Well, I applied. No pressure. Like they say, it's just the rest of your life. I either spend the next few years living and working on Shikoku or run around in circles at home going "SHIT SHIT SHIT". First cut is announced in late January. May the Force be with me.

ummmmmmmmm yay?
sneaks up and kills you, just for 20 characters
-
I'm not sure what this is for but good luck?
-
-
So you applied for a forgien exchange student plan?
You're a student?
I figured you were much older then that.
-
you're confusing me, y'know?
-
nice, so where a you exchanging to?
-
So you applied for a forgien exchange student plan?
Well, actually, as it says on the first page of that link, it is a program for foreigners to work in Japan in a variety of educational and service positions.
Although I'm still a student, I should have graduated last year but I spent a year studying abroad in Japan so I needed some more Bio credits before graduating.
nice, so where a you exchanging to?
Well, it's called the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program so that's where I'll be headed if I'm accepted.
-
I just received an e-mail that notified me that I have passed stage 1 of the selection process for the JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching) Program. My interview will be in mid-February at the Japanese consulate in NYC. One more stage to pass and I have a full-time job in Japan.
w00t is a nice place to start describing my feelings at the moment.
-
Very cool.
Congradulations.
-
Congrats =) !
I wish you luck all the way.
-
do you have to have a high level in nihon-go to be able to participate to this program or lessons are displayed?
EDIT: ok, it looks like it's full of japanese language lessons, that's cool.
-
Good Luck.
(20 characters says the same)
-

No not at all. In fact it
s somewhat of a plus if you don
t since they only want you talking English. However, its also a plus if you have experience in Japan. That way they know you won
t get there with all these expectations and when they get dashed, wind up breaking contract and heading home. -
One of my JET teachers didn't speak English at all when he came but after 2 years, he spoke some. (I don't know if he's from JET, actually. We had total of 3 foreign teachers.) He was good looking with great personality so girls loved him o.o Our female teacher, though, weren't that great… First one was good but not the second one >.>
-
So I was just gonna go into the interview and wing it but decided for giggles I'd check out the questions online:
Please demonstrate a mini-lesson on diversity in America; you have five minutes.
Holy fuck
Glad I checked these out before-hand!
-
I….
I did it.
I'm in.
I wasn't public about it but I was wait-listed for the program. I found this out in early April, ironically it was later on the same day I posted this:
http://apforums.net/showpost.php?p=242431&postcount=2
Today I received a phone call at 3:50PM congratulating me on my upgrade to accepted status.
And for those of you who doubt the power of OP. On a lark I was browsing You Tube and found Luffy's final showdown with Croc. The moment the clip ended as the battle was over and the first drop of rain fell, the phone rang.
I'm exhausted, ectstatic and relieved all at once. In other words I'm a wreck. I did it. Now I need some sleep.

:banzai:
My sincerest congratulations. I hope you enjoy the experience.
And may I suggest ducking and hiding for the next three months or so so people here don't bury you in "here's $50, can you find … and send it to me" requests.:content:
-
If I end up somewhere where I can fulfill such requests you can bet I'll be on it.
-
Congratulations! Sounds like it'll be a lot of fun, and really sounds like you worked for it. I've got nothing to say but good luck and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Wait, I lied, I did have one more thing to say: I want to go watch the Luffy VS Croc fight now… Because it's a good fight, of course. Not for personal gain. Riiiiiiiiight. shifty eyes
-
Muchos gracias. Yeah dude, that Luffy fight is like a lucky charm or something.
-
Congrats ! :)
And now that you say that that fight is good luck, I'm going to watch it a hundred and eight damn times before tomorrow morning. @_@
-
What's up w/ tomorrow morning for you?
-
Good luck and good traveling.
Are you going to make a blog of your visit, or update your site about your stay?
-
Dead,
I tried the whole blog thing in 2003 when I lived in Shiga and I ended up spending more time in front of a comp than enjoying my time there so I quit it pretty quickly.
However, this will provide me with plenty more material for sections of my site not related to OP.
-
Hey, congratulations and have fun!
I have to admit, when I read JET, I instantly thought of Outpost Nine/Azrael's stories from his experiences in the program. If you're interested, they are logged at http://www.outpostnine.com/editorials/teacher.html (Note, some material might not be appropriate for all ages >_>).
-
Thanks dude. Hehe, he's the fellow who infuses his blogs with a healthy dose of augmentation and sarcasm right? Interesting bloke indeed ^o^
And Carly, I dunno what you needed luck on this morning but GOOD LUCK!
-
@omae:
And Carly, I dunno what you needed luck on this morning but GOOD LUCK!
Ehhh, that morning was the AP Calc test, which I completely bombed on the free-response >_< And now I've completely bombed AP Euro, so eh !
Maybe Luffy's only lucky when it comes to Japan matters.

I'm going to Fukui. A far cry from Shikoku but I'll take it. I just have to go through recycling and garbage sorting HELL again. Man I hate Kinki people. It even says on the capital's website "A conservative atmosphere". Ugh, you know that means a lot of tatemae bs.
-
Fukui-ken belongs to Chuubu, but regardless…
You get to enjoy THE SNOW! XD!
My dad chose to study in Fukui only because it snows there. Don't know why he didn't choose Hokkaido or something though. That'd be more fun... He said he was the first foreign student in that university or something, so newspaper interviewed him or something, lol.
(And I just leave the garbage in the kitchen since I don't know what's going on in garbage sorting process... It wasn't that bad when I left there.)
