Welcome to Movie Nights, where forum members come together to watch movies new and old, good and bad, and themed and non themed. Every Saturday night at 6 P.M. EST, a new movie is streamed, as voted by members of the forum, and discussed live between forum members in a chatroom. What happens the next Saturday? The same thing! Along with the standard polls, there will be a poll for the theme for the next month during the middle of the previous month, which will determine the type of movies that are allowed to be nominated for that month.

Things to know
You do not need to have watched the movie recently to join in on the discussion! If you feel that you have adequete knowledge about the movie, or are even interested in watching it, and just want to hear a few opinions, feel free to post your lingering thoughts or your questions about the movies, and I'm sure people will be more than willing to discuss with you and answer you.

Hmm, well the best day for a lot of people would probably be weekends. Either Friday or Saturdays are likely the best times, but if a good majority of people chime in for a different day, that'd work too.

As for when we can start doing this, I'd say we should take nominations until up to this Friday/Saturday, have a poll that lasts until next Friday/Saturday morning, and also have nominations for the second week of movies open up.

In outline form…

January 23rd/24th (Friday/Saturday) - Nominations for the first movie close, poll begins, nominations for the second movie begins.
January 30th/31st (Friday/Saturday) - Poll results for the first movie are in, and the winner is streamed on one of the nights. Poll for the second movie begins.
etc

There's probably a better way of doing the format though, so if anybody has a better idea, let me know!

Yeah, I'd never expect everybody to join the stream. That's why we'd basically have a week to discuss the movie before moving on to the next.

Yeah, if it's done like at six or seven pm American time, it would translate to around midnight or one am so that would be better for Europeans I think?

Yeah, around that time range is the plan. Maybe a little earlier if the movie is a longer one though.

I'll be streaming the movie to a website, but the website has chat capabilities.

There's also an IRC chat room that can be used for the live discussion.

Yeah, that's the plan

Still debating on what site to use though. Ustream is one of the best, but it doesn't allow video quality lowering unfortunately (which is an issue since 720p-1080p streaming can be bad for some people).

For the first few streaming nights, anything is game.

After consideration, it might be best to vote on "themed months", since multiple movies in one week or night may not work for a lot of people. Since February will be our first month doing it, perhaps we should do this "anything goes" for that month, and then vote on a set theme for the month of March when it comes time to start nominating movies for the first week of March.

Themes are pretty useful as it saves people from choosing between every ever to ones with an applicable range. Also indicates if you're going for quality, light entertainment, so bad it's good or so bad it's bad.

Nominations for the second movie are now open (this will be watched February 7th, but everything is on a 2 week delay basically). "Anything goes" is still in effect, and we'll be voting on a theme for the month of March sometime later in February.
