Nintendo already hinted at playable Octolings themselves on their Splatoon tumblr account, but the amiibo thing is new. I wonder how well Callie and Marie will sell (probably very), considering a lot of people whine about them due to the updates you're forced to watch. I'd definitely be interested, though I wonder if they'll have DLC attached to them, like the original three amiibo. Maybe Agents 1 and 2 flashback missions (and a reverse campaign for the Octolings)! That'd be dope.

They are confirmed to have missions (well at least Octolings). My guess is that the callie and marie amiibos will have slosher and splatling campaign challenges respectively and then the ocotlings will have some special extra challenge.

Sounds awesome, hope there's no weird exclusivity to any of them if they do happen. I'd easily want all of those.

I dunno, Noqanky…..it started off only one or so amiibo being an exclusive per wave, now it feels like at least 3 or 4 per wave is binded to a single store. Binded from the people that darn it, just want their fancy Nintendo toy to go on their shelves.
That being said I will fight people for Callie and Marie.:ninja:
In other news, Art won the Splatfest:

First time a Splatfest team in the Americas won in both popularity AND wins. Good going, Art.
-
Well, there goes my winning streak. Eh, it was bound to happen eventually, and I wasn't able to participate much during this one, so I wasn't all that invested. I'll still get some Snails for briefly participating, so I'm content.

Yooooooooooooooooo!
You're that guy who used to make videos about that One Piece review!? I remember Eli Stone (aka the cartoon hero.) The Hero Of Tomorrow actually has you as his subscription list even after you stopped making videos! I used to be an old swagger fag in the younger days of the Internet. I didn't even have a YouTube account until 2012 (and later 2013 due to me forgetting my password and me being locked outta my AOL account.) but still… I have to congratulate you for reintroduced me to the show in a new light. Had I not known that Funimation would finally get to season 4 (and 5) years after your video came out. I won't be on the Internet today. Atleast not socially acceptable? lol
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Then again? I may only leave on a seven month break due to me not being forced in the mindset and in my skills?
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Go back to school, get better at my grammar, get a job into animation, etc.

I also need to buy some special pills that you can only get online. A smart pill, if you will? (I just need to buy a PayPal account because I use my sisters money way too much.)
Anyways... Back to talking about Splatoon. Sorry for my derailing again? :(

Amusingly, I'm the only one who picked art that I know of and I could barely participate because of having a job. Suck it Marie!
-
Yeah I knew art would win. A lot of gamers I know are into art in some way or form
-
Wat. We, Team Science, lost on both popularity and win rate? All of my hard work winning matches FOR SCIENCE has been for naught.
! You lied to me, Bill Nye! Science doesn't rule like you said!
Anyways, I'm surprised at just how close the results were this time. I was expecting Team Art to be more popular, but Team Science to have a higher win ratio. Guess I was wrong on that account. Still had a great time winning the majority of my matches. I've never done this well on a Splatfest before.
-
Has anyone else been dcing a lot lately?

It's just regular shitty Nintendo netcode man. It depends on how many people are online, where they're from, and maybe even how much load your ISP has in your area. Usually I suffer the worst when my match contains mostly Japanese players, but for example during Splatfests it's always abysmal.
-
I dunno. My connection was pretty good up until now, Japanese players, Splatfest, and all.
It's just that for some reason, lately I've been disconnecting to the point that that I don't even bother to play ranked anymore lest said rank drop even further than it already has. Only like 1-in-10 matches actually make it to the final whistle now.
-
See, now you're playing Splatoon. Before, you were cheating or something xD
Also, new weapon!
Finally some incentive to get back into the slosher class. Whenever I find the time to play the game again.
-
Here's gameplay for it:
-
Just did several matches with the tri-slosher, and I think for a no-motion-control-low-joystick-sensitivity noob like me, this is a more friendly weapon than the regular slosher. The range is pretty diminished and it takes at minimum 2 shots to kill, but as it's a close-range weapon with decent spread, pinpoint aiming while jumping is less of an issue. It's more about trapping or cutting off opponents before finishing them off, and the Disruptor is a further tool to do so. It also covers area really well.
Even I feel dirty using Bubbler though. I had one match where I went 8/1 and also took MVP, where I would just activate Bubbler and take out 2-3 opponents. It's dumb.
-
Hey, what's worse than someone spamming the Carbon Roller?
Someone spamming the carbon roller while also being able to send an army of seekers after you! Hahahaha, Nintendo, you so silly.
http://splatoonus.tumblr.com/post/130332691643/have-you-ever-looked-at-your-carbon-roller-andAlso, Splatfest coming up in 10/9: Do you prefer to travel by car, or travel by plane?
http://splatoonus.tumblr.com/post/130343570202/the-next-splatfest-is-almost-upon-us-this-time-weDefinitely going Team Plane myself given how much more often I get places by plane, and how much faster it can be. Suck it cars!
-
Is there a Subway aka the "too poor to afford either" option?
I suppose Cars then.

Splatnet is now available in English.
It allows you to:
- see who is playing Splatoon.
- view ranked data.
- view Gear and weapons you’ve equipped while playing online.
- view information about stages.
-
Ooh, me likey. Let's see who among my circle is high-ranked?
@Splatnet:
Turf War:
1. Foolio - 90
2. Nephy4 (Noqanky) - 75
3. diego (?) - 6
4. Ouroboros - 5Ranked Battle
1. Ouroboros - 78
2. diego (?) - 32
3. Nephy4 (Noqanky) - 22
3. Foolio - 22
5. R.D Blax - 20Conclusion: Noqanky, Foolio, and Ouro would wreck me.:ninja:
-
Those weekly rankings essentially just measure who plays more. Sure if you win a higher percentage of your matches it will increase faster, but it doesn't say a lot about who would wreck you.
But Noqanky, Ouro and I would wreck you. :ninja:
-
-
But could one wreck the other two?:ninja:
Hard to say. When the three of us play there's a lot of mutual wrecking.
And then there's the magical moments when we're all in the same team. Oh boy.
That said, haven't seen Ouro in a while. -

Nintendo has been bringing the ban hammer on Splatoon hackers

Today, after months of playing, I finally learned how to play Splatoon. Which is to say, I was finally able to use the gyroscopic controls. Over time I've become less and less sensitive to the camera movements in the game so I don't get dizzy now apparently. I just switched tonight so I still suck at it, and need lots of practice with the new aiming (quick aiming, tracking people, stable and fluid movement) but I'm on my way. Might also crank up the sensitivity when I get more comfortable; it's at -3 right now.
It's so liberating already though. I've pulled off kills that would have been physically impossible for me without this setup, and painting is more efficient too. I can actually play the game as intended! I'm going to keep practicing and maybe even experiment with stuff I stayed away from before like snipers and blasters. Scared to death to try ranked again until I get way more comfortable. I still sometimes forget to aim with the gamepad and feel really dumb after.
-
Learning motion controls is a bit tricky, but so worth it. You'll never want to play sticks ever again. Well, by themselves that is. I tend to use the right stick to turn around and use motion controls to make the more precise movements like aiming. It could help if you're having sensitivity issues between turning and aiming.
Also in other news,
.
-
-
Why don't they just ask the players what themes they want?
Because in Europe that would mean an Xbox vs. Playstation splatfest :ninja:
-

I guess I'm weird because I can't play with motions controls at all. I find myself too jittery to really steady the Gamepad (maybe because I'm not used to TPS? I dunno) for those precise aims. Using sticks technically eats up seconds of precision, and in one second allow you can be caught and splatted but….eh.

Nah I was the exact same way. Getting dizzy was an additional barrier, but boy I could not keep my camera steady. When I came back to it after months of stick aiming, I still felt just as useless. But then I spent a couple of hours flailing and getting my ass kicked and… then it became kind of okay. And within another day I feel great and wonder how the hell I did it the old way.
Seriously it's like new worlds opened up. First I tried sniping and while I wasn't really any good, I WAS landing some pretty decent snipes on occasion. Felt nice for a first attempt, especially since I had just turned the sensitivity back up to -1 and was trying to get used to that. Then I decided to go for a blaster. I picked the Luna blaster because it kind of fits my style (though later I want to try other ones) and... from my very first match it was just destruction. Blasting so many mofos and it felt so good. Most fun I've ever had with the game, honestly, now that I can actually jump around and harass people.
Problem is after some matches, bullshit lag took over and it's just angering. I guess this is not a new experience to people with precision weapons, but it was at the point where my Luna blaster (with three damage boosts) would not kill with direct hits, or even TWO direct hits. What the hell? After that I spent way too many hours in ranked with Noqanky and I don't think the lag issues have ever been that bad for me. I went down almost exactly an entire rank. And we were losing to Bs and even some Cs on occasion... people just wouldn't die and what was on screen wasn't what the game decided was happening.
I can't believe the way Splatoon makes me go from loving a game to wanting to stab people in a matter of a few matches. And what really is the most depressing is I can get super inspired to get better, optimize my gear, practice, and everything. But in the end the game is always putting up this lag barrier. And maybe it can be mitigated by using hyper-speed in-your-face stuff like the 5 jillion Tentatek Splattershots out there, but that's just not my style. I watch people with S or S+ stream and they're on average not incredibly more skilled than me. It's just when they shoot enemies, the enemies actually die. I feel helpless. Sometimes suddenly a match is nice and obliteration occurs; I get this glimpse into how it COULD be. But then back to the same old frustration.

The splatoon hangover right now is real. That was a crazy marathon.
And yea, for the most part I'm just happy people experience what it's like to be a sniper main in an environment of lag, where you never know if it will pay to snap a snipe on someone because then it doesn't kill them, they know where you are, and you get one shotted with a tentatek or octoshot.
And then there's the matches where the whole enemy team goes down in quick succession as you snipe them one after the other.I'm almost sure the game is rigged to work that way. It's too perfect of a reward and punishment cycle to create addiction, kind of like coin slot machines. You keep playing hoping that the next match will be the one where lag won't be a factor, then you have all of the fun so you keep playing, but then it strikes and you lose again and keep playing to get that fun high again, so on and so forth. It's evil.

It's a death sentence. The entire point of the damn weapon is that it's super lower range and fire rate, but it's supposed to be a sure kill. When I tried a sniper for a bit what shocked me was the instances where I'd have a shot lined up and release the trigger only for nothing to happen. Gun decides not to fire. Uhhh wat?

Yup, that's also a classic. I've also had moments of standing on enemy ink for reasons, or having someone come up to my face, so I spam the heck out of the trigger to do that squirting thing, but nothing happens.
The sad thing for me is that the weapons that allow for rapid fire rate without charge leave me feeling super unsatisfied. And my assumption is that with those weapons lag situations are probably not as critically limiting as when you have weapons with power and low fire-rate, where people surviving you means you're dead most of the time.
-
As critically limiting? Nope. Enough to still be frustrating as hell and drop a whole rank? Yep. I know I'm a broken record on this matter, but it's still the same. I'm better at the game, with better controls and better gear. But it's still the case where on a good day I rank up in an hour, and on a bad day I spend 8 hours struggling and drop 100 points.

Blasters have a weird range where if you're too close you'll miss. Basically the bubble's pop is the hit radius so you can end up firing the bubble behind the opponent and have it completely miss

This is what makes me hate the range blaster with a passion. Because for all intents and purposes, a blaster with more range sounds awesome! But when the range means it always hits something before the balloon pop effect goes into play, it just makes it super frustrating to use sometimes. At least for me, I feel like I'm always lightly brushing an edge or a wall or a slope or the floor and there goes the explosive effect.
-

But it also detonates on impact with anything, so a direct hit on an opponent should be the best possible outcome. Which is what i'm talking about.

Version 2.2.0 is coming out for release on 10/20
Here are the videos of upcoming changes
Personal highlights
-Rollers got nerfed. No more dynamo flinging oceans of instant death ink anymore.
-Splash walls and Kraken nerfed as well. Probably to counter all the .96 Gal Decos -and to a lesser extent the .52 Gals- running around in ranked.
-E-liters nerfed. Don't think too many people will be using it now that you have to fully charge it to splat someone.
-S+ is now slightly easier to get in, and apparently S+ players will be matched up with other S+ players, not S. Maybe now I'll see more than one or two S+ players in a Ranked random lobby now.
-Poor Blasters got the short end of the stick.
-Inkzooka got nerfed with a slower fire rate, and the Splattershot and its variants deal less damage, but not too much.Overall, I got out of this relatively unscathed, but I'm curious to see how the high rank metagame changes.
-
As a .96 Deco user in ranked, I agree with the Kraken nerf and most of the Splash Wall nerf… though I think they went overboard with its durability. Glad my main weapons didn't get damage reductions. I am a bit puzzled about the Blaster nerf. I was just starting to love the Luna Blaster, too.
Tonight I made exactly 0 progress in ranked after around 2 hours of play. It's always fun when a Suction Bomb explodes in under 1 second, or a Blaster teleports, or you camp someone's quick-jump location but don't even see them land.
-
Given my experiences with tower control my assumption is that the blaster nerf was to ensure that completely wiping out someone on top of the tower requires a bit more precision rather than just relying on the huge impact radius. From how I am understanding the nerfs anyway.
When it comes to the kelp splat charger I'm safe from nerfs, inkbrush gaining mobility is a huge boon to my game, and I'm also super hype about the splatlings having less charge time (for the mini) and less ink consumption (for heavy.) Overall I'm very happy with this balancing, though I still want to see the octoshots and tentateks of the world burn even further.
-
Is it safe to play this game again? I'm still worried about the hacker guy deleting save data.
-
I haven't heard any news of the hacker for some time so I would say yes but if you want, you can also back up your save data onto a USB storage device for reassurance.
-
I read somewhere that they got him? not 100% sure
