It was mentioned in the Avengers thread but Joss Whedon's Marvel TV series is revealed as S.H.I.E.L.D.

(Avengers spoiler)
! But what would a S.H.E.I.L.D. series be without Agent Coulson? It just doesn't seem right.
-
Something like this?

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/10/02/character-descriptions-for-shield-tv-series-revealed
Characters have been revealed as:
Skye: This late-20s woman sounds like a dream: fun, smart, caring and confident – with an ability to get the upper hand by using her wit and charm.
Agent Grant Ward: Quite the physical specimen and “cool under fire,” he sometimes botches interpersonal relations. He’s a quiet one with a bit of a temper, but he’s the kind of guy that grows on you.
Agent Althea Rice: Also known as “The Calvary,” this hard-core soldier has crazy skills when it comes to weapons and being a pilot. But her experiences have left her very quiet and a little damaged.
Agent Leo Fitz and Agent Jemma Simmons: These two came through training together and still choose to spend most of their time in each other’s company. Their sibling-like relationship is reinforced by their shared nerd tendencies – she deals with biology and chemistry, he’s a whiz at the technical side of weaponry.
Althea sounds cool

Skye: Sarah Michelle Gellar
Ward: Adam Baldwin
Rice: Eliza Dushku
Fitz and Simmons: Alexis Denisof and Amy Acker -

Can't tell if sarcasm?
Good news for my ears tho, especially due to my crappy day on DC's end.
-
It could be a show set in the past!
When Coulson was alive.
In Iron Man, he said it wasn't his first rodeo, and Fury in Iron Man 2 said Tony wasn't the first superhero. -
@Sniper:
In Iron Man, he said it wasn't his first rodeo, and Fury in Iron Man 2 said Tony wasn't the first superhero.
I always thought he was referring to Captain America.
-
Yeah, I guess. But why would Fury need to tell Tony that? As if he doesn't know who Cap is!
-
Nice to see it confirmed. I never got the impression in the avengers that he was definitely dead.
But maybe I'm still wrong and the series plays prior to those events and after season 1 the coulson torch gets passed and season 2 plays after the avengers movie. -

Yeah, I guess. But why would Fury need to tell Tony that? As if he doesn't know who Cap is!
Foreshadowing for the audience?
-
It's kinda like One Piece. Unless we see a truly dead body that isn't immediately taken off the battlefield, it's not a true death. Easily ressurected.
-
I', getting the feeling that this series is going to be pre-Avengers, and that's why he's back. After all, we really don't know anything about SHIELD in the cinematic universe.

Because Marvel is creatively bankrupt and Jeph Loeb ruins everything.I think it's more that Clark Gregg really pushes for more work at Marvel. I think he got a little too cosy. But nevertheless I do love Coulson, this series will be fun.

Original Street Fighter movie's Chun-Li, Ming-Na Wen (whose many other credits include Mulan and Stargate Universe), will be playing one of the lead roles: Melinda May.

Chloe Bennet has been cast as Skye

People thought Superman was dead by doomsday but he wasnt maybe this is the same…either that or they will clone him which I doubt.
-
Welp Gents' S.H.I.E.L.D. tv series is set AFTER the battle in New York. Confirmed.
Coulson fucking lives :ninja:
-
Agent's of S.H.E.I.L.D finally was picked up to series by ABC.
Promo pic looks pretty boss.
-
Yeeeep, that definitely looks like a Whedon cast. I'm excited for the show, guessing it will be like Fringe with Marvel characters. And by that, I mean a CSI like show but with unusual cases, who knows though, we don't really know that much about the show. I doubt Joss Whedon is working on every episode, though I am sure his brother and his wife will end up being the show runners. Either way, weekly MCU adventures!
-
Before we get too excited let's remember Jeph Loeb is an executive producer and has a lot of input.

There is no way Disney/ABC is gonna let him ruin this, it isn't Ultimate Spiderman. xD
This could become their flagship show depending on how it goes

He doesn't have that much control over it, plus there aren't any boys or teenagers in the show at the moment(ok that was rude, I'm sorry, but you have to admit, his Nova is just a tribute to his kid and ruins the history of the character.)
-
-
Judging by the guy with yellow pants who jumps down out a window and demolishes the sidewalk, I think it's safe to say there will be superpoweeeeeeeeeeeers fuck yeah!
AND I HOPE THAT GUY IS LUKE CAGE. -
Yea , I'm calling Luke Cage as well.
-
Does Jeremy Renner show up in this?
If so, I'll be all over this show. -
Yes, yes it would.

Okay that preview was kinda awesome. -
I am so beyond excited for this show! I don't really have anything more to add than that…
-
Skye and Jemma will be amazing.
-
-
What happened to the two from the preview way back on the avengers DVD?

They're reverse engineering Chitauri tech for Shield. As for if/when they'll make an appearance again…it's still up in the air. Don't see why they'd show up in this series though unless they want to highlight the R&D Department regarding alien tech.

Well it made it seem like they were going to be main characters in that featurette. Maybe I read It wrong when I saw it though. Maybe that was never the intention.
-
From what I understand the shorts were so that they can expand the universe/give stories the chance to develop if they want so they could be more important down the line. Just personally don't think the show is going to be their time, or at least the majority of the show.
-
Oh man. Awesome.
-
So, I saw the trailer. I can safely say I was more interested BEFORE the trailer.
-
Your loss, see you all on the banwagon in four years!
jk :P
-
I don't know man. I hoping it last 4 years. But I can see it being a one season thing.
-
I'm still more curious about this than invested.
I hope that trailer isn't quite representative of the final thing, the effects seemed pretty solid but some of the requisites looked somewhat fake/low quality like or rather in need of some post production magic. -
Network Tv is pretty much what you see is what you get.
I doubt Marvel will spend the money on their budget , despite just making
another billion dollar movie. -

-
So who caught the premiere?
Probably just the Marvel movie bias but Coulson was the MVP of the night. Show seems to be going the "case of a week/ongoing season storyline" format. I have a feeling the cast will grow on me fondly as well, but none of them really did anything that stuck with me after watching the first episode.
-
Watched the first episode. It was a lot of fun.
Didn't feel like anything special but I can do with it just being fun for now.
Some stuff still looked a bit cheap though other stuff looked better than I expected.
I'm probably on board for the rest of the season.I think the highlight is that all the characters made a good first impression and seem interesting.
