I would wear something like the gas mask if I could wear a beanie over it, too. I wish face accessories were a different slot.

I wouldn't mind getting to rock some glasses along with the beanie, that would be awesome.
I am, however, more interested in options for pants. The black short shorts just don't do it for me. Or even accessories like scarfs or gloves.
-
It'd be nice if they included some cosmetic stuff you could add to your SquidKid that doesn't necessarily have status effects.
Like "You can have supplemental headgear like glasses etc that has no status effects, just looks cool"
-
how do you reroll abilities and add slots. I still have not figured it out yet. I know it involves spike but that is it
-
When you reach level 20, he'll offer you new slots for 30k a pop. When a gear's slots are maxed out, you can pay him another 30k to reroll them.

This would be awesome, but only if it's a "cover-up" kinda thing, where the original item's stats are still there, and the cosmetic item is the one visible.
That's a thing in quite a few games actually. I'd love to see it be implemented here.
Not unexpected, but an Honest Trailer is out for the game now:

That's pretty awesome!
Also love how we seem to get a view of future multiplayer maps, as well as the fact splatfest will be flooded with miiverse graffiti. Should be fun, love the aesthetics!
-
I finally fixed my router so I've been playing online nonstop. So much fun!
And I loved the intensity at the end of the final boss fight in single player. I could do with some more of that in my life.
-
When Spike says he delivers tomorrow he means 24h? Just to be sure because I ordered something for the first time and on the next day in my timezone he still states "tomorrow".
-
Prepare yourselves for Mad Max Miiverse posts
-
Ooh level 8 from the single player? :D
On a side note, I had a winning match with no deaths and 1000 p before win bonus. Felt great.
-
Oh my god…They have cars.
-
Oooh that new stage should be fun. We really do need the variety. Though what I crave most right now is more modes with friends.
I'm giving up on ranked play for now because of how frustrating lag is. Maybe weekend afternoons when Japan is mostly asleep I'll try a bit… maybe. But otherwise I get tossed into matches with 7 Japanese people who are at the A or A- range, and I can't keep up with good players in splat zones when everything that happens has a delay for me. The problem is I really like the mode. I don't understand why we can't have it for friends. And I don't understand why we can't have regional play. At least in turf wars lag is slightly less impactful, since you can go paint stuff without being forced into direct confrontation the entire match to fight over a tiny patch of land.

SQUIDTALES WOOHOOooo!
–- Update From New Post Merge ---

Just started playing ranked battles, and man the blaster ROCKS! I had major trouble making it work in turf wars for most maps, but it's just soooo good in ranked. I got like 20 kills once! Great murder support.

Interesting, I don't think I've seen one of those in ranked, at least not in a long long time. Pretty much all I see these days is Aerosprays (both varieties), Chargers (of all sorts), Dual Squelchers, Rollers (dynamo or krak-on), and the occasional .96 or .52 gal.
-
Pfft! Scrubs can't handle the Splattershot Pro's greatness… :P
-
Any splattershot kin is a rarity. Though sometimes I do see the shields or burst bomb barrages come out. Also one time recently a dude was rocking an N-Zap pretty hard.
-
So the new map was released and holy moley on ranked it's just MADE for the blaster.
Everyone on the catwalk dies.
Everyone on the middle platform dies.
Everyone up high diiiees. The blaster is cool in that it has an advantage from the low ground, so for a level based around so much high ground it DOMINATES.
-
I think you should keep playing and rank up, see if you still feel that way with good players <_<. I tried some regular and ranked matches and due to the wide open spaces and platforms, it's one of the least optimal stages for slow weapons. And my favorite right now is the .96 which is just not ideal. Tonight I tried ranked despite saying I wouldn't, because new stage. And it was one of my worst sessions. Lost about 100 points. Not even just on the new stage. Why must the lag and RNG be so cruel? I'll reiterate, just let me make teams with friends and play splat zones with friends and I'll be happy.
Also Mickamott, that WAS you in that one match right? I'm not hallucinating. I guess you had to run away after I splatted you. Never mind the fact that your team won. That's not important. :D
-
Fool taking no prisoners!
Also, I've been playing less and less, since I'm mad at the shops for not giving me the clothes I want, and lag really takes away from my enjoyment of the game. Also, running losing streaks due to being paired with fucking losers who drag me down is no fun.
-

Yeah, a lot of the times teammates make or break it. I'm annoyed to still see people leave big chunks of our home base in turf wars unpainted, or everyone going to spot the same route in ranked matches a lot of times.
-
I dunno, I haven't encountered any screw-ups on my end yet. If I'm not painting our base first, some roller is doing it. And I change direction if I see two of us painting the same corridor.
Also Kelp Dome is now my favorite map.
-
I'm really hoping the update in august allows us to bring our own teams to ranked. That probably won't happen, though, since Dio knows that ranked isn't about making decisions that might give you an advantage over other people.
-
New weapon coming tonight!
http://mynintendonews.com/2015/06/12/new-splatoon-weapon-splash-o-matic-coming-tonight/That's 3 new ones and the game has only been out 2 weeks. I see like Hyrule Warriors, updates are frequent and plentiful. :D
-
I wonder how it differs from the Aerospray.
-
Judging by the description of it, it doesn't sound like it does. Also, its sub will be Suction Bombs and its special will be the Bomb Rush. Basically, I'm not interested in this weapon beyond playing around with it in the range.
-
I wonder when we'll get three maps in the rotation and not two. The space is definitely there, and Nintendo has added two new stages this month alone, so there's enough for rotation.
We're on version 1.2.0 right now, so I guess that'll be the next "big" update….probably August with lobbies and the tower game, but hopefully sooner.
-
Does anyone have a link to a description of the August update, or what we know? I guess I missed the direct so all I know is something about custom teams. Which isn't strictly the same thing as just adding custom lobbies.

Nintendo's got an entry about it on their site.
Free Post-Launch Content: Five Turf War stages will be available at launch, but Nintendo will continue to add free new stages throughout summer 2015. Additionally, Nintendo plans to continually expand the game with new weapons, battle modes and gear. A major game update event in August will add two additional matchmaking options, including the ability for friends to form four-person teams and search for other four-person teams to battle against. The second option lets eight friends join up to battle in four-on-four matches on any stage and with any rules they want. The August update will also deliver a new battle mode and additional gear for characters to wear.

Disclaimer: I may have worded it incorrectly.
http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/05/07/splatoon-party-matchmaking-and-custom-games-coming-in-augustParty matchmaking will allow four players to party up online and find another team to battle. Meanwhile, custom games will support up to 8 players and allow them to choose any stage or ruleset they want.
-
Thanks guys. Sounds like custom teams AND lobbies. And new modes yay. I do hope the stage selection increases significantly throughout summer. I also hope all modes become playable with friends. And I liked someone's suggestion of doing team ranked.
-
So I actually like the Splash-o-matic. It's like an Aerospray but with more concentrated fire. And suction bombs are pretty cool; getting to use them for bomb rush is neat. Plus it gives me a use for all that gear with bomb range up.
-
Y'all better have chosen team cat

I tried out the blaster for the first time last night and got this stage.
And let me tell you, you could not be more right. IT ROCKS!

Kohei Horikoshi (author of Academia) is apparently a big Splatoon fan, in addition to Shun Saeki. Both according to recent week's author comments.
"I've been playing Splatoon with my staff. We're gonna have to play in moderation because it's so fun it'll be hard to stop!" - Horikoshi
-
Holy cow, TWO more weapons are coming to Splatoon!
http://mynintendonews.com/2015/06/16/two-new-weapons-heading-to-splatoon-tomorrow/I feel like we're gonna get more stuff for e3. Potentially what day in August the new modes/custom teams stuff drop, and hopefully release date for Squid Girl costume~
-
Not even a mention at E3, but I'm excited to test that garden hose weapon.
-
Finnalllly broke into A rank with an insane win streak
Got like 200,000 moneys in one go
Who needs splatfests I got all the sea snails I want–- Update From New Post Merge ---

^turns out I was totally wrong about this.

Aaaaand now I'm back at B after a huge losing streak

Aaaaand now I'm back at B after a huge losing streak
No offense but that kind of relieved me because climbing up past B has been the biggest pain in the ass ever and I was just thinking maybe I really sucked. My current losing streak has me back at B- .
Also the garden hose thing is garbage. High fire rate it says, but you have to manually pull the trigger, and it has a buffer limit? I don't get what the advantage is. In the end it shoots slower than most weapons and doesn't have amazing range or power.
-
Finally got all the green clothes that I wanted, thanks to Fool and Spyke. I can't believe I've been checking Jelonzo and Annie's shops since the game's release, and I've yet to run into the clothing that I wanted from them. Being charged double by Spyke was worth it, just so I don't have to feel that aggravation when going into their shops and seeing a bunch of repeats and clothes I have no interest in. And even worse, I saw all of those clothes in their shops when my brother would check on his file (including tonight), but they were never in mine.
So, yeah: fuck you Jelonzo and Annie (and Moe).

Well I just got back to A- the next day :P
And yeah I don't really see the point of that weapon, you could just the .96 for better range and power
-
Perfect time to go back to this game.
-
Splatfest has been
****, due to Nintendo needing to work out some bugs that happened during Japan's Splatfest.
Personally, I'm relieved, since I'm house-sitting for my aunt for a week, and would otherwise have missed out. Hopefully it's not postponed for too long, just long enough for me to be back home before it happens.
-
Goddammit this was the one fucking thing Nintendo still had me hyped about, and they can't even do THAT right. Not even a new date… ugh.
-
Wait, what's this Splatfest about? It's the first time I ever heard of this.
-
http://splatoon.nintendo.com/news/article/?id=17
Basically a day of choosing sides (cats vs. dogs in North America) and doing matches and trying to earn points for your side for rewards.
-
Cats vs Dogs. You pick a side, and you're locked into that team for the day. Based on how you do during the day, you get some super sea snails. The team who wins gets extra sea snails.
