I would not call it lucky and more that the Future devil is like Ryuk and knew that Aki would entertain him. I would rather lose three of my sense than live all the things that Aki has gone through since his childhood.
Love how this series attracts a lot of really talented fan artists. Kudos to the people who made that animation.

I guess by leaving some survivors to tell the tale of the gun devil will make him feared more and thus gain more power?

In Hunter x Hunter there was like a 20 episode stretch of episodes that in universe only lasted about 3 minutes. If this gets animated I would assume this chapter would amount to about 3 minutes, with the narrator carrying the bulk of it.

That's a good question. As far as I can tell Akane was killed by her own Snake Devil before Division 4 could capture her, so she must have been in cont(r)act with Makima before that. Which does make the whole Yakuza attack extremely suspect. At the very least Makima should have been aware of it, if not pulling the strings herself.
Also, I realized that I am completely confused with the timeline. So far I had assumed that the present was year 20something and the 1997 recording a flashback to a previous attack of the Gun Devil. But 1997 is now ? The first appearance of the Gun Devil "13 years ago" would be 1984 ? And all this time the real body of the Gun Devil has been cut to pieces owned by different states, yet it is still able to fully manifest when contracted ? :wassat:

I think what we are seeing here is only 20% of the Gun Devil power.
Since thats what america has of the gun devil.

And probably a preferable alternative to having a lone Gun Devil Leg (20% of the body, right ?) hop to Makima and try to kick her to death. :ninja:

Out of curiosity I went back and checked chapter 13, where its first ever attack is described. On a similar scale, Mexico has a death toll of over 6,000 in just 2 seconds ; Canada some 8,000 in 7 seconds.
So indeed, maybe we are only seeing a fraction of its full power here.

I'm curious as to how Power will get killed now, especially if it's part of the same incident. We might learn next chapter that she ended as collateral, but that would remove much of the emotional weight from her death compared to what Aki went through.

He just murdered the closest thing he had to a good father figure (Aki), because he had to choose to fight and to protect the people close to the apartment. He’s depressed with this, to the point of being a dog (merely obeying orders) would give him a easier life.

It's hard to hate Makima when she's living with so many doggos. Then again, maybe those dogs are actually humans/devils who entirely succumbed to her, making it a lot darker than it looks?
Or Makima just likes dogs despite the fact that she can command almost any living being to act like one anyway.
That aside, I do feel bad for Denji. Having finally found a caring friend only to then have to kill him... I can't imagine what losing Power will do to him.
