@MrBits:
No spoiler will ever be more ridiculous than volume 59 being titled "The Death of Portgas D. Ace."
He was fatally wounded at the end of the previous volume, the volume/chapter title only confirms the inevitable, and Oda obviously intended it to. Seeing that on the volume cover is no more a spoiler than seeing the chapter title was on the week to week read, and since it's information we're meant to know, it's not a spoiler at all.
@Shobu:
I have the very exact feeling when i was watching Arabasta in the anime, and Luffy just came out of his second round with Crocodile, and suddenly… checking the opening Hikari E, saw Robin on the Sunny and being a nakama over all... then when she says that is gonna die at the tomb, i couldn't believe her.
That feeling is what i have with Snake-man on the cover of the 89, Oda spoiling D: This man knows no shame.
Gotta wait for the SBS to finally forget this exists.
The way it's framed it's hard to tell it's a new form unless you already know it is. This exaggerated post, like you personally have been spoiled by this cover when you already know exactly what it's building up, just feels ridiculous to me. You weren't spoiled. And even if you had been, to compare seeing another Gear Four form to getting a new crewmate… man, I don't know what to tell you. What even is this dramtic bullshit lmao
Posts like these (and they come up basically every time a volume cover or piece of promo art hints at a scene any more explicitly than just showing the characters in it) feel like the equivilent of complaining the blurb on the back of the volume "spoils" the whole first chapter of the book. They're annoyingly paranoid, and most of them come from people who were too up to date to have been spoiled, who put the foreshadowing together easily because they already knew the answer and then complained that it gives too much away, regardless of if it's actually feasible that a first-time reader would feel like something big has been given away.
