From what Twitter has educated me on sometimes the material that gets used in these guns or something other isn’t properly emptied out of these guns between takes so when it comes time to fire them well…..

Though in this particular instance an actual round seems to have been in the gun.

From what I've already heard on the subject and what I read since the Baldwin incident. We have two, fake guns, like realistic looking guns but nothing more than toys. Real guns and blank bullets, which can still cause burn or injury leading to death (i.e. Jon-Erik Hexum's case), and real guns with live ammo that are used for close up shots of shooting. The issue is that all fall into being a "prop gun" as it is an umbrella term, and for the safe usage of the latter two you need to have not only specialists on set and daily safey talks.

On the Rust case it seems that was a strike of camera man that lead to them ousting every unionized member of production and bringing non unionized members. Also the were two previous misfires with the prop guns used. So security and safety were preatty lax.

Maybe not but I'd expect him to be named in a wrongful death lawsuit or civil suit. Since there's still the issue of him pointing the gun at the people who got shot.

While he's obviously getting several criminal charges, his parents have now also been charged with involuntary manslaughter, for buying guns and not taking proper actions when he showed all sorts of obvious signs. And now they've disappeared . . .

On some level, I kinda sorta agree with the idea behind that quote.
I do believe in an individual owning the crime they committed. It was almost always their own choice.
I don't often hear of parents getting in trouble for school shootings, unless I've been terrible with missing such footnotes in other stories.

On the other hand, given the details of this incident, the charges still make total sense.
They did a really bad job of preventing the escalation of the day's events,
and there was plenty of opportunity for common sense to save the day.
