Not to mention the flack Lindsay got for calling Nella fat and ugly in her videos as jokes.

The entire point of the site is not to take things too seriously. Just… relax.
-
You know one thing I realised ?
There are lots of ex Nickelodeon fans on the show, some people who grew up on the Disney Channel, but there are few if any people focusing on Cartoon Network and it's nostalgic golden age of the middle to late nineties.
-
@No:
Difference is that, especialy if you're a budding internet celebrity, you can easily be reached.
There was this guy called Goranchev on youtube who got into some sort of an argument with Big Al and he so hated hearing other opinions then those unanymously siding with his that he disabled coments, rating , video responses and friend locked his inbox.
Seems like a whole lot of shit do to through to spare yourself of some comments.
And honestly i think that they want some criticism of their work so that they can better themselves. And well for every constructive criticism there might be fiften jerkasses but hey that's life.
-
I really wish ED was still alive, they had some good screen caps of a forum fight between the fans and one guy who made some very good critisism to the entire site in general.
-
TGWTG fans are the fucking worst, I'm one of the only sane members of the forum.
The latest instance that comes to mind is when a few fans went ballistic because NC didn't bring up Judith Barsi in his review of Jaws: The Revenge (she played the little girl).
Judith Barsi is best known as the voices of Ducky from The Land Before Time and Anne-Marie from All Dogs Go To Heaven. When she was 10, she murdered by her father.
Tragic? Yes. Worth stopping a comedic rant on a terrible movie to talk about it? Nooooooo. She wasn't an important character at all. -
I enjoy the site for what it is. Why does everybody have to manufacture drama, it's so tiresome.
-
While I will admit that TGWTG can have some really bad fans, in that same breath I can tell you've I've met a lot of fans of myself and others who were absolute pleasures to meet, and some that I consider friends now. As far as our bad fans, yeah they can be really bad, but in the same respect I've seen some One Piece fans that are absolutely horrific. In fact I'd dare say some of the worst One Piece fans I've ever seen are on this board, and it's the major reason I don't post in the Manga forum anymore. That said, that doesn't make me dislike One Piece, nor would I say One Piece has bad fans. Every fanbase has it's bad side. I've met LOST fans would will wax philosophic about the show and truly enjoy what the show stood for with you, and fans who never got the point and instead degrade anyone who didn't love it.
Point is: Every fanbase is bad. Every single one of them. TGWTG fans can be pretty bad, but there's a lot of really cool peeps in there too. Fuck, I started as a huge Benzaie fanboy long before I was ever a part of the website.
-

Its alive again, as of now, its only a small archive with what was previously ED, but its having some actual post-destruction changes coming out (very slowly)

Edit: At the above post, this is one of the best One Piece communities, if you think this is bad, you gotta check some other forums, like OneManga's, for example.

I never had doubts of there being good fans, nor did the fans really kill the experience for me. But the things some of the fans have said and done in the past is just awful.
Yes, One Piece has fans that are completely idiotic, and many of them are here. But the way I see it? One Piece is a mainstream series that has a wide variety of fans and haters. The series is made using dozens of artists, marketers, voice actors, animators, and one mangaka. If someone says "One Piece is a piece of shit and the creators should feel bad", who's really going to care? I'm pretty sure those words would even get the chance to cross Oda's ears.
But then I look at TGWTG and the fans who get their feathers all ruffled…and it disturbs me. It's like going to a high school play and booing. I'm not saying criticism shouldn't be made, but half the stupid shit fans get antsy over?
-
Yeah, every fanbase has its share of crazies. Since this is the TGWTG thread, we're bringing up the vocal ones that created Douchey McNitpick. I've seen some nutso One Piece fans here (hello Nakamate thread).
On a lighter subject, Linkara begins his look at Ultimatum. It's going to be a bloodbath. http://atopfourthwall.blogspot.com/2011/05/ultimatum-1-2.html
-
I think Benzaie can sometimes be entertaining, but the man's got terrible taste. You know, what with him naming Lady in the Water as one of the top 10 movies of the year/decade or whatever.
Then again, he made this.
That gets a laugh out of me every time.
I cannot stop watching this. Help me…
-
If a bloodbath is a lighter subject than TGWTG fandom…
-
If a bloodbath is a lighter subject than TGWTG fandom…
That was a bad choice of words on my part, especially when the deaths in Ultimatum make Berserk look like Sesame Street.

This can't be emphasized enough. Not saying AP is perfect, but it's the best one we've got.
-
Besides, the tards on this forum are amusing. Myself included.
-

I probably came off far more condescending than I should of. I'm not saying AP is bad, but rather it's prone to having overly analytical and/or defensive fans just as much as any medium. Wouldn't bother coming here if I hated it, and yes I have seen worse. My apologies if it seemed I was being too negative.
-
No no, there are terrible fans in any fandom. That's just the internet.
-
Some just write long essays on how fishmen can't fit through doors, and some just compromise the personal boundaries of a reviewer who's giving them free entertainment and maliciously expose their true identities to the public.
-
internet: full of life's rejects…...
wait. why am I here?!:cwy:

Brad has another bootleg rarity with the one episode wonder Heil Honey, I'm Home. A sitcom about Hitler, this will be fun. http://thecinemasnob.com/2011/05/16/dvd-r-hell-heil-honey-im-home.aspx

I got around seeing the 1st year Brawl Video. Fun stuff. Kind of hoped to see santa christ, but I guess that he premiered that christmass.

This might have been a good idea.
I mean it. Would have been better then say What I Like about you etc.
This also makes me wish they hadn't canceled "That's my Bush".

And now we have… The scifi Guy. Apparently he's pretty well known elsewhere and a lot of his fans followed him to the site. He reviews THE CORE. A scifi movie about a rag tag team of heroes who must restart the earths core when it shuts down or else all humanity is doomed. http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/teamt/that-scifi-guy/that-scifi-guy/30962-the-core
….And he's pretty fucking hilarious

I saw that before.
God I hate that movie. And the bad part is, The Descent is prety much the exact same movie.
-
Sci-Fi Guy didn't impress me. He barely gave us any introduction and just jumped right into the movie. A lot of his jokes and references were just weird or nonsensical (what was up with the House references?). Dr. Wiki was pretty clever at first, but then it got way overused. Oh, and he needs a better mike.

I think the House reference was due to the begining clip looking like a ton of House intros with random person being at work before being smythen by their mystery illness, which then fades into the intro.

Well, I guess that's good for a one-time joke, but I don't see why he had to continue it throughout the whole review.
-
I always tend to give people a little time to realy develop their style of humour, personaly, so I didn't find it as annoying.

Yeah, I'll give him a few more episodes to impress me, but as a first impression he didn't do much for me.

About the trolls and annoying fans of TGWTG I think Doug really just said everything he wanted to said about them with one of his characters, don´t remember the name but is one nitpick crazy fucker. And i think that is the best way to deal with them, just use all that insane hate this people launch at you at make it a joke. Very much like RWj does every week.

My problem with this is that the guy clearly can't differentiate Trolls and Fans that didn't like his latest video. He's clearly not as bad as Spoony on this regard, but he tends to fine any complaint he just doesn't like as "trolling", which is piss poor.
Also, I love how he mocks Nitpickers while being a nitpicker himself, I mean, that's his whole point, he nitpicks about the smallest of things just so he can turn them into jokes.

Well sometimes is hard to take critical comments that serious when, a lots of the people making the comment don´t know what they are talking about. Is not like everyone commenting is a reviewer of some kind, but i do understand where you are coming from.
Im a journalist and i have work in television and in reality shows nonetheles, and everyone told me how much they suck and how television should be better and everything. And i agree about television quality in terms of content, but really good profesionals work in those shows so sometimes i felt very offended with a lot of those critics.

Does he need to give us an introduction? He's a guy who reviews Science fiction movies specifically much in the same manner of doug or linkara's reviews. What more do we need to know? Correct me if i'm wrong but I thought you were one of those guys who don't like the skits and additional parts of the review that take you out of it. For me, him taking any longer to tell us who he is says to me that he plans on making a very detailed character and that almost always leads to a story for that character and thus, skits. Do you agree?
-
New Nostalgia Critic is up. He looks at the other animated Titanic movie, and it's worse than the one with the rapping dog. http://blip.tv/nostalgiacritic/nostalgia-critic-the-other-animated-titanic-movie-5174158
-
Holy shit. I haven't laughed this hard at an episode in… ever.
Wtf was with that octopus. That... abomination
-
That one was the funniest in a while, mostly because the movie is sooo bad
That sequence with the telegraph wires running through a mouse's mustache (and brain) is something that will take a long time to stop cracking up over.
Of course there is also the insane "plot" and the production values collected from pocket change.
-
it's sad. the art and animation were so nice in it. what a waste of talent.
-

I'm not talking about him introducing himself, I'm talking about him doing a basic introduction for the video and the movie he'll be reviewing. Doug, Linkara, Spoony, and pretty much everyone else do this. The guy gave us 30 seconds of introduction, tops, and that's especially bad considering it was a 30 minute video.

Again, not what I'm talking about. But as far as skits go, I'm kind of "whatever" about them. Some, I think, do detract from the video, but some are pretty passable and even enjoyable.

Damn. Why the heck haven't I seen that show yet?! I might as well turn in my anime fan card right now.
-
People didn't like Simpathy for the Devil? That episode was AWESOME!!! My favorite of them all, though (aside from the Vicious-related ones) has to be Pierrot le Fou.
I am pretty surprised she didn't mention Toys in the Attic, though. That episode is awesome and far better (IMO) than half of the episodes she showed.
-
@SGR:

Same here. I loved that episode.
For the most part I agree with her choices, but some of my other favorites include Toys in the Attic, Brain Scratch, and Jamming with Edward. Oh, and I actually really liked Hard Luck Woman (Ed's dad rocks).
Of course, this reminds me that I really do need to rewatch the series some time in the near future.

should i feel dirty that i watched both titanic movies when i was a kid?
great review anyway , like always
-
One animated Titanic movie I can understand, people do stupid things for a quick buck everyday.
But for their to not only be a second animated Titanic, and for it to be even more insane than the god damn rapping dog…damn. -
Wow, that was probably the best NC vid since Alone in the Dark, for me.
Although it'd be hard not to make an awesome review when you have a movie THAT bad.
-
That Other Titanic looks incredibly bad. I mean. Wow.
Damn. Why the heck haven't I seen that show yet?! I might as well turn in my anime fan card right now.
Yes. Yes you should.
