Yeah, this wait is starting to get a little worrying now, combined with the fact that they're just now getting around to releasing stuff that's been in the coffers for a couple years. If we don't see or hear anything about Punk Hazard after summer, then it's time to start sounding the alarms.
@Zephray:
I wish they’d be more selective in the dubs they put their energy into. Most of their releases are smut—or at least heavily feature a sexy girl in a short skirt. It’s odd that they prioritize that shit over a huge property like OP.
Anyone else wishing they would’ve given OP a simuldub now?
I wholeheartedly agree, Funimation's rationale behind their simul-dubbing slate in the last year or two has been very puzzling. They're acquiring a lot of flash-in-the-pan, second-rate titles, the likes of which ADV/Sentai used to pick up. I have to wonder how much they've been burned financially by producing dubs for out-right duds like Hand Shakers. Who seriously thought it was a good idea to produce a simul-dub for Monster Stories, a kids toy-commercial show?
Many have speculated that the industry is in another "boom" like it was a decade ago, and their are many signs pointing to this:
- Dozens of shows that were flops in Japan were dubbed anyway ✓
- Companies made several baffling, highly-speculative decisions ✓
- Companies way overpaid for second-rate titles (not confirmed, but alluded to by some in the industry)
As a result, many in the industry floundered or went belly-up when the bubble burst. I really hope that when the other shoe drops, Funimation will have learned from the past.
