Godra isn't in the bug egg group, just in the dragon one, so it's just a melted reptile.

Maybe snails aren't considered bugs by Japanese society?

Well, they think seahorses are dragons, so I guess anything's possible.
The Japanese word for bug, 'mushi', simply refers to any sort of creepy crawly, be they insect, arachnid, or snail. It's not a scientific classification.
Pretty similar to the colloquial 'bug' actually.
Yah, but while Trapinch and Gligar lines get to be in the bug egg type, Goomy doesn't. Not even the amorphous group, where other blobs live.
My guess is that it is a mucus covered lizard rather than an actual slug.
I'm just personally not a fan of the butterfly pokemon. Butterfree, Beautyfly, Vivillon… to me they're all just completely uninteresting.
Particularly since there are cooler-looking similar mons, like Venomoth and Masquerain.
Does any of those moths have those cute af feet, though?
!
One thing I hate about the 3D models, by the way, is that Butterfree is always flying with her feet just dangling there as if they are some sort of dead ribbons. Probably the thing I want the most for upcoming games if for every pokémon to be grounded in pokémon-amie/refresh.
I like how Pokemon White was being criticized for having a shit start earlier when we were talking about it, and atm I'm just bored out of my mind from the beginning in Silver. Why did they figure you had to experience several trainers using bellsprouts? Is it the game telling you you are wrong for not choosing Cyndaquil?
Music is phenomenal though.
Sprout tower, eh? Yeah that part is annoying.
If you didn't pick Cyndaquil, you have to rely on a Pidgey.
I chose Totodile because of the whole using-new-mons policy (and because foo really wanted me to pick it), and so far I've just scratched my way through the entire game. Haven't caught anything else, since everything else is boring so far, and it's at like level 14 from killing bellsprouts.
I don't think I could have done this with Chikorita though. Not to mention they go and give you a flying type gym to start. Poor Chikorita, forever doomed to suck.
I picked Chikorita and didn't have a problem. Geodude took down the whole tower singlehandedly.
Glad we know that picking Chikorita wasn't a problem in the using of a completely different mon that could actually do things.
SIGH

To be fair, you're supposed to train another Pokemon (Geodude) to take out Falkner. The starters all suck against him.
I mean…Chikorita can still fight, it has a better time than Totodile in the tower because it can resist Vine Whip. (mine almost died early in my Nuzlocke)

You don't have to specifically use Geodude lol. Gastly, Hoothoot, and Pidgey can do fine if you have enough potions. And hell, Totodile gets Rage to pile through.
Like I'm saying, I'm literally just running with totodile using scratch. Did bellsprout tower with just that, did falkner with just that. No problem.
The game obviously does want you to be catching other pokemon, but it's still stupidly unbalanced in terms of starters just how much of an easier time cyndaquil can have with sp. attack fire. Particularly since early game your starter is supposed to be carrying, by design.
Chikorita is pretty much objectively the least useful starter in Johto, what with it having a type advantage against a grand total of zero Gyms (Or, well, I guess it has an advantage against Chuck's Poliwrath…?). On the other hand though, having used one myself in a Nuzlocke and witnessed the Legend of Mr. Stake in Team Four Star's Soul Silver run, I absolutely can't bring myself to dislike the little guy. What it lacks in power it more than makes up for in resilience. The little guy Will. Not. Die. (I mean, mine did in fact die, but he survived so many near-death experiences before finally kicking the bucket against Lance, at a point where all chances of me winning were effectively already gone anyway.)
Isn't Chikorita also statistically the worst starter? I know at one point I saw a legitimately objective and competitive analysis of all of them, can't find it now since google and youtube both just give me clickbaity top tens that have no reliability whatsoever.
honestly, all three Johto starters are pretty mediocre in Gold/Silver, but Totodile can get the most work done.
HG/SS made them more serviceable with stuff like Totodile getting Ice Fang reasonably early and such. Hope Feraligatr gets to pick up Liquidation at some point in the future though. Needs something meatier than Waterfall.
Even if Chikorita is "bad", in gen 2 it gets Reflect, some powders, Synthesis, and Body Slam. Good enough for me!
But like Gyarados, the physical-special split turns the Totodile line into demon mode with Waterfall and Ice Fang.

poor Cyndaquil though
the split just made them one-hit wonders
I wonder why it took them that long to split attack and sp. attack. Before that things were either too easy or too difficult, now it's all well balanced.

All the praise to Mr Stake and his glorious headbutts.

a shame
thunderpunch on typhosion in gen 2 was neat

Probably. I can't remember the last time I used mine.
Well, I beat the Pokemon League on my Moon nuzlocke run.
I was so close. I had gone through the whole game without losing any Pokemon, and then the Elite Four wiped out half my team. My Hariyama fell to Hala's Crabominable's Z move and then Kukui's goddamn Lycanroc (which I had knocked down to 1/4 of it health) crit'ed my Tsareena and my Primarina with it's Stone Edge.
So yeah, it's a victory, but a bittersweet one to say the least. I guess I'll do the Ultra Beast missions and face Red/Blue, but I think I need to take a break now (and I really wanna play Samus Returns)
Whoa, talk about nostalgia. Anybody read this, or any of the other books in the series, as a kid? Or have I just outed myself as a youth? :ninja:

Well it's not 100% similar, but I remember owning a small paperback with Bulbasaur on the cover, like an anime-centric kid-level book. Wish I could remember.
Also my own Nuzlocke is done, and after Smokey the Ursaring (the lone survivor of the E4) soloed Kanto's trainers, he persevered and took down Red. Epic.

Hmm, I suspect that's a different thing (in fact I think I saw a few covers that sounded similar while I was searching for the book I linked). Something like this maybe?
The first one I read all the time. Got a new copy recently, and it still mostly holds up.
Oh awesome! I might have to look at picking up a new copy as well, even just for nostalgia's sake (and provided they aren't now ridiculously marked up or something )

I got it from eBay for just $4, but most copies don't go higher than $10.
I forgot how awful flying between regions was in Gold and Silver.
oh, I wish it was Pokemon Special/Adventures. Nah it didn't have pictures, all text, Ash was the mc, etc.
Wow that's really obscure . Some light googling only found me the official anime series novelization here and this book that's supposedly like a novel/encyclopedia type thing on Ash's Bulbasaur.

My own run is nearing the end too, nothing but the long and tedious grind for Red left… I am now using the League for level-grinding. Incidentally, the last death I had was losing my Hypno to the shiny Gyarados. Whom I fought after getting my fifth Badge. Ever since then, the only change to my core team I've made was replacing my Fearow with a Doduo because Dodrio is kind of better than Fearow. My team is Feraligatr, Slowking, Ampharos, Umreon, Nidoqueen and Dodrio.
At this point I am kind of eager for this run to wrap up so I can focus wholeheartedly on catching mah legendaries, which I'd decided not to do before the Nuzlocke was over, due to how risky and difficult trying to catch a legendary is in this game where the Ultra Ball is the best ball one can hoard and status conditions other than sleep apparently don't affect the catch rate…
Incidentally, my total death count is six. Three of those were against Whitney. Which is actually a bit weird, being that I went into that battle with the exact same strategy that I completely obliterated her with in my Soul Silver run. (Spam Sand-Attack with Pidgeotto, then wreck Miltank with Double Kick from Nidorino.)
F*cking HYPE

F*cking HYPE
Why was there footage of the tutorial in that?
My thoughts the last weeks about this game's story is that there is some connection with the last one. Seems like there is some opposite mirror like world on the other from S/M with some connection due the Necrozma - Ultra Space - Multiverse.
On the last game we had the opportunity to go and catch another Cosmog on some other world. I think that world and Cosmog is the one on those games and there is some connection between them.
Also the suits that the new team wears is for them to travel through Ultra Space and the Multiverse as it looks like the one we wear on the trailer. But I think the suit for the team was made to "protect" them from what the "Fallers" are "get" in their body and the Ultra Beasts hunt them after that
was that a star fox segment in ultra space?
dang

I wouldn't celebrate quite just yet; most of those clips appeared to be from the special cutscenes like the first game had, and they were emoting there (and only there) in vanilla Sun/Moon.

I want to get excited for that idea, but in gen 6 the alternate universe version of Omega Ruby was Alpha Sapphire. There's still no guarantee that the games won't be 99% the same.
Our boi Guzma is in here. Shit is real.
But the plot is the same as in S/M, right, guys?
There're no more excuses to not purchase this.
What do you mean? There still Guzma and Lusamine there.
So it's the same. New evil team? Pffft nothing new
You know shit has gotten real when…
! The psychopath, lunatic, abusive mother, of all people, tells you to run away. Whoever is that made her react like this means bad news for Alola.
That's a lot of new stuff if I do say so myself.
This is why you should never judge a book by its cover.
Now if only we can get Mega stones again…
What!? A new map (that is not Kanto that everyone and his mother want to go again for nothing) and no one is hyped?
Yeah sure Pokémon is dead, more like the fans is dead
