixed stages you’ve already done in the latter part was a weird and kind of lazy idea in my opinion too.
I pretty much did a vanilla clear while unlocking some of my favorite costumes and I’ll probably leave it at that.

Well with my Xbox Game Pass Sub. Winding Down I decided to try out a a handful of games some old some new.
Battlefield 3
- I thought this was decent but it’s easy to see when and where Dice decided they were going to start using the BF games as veiled tutorials for the game’s multiplayer though unlike 1 the story here was a mess as opposed to feeling too brief it also feels too much like the writers looked at the first two MW games and decided to role it’s story into one game, I also like how for no reason the game starts with a flashforward that it then makes you replay up to the cut off point.
Battlefield 4
- Story was a bit more better here but also a mess as it’s supposed to be a sequel to the last game set pieces are also better but the game abuses Murphy’s Law a bit too much with those.
Gears Tactics
- XCOM in the Gears Universe I’ve only played up to the 4th Chapter of Act 5 but this is a decent game.
Katana Zero
- Easily the best game out of the four good gameplay, crazy story, soundtrack good enough that I had to track it down since of course I can’t get much out of via my TV speakers. After finishing it I found out that some DLC for the game is apparently supposed to be coming out…..which was mentioned before the pandemic which as of this writing hasn’t dropped so now I’m left wanting more.

Been playing A Hat in Time.
On the one hand, I think there are some really imaginative locations and concepts in this game, but on the other hand…man, this game really needed to be playtested a few more times.
-
Playing The Messenger now and, holy shit, I instantly love this. Some of the enjoyable platforming I've ever experienced.
-
I played Half Life Alyx and it was so much better than I was expecting. I've never been too much into VR but this game at least does a good job of including everything that should make someone come around to VR. Stuff like the way you turn takes getting used to but it looks so cool, especially with the amount of environmental interaction the game has.
-
Been playing Crash Bandicoot 4 and…man, I'm sorry, but this game is fucking infuriating.
I played the first Crash Bandicoot as a kid (never played 2 or 3) and I don't remember the momentum of the characters being so janky or the depth perception, at times, being nonexistent. I'm generally a completionist, but I don't know if I'll be able to bring myself to collect all the gems in this game, to say nothing of the N. Verted World and Time Trial shit.

I started playing A Hat in Time a few days ago as I was craving 3D platformers/collect-a-tons because I kept watching a lot of Banjo-Kazooie stuff. The game is really fun so far, and using a guide so I don't miss anything xD

I don't know whose bright idea the security camera mechanic in SS2 was. I'm pretty sure there's a limited number of non-respawning enemies in each area but triggering a security camera makes them all rush you for (maybe) easy killing. Honestly not enjoying this game as much as Thief or Deus Ex, but it's still kind of fun. I also am not sure I understand the stat system. I did a background thing at the beginning to get a point in research but still can't research anything right away, so I'm not sure what those background points were for.
-
Upgraded back to the Ultimate Game Pass on my Xbox after a couple months and downloaded Celeste, Carrion and Control.
Decided to give Carrion a go right away since I heard some good stuff about it and so far it's pretty enjoyable. Neat style and interesting metroidvania-esque gameplay despite the controls feeling somewhat wobbly in some situations.

I've been playing a lot of Super Mario Bros 35 lately and I'm finally down to one last uncompleted level (which is 8-4 of course).
If you don't mind grinding and like Mario this game is almost perfect.
I really hope they add the Lost Levels at some point, and make a bunch of sequels for Mario Bros 2 USA, Mario Bros 3, Mario World, all the Mario Land and Wario Land games etc… -

I think they added that to counter the fact that once the game boils down to just a few really skilled players it can take forever to end.
I remember early on there were a bunch of times when a single game would last up to 45 minutes and it just got really tedious.
Now a typical game is about ten or fifteen minutes long. -
Considering how people like dumping Lakitus,Hammer Bros., and occasionally Bowsers at the worst possible times seems kinda redundant.

After having completed all 3 Dark Souls games for the second time, I've decided to finally try and play something else.
So I picked up Kingdoms of Amalur, and within half an hour, I just couldn't bear the button mashing nature of combat. I felt too bored to continue. Kind of the same thing with Skyrim a few months ago. I have more hours in those games than I'm willing to admit, yet nowadays, I can't seem to get much enjoyment out of them.
This might sound obnoxious and, heaven forbid, elitist, but after Dark Souls, a lot of my old favourite games feel much emptier than before. The Soulsborne game are far from perfection (especially DS2 which can annoy me to no end sometimes), but they managed to form a sort of bond with me that made me appreciate and treasure them even after multiple playthroughs and rough patches. Sort of like with the old Thief games, something clicked in me while playing them that made me nothing short of infatuated, and maybe a bit obsessed. I could talk hours on end about my experiences with these games, which is kind of hard since non of my friends really played Thief and those who played Dark Souls haven't really got so deep into the lore or the whole "experience" thing.
After Amalur, I decided to go in a different direction, and finally started Styx: Master of Shadows. I've been meaning to play it and I bought it on sale recently, so the time was right. My first impressions are mixed with more good than bad. I like the colorful graphics and the controls are pretty smooth. Having an ugly goblin protagonist is a nice change of pace. The amber clone mechanic feels wonky and uninteresting, but we'll see how it goes. The story seems exciting enough, but I'm not a fan of so many cutscenes in the first half an hour of the game.
The thing I appreciate the most is being able to turn off quest-markers and other such U.I. More games should implement that. Dishonored did the same, although with much more customizing options than Styx, and I feel that's a nice way of making sure every player gets the optimal experience. People like me can get rid of those pesky markers, while others can still enjoy their benefits. Styx stops halfway though, because it can't seem to trust me on remembering which button uses the equipped items or opens doors.
Of course, it being a game with a "master thief", I cannot avoid comparing it to Thief, even if the two games play differently (not the least because of the perspective change). I miss the light gem mechanic. Even if it wasn't perfect, it worked pretty well 98% of the time and made you feel much more in control. In Styx, I found myself thinking I was well-hidden, but a guard noticed me anyway and a hilariously clumsy chase ensued.
Having disabled the quest markers, I am free to explore the map by myself, yet I find it disappointing, that aside from shiny collectible coins and some dialogue here and there, there's not much to see. So many papers and letters on tables I can't peek into, haha.Oh well, we'll see how it goes.
Meanwhile, I'll also start replaying VA-11 Hall-A. Time to mix drinks and change lives~

Well shit how does that happen?

The search for the three batteries in chapter 7 of Half Life Alyx is the absolute best segment of the game for showing off the VR tech imo. It's also cool seeing some puzzles/segment from the first two games repeated with slight changes to better fit what the game is going for. I'm kind of glad they weren't shy about changing how you fight certain enemies since it gives the game more variety but often these kinds of prequels with a bunch of new stuff feel kind of off.
-
Dark Souls 1 Remastered i finally completed after starting it around christmas.
That game made me play the DLC in NG+, because i thought it was a good idea sparing it as a last challenge.
Didn´t know another dickmove the game pulled was to start the game immediately over on a harder difficulty after beating the final boss.
Artorias and Kalameet were sure though grinds, thought. -
Bought Soul Calibur 2 for the PS2 recently, so I've been replaying that. Feels nice that most of the moves still come so naturally. I miss the days when you actually had to play the game to earn characters and extra stuff.
Also saw that King of Fighters XIV was on sale so I decided to get it as well. I saw a ton of people complaining about it, but honestly, as a long time KOF fanboy, I am actually enjoying it. Gameplay feels similar to the older 2D games, though it feels more simplified. The smashing of the LP to activate comboed special moves feels like it could get very cheap very fast. Huge roster of characters, which I always appreciate. Sad at the lack of May Lee and Shermie.
-
Done with Super Mario 3D all-stars.
-
Bought the original Sacred on Steam, and after a third party program allowing me to actually play the game, it's… just as endearing as I remember. I was afraid it was going to a case of "aged as badly and old-timey 3d animation", but it's actually quite fun. I, of course, started a Battle Mage, (never really played the other classes), and oh how I missed that smug idiot, rambling nonsense while slaying goblins and bandits.
-
Well shit how does that happen?
I could make excuses like I was playing on hard and that I haven't touched action game in a long time or someone said that was the hardest part of the game
but I think I'm just bad at games that require a quick response/motor skillsanyway I think playing on hard was the killer so i got through at normal
game's been fun so fun, I didn't even know you could choose not to gun down enemies -
Started playing Sekiro for the first time recently. This game is brutally difficult (particularly for newbies) and the learning curve is pretty steep. It’s honestly hard to stop playing though, particularly once you start getting the combat down.
Despite being a Fromsoft game it is absolutely not a Soulsborne game. I’m pretty sure the reason I had such a hard time in the first portion of the game was because I had just come off DS2 and was simply playing the game too much like it. The gameplay is pretty drastically different.
-
Been playing Witcher III and I estimate I'm about halfway through it. Technically, it's an extraordinary achievement in that they created such a vast world with so many quests and interlocking storylines. But beyond that, I dunno, it just kinda feels like a standard dark-fantasy game, gameplay and story-wise. And maybe it's because I'm playing the PS4 port, but the game is glitchy as hell.
-
I'm playing the first Little Nightmares right now. Been enjoying it quite a lot, it's got an insanely good and creepy atmosphere as well as decent gameplay to boot. After my first playthrough I will for sure come back to collect all the collectibles, I'm a sucker for those anyways. What's not to love about this!

I enjoyed the Blood and Wine DLC more then the main game, because Toussaint was a much more brighter and livelier place compared to the hellhole that was Velen.

Well after 3 months of fooling around I finished Nioh 2 and boy that last chapter was wonky as was the final boss with his bullshit. Did like they tied up some of the lose ends of the first game all in all though I would say the 2nd game is better than the first. And although they announced the series will be going on hiatus couple of suggestions for a potential 3rd title we either need a jump mechanic or a swim mechanic, I know that will sound sacrilegious but let's be honest with ourselves falling from a height or drowning is a pretty annoying way to go out in this game.
Shortcuts unlocked in a mission should stay unlocked for future playthroughs no reason why should have to go through the whole process of unlocking a shortcut just to have unlock it again when playing through a level I know the speedrunners would probably be thankful. Completing armor sets should be easier no way I'm playing new game plus and only now got the Red Demon Helmet set after all this time while ironically not having all of the Divine Rarity of said set.
Don't have the DLC pass so I'll guess I'll be finishing up DragonQuest XI before my Game Pass expires again.
-
Plowed through the Yakuza games from 0, Kiwami 1 and 2 to 3 and now on 4.
I have to say that Yakuza 0 is the best out of them all, with kiwami 2 being a close second.
The series has all the manliness you'll ever need and is the Jojo of video games. -
Kind of addicted to Loop Hero atm. Cards, DnD loot, base building, auto combat? Somehow it works perfectly.
-
I just returned to Marvel's Avengers just to play the new Hawkeyes campaign for the PS4. I won't be uninstalling it off anytime soon since spider-man campaign is set to release in this upcoming July.
I am replaying Tales of Symphonia Chronicle for the PS3 for the first time in 6 years due to save lost. I am almost at the end which is a relief. After, I'm going to try finish Tales of Graces F off as my other replay. Then finally I'm going to try out Trails of Cold Steel, I kept hearing good things about it, it should be my turn soon enough.

Been playing Skyrim for over a week now. Having just finished Witcher III, I do appreciate how relatively unobtrusive the story is and how you really can just explore the world and do whatever you want.
What I don't appreciate is how you can breeze through a dungeon, having barely any problems with the common enemies, and then the game slams you with a boss that kills you in one hit.

Oh, you mean those Elite Draugrs? Pretty strange balance, but I guess it kind of makes sense from a world-building perspective. There are low level, regular bandits close the cave entrance, who're just there for the roof over their heads and some coins from the easier to manage dead, but venture deeper, and you're going to find real treasure and absolutely real pain.
I started playing DOOM 2. Even though I've never really played it through the whole way, but I watched my brother, and I seem to know every inch of every single map. I still feel on edge when I hear the Pinkies roaring about.
-
Oh, you mean those Elite Draugrs?
Well, specifically I was thinking of this magician guy (I don't even remember his name), but he kept killing me instantly with an ice spell.

And from a gameplay perspective, it's incredibly cheap. If you're having no problem with the mooks, then the boss shouldn't give you much trouble either. But if you're having problems with the mooks, then yeah, that should be a clear signal that the boss will probably wipe the floor with you.
Even worse, if you want to back out of the boss fight, you have to retreat through the entire dungeon or load a past save and lose a bunch of progress. In one instance, I don't think it would even let me escape the boss room. It just feels like I'm being punished for no good reason.

One of the masked floaty magician dudes, I assume. Yeah, they're… not beginner friendly.
I presume the random mooks scale with your level, while Floaty McNukeface has a fixed power level and that's what's causing the discrepancy. Maybe they should've just put fixed, higher level enemies at the entrance to these particular dungeons, so as to discourage beginners.

Yeah, that would've been nice. Or maybe a level suggestion next to each mission like in Witcher III.

I'm playing Outriders right now which … isn't the greatest. The story is lame, the characters are boring, the level design reminds of 2010 cover shooters and the amound of loading screens is ridiculous.
But damn, it's fun.I mean, i love loot shooters in general, so Outriders is right up my alley. But i think no game hit the nerve that the Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer did back in the day like this game.
There are 4 completely different classes with 8 abilities of which you can choose 3 and they all seem like fun. I'm playing the Trickster right now and i have problems deciding which abilities i want to build around since i just want to use them all.
It's also reeeally fun to play in a team and combo different skills.Kinda wish the game was a bit more inspired as a whole but i'm still hooked.

Recently I played Crash Bandicoot 2 and 3 for the first time. I played Crash 1 as a kid and I remember it being a fun game that I was able to 100% fairly easily. Crash 2 and 3 are pretty much that as well, but man the controls in these games can be so finicky. That and the games have a real problem with depth, making it sometimes impossible to tell how close anything is to Crash. So, at times, the game was tough, but it felt more like it was the game's fault than mine. I hate it so say it, but it felt like some Sonic the Hedgehog bullshit.
Crash 2 - If you just want to breeze through the levels and not worry about collectibles, then this is a mostly fun and easy game that you'll be able to beat in a couple days. In terms of 100%-ing the game, however, some of the things they expect you to do in this game are just ridiculous. Mainly, there are so many levels where you have to backtrack through large portions of the levels without any checkpoints to save your progress. And it doesn't even feel like it was designed that way in terms of playability, it's like they just said "Well, that's just how we've set up this level so I guess you'll have to do it that way if you want to get all the boxes. And the less said about the ice levels the better. Also, this is kind of a random observation, but the hub world is really bland and, for some reason, its theme reminded me of "It's So Easy" by Guns n' Roses.
Crash 3 - Like Crash 2, you can play all the levels and the beat the game pretty easily if you're not worried about collectibles. I would say Crash 3 is definitely more balanced in terms of difficulty, though it still has issues. For some reason they reworked the jumping so that it propels you forward more, which can make positioning really tricky in some cases, like when you to jump between two multi-bounce boxes. There are still a few instances of required level backtracking for 100%, but it's not nearly as brutal as in 2. The motorcycle and jet ski levels, however, can be really aggravating (I spent over an hour trying to get the relic in Area 51). I got 100%, but I'm not sure I'll got for 105% just because of how much time I'd have to spend replaying so many levels over and over to get the gold/platinum relics.
So yeah, Crash 2 and 3 are still mostly a fun time, but I can't say they've aged exceptionally well. Maybe the N. Sane Trilogy versions are better.
Anyway, I just started playing the PS4 remake of Ratchet and Clank today and I'm already having such a great time with it. Very refreshing to play a game that's a lot more polished and has a really funny and interesting story to boot.
-
After hearing great things about it went and played through Omori. There is a lot to take in from this game especially those final sections. There's a part of me that wants to say the game is too long, where sections could've been slimmed down to get to the point faster. At the same time, it felt necessary to make those moments when it got tense hit harder, and to give you time to think over just what was going on. There are some who aren't a fan of the revelation near the end of the game, but it hit me really hard. The last hour of the game I had to walk away multiple times because it was getting really intense. It's a game that I intend to play again because there is so much to take in, but that's going to take a while. Been waiting for a game to come out that really grabbed my attention, and Omori was exceptional in every way to me.

I am currently playing game right now is pokemon emerald and It is the first pokemon game I ever played it is the best ever!

I decided to try In Verbis Virtus, because it was on sale and I thought the "cast spells with your own voice" idea was neat. And it is neat!
Shame that it's not always working as seamlessly as I'd like and that I'm not really enjoying the puzzles. As for the story, I… got nothing. Couldn't really catch my interest and that's a problem, because the gimmick of spellcasting, while pretty exciting, that excitement is rather short lived.I've just finished Pillars of the Earth (one of the many games that could be obtained free some time ago on Epic Games). It's sort of a point and click game, and I haven't really played games like those before, so this was a nice change of pace. I really enjoyed it. The artwork is beautiful and while the animations came off as a bit wonky in the beginning, I got used to them.
I admit, I cried at the end and I was on the edge of my seat on more than one occasion. The story very quickly managed to pull me in, and the characters were all compelling and memorable.
Maybe I should get the book?
