@Zik:
So all that has to happen is for Sanji and Zoro to fight someone stronger than Yamato and for Yamato to fight someone he can easily beat like Jimbe vs. Who's Who.
Cuz to me when Jimbe got asked to join he was stronger than Zoro and Sanji. Nothing in Sou or Dressrosa or Punk Hazard changed that dynamic. When he showed up in Wano he was stronger than Zoro and Sanji. The only thing that changed that is I guess Zoro on the roof top and then fighting King and Sanji now fighting Queen.
Also the notion they'll be behind Yamato forever just doesn't make sense. Does this mean Jimbe is done growing in strength?
This power ranking thing just seems like an overstated barrier to someone joining. Something Oda can easily remedy. With Oda just now labeling those two the wings of the pirate king I highly doubt that dynamic is at risk in any way no matter who joined.
Maybe, but there are two issues that would need to be resolved. First, Zoro and Sanji would need to fight someone on Kaido's level to equal what Yamato has done and I'm not sure how they could do that. Secondly, they'd have to master using CoC in their attacks like Yamato. Zoro has shown a flash of using it without knowledge of what he actually did and Sanji still hasn't been shown with CoC. That's a lot for them to accomplish just to be on par with Yamato, much less surpass Yamato.
@electricmastro:
If anything, I'm glad and open to the idea of more heavy hitters joining the Straw Hats considering how they might be going up against Blackbeard, Sakazuki, and Im's forces at some point. Luffy is going to need all the help he can get in getting to the One Piece, dealing with the final war that will happen as a result, and ensuring he doesn't lose anyone else again like what happened with Ace.
I don't have any major issues with it, but I'd rather see the existing SHs elevate their game rather than relying on gimmicks, conveniences, and plot armor. We know the Tobi Roppo can use haki, but apparently plot armor prevented it in their fights with the SHs. Rather than having the SHs learn it and show flashes of it, their opponents just fight down to their level.
